Afternoon Tea at Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel in Windsor and Maidenhead

Tuvimos como regalo un recorrido por el castillo y luego el té de la tarde en el Hotel Castle. Nuestros amigos también vinieron con nosotros y reservamos nuestro té de la tarde para las 3 pm del 20 de septiembre.Aparcamos en el hotel cuando llegamos y la señora de recepción nos mostró dónde tendríamos que ir a tomar el té y nos dijo que teníamos dos habitaciones para elegir, fue muy servicial y amable.Hicimos nuestro recorrido y llegamos al hotel justo antes de las 3, fuimos al bar como nos habían dicho y ofrecimos nuestros cupones para el té. La señora no era amigable en absoluto. . . ella tomó nuestros cupones, nos miró de arriba abajo, habló con el barman y nos dijo que la siguiéramos. Estaba a punto de sentarnos en el bar, pero antes habíamos decidido que nos gustaría sentarnos en la otra habitación más acogedora que ya estaba dispuesta para el té de la tarde (y completamente vacía), así que nos preguntó si podíamos entrar allí. Ella nos dijo que no, ya que estaban ocupados y ya estaba lleno! ! ! ¡Nadie estaba en la habitación entonces o cuando nos fuimos 2 horas después! !Ella continuó sentándonos en el bar y los camareros fueron rápidamente a la otra habitación para recoger los cubiertos, etc. que ya habían sido colocados allí y nos los trajeron al bar. !Otro muchacho joven, después de un tiempo, se acercó y me preguntó si queríamos té y / o café que pedimos. Otras personas llegaban, ordenaban y recibían sus pedidos mientras estábamos sentados esperando los sándwiches, etc. A las 4 de la tarde pensábamos que se habían olvidado de nosotros y mi esposo fue y preguntó a la mujer que nos había sentado. . . . ella le dijo que estaban esperando los bollos? ? 1) Otras personas habían estado entrando, ordenando y llegando allí inmediatamente. . . . incluyendo bollos y 2. ¿Por qué tuvimos que preguntar, si no nos hubieran pedido disculpas por el retraso, especialmente porque habíamos reservado para un momento específico?Finalmente recibimos nuestro té de la tarde reservado para las 3 pm a las 4:15 y luego tuvimos que pedir otra bebida ya que no se ofrecía. Los bocadillos estaban secos al igual que los bollos.En general, fue una experiencia horrible y no volveremos ni recomendaremos.Mi consejo para el personal, la mujer en particular, si no quieres servir y no quieres ser cortés con tus clientes, ¡consigue otro trabajo! !

Just returned from a scrummy afternoon tea which was very nice. Just like to make one point. My daughter isn’t drinking alcohol at the moment as she is breast feeding so declined the fizz we enjoyed as we sat down. However couldn’t a more exciting non alcohol drink be offered , rather than coke, sprite etc or ordinary fruit juice. There are some excellent choices available

Tuvimos un tiempo espléndido y delicioso durante nuestro té de la tarde aquí. Éramos una mesa llena de pedidos complicados, incluidos veganos, vegetarianos y halal, y nuestro servidor hizo un trabajo perfecto con todo. Como vegana en el grupo, había muchas cosas que saborear y me fui sintiéndome muy satisfecho y emocionado de volver en mi próxima visita.

Visited with cousins and aunt. Ordered 3 high teas, there was plenty for the four of us. Good service and good value for money, will certainly be going again. Sandwiches slightly stale and there could be a bit more filling in them, but delicious scones.

Fue un poco decepcionante tener un té alto tradicional con un surtido simple y algo insípido de pasteles y sándwiches, que en realidad vienen con papas fritas. ! No podíamos comer algo, no eran tan atractivos. La mousse de maracuyá era de hecho deliciosa y la crema espesa también. No volvería para High Tea, al menos.

Las mesas para el té de la tarde reservado estaban en lo que es esencialmente el vestíbulo de la entrada del hotel; los camareros eran educados, pero no siempre lo fueron una vez que sirvieron el té. Lo más decepcionante fue el té hecho con una bolsita de té, sin opción de sabores, sin opción de té suelto y rellenos en la misma tetera. He tenido mucho mejores tés de la tarde en otro lugar.

