Aizle in Edinburgh, City of

I was looking forward to try their 7course tasting menu since everyone here said it’s very good. It started off quite well because we were really impressed by the starter pork belly skewers. It was so juicy and tender. So we were kinda excited for the next few dishes. But unfortunately everything went downhill afterwards. Four of us ordered two wine pairing and two soft drink pairing. I can only say terrible choice of wine. It’s basically matching red wine to red meat etc. somehow the paired wine ruined my dishes because it was just terrible and taste cheap. Overall expensive was just so so.

We had the seven course tasting menu and the food, presentation and service were delightful. The venison and scallops were my favorite but there wasn’t a dish that I wouldn’t have been happy to have seconds of. The desserts were just delicious and a perfect way to end.

A must visit spot in Edinburgh for fine dining.

The tasting menu started well but then lost its way towards the end which was disappointing. Not enough greens with the venison and this was again disappointing. And a few things were too salty, eg bread, dessert. No need for that much salt on a chocolate dessert; unpleasant. It was expensive too. Had better for less money. However the staff were delightful, engaging and non intrusive.

Loved it! The food in the £50 Saturday lunch menu was unique and delicate. The service was good, and the setting was comfortable with lots of natural light. The seasonal ingredients used can be similar to their sister restaurant Noto. We went to Noto one day before Aizle, and there were around two dishes where the ingredients overlapped. Nevertheless, the cooking methods differentiate the dishes at Aizle from Noto and produces unique tastes.

I treated myself for my birthday this year and truly had one of the best meals of my life. The drinks were also EXCELLENT. Their kombucha drink was out of this planet delicious and the Negroni was perfection. Their staff was super knowledgable and explained everything in a way that made me so excited to try the next dish. My only regret is that I didn't opt in for the 7 course option — next time!

Amazing food and a wonderful experience

Awesome experience. Food wonderful. Service friendly and efficient. So good it's on our "go back" list. Paired wines recommended too. Back again and as excellent as before.

Unfortunately not as good as the old Aizle restaurant in the Southside or their sister restaurants Layla or Noto. The staff were amazing though. We we were there for lunch 02/02/25. Definitely could have just been an off day. We did not enjoy the menu on the day. 😭

Michelin star quality food, excellent service (though not quite Michelin) and a lovely atmosphere. Would 100% recommend and return next time we visit Edinburgh.

Fine dining restaurant located inside the Kimpton Hotel. Various length (depending on the day/time) tasting menus from predominantly local ingredients. Innovative and interesting choices from an Australian chef adapted to Scottish setting.

Very expensive menu, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. Service was slow, with large gaps between courses and the tasting menu was uninspiring.

This is truly one of the finest dining experiences of our lifetime! The staff is knowledgeable and extremely warm and friendly, The food is beyond incredible. We will always remember this truly epic night.

My wife and I treated ourselves to the seven course tasting menu, a week day evening at Aizle. All courses were delicious, plus additional cheese course, and although not paired throughout, the few drinks we had were great, too. A quiet atmosphere would be the only slight improvement, but being a weeknight evening, probably couldn’t be avoided. Excellent service and round introductions, incredible food throughout, and well worth the splash out.

The tasting menu was phenomenal, unique and would recommend it over some of the Michelin star restaurants in town! The soft drink pairing was also quite lovely!

Last night we dined at Aizle with their seven course tasting menu and I have to say it was the best food me and my partner have eaten. The flavours were incredibly thought through and served with great knowledge. Special shout out to Dean and Holly who took care of us and the bartender who made the best wet martini I’ve had!! Everything was top notch and I would definitely recommend this.

We went to Aizle for our anniversary. We had high expectations based on previous reviews, price point and write ups. First. It's in a hotel, I've been to plenty of great restaurants in hotels that you do not feel like you're in a hotel. This was not the case, it felt like they might serve breakfast in the restaurant- you can see reception from your table. To be fair to the kitchen, the food is pretty great. We ate some really lovely dishes with great attention to detail. Unfortunately, that's where the attention to detail ended. Service was.. rough. Wine pairings served either way before courses or after food was on the table. It never felt really in sync. The pairings themselves were, just fine, nothing interesting or particularly adventurous apart from an English wine that honestly overpowered the dish it was paired with. There were big lulls in service where we felt quite abandoned. For all the slow pace, when someone did appear at our table they rushed through practiced explanation with no personal service or charm. Also they were all SO quiet in a very echoy dining room. All in all, for the price, really disappointing. We've been to their other restaurants and were expecting more. If it were a hundred or 2 less, it would be a different review, but when you charge that much, the service HAS to live up to the food. It feels as though Aizle desperately wants to be a Michelin star restaurant, they're just not there. That hasn't stopped the setting their prices as if they are.

