Met up at 1.30pm as a group of five, sat outside as previously arranged - all very pretty and started well. But it went downhill from there. One person tore a 15cm gash in his trousers from the sharp metal table corner and another had a drink tipped over him as the waiter went to serve another. It took 40 minutes to get the first lot of drinks. We had to ask twice to order food and despite us explaining that we were on a limited time, it took 90 minutes from sitting down for the food to come out. We were only ordering mezzes so not complicated dishes. Not all the food or drinks came out - not all the order had been sent to the kitchen. We had to go through the bill by item as it appeared that we were not going to be billed properly. We had to argue strongly for any recompense for the spoiled clothing from the spillage. Nothing was forthcoming for the torn trousers as "the waiter didn't see it happen". Not a happy event. Food was not bad but not worth the rest of the experience.

Amazing food! We only had hummus, falafel etc. but it was all freshly prepared and the falafel was the best I’ve had! Very reasonable prices too. I recommend.

The other reviews on this site are clearly from a different era. I went to this establishment last night, and it was the most comically dire experience of recent memory. Poor service, very tasteless and cold food, ineptitude at all levels. I kept thinking i was being filmed secretly for a reality show. I struggle to understand how this place is open, frankly.

Great service, not the prettiest of plates but MY GOD the lamb was fall off the bone, the full colours did not translate to dull flavours, tender, wonderfully spiced - do NOT understand why this place is quiet everytime I walk past it…. A gem

Very nice ambience and very nice food. A place I would no doubt go back to. A couple of issues though. One is that some plates are quite spicy but there is no warning in the menu. The second is that some dishes take a while to prepare which may be an issue if you have a set schedule. The third is that my book through the fork was not received which meant no 20% discount as was advertised..

Thoroughly amazing food, service and decor. Highly recommended. Try the embettan (a minced meat filled potato encrusted ‘kebab’) for starters. Follow it by reshda, a homemade angel hair pasta with meat dish. The meat was so tender it was falling off the bone. Absolutely delightful!

Lovely restaurant just off Baker Street serving a mix of North African dishes including Libyan food which is not that usual in London. Nice thing is that the staff are very friendly and accommodating so you can really enjoy the experience, talk about the food and try some new things out. We did a mix of some novel items like mafrum (potatoes stuffed with meat) and classics like cous cous and lamb Tagines. The children enjoyed a North African pasta too. No 1 recommend on our table was the vegetarian cous cous for main and the fresh falafel for starter. Try it out

I visited the restaurant early this morning It’s a very welcoming place I walked in and I was sat down straightaway in a few minutes later my Shisha came made by Ali it was lovely and nice. The owner gave us a piece of cake for a compliment it was really nice it was a Victorian cake with icing and blueberry jam inside it was delicious I fully recommend the restaurant the food is delicious as I heard from my friends. The restaurant is very clean and hygienic that is very good, specially in the coronavirus situation everyone is social distancing and the shisha is super clean. Tamara.O

I have had dinner at this restaurant located in a beautiful central area with my friend at the end of January and we were both pleased with the traditional food quality. The restaurant it’s nicely decorated and has a peaceful ambiance and the staff is friendly and professional. My friend really loved they unique humus recipe that has the beetroot added in it’s composition which makes it so much more tasty.

My wife and i booked a table for 2 here and went for a nice early lazy lunch last Saturday ! When we arrived we were the only people in the small cozy restaurant, but we didn't really mind - we had hard of the food here, so we were super excited to sample it as soon as possible ! For starters we chose the Cheese Borek (the freshest thinnest pastry roll with delicious warm, soft, spiced cheese ever !), the Mubattan (a personal Libyan favorite of mine, a sliced piece of potatoes, stuffed with minced meat - oh God, heavenly) and a stunning Chicken Pastilla (which is a sweet and sour chicken pie originating from Morocco). The 3 starters were AMAZING - really cooked to perfection !! For mains my wife had a Lamb Tagine with Couscous and I had a Reshda - a thin freshly made type of Libyan pasta, influenced by the Italian era, with some of the softest meat, humus and spices ! SO delicious !! I highly highly highly recommend this place. I like the service, I like the decor and I like the simplicity - everything home made, everything fresh. To be honest, I had to go down to the kitchen and personally thank the amazing lady downstairs for making us such gorgeous food ! She was so sweet ! I will come here again and again as soon as I can !!

Food was perfect and different (in a very good way) to tasting menus I've had in other Michelin starred restaurants. Each course was delicious, but the highlight for me was the longhorn beef and jollof rice. That rice was incredible. The spicing level was perfect, not hot enough to blow your head off, but you definitely knew it was there. I had moimoi years ago, but Akoko's version was on another level. Portion sizes were generous, and this meal was excellent value for money. Service was professional, and welcoming. Pleasant staff, very friendly. The Akoko pairing was also a welcome change to just wine. It was lovely to have something different. The whole experience was superb. I highly recommend this restaurant, and will definitely return.

I have absolutely no idea how or why this place gets good reviews - it's like they're all reviewing a different restaurant! The food here was simply terrible. Starters were not too bad, although the waitress struggled to understand the difference between 'hot' and 'cold'. Our table was under a bright white neon light that might have been appropriate for a nasty surgical procedure but was not exactly gentle and welcoming for a cozy dinner. Still, we could live with all that... except the main course was truly dreadful. I had a lamb stew which turned out to be bits of greasy meat swimming in some sort of grey liquid, and the veggie stuff was either tasteless or actually unpleasant. The guy that runs the place was perfectly friendly but nobody cleared away our (largely uneaten) plates for what seemed like an age and the waitress, though also friendly and smiley, seemed to have disappeared altogether. Nor was it cheap - nearly £80 for two - which was just a joke really. I love Ethiopian food, but this place - never again.

The restaurant is next door to the Rubens at the Palace which is where we were staying. The food is very good and the maitre'd Ian is the best. He's friendly outgoing and attentive to all his customers. We enjoyed him as much as we enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was busy but not over crowded. Definitely a good spot for a meal.
