Hadn’t had a takeaway from abbeys for a couple of years. Far too much cumin in the meal. Totally spoilt it. Went in the bin.

Consistently excellent. Great value with their special box, probably their best item. Only thing missing from it is like a yoghurt to go with the curry pot to manage the spice, but still its unreal regardless.

Always go to abbeys .never again. Had chicken jalfrezi last nite. Was disgusting. Chicken was vile. Me and my partner havnt been off the toilet. Don't know if it was just a one off but won't be going back. Put me off curry for good

Staff curry “boring and tasteless” chicken was stringy and tough the popadoms floppy had no crisp at all garlic nan dry however the garlic rice was nice. Nothing special would I order again NO

Used these often and never had a problem but today ordered the meat feast special very disappointed with the quantity compared to similar offers only my wife and me had it and never get it again

Had madras from there last night omg never again the chicken was tougher than a boot sole what has happened yous to be a nice curry sorry but won't order from here again it was shocking

Top Indian takeaway probably the best in South Shields. Always delivered quick and often give extra poppadoms. Only fault is the nan breads are always burnt in the bottom, all other food is top quality.

Just had our first meal from abbey's all i can say best i have ever tasted husband sed so too its our 46th wedding anniversary today and decided to just have curry at home with some wine was told to try abbey's so glad we did a beautiful meal together our special day thanks for a beautiful meal

I've tried a few different curries from abbey's and can't fault them, fast delivery and top scran

First time I’ve used this place. Decent enough. However. They didn’t send the rathia and mint sauce which we paid for. Very disappointed. And won’t use again because of this. Common problem with Indian takeaways in South Shields. It happens every single time. Every single time they forget something. So not just this one. Feels deliberate to me.

FALSE ADVERTISING! Ordered a meal from here which was stated on the menu as a meal deal for £15.95 to be charged just under £30 followed instructions from their website to be told it was only on, on a Thursday and sunday i told the guy on the phone what it states on his menu online in big red bold letters TODAYS it is saturday i left the comment in the comments as requested ( as a food place worker i would of called and explained before sending the food out giving the customer time to change or accept ) he had nothing to say bar read the menu! To which i repeated what it says on his menu to be met with nothing! Driver was lovely the food and this is not because of the issue it is a true reflection on what we ate its rather bland we would say a 4/10 from us. We wont be returning.

Always use Abbeys had another taxi special last night..We have changed to to having a there Taxi special Chicken Tikka and Pilea Rice it's lovely ❤️

Spice box's are really nice And their chicken tikka naga jal jul is my fave as get a good kick from the naga. Lamb tikka is also worth trying

Best Indian in south tyneside by a country mile. We had stopped getting Indian takeaways as so many the taste and quality wasn’t there, abbeys Eastenders has got us right back into them. We get set menu special, it offers amazing value, the mixed kebab starter is perfectly cooked and comes with a onion Bhaji. I like parathas and there was literally no takeaways cooking them properly we’re at abbeys they crisp and perfectly done wrapped in tin foil keeping them crisp, it’s all the little things that stands them out from the rest. Staff are lovely too, accommodating and friendly. See you next Saturday!

This is a first-time we've ever used this takeaway as we only found it by looking for a takeaway shop on goggle to have a nice meal, we where very dubious because we hadn't hear of it before but OMG it was the best curry we've had in years even been most of the curry restaurants on ocean Rd.

Visited a few weeks ago, the young lad has the job boxed off, they made me a curry just to keep taste, waited in the car for it ( through choice ) and he even brung it out to the car... the service was fantastic just made me feel really welcome and they were thankful for the business! Love it when passion is passed down a family like this!

Use Abbey take away all the time, fresh hot 🔥 and normally on time, I've only had two complaints in years of using them , once they missed the chips, and once they mixed the pelaw rice instead of chilli rice ! But tbh that could of been my fault!! Thier food otherwise is flipping amazing 👏 😋

I hate leaving a bad review but I can only be honest,This curry house was recommended to me and i was gutted it was Terrible kurma was like water. I ordered king prawn plain curry how the hell they can mess up a plain curry I'll never know but they did I tasted the sauce and it was disgusting can't really describe it but it was rank, because I wouldn't eat it I took it for my mother in law to try and she was actually sick.not sure if it was soap it tasted of but was something chemically.Maybe it was a one off was first time I used them. On the plus side food came nice and hot just wish it had been edable.

Ordered from here for the first time tonight and wow the food was amazing. Customer service was spot on. 10/10 would recommend and will be ordering again.

Ordered a mixed nan bab, bombay aloo tonight delivered within 30 mins absolutely top notch hot tasty food, we will not go anywhere else now x big round of applause for Abbeys x

Never have I been served with a more disgusting curry in my life, onion bhaji was as hard as a cricket ball, accompanying salad limp, chips size of golf balls and obvious reheats, curry sauce edible, chicken ok, keema man disgusting, I used to use this takeaway but not anymore, the bin loved it.

this place has the best food in south sheilds . all the lads are sound . chef comes out every now and then to greet you .. ive tried nearly all the currie houses within a 5 mile radius . and keep going back there .. ya won't be dissapointed . robbie

Orders were always wrong and always late one of our dips was off rang to explain but they said it had been made fresh that day. even the delivery driver thought it was off.

We're regulars to here. Love the place. Friendly staff. Never a bad meal. Flexi meals are a bargain. Chicken Tikka Pathia with Punjabi Pilau for the win!