Enjoyed the 7 course meal...the staff were very knowledgeable about the food and it added to the experience of dining there...wine excellent...the food was good..but not the best in Edinburgh.. The decor was unusual..again ok..but not the ambience you'd expect..would have preferred a warmer more inviting feel to the restaurant..probably slightly disappointed in all..which is a shame..

Some great flavours in interesting combinations and beautiful elegant plating. Worth the pairing wines, worth the cheese course if your fanatic about cheese this is a whole different take.

Food was surprising, balanced and delicious, each mouth delightful. But the partridge main was so mean in size - one small sliver per guest - it undid some of the great experience, and we left still feeling hungry after 5 courses. Everything is so nearly great about this restaurant, and the passion and endeavour is clear and to be celebrated - just remember to leave guests sated as well as delighted!

A really stunning meal, expertly explained at each course by a knowledgeable chef. Waiting staff were lovely and the seasonal local ingredients beautifully prepared. The room is the only let down. Lacks atmosphere and slightly jars with the food experience but we thought, overall, Aizle was well worth the visit. An excellent meal!

My wife and I had dinner there. Diverse tasting menu and wine pairing. Romantic and warming patio seating. Our favorite while in Edinburgh. Highly recommend!

A beautiful restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. We chose the 7 course tasting menu with paired wines and every course was beautifully presented and explained and paired with the drink. A highlight of mine was the desert plate and the hispi cabbage. A celebration of cabbage & mushrooms. A grilled hispi cabbage with crispy maitake mushroom, topped with autumn truffle. And a cabbage foam.

Food was great, no issues with any of the courses. However it took over an hour from sitting down to getting our starter. The wine pairing came out and we'd nearly finished it before getting our meal, which came out before the cutlery and they took it away again. Left us with a sour taste after spending quite a large sum on a special night out. Additionally we like to follow the courses with a menu, which other tables were provided with but we weren't.

I have cherished beautiful memories at Aizle—from 50pp tasting menu to 105pp. The friendly staff, great food and cozy atmosphere make it my first choice for special occasions. I’ve recommended it to many friends, and it never disappoints.

The 7 course tasting menu was very very good. With lots and lots of AMUSE BOUCHE that were lovely. The staff was very attentive and plentiful. My only request would be the staff could be a little less robotic. Would ho back any time. Very good value in a lovely 😍 setting

Love the space, very open, tons of light, lush plants surround you - the eating space is ALIVE. Excellent vibes! Went with the 5 course tasting, flavors were fabulous and the dishes were cohesive and well thought out. Appreciate the menu design and the harvest concept.. my preference would be to have the ingredients grouped by course so I know what I’ve just eaten. Staff were more than happy to repeat when asked, but menu grouping would be nice. Only lowlight in my opinion was portion size. I left the meal still feeling a touch peckish after 5 courses and I don’t think that should be the case. I did see others reviewers were happy with portion size and I will caveat that I’m an American so it may be a cultural thing - your mileage might vary here. Overall a delightful spot, wishing them great success!

The service is very attentive and very professional in treatment and explanations. As for the atmosphere, the music is good but the environment is not that of an exclusive place, they don't even put a tablecloth to differentiate themselves from lower category restaurants. The food, very well presented but very slow in serving the dishes. The cuisine itself is disappointing in the combination of flavors and especially in the quantities served in relation to the price paid. Honestly, the experience has been far below the expectations created by the reviews.

Avoid at all costs. Extremely expensive with CHEAP ingredients (an entire course is bread and the next is entirely cabbage). The lamb (main course)Solely alive for insta pics. Yes the food tastes good but it tiny and not worth the price. Disappointed.

We had soft drinks pairings with our 5 course menu. I enjoyed every dish. It's definitely for a special occasion.

The food and experience are so delicious! Did the smaller tasting menu and it was the perfect amount of food. They presented each dish and were very pleasant with answering questions and clarifying ingredients. Gluten free and they were great with offering alternate bread and dishes. The space choice is a bit odd, it’s in the middle of the hotel right below a skylight. Felt like a food court but the food and service give a great fine dining experience.

