Karthiga was a great host and very entertaining, the food was fantastic

Good atmosphere. Lovely staff. Delicious food. Different to what it used to be (a traditional Punjabi restaurant) but still very nice. Good value for money.

We chose an early evening sitting. Everything came up promptly and the food really was delicious. We were asked our preferred level of heat and they absolutely nailed it. The aubergine curry and tarka dal were my highlights !

It seems to be an uphill struggle to find a decent, proper Indian restaurant with high quality in the area and I stumbled across this place earlier this year to try out. At first I was blown away, the quality was great and then the more I returned, the more I saw it decline in quality and overhearing staff not being happy with working at the restaurant. Seems as though they have different chefs on and they both have their own individual ways of cooking, which isn't consistent and I'm afraid that I won't be returning to Abshar as I'll have to start my search again for a high quality Indian meal. I feel also that if they done set meal dinners also, they would sell more than pricing things up a bit OTT. Other than that, standards need to improve a lot in order to stay in the competition.

me and a friend went there last week to sit and eat in, i ordered chicken jalfrezy and wanted a medium spice, when i was eating it .. it was like a chicken vindaloo very very hot and spicy, lots and lots of small sliced up green chillies was in the curry, nearly blew my head off and my bottom was twiching like a rabbits nose the next day.

Worst take out ever. Having used this restaurant for over 20 years I thought I’d try the new owners - ordered mild food every dish came way too spicy and the new manager didn’t care. Manisky was very unhelpful and went out her way to tell me that she was the one in charge and wasn’t interested in what I had to say! Food returned and money not refunded. Won’t be using again!! Very dissatisfied and disappointed. Moreover she made point of telling me that she had no idea what was contained within each dish which begs the question about allergens. BEWARE WHEN ORDERING FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT.

Would dine in or get takeaway from here regularly. Never again. Change of management has made it for the worse. Our order was wrong and rather than providing a solution over the phone, we had to visit the restaurant to get it fixed. The person who answered the phone when we called to complain, was very rude and dismissive. Also, the portions have been reduced immensely.

I loved their south indian breakfast combo meal. The ambience is welcoming and the service is excellent. Definitely coming back and a must try one.

My wife and I tried a dinner out here (23rd May) and we are extremely happy about the food and overall experience. We tried some vegetarian options like veg biriyani and paneer dishes and parota with masala chai - all were excellent and up to the standards. We loved the atmosphere, so calm and relaxed, it was so nice for two of us to have some good quality time. The staff were so helpful and respectful. Highly recommended. Cheers!!

Well as we enter here,we had warm welcome by owner that makes us happy mood, we enter here seen that this is authentic North Indian cuisine,they serve alcoholic drinks here n we prefer fresh beers and papdum with lots of onion n chutney which we like munching with beer n after that straight went to mains,there are starters like onion bhaji,samosa it's all time favourites but we had mind to have vegi mains today, so far they had good chicken lamb dishes but usually when I know it's north Indian Panjabi cuisine my favourite dishes is Baigan Bharata,it's Arbergine is cooked in Tandoor a clay oven yes and it's a authentic test of Baigan Bharata and chilli garlic nan so no stopping just enjoy food really great and my friend had mix Vegetable Cafreal,it's Chef's Special so I tested what a pleasent test of that dish really I'm fan of food this restaurant served, meanwhile owner come n chat with us as I saw his friendliness some one couple pass by restaurant wave hand for him,we r sitting next to roadside view,Overall atmosphere here spendid, definitely we will visit here again with our friends there are plenty seats inside restaurant,had separate toilets for both genders, we park car over road,parking is not big issue here there plenty parking bays if u search for it, This was my review 2 months before Restaurant own by North Indian but now of my last visit to London a month back,my friends said to my this restaurant is resold to another management and one of my friend said now you don't have that quality as chef, management change everything changed so taste,it's what he said and we went to another restaurant for dinner, please confirm by responsible person and people visit you because what Abshar gave them before so try to get even more then you will get popularity, thanks

Had a king prawn masala from here which was the worst I ever tasted. To make matters worse it caused me violent food poisoning and diarrhea. Would urge anyone considering this place to steer clear. Can only assume the served prawns that had gone off

This Indian restaurant always exceeds my expectations with its truly authentic flavors that transports me back to India. The impeccable service only added to the experience. I have been here couple of times and ordered take away. Always a pleasure visiting. The pictures speak for itself and you can imagine the taste.

We had Indian food on Valentines day both Veg and Non-Veg, it was very tasty and the service was also good. 5 stars from our side.

Mixed Grill was disgusting it was totally dried out like it had been a few days old. My wife had the curry and was up half the night with an upset stomach. Waist of money.

