We went for afternoon tea with some friends. We were a group of one vegan, one dairy allergy and two non-dietary requirements. We booked well in advance with this info and we assured they could cater for us. The room is beautiful and the tea was great, however, the cakes and scones for the dairy free were neither interesting or tasty. We couldn’t actually eat the scones as they were so dense and clearly gluten free. We asked the server who didn’t know (and in fact had not told us what cakes we had either), who went to talk to the chef. It seems that they have one allergy option- which is vegan and gluten free. If we had been told this in booking we would not have booked this. Our cakes looked like they had been opened from a packet and cut in half, whereas the other cakes were beautifully decorated and interesting looking, they were sandy and we were unable to eat them. I took some home for family but they couldn’t manage them either. We were offered a glass of Prosecco to make up for the lack of edible cake but declined. No reduction in price was offered so we paid £40 each for a cup of tea and a couple of sandwiches. Very disappointed as dairy free/ vegan cakes are not difficult to make.

Visited for Sunday Afternoon tea as a birthday celebration. We were really looking forward to tea in the splendid Great Hall but it did not live up to expectations. The food was bland and lacking in colour and variety; the cake selection was boring being mainly creamy confections of the same colour and no refill of tea or coffee was offered. It certainly wasn't worth the money and we have had better elsewhere for less cost

Sons treated me to afternoon tea at Fawsley Hall, went on a quiet day, the venue is lovely and beautiful, however the experience was ok, staff were very slow and service was quite poor, have been to many afternoon teas and this was not one of the best ones, would not recommend, specifically considering the price you pay.

Not the best afternoon tea we've had I'm afraid. The sandwiches were small, dry, and had very little filling. The cakes were rather boring and consisted mainly of macaroons. The savoury tart was tiny. There was no mousse amongst the sweets. My husband's vegetarian afternoon tea looked a bit more interesting. We were offered complimentary chocolate or banana cake and he was served a thin sliver of the banana cake, I think they were trying to stretch it out as much as possible. They then tried to charge us 12% service charge (ouch). We will not be returning. Does not compare to afternoon tea at Luton Hoo in Herts or Crazy Bear at Stadhampton (best we've had). They don't hold back!

Although expensive, you get your money's-worth. We went for a birthday treat for my partner who is keen on afternoon teas. I couldn't find any faults. The service was immaculate, the food delicious, the Tudor Lounge location was perfect, the seating comfortable, no background music, no issues.

We chose here last minute for our anniversary and wow! I’ve had some afternoon teas in my time (including the Ritz..twice!) and this was by far my favourite. While the food and tea was amazing, what made our experience an 11/10 was our waiter Feyzullah. He couldn’t of possibly done more to make our experience top notch if he tried. He was always checking on us yet never over bearing, funny, charming and kept the complimentary mini cocktails coming. I would return here in a heartbeat. The scenic drive in and countryside surrounding is beautiful. We cannot wait to return. Might have to make this our anniversary tradition

Wow. What a brilliant birthday afternoon tea!! Great value for money. Very impressed after leaving. We had lots of treats and selection. We had put a note on booking to say no cucumber, but it had accidentally been missed. We didn’t say anything as my Dad doesn’t eat it but I do. The server came running over and apologised and offered to get additional sandwiches, we declined as we had plenty already so we didn’t mind sharing what we already had. Food was yummy and a great selection. One of the best afternoon tea’s I had been to. Champagne was lovely and my Dad enjoyed his Expresso martini. We had that much we had to take away left overs!! Special mention to our server Feyzullah. What an absolute credit to the team and company. Incredible customer service. Very quick and helpful. Refreshed our hot drinks and water without having to ask. He also knew a lot about the history of the paintings and building. He even provided us with a leaflet on the painting to gain some knowledge of the history. Whilst talking, he asked if there was a birthday to which my Dad said yes it was his daughters (mine). To which he later came over smiling and said “we forgot part of your order…” to which I was confused and he started laughing and presented a happy birthday plate with cake on and wished me a happy birthday. What a lovely touch! I hope he is as appreciated by the company and his colleagues as he deserves it and works very hard. Overall, I would recommend this afternoon tea to everyone!! Bit on the high priced side but is 100% worth it. Me and my family will be back over Christmas thats for sure. Thank you again!!

