I always enjoy visiting Akrams the main reason the food is amazing. The service is excellent nothing is too much trouble. The food is cooked to how you like it so don’t worry about asking for a variation. I have been going for years and it’s always the same level of service from the same staff and that’s why I’ll keep going back. Great selection of vegetarian food and the place is always lively and buzzing.

Went as a group of 4. Plenty of options to suit dietary requirements (we had 1 vegetarian). We ordered starters and mains, both arriving in good time and made to order. Waiting staff cannot do enough for you, very quick and attentive service - refilling water when required, fresh cutlery and napkins between each course. Very good balti restaurant, highly recommend. We will be back!

First time here, an unplanned Xmas meal out with work colleagues! The staff sorted out table out as quickly as they could for a Friday night in December. Brought own drink from across the road. Good curry will come again. We live out of the area but my husband had also recommended it from a previous visit

The service and food is of the highest standard in the country. I have been based in Australia for 22 years but still regularly visit. This place is incredible. Ifti and the team do such a good job.

Me and my dad went to Akran’s for dinner and absolutely loved it!! We had a peshwari naan and it was the best one we had ever had! Our Balti’s were incredibly flavourful and served piping hot. Overall great experience.

I've been visiting Akrams for 30 years, and although I'm now based overseas, every time I return to Birmingham I make a point of visiting with friends. The food is great and service always friendly yet professional.

This is our go -to curry house .We grew up in the 80’s with Curry on the Ladypool Road and what a great time that was ! So, if you want a great curry served immaculately in big , black , red hot balti bowls, this is the place for you. Awesome naan breads and side dishes , great waiters and food that is brought to your table together with no delays. This is a family run business and it shows, the attention to detail and the quality of service is second to none, but the food is even better. We travel 20 miles from Kidderminster to eat there, it’s the only thing that stops us from eating there daily! Love it, Dave & Sue.

Me and a friend visited Akrams for the first time based on lots of good reviews. Unfortunately, we found our experience dissapointing. Very noisy restaurant and waiters pressured us to take our food order on about 4 occassions. Food was bland and we felt very rushed. 'Get them in and out restaurant' we felt was the case here. Won't be returning.

The service was great, food hot and tasty and bill very reasonable. A lovely atmosphere for families and couples alike.

This restaurant is not our local one but worth the drive to and we visit about once a month and have taken different friends here also. This is a busy restaurant and even if you book you may have to wait a little while. However the food is worth it and you don’t have to wait long for it. They also don’t skimp on portions They have had the same waiting staff for years so they are very knowledgeable about the menu and if you need something adapted they are obliging. Wow! I'm still reeling from just how disappointed we all are by our visit to Akram's last night. We are BIG Asian food fans willing to travel some distance to get the most authentic food. We were recommended Akram's by an Uber driver (on our way back from our usual eaterie) and were genuinely excited at what we were told. On arrival it was truly 'heaving' and we did have to wait over-time for our booked table; but were so excited we just took it in our stride. The staff were friendly and hugely efficient - operating like a well-oiled machine; which they needed to in order to keep on top of the service! After possibly the best Papadoms and Pickles selection I think we've seen to date, our main courses arrived; within 30 seconds of the Paps being cleared away; again, a well-oiled machine,,, We all ordered different dishes; a Balti Fish and Vegetable Karahi (if memory serves); a Balti King Prawn Karahi; a Chicken Dansak and a chicken Tikka Masala. On serving, our first reaction was 'this doesn't look appetising or filling'; served in large balti dishes, the Chicken and Prawn dishes literally looked like a few lonely pieces of meat in a alternately thick / watery or gloopy sauce. But we reserved judgement for the 'taste-test.' On the Dansak - even the pineapple in the sauce was utterly tasteless; The Tikka Masala tasted of nothing other than sugar; The Fish and Vegetable Karahi was 1. devoid of any flavour and 2. almost completely devoid of any fish... The King Prawn Karahi was to put it mildy; completely tasteless... though labelled as 'Spicy'. I actually used salt and pepper to try to give it some flavour as truthfully, I've tasted spicier Oxo based gravy... The King Prawns were totally overcooked and I even let someone else taste 1 to see if they could recognise the flavour... "Water - it tastes like water" was the unsolicited and objective input; yes - I don't know if they were fresh-water prawns (is that a thing) or had been marinated in fresh water - but it was genuinely the first time I have tasted - tasteless prawns; and I've eaten in 108 countries... To their credit, when the staff came to clear up, they asked if everything was ok and I politely told them how disappointed we were with the food for which the staff-member apologised. If someone had served me a glass of wine as disappointing as the food was, it would've gone straight down the sink. Nothing tasted 'bad' such that we could really complain; but then nothing 'tasted' of anything... Truthfully, our go-to places are The S'oak (Selly Oak), The Masala Merchant (Moseley) and Tamasha (Harborne / Edgbaston). The first listed is by far the best and best value. We noted that none of the customers in Akram were actually Indian, Bangladeshi or Pakistani - which really should have been our warning. Great staff; great service; just tasteless and overcooked food. Cannot recommend and genuinely, we feel so disappointed as to feel 'cheated.'