Very decent experience and tasting menu. The service was phenomenal and the food was well presented. The atmosphere was relaxing. We went for the 7-course tasting menu paired with drinks. The food was decent, some meals were not the best. The venison main and the pork was heavenly. The desert goats milk not so great, was quite sour; which is a shame given that it could have concluded the tasting menu properly. The drinks however were great. Overall, I would say this was very interesting but perhaps a bit overpriced.

If you have to eat one great meal in Edinburgh, definitely consider Aizle. We tried their lunch tasting menu, and as a vegetarian I was skeptical, but oh my, the food was good, and so flavourful. I highly recommend giving Aizle a shot!

Buzzy, vibrant fish restaurant with excellent fish dishes and an interesting wine list.

Honestly, highly overrated. The meal was so expensive, the presentation was pretentious, and much of the food was done up with no real addition to the experience. The food tasted good, but the vibe was off. Service took 3.5 hours, and the portions were so small for the timeframe that all four of us left hungry. It honestly gave off satire of a fancy meal, and not actually one.

Not all joined up! Located in the courtyard of the Kimpton Charlotte Square, my first impression was that we had stumbled in to a cafe at a garden centre! Our welcome was less than enthusiastic. We were shown to our table in the corner of the restaurant next to a coatrack and an obsolete computer gathering dust. The corridor around the restaurant was busy with hotel traffic. Not really an aspiring Michelin setting! Service varied from very good to okay. Liked the idea of the 'ingredient list'. Definitely some significant skill in the kitchen with preparation & presentation. Dishes varied from interesting and/or imaginative to okay. Loved the lamb (though odd not to have cutlery with this course) & chocolate orange pumpkin dessert, but not so impressed by the lack luster/flavour monkfish and rather tough duck. Also, not a fan of the rather over-sweet brioche half way through the meal. For my taste, the dishes were generally over-salted. There's good competition in Edinburgh for these 'taster' menu events. Aizle's offering was rather underwhelmed and, in my opinion, there is better value to be had.

We had the tasting menu with wine pairing, lovely foods made with fresh ingredients, my favourite were lamb belly and salted duck, staff were friendly and knowledgeable about what they are serving and sommelier has done a good job explaining the origin and how each wine was made, impressed with foods, service and atmosphere, must try when visiting Edinburgh!!

Amazing, amazing tasting menu. How this place doesn't have Michelin is bewildering. Not stuffy, with interesting takes on every plate, go for that special occasion and you won't be disappointed.

Tout était très bien en somme mais plusieurs petits ratés font que c’est pas aussi bien que certains commentaires font croire. Déjà le dîner est beaucoup trop long (3h30). C’est la durée d’un repas dans un bon restaurant Michelin. Ici bien que le service et la cuisine s’en approche (certains plats sont extrêmement bon) on n’y est pas encore. C’est un menu en 8 services et on n’a pas le choix d’en choisir moins. Même si les portions sont petites la durée entre les services est beaucoup trop longue. Je recommande quand même mais ne vous attendez pas au meilleur repas de votre vie. Mention spécial au sommelier qui était excellent de À à Z.

Went there with a mate to introduce him to a set menu experience and it left him with a full appreciation for fine dining. Despite him hating the idea going into it. I have always enjoyed eating at highly rated restaurants myself and Aizle was substantially better than most. I've lost respect for Michelin because this restaurant hasn't received a star yet. The food was top notch. The service and care by both the the kitchen and wait staff was incredible. Easily one of my top 5 dining experiences ever. I don't even leave reviews. This place was that good.

We were in town to celebrate a friends birthday and sort of fell into Aizle as it was attached (physically) to the Kimpton Hotel. What a happy accident! We had 10 people partake of the tasting menu with about half also partake of the wine pairing option. Every course was a beautiful and delicious experience. Best dining experience of this type that I have had in at least a decade. Staff and service was impeccable even in the face of 10 person table. I can’t say enough good things about Aizle. Made a special occasion truly memorable. Thank you!

We had the most incredible meal here the other evening, safe to say some of the best food ive ever had. My friend was gluten free and the changes made were nearly unrecognisable, she enjoyed the same quality meal as I did. The highlights for us were the duck, monkfish and all the desserts! I would also say the cheese course is a must add! The wine pairings were beautifully done and explained, they complimented the food perfectly. Thank you so much to the lovely team for such a wonderful meal!

Beyond brilliant! Haven’t had a set meal of this caliber in quite a while. Service was flawless and the setting was beautiful. Alcohol pairing generous and plates were a work of art each one. Was dining solo and I felt like everyone was a friend. Do not miss this spot!