As a customer, your complaint is not listened to, instead you are told that the chef is right. We ordered stuffed parathas and they had no stuffing. Thick atta flour with nothing in the paratha. I threw them in the bin. Description in menu is false.

Nice little place to eat only thing was it took like what felt forever to get the food and with young children that's not good but none the less food was great the rest of the service was great too, would I come here again? Yes, I would *update* I went back here recently with the family, and the food was a lot quicker this time round, so I have amended my review to reflect this as before the food and service were great 👍🏻

First time I went in here and got a takeaway. A matter paneer and a vegetable madras. It was very good. The curries were fantastic. Highly recommend

The food is good for an Indian Punjabi Cuisine as opposed to most Indian Restaurants who are run by Bengalis in the Uk .The food I feel a bit expensive for Barkingside. That's just my opinion from someone who is not South Asian.I have had similar food in EastEnd of London for a cheaper price and it was just as good in my opinion

Have been ordering food for years, placed an order today on the menu the food comes to £22 and called them for delivery and order over the phone they wanted £33 and the owner Jonny comes up with all the excuses it’s not my website some other company runs it… will never order from here again… I know times are hard but that’s taking the p…. Always check what you have ordered and compare it the there price menu!!! Or better still find another restaurant that does not try and con you!!!

The atmosphere is a bit more fancy than I usually... uh... fancy, but the food and service were very good. We went when it wasn't busy and ordered several different items, each got exactly what we wanted and more.

Very very poor. Service was atrocious, took forever to get anything. Food was bland and well below any standard, not sure how it’s open, maybe loyal locals. Guy flying around, literally, with food cart in what can only be described as supermarket sweep, in a restaurant. Finished meal next door, left after starters. Will not recommend or return. Garlic mushrooms, chaat, Mogo, all no, especially mushrooms!

Staff is very nice and provides excellent customer service. Food is amazing along with that the taste is very nice proper Indian taste and spices. I have tried chat papdi, tandoori chicken, garlic chicken with Nan and it’s really amazing.

Must have been a recent change of chef / management because the food has gone right down hill. Its too spicy, lacking in depth of flavour, and some of the starters are so unpleasant they're inedible. The guy who takes phone orders has no warmth. Its just rush rush rush to get your order. Such a pity. This used to be our favourite Indian restaurant. Now it's awful.

My whole family love this restaurant; the owner and staff are amazing. This is my autistic daughter’s one of her favourite restaurants. She is always warm welcomed by the staff; they look after her - my daughter is fussy and can easily get upset but staff make sure that she is comfortable. The food is excellent; for the brothers and sisters who are looking for something spicy then try their garlic chilli chicken. And for the mild lovers - the korma rocks. The place is clean and tidy and food prices are ok - not the cheapest though.

Ordered 8 curry yesterday for take away was not happy with the taste. Don’t get me wrong but they have made very tasty curry’s but it’s been a few times this has happened now, the curry’s are never the same which is a shame ordered 18/3/23.

First of all restaurant is fine n has good ambiance but the thing is the service pretty poor or I can say I had bad experience in this restaurant. Mainly the waiter who has Beard, he talks rubbish and literally insults the customers I'm still in flabbergasted state that how that restaurant owner is still Happy with this rubbish behavior and finally I don't recommend this kind of restaurant and this kind of terrible service. And the fun fact is even that waiter didn't have a pound in his pocket. I feel really pity for him..

We came last week for mums birthday.. 20 of us. Horrible food!! Kebabs and chicken tikka was very dry and came in a plate rather than a cast iron sizzler. No mint sauce either. Chillin chicken starter was very saucy and more like a main dish.. we paid around £400.. worst experience ever.. Will definitely stay away from this place…

We booked this venue for 40 people few weeks before the boxing day for my mum's glorious 70th. The restaurant did not ask for a deposit or anything although I was in constant touch and they kept reassuring that all is fine until they called me on the 24th Dec at 9.45pm to state that they will not be able to cater for us on the boxing day and claimed that I had not selected the dishes from the menu. However, I had called them earlier, only to be told that someone would call back. When they called back, I was told they will not be able to do it, and I pleaded with them that it's my mother's special birthday and all guests were informed. But this was to no avail and went on deaf ears and the manager/owner was very rude and offered no real explanation. I'll never book this place ever. If you do so, you must have a contract as these people seem completely unprofessional and zero customer service!

Terrible service. I wouldn't even give 1 star. I booked for a party and they cancelled me in the last minute without any credible explanation. I will not recommend this place to anyone especially if you are doing a group booking!