I travelled up from Kent with my family to see my aunt. As she always raves on about this place when I visit, I decided to treat her for a meal. It did not disappoint, great food, great people and we will certainly come again next time I am in the area.

We were looking for somewhere to eat before we met up with friends nearby in Stirchley and came across Akrams. Lovely friendly welcome as you enter. Shown straight to a table and offered popadoms straight away, which arrived promptly with a plentiful selection of the usual sauces and pickles. Food was delicious, freshly cooked.staff were all very friendly and helpful. Obviously a popular restaurant as we noticed quite a few regulars arriving who were greeted warmly by the owner and staff. Highly recommended.

Everything was delicious, the sauces with the poppadums were next level. Attentive and friendly service :) a must do when visiting Birmingham.

Always excellent food and service. Kashmiri fish is stunning, as is every dish. Very accommodating, and even do me a roti with fresh garlic. Can't speak highly enough. Highly recommended.

I really liked this place. Good food and a good selection on the menu. Portions were good sized - my wife had the lamb tikka sizzler and she got much more lamb than you would get in my local restaurants. I had the garlic rice and it was nice to get it _properly_ garliccy :-) However, I think the real kudos is for the service. You feel really welcome straight off and everyone is friendly. They don't sell alcohol, but there is an off-licence across the road and apparently you can bring the alcohol in. I didn't as I was driving. If I lived in the area I would definitely be going back. Hmmmm, I wonder if they'll deliver? 80 miles is probably outside the delivery zone tho ;-)

Amazing 🤩 we absolutely love it here. It’s our go to curry house especially for a celebration as you can guarantee a brilliant meal. Service is spot on and restaurant is always clean.

Had a brilliant time very accommodating to my new born, staff was patient with taking my order and was offered popadoms from entry with dips. Food was brilliant cooked fast and hot from the kitchen. Will be coming again.

Akram's is a large restaurant and is always busy you can see why. I've been eating here for years and the food's always good. Service is also pretty prompt, which is often a complaint in curryhouses. Ifti and his bro who run the restaurant are efficient and friendly, as are all the staff. I usually have a balti, which is always freshly cooked and full of flavour. All the food looks good but the naan breads, in my view the yardstick for a good curry house, are as good as anywhere, with the Peshwari being the star turn. Takeaways are just as good and it's now licensed so you can enjoy a cobra with your meal! Enjoy!

Originally from Birmingham but moved to Wiltshire but when I come back to visit and want a curry always go to akrams the best place for ourselves and friendly people and a great atmosphere and the food is amazing love it there :)

One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to. The flavours are excellent. Staff are very attentive. Lots of vegetarian options.

