Always go here but tonight was a horror. Two and half hour wait for food. Finally get food and it wasn't what was requested. Stone cold and taste was non existent. Shocking!!

Ordered at 8pm, delivery between 21.10-21.50. It’s now 22.32. Slightly hangry now. If or when it arrives we’ll have it tomorrow. Too tired now. Peanut butter on toast it is. Quality is rated on my toast.

2.5 hours wait time is unacceptable. Ordered at 8pm arrived at 10.30pm. I was tired and ready for bed by the time it arrived that I couldn’t enjoy the food properly.

We ordered from Abbey’s for the first time yesterday, as we’d recently moved into the area. I had the chicken korma with boiled rice and it was delicious, the chicken was tender and the korma was sweet and light. My partner had the chicken dupiaza with pilau rice, he said it was really tasty and not spicy. The flavours were balanced and he throughly enjoyed it. He says he might try something spicer the next time we order. We both shared some onion bhajis, poppadoms and vegetable pakoras. The portions are large so you certainly get your moneys worth. We ended up putting some of the food in tupperware containers, to have later on. The service inside the shop was great, it was comfortable and warm as we waited to collect our food. The lady on the phones was very polite and efficient. Overall it was a great meal, we ordered way too much considering the potion sizes, but it’ll not go to waste. The value for money was excellent. I am always very anxious about trying new places but I needn’t have worried! We will certainly be ordering from Abbey’s again 🙂

Arrived 5 minutes before pre-scheduled delivery time but we were starving by then so it was very well received. Quality was great, my partners a picky eater when it comes to takeaways and he’s looking forward to ordering from here again, as am I, both very much enjoyed our meals.

No taste so bland very disappointed

on the options for curry wraps and cartons of curry sauce it states any curry, but then only plain curry is an option. however i did ask for a madras sauce instead which was fine. however i had ordered a chicken curry wrap and the wrap came with madras sauce and no chicken 😅. Food still tasted great though 👌. Would maybe be handy if all curry options were available on the menu not just plain.

I love the curry from here. I ordered takeaway last night and received the wrong starter, and the salad was missing from the kebab. I phoned, and the guy on the phone was really polite and said they’d deliver the missing items, but nothing ever arrived. It seems like a one-off, so I’d probably go back, but I thought I’d pass it along. We enjoyed the curry regardless, and the price is reasonable.

The meat was old hard and dry, in the curry was rock hard but the tikka meal was poor aswell ! Disappointed normally get a good meal from abbeys don't know why it's been poor last 2 times ! I always recommend this place aswell !

love our curries,starters, nans etc from here and the Tandoori Cocktail is excellent value for money. I only put 4 for atmosphere because we're in and out so quick for collections as the food is always ready for the time they say. communication via email are spot on

Shame the place doesn't show any respect towards customers. Everything so expensive for small portions. Do not recommend at all, unless you're ready for an argument with staff.

For me to pay £4 for a kebab ( which consists of one strand of donner in a small wrapped bread ) is beyond a joke.

I pre ordered delivery over 2 hours prior to delivery time but it was still 25 minutes late

Very disappointed with our meal. The only decent thing was the chicken tikka. The samosas were just like bread dough, not like a thin pastry as should be, and less than a tea spoon of filling. The peshawari naan was far too sweet, almost tasted like marzipan. The rice was bland and the garlic was burned. Nearly £40 down the drain on poorly made food of which hald ended up in the bin. We won't recommend or return.

Food is very expensive, the portion size is ridiculously small. Came cold and when I phoned up to complain, the rude person at the other end decided to shout stupid remarks at me then hung up. Do not order.

One of the best currys we have had delivered in the North East for a long time! We usually order from Ocean Road however glad we didn’t as Abbey’s blew us away. Will definitely be our new regular. Thanks :)

The meal did not taste right the chicken had a sour taste only bits of it! I wasn’t well yesterday so can only put it down to that. I get a curry nearly every Friday night! It won’t stop me ordering but won’t have the chicken.

Ordered Bombay chips and I got normal chips that were hard. The curry had no spice to it, very bland. Used Abbeys for years, I’ll not be going back.

Had a few dishes from Abbeys. They’ve all been absolutely delicious, delivered in good time and piping hot. Good sized portions. We request extra garlic on nann bread and it’s always acknowledged. Delivery drivers are all friendly too.

really disappointed,the samosas were soft and chewy with a thick pastry and a tablespoon of mince mixture inside,the curry didn’t have a lot of flavour and the mango chutney was just a red purée

Usually our go to takeaway however, chicken was chewy, rice was very watery and soggy and the food was cold despite being on time for collection.

Had I looked properly at delivery time I'd of collected, almost two hours is a bit long, it was worth the wait though thoroughly enjoyed it, HOWEVER £5.50 for 7 chicken nuggets is absolutely shocking , certainly won't be buying those again !

Lovely food arrived early and nice and hot

Honestly I don't even care that the food was late as sometimes Abbey's only has 1 driver on at times. Their food is unreal and we all love it and it comes to something when we all agree there's no other Indian takeaway restaurant we'll go to in the future. Thank you again for the food and your driver is class

Abbeys is the best Indian takeaway in the north east. People come from South Shields now because they used to have ab Abbeys there but sadly they can no longer run two of them. They also deliver through the pedestrian tunnel to Walker and Wallsend! The Balti curry and balti naan is excellent. No ill effects ever, don't know how they do it.

I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN Ordered a takeaway 26.50 Paid for spicy chips got normal chips paid for bhuna prawn on purée 6 tiny little prawns and it was all onion Shri lanka tasted like a vindaloo and the nan bread had the smallest amount of Keema in it the rice was in a small carton and it was spot the keema wHt a waist of my money there was no flavor to it made in the cheapest way

I put my full curry in the bin as the chicken was undercooked in it. Have used this curry shop quite a few times and never had this problem. Safe to say I will never use again or recommend!

First time ordering from Abby's. Food arrived 1 hour late. However the delivery driver was very apologetic & very nice. The quality of the food made up for the wait. It arrived piping hot & absolutely delicious. Abby's will definitely be my go to place when I fancy Indian food.
