Stayed at the Abel's Harp it's a hotel decorated shabby chic and in the country, it also has Glamping huts we found the staff Julz And Dermo fantastic that's the main reason for the five stars,we also had a beautiful steak dinner on our first night the rooms are not massive but more than adequate and are on suite,we also had fun feeding the alpacas that belong to the hotel,We found Julz does everything from 1st thing in the morning till after 10 at night don't know what she's paid but she's worth every penny as she made our stay extra special,my suggestion to the hotel is to put on a fast food menu at a reasonable price especially for the glampers then many would stay in the hotel vicinity and not drive to nearby villages for food.

Found this a quirky but very confusing place:Didn’t start well on check in when we got half way through it but before getting the keys were moved aside so they could deal with some one else::: that continued throughout the two nights stay where we found the staff, while not rude just couldn’t be bothered. We were asked if we wanted to eat in the restaurant and if we wanted to upgrade to a cooked breakfast: (usual breakfast is a small croissant and jam left in a bag at the bedroom door around 10pm) yes to both evening at 7pm and we must be there at 8-30 am for breakfast: well the evening was ok, food good but they forgot our desert and the place emptied so we left it at that: breakfast however, we turned up at 8-30 to find the place in darkness with no one there:::: after knocking on a door we were told that no breakfast had been booked but if we wanted chef could do us one,...we left it as it seemed we were putting them out...The room was small but comfy & clean. There was no bin in the room only a tiny one in the bathroom which isn’t great; we had one small plastic cup for us both to drink from or use for cleaning your teeth which is crazy The alpacas are pretty cool and given great weather you could enjoy the hot tub - didn’t fancy the walk down the car park in me wet shorts myself..All in all this place is different but nice, don’t expect to much customer care and you’ll be fine. Shop around on wowcher etc for prices, try not to go direct as they use wish box which is a joke in my opinion

Stayed here. Checked in was given the shed night sky when we got there the bed hadn't been changed and there was tea in the cup and the room was really dark and depressing my husbabd wanted to leave. We walked back to reception and told the lady we didn't want to stay in there she apologised and gave us keys to treasure. Absolutely freezing it did however warm up with the heater and felt cosy they are sheds but they are ok inside the views were stunning. The only problems with this glamping is the toilets they are to far away there is no lighting so its pitch black and its very steep when walking back. We were not offered a torch luckily our phones have torches on. I'd also like to know which sheds are dog friendly as I have a few bite marks. Glad we went but we won't be returning could be a lovely place with a bit more thought and closer toilets

So many rules, regulations and penalties. Unhelpful rude staff.Mouldy, damp, cramped, outdated rooms and reception. Didnt bother staying even for the one night we had arranged. Left half an hour after check in.I can almost certainly say you will regret staying here. Despite lengthy, unnecessary producing of documents and proofs we have been refused a refund. They should be ashamed. I cant stress enough how rude and difficult they have been.

Afterwards tea on a quiet Monday afternoon. Lovely views over the south Shropshire hills. I had checked in previously to meet the covid virus track and trace details. Two of our party are vegitarians who were well catered for. Lovely scones and plentiful tea and coffee. Overall a really nice experience. Would I book another afternoon tea ? Yes certainly..

If you are staying in the glamping huts you have no choice but to eat here really as there are not many other pubs around, and you cannot self cater.Menu is very limited and expensive for what it was.Aside from meze boards, there were only 4 main choices (bangers and mash £12, vegan bangers and mash £10, steak £16, a donut burger £14).Bangers and mash- pretty sure it was instant mash (ITS SO EASY TO MAKE MASH!!! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT), nice sausages, very basic boiled peas £12A slightly strange burger - 2 donuts, meats, bbq sauce, chips £14The presentation of the food was nice, the staff were lovely, but very expensive food considering the quality. We also saw the chef bringing food bags in from the local supermarket...£11 for a double gin that was literally a £20 bottle of liqueor.

We used the Groupon voucher to visit for Afternoon Tea. Overall a really enjoyable experience. The food was lovely, and was presented beautifully. The views from the dining area over the hills were spectacular! Our waitress was very friendly, and made the effort to put all of our uneaten cakes and biscuits into a ‘doggy bag’ so we could take them home and enjoy them later. I would recommend this pub for anyone looking for a nice afternoon tea in a gorgeous vintage pub. If the management do read these reviews, i’d offer the following in the way of constructive criticism; Upon arrival there was no one in the bar, and after ringing the bell twice and waiting around 5 minutes, we had to walk through the building to try and find someone to seat us. Again, after our food was served, staff disappeared again and we could not find anyone to ask for a refill of our drinks.Additionally some of the crockery was a bit grubby. The unicorn teapots (as lovely as they are) were quite dusty on the top and had old tea stains underneath the spout. The spoons were quite badly watermarked and tarnished. All very minor things that didn’t effect the quality of our drinks, but things that we all noticed and commented on nonetheless. Thanks for a nice afternoon and thank you to our waitress who was very hospitable (when we could find her!)

I stayed here recently with my wife and our dog for two nights as a celebration of my recent birthday. We occupied the Sky room. We had a wonderful time. The owners are so very welcoming and the whole experience was very positive. We enjoyed our cosy room on what was a cold and overcast weekend with fog and drizzle. The lounge is a great place to relax with a drink and to chat with the other residents. We dined in on both nights and thoroughly enjoyed our meals on both occasions. Meals were served promptly at the time we agreed, and the dishes were well presented and plentiful. The menu provides plenty of choice for meat-eaters and for vegetarians/vegans alike. I can honestly say that we really experienced a wonderful time here and will certainly return again. Thank you to the team at Abel’s Harp for providing us with such a memorable experience.