First time we have visited as a family. The children didn't eat as they weren't hungry and the restaurant was fine with this. I had the keema & spinach Balti and a chicken tikka & cheese naan. Honestly one of the best I've had and one of the only few times over eaten everything. The naan bread was perfect!! My partner has a lamb Karachi with mushroom pilau. He also really enjoyed it and cleared his plate. Overall, great food, great price and lovely attentive staff! Thanks

This place has the best veggie curry in Brum. I've lived here for 35 years and I have a curry around once a fortnight. I can say hands down this is the tastiest. The balti Spinach paneer karai is unmatched. Amazing depth of flavour, richly spiced and portions are generous. The owner is always extremely friendly and the service is casual and warm.

Good food, would recommend spinach and paneer, staff are friendly and service is fast, open late. And if all that’s not enough the owner looks a small bit like Matt berry

On arrival we were welcomed, seated and menu's given straight away, service was great, food was amazing, staff attentive, would highly recommend a night out there!

We visited here for a family Eid dinner. Service was excellent from the staff Iftikar and Nasir were fabulous and attentive. Food came out well synchronised in a timely manner. Staff genuinely couldn’t do enough for us, we ordered a large variety of curry’s and grilled dishes - everyone loved the food, being an Indian / Pakistani family we have high expectations of Kashmiri food but the food here exceeded our expectations. Don’t hesitate to give these guys a try.

First visit in over 25 years and found it to have the same friendly owners and food was still exceptional. Busy and bustling with atmosphere couldn’t do enough for us. Won’t leave it so long next time!

We Love Indian food, and have tried many around the UK. We were hoping for a superb meal at Akrams. To be fair, it was Ok, Fine, satisfactory etc,,,, But Nothing at all was Wow. The Shashlick was v nice, But odd flavour, the mutton chops were a very good portion, but lacking flavour. The Chisken Balti, was lacking flavour. Plus both dish's were classed as 2 Chillies, indicating fairly spicey, We had to ask for extra chillies, as very tame ! So all in, a bit too "English" for true Indian connoisseurs !!

If you want an authentic Balti then this is the place. The restaurant was very busy so book in advance. The food was absolutely delicious, staff so friendly wish this was our local curry house! They don’t have an alcohol license but it’s no problem as there is an off licence directly opposite. The waiters do have bottle openers. If we are In Birmingham again we will be going again.

We had popadoms to start and then asked if we could share a shish kebab starter. The owner said certainly and suggested that he would serve them as a sizzler with onions and we both had salad (very tasty). For our mains we had King Prawn and mushroom balti and I had Chicken and chilli balti with sag we shared a rice and I must say the taste of all the food was delicious. The service was excellent and we will certainly be returning soon.

Very impromptu visit on valentines eve Such a welcome considering no booking The owners made us very welcome and told us the history of Akrams . How had we missed this restaurant! We chatted about the evolution of the Balti and proceeded to be seated.. The food was excellent from the starters through to the main course All food was a perfect 10 .! Having been an aficionado of the authentic Birmingham Balti since 1979 I was extremely pleased to discover Akram's in Stirchley. So many quality restaurants have disappeared from the Baltic Triangle and the lack of choice has been frustrating...but Akram's has become our firm favourite. The range and quality of meat and vegetable dishes are outstanding. The staff are very attentive and the the boss , Iftika, is happy to accommodate additions or changes to existing menu offerings to meet customer requirements. It's a popular establishment and booking in advance is recommended.

Fantastic food and friendly staff. The best lime pickle we’ve ever tasted. Can see why it has such good reviews really tasty and take your own drink is a bonus. How an Indian restaurant used to be and should be, full of atmosphere. It was rammed so would book before you go. Just one gripe. We sat right in line with the door and people standing right by us waiting for tables plus the cold from the door, but apart from that (we would ask to be sat elsewhere next time) first class .

Ive been coming here for over 20years, with my family and various friends and partners. After not being here for around 7/8 years, the Akram brothers still remembered me! Great food and BYOD, Ive always had a good time and will continue to come back!