Three points because: 1. The staff were lovely 2. The food was nice 3. The location was ok no view of the hall or countryside Lost points as way way too expensive for what you got and charging extra for a plate of sandwiches which consisted of two slices of bread. In London and indeed Oundle and Uppingham additional sandwiches are provided. Thus another point lost as not value for money. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Incredible building and lovely surroundings. The drive up to the building was amazing. Easy to park too. But then the afternoon tea experience itself was a little deflating. The staff seemed on edge the whole time, basically watching us or unhappy with what we were asking. The guy who we had the most dealings with seemed insulted everytime we asked for something. Then the wrong food turned up, I'm veggie and all the options were meat plus my mum had asked not to have a certain filling but they sent it anyway. The cakes were nice though and even though asking for a box to take leftovers home was taken badly, we did so anyway. And the cute festive Easter egg decorations were a nice touch. The room where they serve afternoon tea was incredible, felt very luxurious but I just don't understand why it was so awkward.

My sister and I attended here for the afternoon tea today, we decided to do December as we thought it would be lovely and Christmassy. There was nothing to do with Christmas on the table, not even a piece of holly, only a large tree in the room and one in reception. Sandwiches were very dry, and weren’t really nothing special. Nice fresh scones (crispy), liked the chocolate desert. An hour into our visit we were approached by our waiter who said no rush but your table was booked for another party in an hour, it was a table for 2. Fawsley need to inform customers when they arrive, that there is an allocated time slot. We both agreed wouldn’t visit again. Not worth £35pp.

The staff were extremely welcoming and on hand for anything we required. I t was not a busy day so we did have lots of attention. Reading previous reviews, I think they have upped their game as the cakes were delicious and not over sweet so as to ruin the meal. They catered for vegetarians and the sandwich fillings were in different types of bread. For the price I would have liked to see possibly prawns, crab, or homemade ham etc - ie a better, tastier selection of sandwiches. This is my 2nd afternoon tea at Fawsley and the surroundings are stunning - however I feel that is why the afternoon teas are expensive. They also tried to charge £62 for a bottle of prosecco but there was no problem changing this to the price I had been quoted at the time of booking. In summary, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon in beautiful surroundings, - quite expensive and need for different / tastier selection of sandwiches to reflect the price,

Having had a lovely afternoon tea at Fawsley Hall a couple of years ago, I decided to revisit with two family members. What a disappointment! Although I had completed dietary requirements online, the staff had not read them and therefore we had to explain again on arrival. We waited a while for our food and then two teas came considerably earlier than the remaining one. My tea was missing some items, which took a while to rectify. Although the scones were good, the food was average quality in the main, with one of my cakes (a banana bread) actually inedible. Another cake (a chocolate muffin) was suspiciously identical to a supermarket bought cake, which was not what I expect for the price we paid. We came away hungry. The service was non-existent. No top-ups of drinks without requesting them. No clearing away dishes. The staff could not explain what the food was that they were serving and they had obviously not been trained how to serve properly. One member of staff was constantly chewing gum, which did not give a good impression. I don't like giving poor.reviews. but this is an honest account. Fawsley Hall needs to improve before I go there again.

I had my first afternoon tea at Fawsley in the Tudor lounge in May of this year, it was out of this world, loved it, hence a second booking just after Christmas 2019. So disappointed. No wow factor as there was before. Sandwiches very thinly filled, you could hardly taste the filling, they were also very cold as well, obviously nice to be fresh and chilled but not too chilled! Scones nice and warm, cream nice and fresh, no complaints about the scones. The tea was rather weak. The ambience and lovely experience of the Tudor lounge is still beautiful and very special. I've been telling everyone Fawsley is the best afternoon tea around but after this experience I have changed my mind. It's very average now and we won't be back. The wonderful Mo ( who was exceptional ) served us and did ask for feedback and I told him exactly what I have said here, overpriced for average food. Shame. What's changed?

We took advantage of an email from handpicked hotels for a BOGOF on the champagne afternoon tea. I’ve always wanted to try Fawsley Hall’s tea, so I dragged the better half along. The staff were very friendly and we were seated in the beautiful Tudor hall. The better half was driving and the lovely young lady substituted his champagne for orange juice - which was watered down. Tea arrived and they readily accommodated hubby’s gluten intolerance. Unfortunately everything was dry and tasteless. We didn’t take the waitress up on her offer of talking us through the cakes, as we wanted to dive in and sample the tastes ourselves - part of the fun is figuring out what each one is. The sandwiches were tasteless and the better half’s bread was so dry it fell apart. He did have a half a slice of cucumber on one, though. Apart from the chocolate dome pastry, which was cloying and very sweet, everything else on both cake stands tasted the same - dry, sticking to your mouth and bland. I was disappointed that we had to pay £34.75 between us, I’d have been livid if we had paid full price and for £70 I would expect much better quality food.

