A&D Fisheries in Tonbridge and Malling

We ordered a takeaway through deliveroo. We could not eat the chips, tasted old and reheated. Too much oil on fish, spam fritter. Had cod bites and we each had a bone in the cod bites Not happy with the food

Last time I ate from here I was pleased but not now regular fish has shrunk it contained 2 large bones and wasn’t as tasty, the chips were horrible mostly tiny pieces and brown like old oil witch left a bad taste in your mouth the man really scrapped the bottom of the fryer draw with chips to make up for the complaint of the shrunken fish thanks not!

I have eaten here with issue since 1998. Tonight I had a piece of cod so hard I couldn’t cut it with a knife and fork, indeed I had difficulty tearing it with my hands. Granted on my return I was offered a fresh cod however I had eaten a portion of chips so was no longer hungry, so asked for either a refund or a credit note to show my continued loyalty to the shop however both were declined.

The food at this place is a disgrace I will never be back This used to be ok Has something happened is there a new owner or has the management changed Food is greasy and revolting

What has happened to A&D chip shop, literally used to serve the best tasting chips. Brought some chips there yesterday and they was literally the worst tasting chips I have ever tasted and cost me over £4 for them. Won't be eating from there again chips were disgusting.

Totally disgusting service portion sizes absolute joke. Dripping in oil & soggy. My only advice is Avoid

Used to be the best and better than Papas Barn but now consistently toxic oil and very poor and rude service since young Cypriot guy took over cooking

Ordered online ordered the same order before this time it was different got a grilled fish paid for delivery had to drive there myself with the whole order got a new fish from the rude manager and gave me back the rest of my order cold. Delivery nearly an hour late wrong order cold food and rude rude staff stay well clear it’s not worth it

I order fish and chips once a month for my myself, my daughter, her partner and my grandson. This was the first time I used A&D. My daughter is not a fan of batter so had the grilled cod with lemon and parsley. She loved it! All of the order was great. It was hot and tasty. The only negative (a minor one) was that my grandson didn’t get a toy with his meal! He’s only 17 months so it was ok. However, my older granddaughters would’ve been upset about it.

Absolutely disgusting! Cold chips! Tasted disgusting. My daughter and I thought we would try this chip shop as we was passing. The smallest portion ever, I knew as the man basically, threw the one scoop of chips, in the plastic container, the chips would be bad. We sat in the car ( to eat our child’s portion ) spat then out. Literally, went back into the shop. And was asked, would you like me to heat them up in the microwave! Eh! No thanks. Than the boss, picked up a chip, squeezed it and said this isn’t cold! Worst bloody chips we’ve ever eaten! Rank!!!

First time using this chip shop. Tried others in the area so thought I'd try this one. Did a phone order which was nice and easy. Collected 20 mins later. Staff were all super busy but it was well organised. Order was complete and acurate. Staff were nice. Food was very nice. Was a bit shocked that it was £10 more than I usually pay elsewhere but I guess that's inflation, the cost of living is going up in general. Not a bad first visit.. May be back again.

Came in ordered a savloy chips and curry sauce with a bottle of coke the staff member think her name was Chloe her service was appalling haven’t seen such bad customer service who ever employed her well done if you don’t want customers and let’s get on to the food had to warm the curry sauce and the savloy and chips up when I got home as freezing cold and I will not be returning unless it’s an odd occasion I would say get Andy back honestly when Andy was there the food was so much better

Wholeheartedly agree with recent postings on this site. Service was unfriendly, bordering on rude. Cod was tasteless, chips were tasteless, mushy peas were tasteless. We sat outside on their tables, by the busy A20. We collected our food from the counter, same as take out customers. We ate from a cardboard box with pretty useless plastic forks - unlike the photo on this site which shows a plate. There were quite a few local customers so perhaps the owner doesn’t have to worry about giving a decent service. If you’re out of towners like us, avoid.

This business has obviously got something right in the past because its been around a long time. Business owner you need to pay close attention. I have been buying from you for many years. But I have to say the level of customer service lately is sub standard also the hygiene and quality of the food is poor. Your staff need to listen to the customer when placing the order, today I repeated myself 5 times before it finally registered. Can I suggest writing down orders, Last time I checked I was born in the UK and speak the queen's English. Also I found a long hair in my under cooked chips can I suggest your staff wear hair nets. Nobody wants to find a hair in their food it is discussting for the above reasons I we no longer be a customer. To the owner you really need to get back to basics or you won't have a business. I phoned the shop to speak to a so called manager and was greeted with a carefree attitude by her and that they thought it was quite funny. I will be Contacting environmental health regarding your starf not wearing hairnets while handing food.