Nice restaurant, good sitting area and facility but bit tight sitting. Smiley welcoming staff, nice atmosphere and decor. Prompt ordering sevice. Good food but bit on mild side , not much vegetarian choice but managed and enjoyed

Food is fantastic. Owner of the restaurant is very polite. But I do not like their service, the person who was taking the order, wanted us to order everything in one shot. So, we ordered everything in one shot and end up eating cold food. We go to a restaurant to have a drink with some starters first and then order for the main course. But this did not happened. Customer does not have a choice but to order for food in one shot. Never had this kind of experience before.

Great place to get your proper punjabi food fix. It's very clean, really nice setting and the team are amazing really professional and kind. The value is amazing, the portions are very generous and the food taste amazing, and the prices are sensible. We got ordered sensible amount of food we were party of 5 and the food and as mentioned the protions of the dishes were so much we ended up packing it for takeaway. Family friendly restaurant. There's plenty of parking on the High Street and side roads. They also do takeaway which is great to see. Will definitely be back this place has just received a regular customer, it will be one of my go to places. Thanks to the Abshar team.

One of the best Indian restaurants around this side. Tasty food, fair prices and quick delivery. Don’t miss Stuffed baby aubergines, Chilli King prawns and Vegetable biryani. Highly recommend.

Will not ever return, poor service and far to much salt in food. More catered towards Europeans than Indians. Don't let the decor fool you. Also just threw up everything 🤮🤮

Love love love this place. Very accommodating for 10 of us 3 of which were crazy screming children!! We're regulars 😊 scrumptious food cooked the panjabi way. Very grateful for making our kids food to order. Fish & king prawns amazing! Lamb biryani delicious! Garlic, onion & chilli naan was a hit with us all. Even their delivery during lock down was up to restaurant standard. See you soon!

Best grilled food ever. We were in a rush and had a limited time to have dinner. The waiter was very attentive and ensured food was served. It is a shame I do not live in this local area as this would have become my local indian restaurant.

Spot on great food. Seriously best Indian I've been to in 30 years. Food so so tasty (I'm vegetarian) excellent waiter service. Not bad price. Will be going there again. I can tolerate the background music which, wasn't loud, but more a little annoying. Top marks for everything else though.

First time out since lockdown, had to say the staff were brilliant, making sure everyone was safe. Food was delicious, definitely will be back.

Best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. i have used the Abshah since 2010, I know the owners who are good people, friendly, kind and care about their customers. The food quality is excellent and consistent., never had a bad meal in a decade and that has to say something! So I'm going to give the Abshah top marks and well deserved. Well done team Abshah!

Ordered from here after a long time and I m quite surprised that food quality has taken a dive. I did call them to let them know that it is quite appalling.

First time going to this Restaurant 17 September. We were greeted with friendly staff. The food was absolutely amazing, everything cooked from fresh on site. Staff couldn't do enough for us. 5 stars all round. Cc can't wait to go back. Salivating already. 😁

This was one of the first restaurants to open for a sit down service after lockdown. They accepted either booking in advance or just a walk in request, but once people realised they are open, I guess it will get busier. I’ve been here before and it’s always been bustling. As soon as you walk in you are asked to hand sanitise and they ask for an address and phone number of one person. As always, there is a huge choice and the food is delicious. I like the fact that unlike other Indian restaurants in the area, these guys no not try and rush you off the table. I dined with my daughters and for the first time in ages, we all chilled and had to good conversation after the trauma of lockdown. Worth every penny. Already booked to visit again. Maximum people they allow in 10. But that might change with time.

However, I was not there for the frills of the service, I was there for the food. Amazing food! There lamb dishes ARE lamb - unlike the fake Indian Restaurants that use mutton, beef or whatever to pass as lamb. How do I know its lamb...well it is not tough or chewy plus it tastea like lamb! We had fried spicy mogo, onion bhaji, lamb tikka to start, followed by lamb buns, lamb Rogan Josh, lamb lahiri and prawn garlic tandoori. And naans. Hit the spot! Please fake Indian restaurants learn from this place. And thanks for 50% discount!

Me and my family have eaten from this place many times over the last few years as it is our local, and we have never been disappointed. Authentic Indian cuisine and in particular genuinely good Punjabi food. Read some of negative reviews and cannot disagree more, personally I have never had any problems with the food, attitude of staff or waiting times, cannot see what people are moaning about. Food tastes fresh and is cooked well, unlike other restaurants they ask you how spicy you want each dish and make it specifically for your requirements, as opposed to just pulling it out of pre-cooked pot they made earlier. Definitely worth a try even as a takeaway if you don't fancy sitting inside, the managers name is Johnny who is a nice friendly chap and will make you feel more than welcome.

We love this restaurant - we used to go a lot when we lived around the corner. Have now moved 8 miles away but still go back regularly as it knocks spots off our locals. The food is really wonderful, service can be a bit hit or miss but always friendly and the owner is a great host. Not sure why it is listed as being in Ilford as it's really in Barkingside.