The service was actually poor. To the point that I asked them to remove the 10% discretionary service charge added to my bill. Slow, uninterested and really just not on the ball. When the afternoon tea arrived, it was sort of dumped on the table. No attempt to tell us what the fillings were or what the cakes were. This is usual practice in pretty much every afternoon tea place we have been to. We had to ask for milk twice and there was no attempt to remove unused glasses/crockery. Vegetarians had 5 sandwiches each, vegan had 3. They were nice and fresh, but vegan was clearly short changed. The scones were nice. The cakes were disappointing and not like any seen on pictures we have. The vegan ended up with one of their cakes being a strawberry, 2 pieces of melon and a raspberry on a skewer???? Other cakes were a bit dry and uninviting. Vegetarian cakes were really quite average. At the end they overcharged us and how to redo the bill. A bill I waited 15 minutes for from point of asking. Certainly doesn't stack up to others.

Sandwiches were bog standard plastic ham, cheeses, egg and cucumber with dry edges, scones were huge but dry, small patisserie cakes were pretty and we took them all home. We had a nice glass of champagne and were given a glass of Prosecco on the house, but all 3 of us did not drink it as we didn’t want it. Good gym facilities, treadmill, cross trainer and various bikes plus weights. Massage was very good. The jacuzzi outside was hot and very inviting. Unfortunately the patio looked as it needed jet washing. The tea and infusions are free but the coffee which is poor is out of a machine has to be paid for as an extra and you have to get yourself with a token which is available from reception. Afternoon tea was in the Great Hall. Sandwiches were tasty but nothing exciting egg, ham, cheese and cucumber. The scones were the best part of the tea. The cakes were delicious. I have been to Fawsley Hall for Afternoon Tea several times, however this was my first visit as someone who now has an intolerance. I was really disappointed with the Gluten Free option for Afternoon Tea. I understand that this type of thing is difficult, however having had some absolutely fantastic bread at the Inter-Conti at the O2 a few weeks back I now know it is possible to achieve great things without gluten.. The bread for the sandwiches was nothing special, the scone was quite flat and there was only one, the other Afternoon Teas had two! The cake options were poor, there were two that were almost identical and they were very quite tasteless and dense.. To lighten up my birthday celebrations I ordered a Rhurbarb Gin and Ginger Ale to be told they had run out... So all in all not the best visit to Fawsley I have experienced... Maybe I have to accept its time to now give Afternoon Tea's a miss!

Me, my 2 daughters and sister went to Fawsley Hall for afternoon tea we had arranged as a surprise for my mums 70th birthday. WOW, what can i say, amazing food, amazing building and the service was fantastic. Even though it hadnt been arranged, the man who was serving us arranged for a platter of which wished mum a 70th happy birthday with a selection of chocolates and a candle, delivered with a rendition of happy birthday being sang to her, 100 % for a wonderful service

Fawsley Hall has huge potential but is very overrated. For the high prices charged you do not get Five Star service. Tea is adequate but no better than a good cafe. Best avoided.

Went to Fawsley Hall for "Afternoon Tea" on New Years day and it was amazing. We have been a few times to Eat, Stay and use the Spa, but this was extraordinarily good.

The afternoon tea was a gift from a fiend and what a lovely experience it was. The hall is stunning inside and out, I was fascinated by the rooms. The tea was gorgeous with a choice of type of food which was all delicious. The staff were a little slow but attentive to needs when asked. I would have liked somewhere to hang our coats or have them taken to a cloak room rather than on the back of the chair. I would recommend.

I was bought an afternoon tea voucher by my Sons for Christmas. What an amazing treat! The afternoon tea is served in relaxed but beautiful presented setting and the staff were attentive, without being absent.