Had to wait 10 mins outside in rain to then find out the woman let someone who pushed in front of queue in even tho they monitored the queue to take orders so I was like really when it was my turn to go in and they asked me to wait out side for the kids sausage to be ready for me then to explain it’s savoloy and chips twice for them then to say what size sausage I then had to say again my order I am not happy at all with the service especially when I work in the Wealden hall and I know that you put customers at priority and make sure no one pushes in I am definitely going to try and avoid unless management are happy to talk to me but if not was good going for all them years but after that one incident I will not recommend anyone goes there use the Martin square one instead it tastes better for Martin square aswell but unfortunately the a&d is the closest one to me

Been my favourite for F&C for years just around the corner. Often order their seafood box/platter. To avoid having to wait with Covid etc I placed a telephone order told 10-15 minutes it would be ready. Got their c20 mins and was told they did not have my order or could not understand it despite repeating it over the phone to the young man who answered. However they appear to remember my order! They said it was with 4x chips! I order small chips. I was the. Told to wait outside in the cold. I went back in after 15 mins to ask where the order was and was told they were just doing it by a young rather aggressive woman with glasses. I complained and was told that if I did not want seafood poisoning I would have to wait. She raised her voice and I responded. I was annoyed firstly, the did/did not get my order (4x chips) and I have been made to wait outside for longer than should have been to prepare. Her response was that they were very busy - not that busy from what i saw. Her attitude was deplorable and unfortunately I responded. Some of the staff told her to calm down as I was a customer - did not stop her ranting. All I expected was a civil apology. I eventually got the order and when I got home there was no hake. I asked my wife to call and they told me to call on Monday. I called on Tuesday and was told the owner/manager would call me. Still waiting. I have always recommended them over other F&Cs to friends and family. Never again.

Had been my favourite fish and chip shop over the years... but last few times I think the standards dropped a bit and the portion sizes have been really cut down. Tonight I had cod and chips in a box and the lack of chips was shocking.. could see through to the bottom of the box. Real shame.

Had a ocean box was absaloutly horrible will not be going back in there had to Chuck the whole lot away don't recameand anyone eating from there

Stopped here as I past by. Had the haddock and it was lovely. Prices are good as well. Compared to other reviews, they did have safety measures in place when I attended.

Have been here a few times recently and been happy with the food and service. In there tonight, some really ignorant guy came in saying he didnt need a mask because he was immune, allowed to stay, he was helping himself to salt and vinegar leaning over the counter, he was asked not to but carried on, nothing said to him by guy in the shop.When i collected my order there were too many in the shop, i had people a couple of feet away on both sides despute asking them to back off.Staff all wearing masks but i wont be going in there at busy times again.

Awful food, expensive for poor quality food and poor portion size. Owner is awful man to deal with - absolutely disgusting manager who treats his staff with utter disrespect. During pandemic did not follow rules and there is little in place to reduce chance of transmission. All for greed of the owners. Shame on them for putting their very young staff and customers at unnecessary riskWould steer clear of this place.

No screens, no hand sanitiser, staff don't wear masks and allowed many customers inside a tiny space, non wearing a mask and leaning on the counter. Catch the coronavirus from this lot of fools. They just want to make money and totally ignorant.

I usually come here once a week for years and have been happy with the food, but for the last few times I have been in its been awful. The service has gone down hill and staff more concerned with chatting to each other than doing their jobs. I visited during lockdown and there was a girl barking orders outside, she said took our order and i lined up, as i got to the counter i expected the order to be ready but I had to give my order over again. We waited ages but expected that as this difficult time. When I got the food home there was some of it missing meaning 2 of my family didn't have there meals. I phoned and was told to pop back up and i could grab it. On arriving and getting to the girl outside she said i would have to line up and wait all over again. I tried explaining this was the missing items from our order and that I had the rest of my food going cold at home. She was extremely rude saying I would have to line up again. I decided to go without rather than line up for another 45 mins. Meaning myself and my daughter had toast. The next time I went the chips were not peeled properly and still had eyes and dirt in them. Resulting in picking out the black bits. The girl behind the counter had false nails on which should not be worn in the food industry and especially at a time of a pandemic. The fish appears to be smaller and mushy not having the usual meaty flakes of fish. Really disappointed, the man that was in there and his staff were lovely and cared about the food and customers but not anymore. Such a shame.