Very unwelcoming owner with an odd attitude towards customers. We followed a published pub walk, parking as advised at Abel’s Harp, planning to stop for drinks and food on our return. Left four cars tightly parked to minimise space in their (empty) carpark, and set off on a circular walk, only to find the owner intercepted us on our walk (having gone looking for us in her car!) telling us to move our cars in a very abrupt manner. There is no signage to indicate any parking rules or restrictions. We duly moved our cars, and indeed our custom, elsewhere. We’ll not be back.

Personally I loved this hotel. Very quirky and kooky and in a lovely quiet part with beautiful surroundings The hotel staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us when we stayed and we also braved the cold on both nights to use the hot tub which was an added bonus Took a day and went into the town centre which was about 30 mins drive away and was surprised how full of shops it was We stayed in the actual hotel and not the glamping pods. but the hotel was lovely warm and friendly Our room was lovely as was our bathroom nothing to complain about We had a 3 course meal on the first night and food was excellent for us.We would have no issue recommending this hotel at all

If you want to spend your weekend sleeping on a broken bed in a below average room go here .if not I suggest you look at premier inn .Couldnt use the so called jacuzzi cause it's filthy and the glamping pods are basically sheds ! Better save your money for somewhere else cause this place is a con! We arrived early and were told we couldn't check in until 3.30 no offer of a drink or use of the rest room .so we waited in the car .A bad smell in the upstairs of the hotel and the toilets downstairs need a good clean.I don't eat fruit so the fruit in a bag for breakfast was not good. Fruit with a cheap pan au chocolate and a strange cookie thing. we ended up going to a local Cafe for a breakfast .We will no return here .

Dinner was OK but had to wait for the rest of my chips and my pudding had very cheap, Tesco value custard, not nice!We had only one all shampoo and conditioner in our room, there are 2 of us and one bath towel, no soap! The room is OK but a bit tired and a hair dryer would've been nice too. We went to go to breakfast to find a bag outside our door with a cheap choc croissant and couple of muffins and fruit, nobody downstairs no tea, coffee etc, cereal, toast was said in the eve but nothing available.... I'll try & be constructive - stayed for one night & immediately got the impression something was not quite right- firstly we were thrust the evening meal menu & asked to pre-order & at what time - the same for the following mornings breakfast. The evening meal was terribly poor, waited over an hour for an underwhelming mushroom starter, then the fish fillet, cleary out of a box & triangular in shape was dry & cold at the thick end

The hotel is really off the beaten track, anyone looking to get away from it all this is the place. It is only a small hotel, 5 rooms I think all with names, we stayed in the Garden Room, and they have 8 glamping pods. It is definitely unique. With it being so small people mix and chat and enabled people to get to know each other, it made for a very friendly atmosphere in the bar of an evening.

Booked direct with Abels Harp. First impressions were not good. Looked like the window at the front was boarded up with a Abels Harp sign. Room was tiny and shabby. Had a problem changing channels on TV, Remote not working tried batteries but nothing. We arrived about 3ish, When asked about food,I was told the restaurant was booked for that evening and that it was a 7.5 mile trip to the nearest place we could get food from. When we got back after visiting a lovely pub call the Lowfield and nice food, with accomodation, I wandered into the restaurant to see that only 2 tables for 2 people had been set out, one for quarter past 7 ine for half past 7, so why he could not cater for 2 more people baffled me somewhat. No food or drinks were allowed in your rooms, and the bar closed at 9.30pm. Certainly will not be staying there again. Shame really, because we were looking forward to the stay.If I ran that place I would certainly do it much differently and spruce the place up. Old chairs in the garden area that one had a wedding ribbon tied round it that looked like it had been on there for ages. A bike leaning on a tall bird table that had pushed it back into the bushes. All little things like that that would make a difference to how people may look at the place.

My friend booked a hotel room through groupon in October 2016 for 20th February for two nights. She subsequently booked a second room direct so that the hotel could save costs . The dates were changed to 21st/22nd February with the hotels approval. Then it appears that the management of the hotel changed hands and Simon took over. He claims to have sent an email saying the accomodation had been changed to CHALETS. Having stayed in many CHALETS around the world they are usually better appointed than hotel rooms with a more private location. However we had not picked up on this unsolicited change. When we arrived having travelled over 100 miles we were told there were no hotel rooms available and we were booked into the CHALETS. On further investigation the CHALETS turned out to be small single room wooden huts without toilets or running water. The youngest in our party was 67 and the oldest 72 and sleeping in a small hut in the middle of February with no facilities did not appeal.

Visited regularly for a fortnight. Much depended on the Barista on duty. On occasions the coffee was excellent but on occasions it was average and on one occasion unacceptable. Toilets were often of dubious cleanliness.Too often seats were taken by older clientele who seemed determined to make a cup last for ages so they could chat to their regular friends for an unreasonable duration.

The staff were extremely accommodating, we had called up and booked a table for seven adults and two dogs that morning, however when we arrived there was no spaces available in the bar area (dog friendly zone). They were very apologetic, and quickly and promptly they got us seated in the restaurant area (after checking that the other clients were happy with two dogs and no-one was allergic). I thought this was extremely professional of the team. After being seated, we had Sunday lunch - which was gorgeous, definitely recommend. A friend, who frequently visits GreeneKing restaurant establishments, commented that Two Henry's food was the best they'd tasted. We will be coming back again - I really like that this place has dog friendly areas inside, as food is lovely to have after a dog walk at Houghmond Hill.