My goddaughter bought me a voucher for afternoon tea for my birthday. What a wonderful gift it turned out to be. The Tudor (mainly) building is amazing, the staff fantastic and the afternoon tea was delicious in a wonderful setting. And the surprise chocolates and birthday candle was a lovely touch. The log fire was glowing, the music quietly playing and the candles flickering. Gorgeous! The staff gave us a leaflet of information about the history of the hall and family too. To improve even further I’d suggest that coats could be hung up, and, staff ask a little sooner if a top up of a hot drink is required. I would definitely return

Wow! What a lovely treat. Greeted by welcoming staff. Seated in the fabulous Tudor hall - comfy seating and roaring fire. Served a lovely glass of champagne, followed by lovely fresh sandwiches, scones and an array of sweet pastries. Waiting staff were very friendly & accommodating. Overall, a 5* afternoon tea, and highly recommended. Well done team

Booked afternoon tea for a special occasion and overall was not disappointed. The food was outstanding and plenty of it; the surroundings of the great hall are magnificent. Whilst the individuals who served us were polite and helpful, they were clearly having to serve elsewhere in the hotel and were absent for long periods. Twice I had to walk to reception and ask that they send the waiter back - which at this price is less than satisfactory - so perhaps my rating is on the generous side!

Lovely place for birthday afternoon tea , we had a walk around the grounds , the afternoon tea was lovely and the great hall is a gorgeous setting , beware it was a bit chilly , if you are taking any elderly relatives make sure you have warm clothing on , possibly could have done with a couple extra staff but they had a wedding function on , we had a bit of wait to pay the bill and we were charged incorrectly , but worth a visit , would recommend It and the spa is lovely -

Went for afternoon tea, never again. Had booked for a set time, farmed off to the bar to await table/ seating area - took almost 2 hours to get seated, order taken and afternoon tea to arrive. The reason for the lengthy delay was an earlier wedding party had overrun. Management you need to wake up! You have hundreds of wedding each year and thousands for afternoon tea so you know how much time to allocate to each event; bad planning and management had a profound effect on what was meant to be a special day with afternoon tea.

Firstly I’m not posh, I pulled up in the car park in my Mk III Mondeo - why I’m going for afternoon tea in a place like this, I’m not so sure...

My boyfriend treated me to a afternoon tea for two at Fawsley Hall this afternoon. First impressions when driving into the hotel were great, immaculately kept gardens and very quiet and peaceful. Staff were very friendly and attentive and we got seen too and seated very quickly. The room for afternoon tea is beautiful, very quiet and peaceful, seats were comfy and spacious. Afternoon tea was delightful, waiters asked about dietary requirements and were easy to swap mine for a gluten free option without any hassle. Food was yummy, atmosphere was great and the grounds are beautiful. Had a perfect afternoon and will definitely be returning if just for afternoon tea or a spa stay.

Being guided to our table in this mega- historical Venue is quite awesome.....only to be let-down by average food....biggest disappointmentwas the so-called " Sunday - Roast" hich may have been cut from the joint hours ( or days ? ! ) before to be served as re-heated sliced meat with " tired " vegetables and pre-baked Yorkshire - a totally un-appetising dish. Starters - reading well but also very average ...However, all is not lost -my Sea-Bass on mash was very good !

We came here on a weekday for Afternoon Tea. We had a voucher for two from a recent birthday so it was free, but to be honest we would happily revisit and pay the £25 per head which is good value for an Afternoon Tea.

Shame we had to wait 20 mins over our booked sitting time. Staff kept saying another 2 mins which it wasn’t. Should have just said to walk round to the garden and we shall find you or take a seat in the courtyard rather than leave us in uninspiring staircase hall.

The afternoon cream teas are a treat to behold and they are served in the spectacular great hall with stunning views of the gardens, ancient chapel, farm lands and the lake. Go on, pamper yourselves after a relaxing time in the spa.

I read the previous reviews and was worried about the level of service and standard of food we would receive. However the staff were very helpful and attentive to our needs. We also had brunch earlier in the day which again was very nice and staff were more than helpful. The grounds are lovely including the spa which is very relaxed. I would recommend visiting Fawsley for fresh home made goodies which if you don't eat it all they are more than happy to give you a take out box. Thanks Guys for a great afternoon tea.

By reading such mixed reviews by the sound of it we were very lucky. The tea and the staff were all wonderful. The tea was a present for Christmas. My only problem was that I am disabled and to make my tea cooler I need cold water in a jug and we asked 3 times.

One of the few places we have been where you can have a savoury tea which is great as we often fine all the cakes, while lovely, a bit too sweet.

What an absolute joke this coffee shop is . Charged us for a baby chino £4.75. And the attitude is disgusting . The till charges as a full cappuchino and does not take anything off. What a rip off and service is awful. Dont waste your time and your money.