Can't fault these guys, always do a great job and the Covid situation has been handled really well indeed.

Normally visit Papa's barn, but they were closed, so I tried here for a change. It's in a different league to Papa's barn - in some ways I wish I hadn't bothered. But I was hungry and I had seen this place as I've driven past.The chips were wrapped up and by the time I got to the car and unwrapped them, they had already gone soggy and lost the crispiness. Was quite disappointed. That said, they were as good as any other fish and chip shop, it's just that I'm used to others in the country that are outstanding.

Lovely food but portion sizes very small. Not enough chips! Compared with other restaurant up the road. They literally fill a small tray and that's it, could do with another scoop or two to top it up.

Not impressed with the quality of the products here. The chicken pie has been hard and dry on both occasions; they clearly leave the pies under the heat for far too long. The chips are soggy and over cooked. Sad to say serving staff are quite rude too, not very welcoming. I won’t be using again.

Far too oily for me. Probably won't go back again. Packaging good for keeping it hot but much prefer Papas Barn quality and taste.

My family and I really like this fish and chip shop but the dark haired older lady is vile and the way she talks to the pleasant young girls is shocking. People like her belong in the back peeling the spuds I’m afraid

Very reasonable prices and very good quality a good 5 Star. The only slight problem is a slight difficulty in parking.

Always come here for fish & chips, food always amazing. The only problem is the person behind the counter. The woman with the dark hair, omg could she be any worse. The way in which I have heard her speak to the younger staff is outrageous. This has happen on more then one occasion. Please sort her out for both the staff sake and to improve customer service.

Very large code in this fish bar and you get big portions of chips. Always well cooked and tasty. Small amount of parking and can be a bit of a problem to find a pull over space. Well worth it though and cooked fresh too! Reasonable prices and good staff

We have fish and chips from there every time, it's worth the few miles drive, but if you ring ahead they will have it ready for you .

Verbal: Asked for Cod & Chips twice. Visual: The standard Cod they sell is of a medium size, this Cod on this night was fairly big to what they normally sell. Taste: Very fine textured flaked fish, grey in colour, tasteless, very papery consistency, not at all nice.Cod: Should have big chunky firm white flakes, and have the distinctive Cod taste. Verdict: I asked for Cod. I wasn't sold Cod.Not at all happy, if I hadn't have been so hungry I would have thrown it back. Ate it in disgust. Cost me £14.00 for some sort of Whiting or Pollock. Furious that this should ever go on. Trade standard discrimination, should be shut down. Shame on them.

Waited over ten minutes for battered mushrooms, I asked how much longer the chef was in the toilet mid cooking my mushrooms! They microwaved my curry sauce as soon as I ordered 14 minutes before I got my order and so I asked for a new one and was told it’s fine to microwave it again when I get home! On leaving the shop I said this is a bad service and I wouldn’t be coming here again the chef said you wouldn’t want uncooked mushrooms! And then the three members off staff just gave me dirty looks as I left the shop. Do not go in there it’s not even that nice now I’m eating it

Best around the area. Wife and daughter won't anywhere else when it comes to fish and chips. Very accommodating as they let you phone ahead to skip the massive queues because they're so good.

Having been in hospital all day wanted a quick meal we could trust. Called into A&D; for scampi and chips, they were very generous helpings and were delicious! Would never go anywhere else. So useful to know they are open on Sunday evenings

Lovely girls behind the counter who I had a chat with in the short wait for my food. Very quick service to get dinner for myself and my daughter, both too tired to cook on a Sunday evening. Welcoming place and delicious food.

We were very surprised , we called here on the way back home the other evening . We had fresh cooked fish and chips , no skin on the fish . all cooked fresh , small car park round the back of the shop , they were delicious . We had gone to papas before , but we thought these tasted better , so we will be back in here again .

I frequently visit this chip shop every friday to get lunch for everyone at my work place. We all agree that the food is cooked to a high standard, the service is excellent and the price is reasonable. They are all very friendly. I really look forward to Fridays and having large cod and chips. A very tasty treat!

