I love the curry from here. I ordered takeaway last night and received the wrong starter, and the salad was missing from the kebab. I phoned, and the guy on the phone was really polite and said they’d deliver the missing items, but nothing ever arrived. It seems like a one-off, so I’d probably go back, but I thought I’d pass it along. We enjoyed the curry regardless, and the price is reasonable.

The meat was old hard and dry, in the curry was rock hard but the tikka meal was poor aswell ! Disappointed normally get a good meal from abbeys don't know why it's been poor last 2 times ! I always recommend this place aswell !

love our curries,starters, nans etc from here and the Tandoori Cocktail is excellent value for money. I only put 4 for atmosphere because we're in and out so quick for collections as the food is always ready for the time they say. communication via email are spot on

Shame the place doesn't show any respect towards customers. Everything so expensive for small portions. Do not recommend at all, unless you're ready for an argument with staff.

For me to pay £4 for a kebab ( which consists of one strand of donner in a small wrapped bread ) is beyond a joke.

Food is very expensive, the portion size is ridiculously small. Came cold and when I phoned up to complain, the rude person at the other end decided to shout stupid remarks at me then hung up. Do not order.

Very disappointed with our meal. The only decent thing was the chicken tikka. The samosas were just like bread dough, not like a thin pastry as should be, and less than a tea spoon of filling. The peshawari naan was far too sweet, almost tasted like marzipan. The rice was bland and the garlic was burned. Nearly £40 down the drain on poorly made food of which hald ended up in the bin. We won't recommend or return.

Ordered Bombay chips and I got normal chips that were hard. The curry had no spice to it, very bland. Used Abbeys for years, I’ll not be going back.

One of the best currys we have had delivered in the North East for a long time! We usually order from Ocean Road however glad we didn’t as Abbey’s blew us away. Will definitely be our new regular. Thanks :)

The meal did not taste right the chicken had a sour taste only bits of it! I wasn’t well yesterday so can only put it down to that. I get a curry nearly every Friday night! It won’t stop me ordering but won’t have the chicken.

Had a few dishes from Abbeys. They’ve all been absolutely delicious, delivered in good time and piping hot. Good sized portions. We request extra garlic on nann bread and it’s always acknowledged. Delivery drivers are all friendly too.

really disappointed,the samosas were soft and chewy with a thick pastry and a tablespoon of mince mixture inside,the curry didn’t have a lot of flavour and the mango chutney was just a red purée

Usually our go to takeaway however, chicken was chewy, rice was very watery and soggy and the food was cold despite being on time for collection.

Excellent we will definitely be ordering from here again.

Had I looked properly at delivery time I'd of collected, almost two hours is a bit long, it was worth the wait though thoroughly enjoyed it, HOWEVER £5.50 for 7 chicken nuggets is absolutely shocking , certainly won't be buying those again !

Lovely food arrived early and nice and hot

Honestly I don't even care that the food was late as sometimes Abbey's only has 1 driver on at times. Their food is unreal and we all love it and it comes to something when we all agree there's no other Indian takeaway restaurant we'll go to in the future. Thank you again for the food and your driver is class

Abbeys is the best Indian takeaway in the north east. People come from South Shields now because they used to have ab Abbeys there but sadly they can no longer run two of them. They also deliver through the pedestrian tunnel to Walker and Wallsend! The Balti curry and balti naan is excellent. No ill effects ever, don't know how they do it.

I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN Ordered a takeaway 26.50 Paid for spicy chips got normal chips paid for bhuna prawn on purée 6 tiny little prawns and it was all onion Shri lanka tasted like a vindaloo and the nan bread had the smallest amount of Keema in it the rice was in a small carton and it was spot the keema wHt a waist of my money there was no flavor to it made in the cheapest way

I put my full curry in the bin as the chicken was undercooked in it. Have used this curry shop quite a few times and never had this problem. Safe to say I will never use again or recommend!

First time ordering from Abby's. Food arrived 1 hour late. However the delivery driver was very apologetic & very nice. The quality of the food made up for the wait. It arrived piping hot & absolutely delicious. Abby's will definitely be my go to place when I fancy Indian food.

Been our go to, since moving back to within their delivery catchment area. Lovely food, really excellent people and one issue in last two yrs... promptly sorted without a problem. One slight negative... chicken has been getting a little sparse, only noticed on last order. Likely a one off... but still going back. They continue to do the late Abbey proud!

Abby’s food 100% staff 100% just eat delivery absolutely 0% I would recommend using Abby’s own app to order I’m now deleting the just eat app off my phone because of this but Abby’s is still my number one choice for Indian food. And just eat were an hour late but it won’t let me put the time in for some strange reason but Abby’s takeaway in hebburn sorted my order out so thank you to Abby’s and definitely not thank you to just eat

A bit disappointed with tandoori king prawns, they are usually lovely, but were cold and soggy, didn’t taste like they came out of a clay oven and at £8.20 Won’t be ordering them again. The Chicken Tikka Masala however was lovely as usual.

Went to collect food. Got home and Bombay chips were missing (main reason I ordered was for these chips). Rang to let them know and they said they’d send some out. They Never came. Rest of food was just ok, used to be banging. Will try somewhere else next time.

Best Indian takeaway in the northeast

Only had 2 mouthfuls. The chicken tasted old. I’ve had good ones before but this time it’s a NO from me.

I ordered a takeaway beef curry, nut pilau , a nann bread. There was enough meat, but the sauce had little taste. The rice was dry. The nann bread was nice. Delivery was excellent. Apart from the nann, 3verything else wasn't my taste, so I won't be using them again.

Food was lovely, everything really nice, curry was ok but a little bit on the bland side taste wise (chicken madras) everything is was superb and overall really high quality food, definitely more expensive than a lot of Indian takeaways though which wasn't great. Can't fault the delivery time or driver. Would probably order again.

Food was terrible bombay chips just normal nan bread had not even a quarter of meat eat in wont be ordering from again.

Not the best takeaway I've had, starts over cooked (burnt) the prawn starter was very bland with lots of onions and not many prawns. The main of chicken tikka garlic chilli was OK at best, chips were hard and undercooked almost white, the vegetable rice was bland as well. First time trying this takeaway coming recommend by friends. I won't be listening to them again if this is supposed to be one of the best around, not a great experience and won't be going again. As for the reply from the owner that "this is your opinion " Yes it is and as a paying customer I have the right to give an honest opinion which I did. No comment in the way of an apology or how could we do better next time.

Always excellent food from this establishment. The tastiest in Hebburn and Jarrow as I've tried most of them and not found any as good as this. Quick delivery and Always arrives hot. Highly recommended.