My wife and I got food poisoning from this restaurant. Nightmare situation. It ruined the whole trip. Not only did they refuse to take any ownership for their poor quality food that night, but they were deflective and confrontational. Only I option I have is litigating for a mere $300 meal that ruined a whole trip. If you are visiting from out of town ask yourself is a 3 hr tasting menu really worth wasting a whole trip?

My sister and I went for a dinner with our partners! It was DELICIOUS and the wine pairings were amazing also. Will definitely be back.

What an amazing place for dinner. Had the 8 course tasting menu with the wine pairing which was a match made in heaven. The way the they described each drink and how it complimented the dish made for a truly fantastic experience. I choose not to take photos of the meals so the experience is not spoiled for others. A relaxed place with great food and knowledgeable staff. Definitely on par with some one Michelin star places I tried so it baffles me why they haven't got one yet. The tasting menu has a story to tell from amuse bouche to dessert and the concept is consistent throughout the dishes, the decoration and the whole atmosphere of the restaurant. Highly recommended!

I had to have the gluten free menu due to being coeliac, oh wow it was probably the best meal I've ever had and mines was basically the same as my sisters who was not gf, great service amazing food would highly recommend

The dishes were absolutely delicious. The combinations of ingredients and tastes were really well combined. The Wine pairing was also great! The staff were inclined on helping with every need. Furthermore the staff had excellent knowledge of what was served.

Incredibly happy to be able to squeeze in dinner at Aizle. Dinner was such a delight. The lamb skewers and lamb shoulder was the highlight for me. Every dish was well-thought, flavours were amazing. Service was great! Will definitely be back again!

Had dinner here during our vacation to Edinburgh, and it was one of the best dining experiences, if not the best, we’ve ever had. And I emphasize experience because not only was the food absolutely incredible, but the presentation and staff was phenomenal. We added pretty much every additional option to our meal and every dish and drink was a exceptional. This was an dinner experience I’ll never forget.

Excellent tasting menu, full of surprises and well executed. Pleasant and attentive service but not overly fussy. Overall super flavours and a delightful experience, consistently good food. Delightfully consistent standard of quality fare that rarely disappoints. Well worth a visit.

A little over rated in my opinion. As tasting menus go, the experience was fun but I didn't find the amount of food or the flavor combination to be that exciting, especially for the price. There is also a VERY long wait between courses, sometimes it was upwards of 25 minutes and it wasn't that crowded. The servers also will not ask if you would like another drink when they take your class away which was a little annoying. For the price and the reviews I see here, I just had higher expectations.

Best meal in Scotland. The taste is by far the best. Had more expensive meal in Scotland but not better than this. Some drinks in the soft drink pairing tend to be a bit too sweet. The wine pairing is really nice and complements the dishes well. Good presentation as expected in fine dining. Service also on par. But it's the taste of the food that really put this place on top. Use of the ingredient mix is very well done. Love the lamb belly and shoulders. If there's one fine dining to go to in Scotland, this is it for me.

Was interesting experience. Presentation of all served food was nice and taste in general was fine only except a few dishes. I can only give four stars bcz of service. I said to a server that i cant eat beetroof but in the end they served beet.

Interesting tasting menu that definitely doesn’t leave you hungry - desserts were a highlight and the wine pairings perfectly complemented the dishes. If I was to nitpick, I would have preferred softer lighting to make it feel like a more relaxed space. Overall, a lovely dinner.

Without a doubt one of the best tastings we’ve ever had. Incredibly imaginative, challenging one’s taste buds without seeming out of place or ‘too unusual’. Paired with a perfectly matched soft drink pairing menu. Ingenious. They deserve a Michelin star. I’ve eaten at some three star Michelin restaurants which don’t come close to this menu. Service is excellent and unpretentious but attentive, genuine and not intimidating. They aren’t just waiters and waitresses, they taste the food and understand it. We were there on a Sunday evening when the sous chef was in charge. No issues. Smooth as silk, perfectly timed and he came out to speak with us. Gracious and humble. Superb.

One of the best meals I've ever eaten. And a great atmosphere

It was a good meal, but perhaps overrated a little. I had the tasting menu with soft drinks pairing. I couldn't tell how the soft drinks were matching or complementing different dishes, but they were all nice. The thermal comfort of the dining area was not very well built but I had the portable heater next to me so I was fine. In terms of reviewing based on value for money, 3 to maybe 4 stars would be my experience.

Similar to a fine dining restaurant, the food was very tasty and creative with seasonal ingredients. I highly recommend the wine pairing.