Stopped here for a late dinner on a business trip. If it weren't for the chap who was obviously in charge serving me, I think I would have had a very different experience. The hired help didn't seem to know their backside from their elbow and I ended up feeling sorry for the manager who obviously works hard to make a great fish and chip bar. Lucky for me he was there and selected the biggest and most beautiful piece of cod I've ever had. The chips were crisp and tasty and I also stuffed a nice salty battered sausage in my pie hole and it was heavenly.

Been getting our fish and chips here for around 30 years, good portions and good flavours. Always a good meal. Good selection of food available and also do kids meals. Burgers are also available which the other half enjoys

Very tasty food and friendly staff. They do quite a range including chicken, calamari, scampi & burgers. The veggie burger was very nice. They also have a small car park for customers at the back.

I have been using this fish shop for over fourty years, so I guess I must like it. The staff are very good at their jobs. The fish is always good quality and the chips are mostly very good. Sometimes you get the end of the run of chips and they are a bit dry. These chips should be cleared out earlier in favour of fresher ones. This is my only criticism, hence four stars not five. I would and do recommend A & D Fisheries. Buttons not working so. 5* service. 4* food. 4* value.

Every time we place an order, we drive down there and tell them what we want, they never write it down and they get it wrong.

Always friendly staff. Good quality food. Large selection of food choice - always fresh tasting. Their chips are lighter coloured than some takeaways, but I prefer this to darker oils. Their rock is gorgeous and only one big bone you can't miss! I recommend ringing through your order especially on busy days. Customer car park to the side. A couple of tables for those who want to eat there.

Visited a and d fish on Saturday afternoon, friendly greeting and my wife's calamari and my large cod freshly cooked to order. While you may wait a little longer it's fresh, not one of these fish shops with the battered fish sitting in the hot cabinet waiting to be sold. Freshly cooked large portions of fish and chips. Lovely

The chips were really dry like they hadn't been cooked properly and the savoloy is in a hot light and it looked like it had been there for a week still ate it was up for a superise the next morning tho

I've been visiting this fish and chip shop for over 20 years, but have never lived close enough for it to be my local.The fish is always cooked perfectly (and the large fish are LARGE!), the southern fried chicken is tasty and the chips are golden and crispy every time.My kids always ask if we can get our take- away from here and if it is at all possible, we do.

This is my "go to" place for fish and chips so I thought I'd use them for a company event. They catered for 35 people, mix of fish, sausages and veggie burgers. I collected it at the requested time and even though there was a queue of people going outside the door, the food was ready. Everyone loved the food, it got great reviews from everyone, even the ones that usually moan! i cannot recommend this place highly enogh

Just down the end of my road so very fortunate. I thought I had had good fish & chips before but these are just delicious with lovely crunchy batter and tasty chips. Very generous portions.

Best fish & chip shop I have used regularly, I live 150 miles from this shop but visit relatives nearby in Kent often. The folk that run A&D are welcoming, good fun and cook great fish & chips. All fish is cooked to order, so is fresh the the chips are also high quality.I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Why go anywhere else in Ditton as this is the best fish and chip shop in town!Pa Pa's down the road is supposed to be better, why I ask. The fish is not as fresh as A&D, it's more expensive and the portions are smaller. Ok you cannot eat in but my word, where would I prefer to get my fishy meal, there is no competition in my mind!

I have been buying from A & D Fisheries for over thirty years and have always found the fish and chips very tasty, cooked to perfection and served by friendly staff, The large haddock is a very good buy, a massive piece of fish. The best fish and chip shop in the area.

I have and will always use A&Ds! The staff are great and always cater to how u like things. Never had a bad experiance from here. They would be better to replace some of these other chip shops and resturants. My children and family love food from here

We have been using A&D for many years and have never had a bad meal.Parking can be an issue on Fridays but it is with a short walk.

We have been to this fish and chip shop twice now and each time the fish has been lovely and batter done to perfection, "nothing soggy about the fish" Chips have also been done nice.

This is really good fish and chip shop. The food is always good and the staff are helpful and very friendly. The fish and chips are also considerably cheaper than some and so it's good value as well.

Best fish and chip shop around, would highly recommend. The only one to do battered hollumi cheese, yummy! They also cook it in a certain oil which doesn't make it too bad for you
