Afternoon Tea in City of London, Westminster

We’re here on Dec 1st. We’re currently going on over 1 hour since we’ve been seated with absolutely nothing to show for it. Not even our order taken on what food we’d like. Absolutely terrible service. Save your money and go somewhere else that actually provide service for the price they charge.

Would not recommend this place for afternoon tea. The service is very poor for the price point, it took 1h10min for us to get our food, had to ask multiple times to more water or refill on our teas. We had asked for tap water from the start, yet were unknowingly served bottled water and charged for it. The food is not exactly afternoon tea style, mostly carbs and oversized. While the salon is very pretty, i would never come back here.

Very nice and tasty food. A bit on the expensive side (49 pounds per person), but it was worth it. They were little works of art on your plate. Please note that there is an additional £12.5 service charge they charge extra. The mocktails were incredibly tasty. Definitely recommended!

Very disappointed with this tea time… Accustomed to London tea time, I did not find the quality and diversity expected. The food had no taste and seemed made yesterday. Nothing to do with quality tea time! Especially in a palace… and at this price…

Booked an afternoon tea at The Savoy and was booked at The Strand... Arrived at the Strand and our booking was lost, they took us to a table and didn't check that we were on afternoon tea and not normal menu. Service a bit disorganised. Food tasteless, watery and maybe from yesterday! Prosecco warm we had to add icecube. When we explained our disappointment regarding the food, our waiter told us he was talking to the Chef, they just ignored us until we pay and not even a goodbye. Really disappointed, I don't recommend this place.

Theatre afternoon tea, very disappointing, not the level of an afternoon tea in London, especially in a palace with such expected standards. Food was tasteless, watery and not fresh. Despite telling the Staff, nothing was done or actioned - silent treatment and barely a sorry. We will never go back, and really don’t recommend. Plenty of better afternoon tea in London, and no need to pay such a price for such low quality. Deceiving look for the food. Not worth the price - and the room we were in really not cost for an afternoon tea.

We had a lovely afternoon tea. The food was delicious and the service very good. A very enjoyable afternoon 😊.

Incredibly delicious. Everything tasted heavenly and we got refills of bubbles and drinks. Two beautiful ballet dancers danced at our table while we ate. A wonderful experience.

A delicious selection of delicacies to accompany classic English tea! It's just a shame that the service fee shown on the invoice as optional is ultimately debited without asking. Of course we would have tipped: but we think 12.5% ​​is too high! Especially since the service was good, but not exceptionally good.

I thought it was lovely! The sandwiches were delicious and the scone my favorite. The deserts were varied and although I love marshmallow and apple, I was a bit disappointed in the item itself. There were three of us so we each got a different tea in order to share. The staff was attentive and friendly. It was a quiet Monday afternoon so very relaxing.

Delicious afternoon tea in a great location. The sandwiches tasted fresh and there was a nice choice of tea. I did think it was quite expensive for what it was but I still enjoyed it.

Very disorganized service. We waited 30 minutes before sandwiches and pastries were brought to us. The whole thing was rather disappointing. We will not repeat the experience.

The staff were friendly but it was completely disorganised: (1) a set of sandwiches were missing, and a pair of desserts - and we repeatedly had to ask to have these served; (2) my friend who cannot drink alcohol was told there was no alcohol in the desserts when there was (it was a brandy dessert!); (3) the sandwiches weren’t that nice in my opinion (defo not 4 star); (4) the theme was supposed to be ‘playfully whimsical’ and based on Benjamin Pollock’s toy shop - but there were just themed menus and nothing else 😅 not much effort put into it 😬 So I defo don’t recommend this afternoon tea - I had a nice afternoon with my friends but it was a waste of money really! Also it was interesting to note that people at another table seemed to be having problems too 😬

I took 3 elderly relatives and a friend to a pre booked classic afternoon tea it should have cost £35.00 per head inclusive of a glass of champagne. The manager of the Hexells came and eventually honoured the champagne. We were served 3 finger sandwiches each, previously frozen and were thawing out. Could not say what the contained as there was hardly any filling and no taste at all. 2 scones and 4 small cakes one being a boring eclair. No one ate the sandwiches and the bill of £219.00 of which £25.00 was a service charge!! They then refused to take my cash and said it was credit card only, nobody told me this in advance. My mum is 93 and I wanted to give her a nice Christmas treat, so disappointed and it ending up costing me £44.00 per head for a tea!! Strand palace should hang there head in shame!!

If you let the staff know in advance they can do a very pleasant gluten free/celiac high tea. We were very pleased both gluten free and not. The winner was coronation chicken sandwich. Yum

Well great expectations were met with some disappointment unfortunately 😞 the afternoon tea was sparse with only two sandwiches per person 😳never in my wide experience of afternoon teas all over the country have I encountered only two finger sandwiches per person. Don’t get me wrong, what we had was ok but that’s the best I can say I’m afraid 😳 There were no replenishments whatsoever and it all felt a little too mass produced for a London 🏨 hotel. We felt the service charge on the bill excessive for the lack of service and then were told the hotel didn’t accept any cash payments!!!! Might I suggest your management take a look round some other London establishments as I’ve had far better and quite frankly I have left rather disappointed 😔

Beautiful afternoon tea with festive touches for the season Lovely staff serving were very attentive . A good selection of teas offered .The tea itself was lovely ..not the usual 3 sandwiches and a scone ...there's was loads of variety and some unusual things we hadn't had before .The salmon and charcoal cone was gorgeous and my favourite of the sweet selection was the tiny lemon meringue tart . The only thing for me being a savoury over sweet lover... possibly would have liked another little sandwich instead of one of the sweet items to get the balance right for me .But a very generous tea beautifully presented at a decent price

Had a brilliant festive afternoon tea here last Saturday - my first afternoon tea experience so was excited. I'm delighted to say we had a lovely afternoon and the food was top notch! Our waitress, Karla, made a brilliant effort to ensure we were happy and did everything she could to make sure our experience was a good one. Value for money was really good too. Highly recommend.

Comfortably the worst afternoon tea I have ever had. Very cheap, tasteless and stale food. I asked to have the vegan sandwiches and was presented with some very stale alternatives which were not on the menu. Upon realising the sandwiches I just ate were not the vegan sandwiches on the menu, I asked to find out what it was that I just ate, the chef and waiters could not and would not tell me, with no offer of compensation for the fact that they couldn't guarantee what I ate did not have meat in it as they had no idea what I was served. Highly suspect and dangerous for anyone with allergies or intolerances. On top of this we booked the festive afternoon tea through their website and upon arrival found out that it was not running yet, despite being able to book. You honestly could make a better afternoon tea yourself from a local supermarket. Very disappointing customer service and food from a hotel on the Strand. Do not waste your time or money.

We booked a festive afternoon tea through the hotels website. When we got there we were told it wasn’t available until later that month, despite having been able to book it. When ordering the normal afternoon tea my wife ordered the vegan sandwiches. These were very stale. It then transpired these weren’t the sandwiches off the menu and the chef and waiters/waitresses were completely unable to tell us what she had been given. Completely unacceptable and potentially dangerous for those who have allergies. The rest of the tea was low quality, tasted like cheap supermarket food. It’s a cheap price tag, but the quality is infinitely cheaper. Thoroughly recommend avoiding.

This was my first afternoon tea experience, but I loved every minute of it here. The service was phenomenal, and so was the food. They had a lovely tea selection and my server helped me choose the right one. It was a beautiful setting and so relaxing and enjoyable. I could not be happier with my first afternoon tea!
