I went with my friends to this restaurant because it was recommended by friend, and was a great experience with the lovely atmosphere around us and the service was very good. The food was fantastic with different varieties and a lovely Ethiopian taste. I will go back to this restaurant because I really enjoyed everything there.

The food was very well seasoned and the portions were a great size, especially for the very reasonable price. The service was friendly, water with lemon provided for the table without asking and we were offered extra injera which was very much appreciated. The service was quick too which was appreciated when I was catching a train afterwards.

I've been to a few Ethiopian restaurants, especially in Spain —great experiences. At Addis food was just OK and wasn’t served hot which eroded our trust — one of us had overcome cancer recently so they were not too reliant on their dish. And the menu is not written too clearly for the uninitiated. The table was waited correctly but one of the waiters' attitude was not too welcoming really. Not the worst joint I've been at but I'm not anxiously expecting to return.

I've been before about 5 years ago and remembered it being good so took my family during a trip to London. Service with a smile for the most part, and seated quickly. Food took a while to come but they were busy for a Wednesday night. Ordered a dish that said "mildly spicy" and asked if they could make it very, very mild and they agreed, when it came it was maybe the spiciest thing we ordered. My partner and our 13 year old could hardly eat it. We did ask for some plain rice for my son to eat instead and they didn't charge for this as an apology for not being able to make it milder. Waiter did seem to avoid us when it came to paying and was a bit abrupt. Overall I personally liked the food (I do think the hot spices could be toned down a little, even on my food) but my son's and partner would never want to go again. Not recommended if you have fussy eaters with you as even the mild food is very hot and spicy.

My lamb dish was extremely hot, managed to eat only a few spoonfuls. The waiter asked if everything was okay but did not wait for the answer! Eventually he did ask if I would like anything else instead and brought me some ice cream as requested. They charged us for everything, including the ice cream!!!

I love injera which is a soft fluffy sour tasting Ethiopian pancake eaten with meat and/or vegetables. This time I went to Addis which is on Caledonian Road where there are many Ethiopian restaurants but Addis is nearer Kings Cross Station hence the reason I dined there. I was tempted to leave and go to another Ethiopian restaurant because service was so slow. I had the Dulet which was finely chopped lamb tripe, liver and red lamb meat cooked with Ethiopian spices. The injera was served first and it was so soft and fluffy like an English pancake but very sour tasting like there was so much fresh lemon juice in it. Next came the dulet which I thought was saucy but it was dry. Overall, I found the dulet too chewy because it was mainly 80% tripe and couldn't find any liver so the other 20% is probably lamb meat. The injera at this place is definitely the best I've had but probably chose the wrong dish to go with it. On a side note, the sharing plates are huge!!

One of London's best Ethiopian restaurants. Prices went up over the last year, but quality and taste remain unmatched. The restaurant should really invest in at least one disabled toilet on ground level and abolish the one step into restaurant at the door (toilets are steep stairs down). You can wash your hands vefore the meal in the toilets, a facility upstairs could be handy. Fish is highly recommended. Also suits vegetarians and vegans. As for the later, kitchen should start experimenting with Tofu substitute to replicate all dishes they do for vegetarians and vegans.

I've had Ethiopian many times before, but only in the US. I've also made my own kitfo and injera. I was looking forward to trying some Ethiopian in London on my last night before heading home. Food: 4 I had the kitfo special (with cheese & spinach) and peach tea. The menu said only medium rare and well done, so I asked if they made kitfo rare. The server said they did, but asked me whether I tried raw before? Rare is the only way that I eat kitfo. The dish was tasty enough, but would've been nice if they provided more cheese than spinach. The injera could've used more sourdough flavor. Prices are very reasonable though, compared to the US. Ambiance: 4 Cosy with wood accents. A nice place to hang out when chilly outside. Service: 3 I wish they told me earlier that their CC machine wasn't working so I could've gotten cash from the ATM before I ordered. I'd been using my CC practically my entire trip and spent most of my currency. After I paid the bill, they never brought my change until I asked.

Went here on a recommendation from a friend. It was certainly an interesting experience as none of us had ever had Ethiopian food before. First impressions were that the restaurant itself could use a bit of love, it was a bit old fashioned and left behind, not the most appealing but then we weren’t there to enjoy the decor. After being seated for a few minutes beer arrived. We didn’t order it, it just kind of appeared but it was certainly a welcome sight and a little later someone came to take our food order. When the food arrived some of the meals came on their own plates with knives and forks, and some where served on top of Injera- a slightly vinegary and spongy bread/pancake which proved to be a bit of an acquired taste. We were served 2 large plates of injera and had multiple dishes we had ordered placed on top of them for sharing. Thankfully the 2 vegetarians sat opposite one another so we had an entire Injera to ourselves with a selection of veggie dishes on top. The other end of the table got a mixture of meat and veggie dishes, which is fine, but given no one asked who was vegetarian within the group has we sat the other end we would have gone hungry. The veggie dishes were all tasty, well spiced and cooked. The Injera was not personally to our tastes but it was an interesting experience to eat in this way. When it came to paying it felt like their system was very archaic. The receipt was all handwritten so it was difficult to work out what we all owed. The waiter also asked “how much service to add?” at this point, which was a little bit rich considering that was the first word he had uttered to us all evening; after seating us, bringing us drinks and taking our order in complete silence. Overall this was an interesting meal out. I’m happy that I’ve tried Ethiopian food even if it wasn’t necessarily my cup of tea, but equally if I try it again it will most assuredly be somewhere else.

I opted for a vegetarian option as it was a bit to late in the evening for some meat. From I offer until I got my food, probably 10-15 min. The assortments was put on top this big pancakes - not the pancakes but the white, fluffy bread like dish. It was good and just how I remember it, except this time it was tiny spiceyier than what I wanted but not spice enough to say it was burning. So good ;) and it filled me up so didn't eat the whole thing, and it was a big dish.. Love it and for the dish and coke and it was not to expensive happy days. Close to kings Cross station with prompt service makes it good for a quick meal if catching a train. The overall bill was very low for London and on that basis it just gets 4 stars although we couldn’t agree on the standard of the food. The best dish by far was the pitta and humus as a starter. We shared a mixed dish as the main with lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes placed on a spongy aerated pancake with more to use for picking food up. There was minimal meat and not a lot of variation in taste on the meat dishes. Vegetarian dish was better.

We really love Addis and have been coming for a few years. The food is really tasty, as is the beer, and you really can't complain at the prices. It feels increasingly rare in London to eat good food and not feel like you've spent a fortune.

All 4 of us were delighted with the experience. It was the first time we tried Eritrean food and we were greatly surprised. We ordered the meat and vegetarian combos and everything was lovely. Some dishes were too hot for me (as I am not very used to hot food), but everyone else loved them. The restaurant is cozy and very nicely decorated. Service was 10 🌟! The lady helped us with the menu and was very attentive (if you actually read this review: thanks so much!!) We will be returning soon!