Después de haber tenido una experiencia agradable aquí, decidimos regresar. Mi hija que es vegana llamó por teléfono y me dijeron que atendían a veganos, mi esposa también había llamado por separado y me dijeron lo mismo. Sobre esta base, reservamos un té de la tarde a las 2. 30 hoy domingo 13 de agosto, para siete de nosotros. Mi esposa dejó un pastel de cumpleaños antes y el personal amablemente puso en la nevera. Cuando llegamos compramos una ronda de bebidas en el bar y luego nos dirigimos a nuestra mesa reservada. Teníamos menús que nos dieron y en la inspección no había nada adecuado para nuestra hija. Luego hablamos con el gerente de servicio que dijo que nos habían informado mal y que en su lugar podría conseguir un sándwich y bollos y crema. Él claramente no tenía conocimiento de los requisitos veganos. Luego decidimos ir a otro lugar a un lugar que pudiera satisfacer nuestros requisitos. Me sentí un poco molesto si viajamos aquí desde Watford terminamos gastando 50 en bebidas y luego volviendo a Watford. Es importante que el personal sepa qué es una dieta vegana para evitar que las personas pierdan el tiempo. En el negocio de la restauración, seguramente este es un problema de capacitación del personal que debe abordarse.

Presentación muy, pero aparte de los bollos, nada parecía fresco. Sandwiches sandwiches de huevo eran duras y no tenía huevos. Sándwiches quitaron pero todavía no pan fresco. Otros ingredientes parecía muy barato, sobre todo el jamón y la mermelada para los bollos. No fue una experiencia agradable! No vale la pena el dinero

El té de la tarde reservado para el cumpleaños de mi esposa de 50 y no me decepcionó. Lo más destacado fueron los bollos, que evidentemente ha hecho ya que estaban todavía cálido y olía mal y un sabor delicioso. El tamaño de los bollos significaba que ninguno de nosotros podríamos terminar ambos. Como mucho té ya se puede beber y el servicio era excelente.

Lovely treat. The hotel was very clean, the staff were so very helpful and polite. The afternnon tea itself was amazing with a lovely choice. We were made to feel very special. Would recommend to all.

Having toured Winsor Castle, we were looking forward to our pre-booked afternoon tea at the Marco Pierre White restaurant at The Castle Hotel. Firstly, we were directed to the wrong room - after waiting a while, we left and eventually found another room where only 2 other couples were having the afternoon tea. The waiter appeared after 10 minutes and asked whether we wanted tea or coffee. No choice whatsoever of tea blends. Sandwiches were ok, just, but the scone was extremely dry. Strangely, we were also given a totally bland type of chocolate mousse which was in a very narrow glass - so narrow that even a teaspoon would not fit inside. The only way to tackle it was to use the wrong end of the teaspoon we were given to stir our tea. Not very professional and overall the worst afternoon tea I've experienced.

This was part of a present from my daughter. We were very disappointed when we went to look for a tea room at the hotel. There wasn't anyone around to show us where we should go to have our pre booked and paid for afternoon tea. We eventually found the bar and lounge and having approached the bar, we were told to take a table by the door. This was not really suitable for us as it was a cold afternoon and we didn't want to sit in a draught.the barman asked us if we would like tea or coffee and told us we could have anything we liked. This was not very helpful as we were not given a list of what was available. I ordered an Americano with milk on the side and my husband ordered Earl Grey tea. It was a long time in coming, which, in a way, was good for me. When seated, we came across a menu on our table which indicated a cafetière was available. I therefore hanged my order to this. The barman said that it was a good job that we had ordered these drinks as they had run out of the Earl Grey tea bags at the bar and these were then replenished. If I had stuck to my original choice of Americano, I would have only had one cup instead of the three I had from the cafetière! The sandwiches(finger) were rather dry and tasteless. The scones and pastries, including a shot glass with chocolate mousse, topped with cream and a raspberry were very tasty..

Very helpful staff, had a great birthday tea! Couldn't have been nicer and accommodated all our particular requests!

We decided to have the tea at 12.30pm before visiting the castle, this enabled us to have dinner in the evening elsewhere.

afternoon tea was wonderful I think the scones are the best I have ever tasted the staff were very attentive an all round perfect experience

We walked in without reservation for afternoon tea after spending a long day at Windsor Castle. All 5 of us were tired and the tea was the perfect pick me up. My 3 kids (9, 14 and 17) and wife had not had Afternoon Tea before. They loved it. they each had a different tea, they enjoyed the sandwiches and the desserts were great. The scones were perfect. We had a very civilized time relaxing and recounting our vacation to date. A nice break to a busy vacation. my kids still speak about it and loved it so much we had afternoon tea this summer when on vacation in North Carolina (not as good, but still very enjoyable).

We were given a Virgin Gift experience consisting of a visit to Windsor Castle followed by afternoon tea at the Castle Hotel. According to the Virgin voucher, "This afternoon tea will make a marvellous end to your royal day out at the castle".

Went for Avo tea as part of a trip to Windsor castle (which was very good too). The hotel was being refurbished so the ambience was not ideal, but the staff were so welcoming, accommodating and genuine that it wasn't important.

This was part of a birthday gift so we had high expectations. We were met at the front door and sat at a lovely window table comfortably. Tea was delicious with excellent food and lashings of tea/coffee. Only two things were disappointing first was trek for the ladies loo up windy stairs ( although on returning to our seat we found a disabled loo) and secondly the hotel is having massive work done so our lovely tea was accompanied by banging, sawing etc very nearby, so in that respect it was frustrating, especially after walking around the castle on a hot sunny day. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and they did apologise.

We got there without booking and wanted to book that day, they accompanied us there and then as we had a two hour journey down to Windsor they were more that happy to do afternoon tea which was a welcome refreshment and kept us going through a 3 hours trip round Windsor Castle

Excellent central location for high tea that your grandmother would be proud of. Elegant and very pleasant. They have an option to purchase champagne and make it an even more special event. Wonderful way to end an exhausting day walking around Windsor Castle.

As we were already here and got up late after a wander around the Great park we came back to the hotel for afternoon tea. Great selection of finger sandwiches, slices and of course the cream scones. Couldn't fit another bite in. Went home very happy.

Our friends often call for the above for a special treat with a glass of champagne for special occasions they thoroughly recommend it, whilst we saw others eating the tea we did not this time.

Having been given the voucher as a long service award and reading the reviews following an excellent visit to the castle ..I wasn't expecting much .however it was much nicer than the previous reviews suggested

After receiving a present of a voucher for a Windsor Castle visit and Afternoon Tea for two, we made our visit on sunday.

I'm not sure whether we were at the same Ladies night you were at Veronica, it sounds like we weren't but we attended the Mercure Hotel on Saturday 21st for a Ladies night in aid of Macmillan Nurses. I have to say it was probably one of the best Ladies nights I have been to. The hotel was amazing as was the food and staff. Exceptional value for money in my opinion. £50 for a ticket including a 3 course delicious meal, fantastic service and a great band. I'm sure there are not many places you can get that for £50. WELL DONE to the staff and organisers I would most definitely attend another. Thank you for a great evening.

this was a little dissapointing. There was a selection of cakes and scones and 6 finger sandwiches which consisted of salmon, cream cheese and cucumber and egg mayonaise. i would of prefered more savoury than sweet. the staff were very freindly but seemed a little disorganised. the overwhelming disappointment to this experience was that there seemed no respect from other customers here i particularly didnt want to listen to a telephone converstaion which another customer had on her mobile on loud speaker. Maybe the establishment should put a mobile on silence sign up

Stopped here for tea and cake, one chilly afternoon. Great location opposite Windsor Castle. We sat in one of the booths, not much space to squeeze in and out! The tea and cake was lovely. A minor point, I guess, but we were only given paper napkins, it would have been much better to have linen napkins!

Staff were not very attentive and did not offer to top up the tea throughout our visit - plus there was no option for Herbal Tea unless you asked for it.

We had afternoon at the Castle Hotel, Windsor, as part of a Buy-a gift.com voucher. The staff were very polite and accommodating, when we arrived early. Lovely sandwiches and fresh scones with jam and cream.

This is not the first time we have eaten in the bar at the Castle Hotel, however it is the first time I have been prompted to write.

Last week a party of 4 were really looking forward to high tea at this 4 star hotel. Unfortunately our experience was more like 1 star. There was a painter in the main seating area which was off putting when trying to eat!! We received 1 scone each and 3 finger sandwiches plus A cup of tea or coffee for £144! In my experience this was very poor for the price. Although the cost did also include entrance to the castle (which was amazing) our lunch definitely ruined the over all experience. Would not recommend.
