Great little spot with friendly staff and good home cooked food. Opted for the bigger breakfast and was impressed with the quality of the ingredients. Great vibe in the seating area and very handy as close to town centre. Decent value for money and set us up for the day.

Had read this place did gluten free so stopped in before some sightseeing. Very disappointed. They only do gluten free meals. I asked about snacks or cakes but absolutely nothing available. This is strange because they have gluten free bread and could easily do a sandwich. So I sat sadly with a drink whilst my husband ate. Needless to say we won’t be returning.

Our visit here was unexpectedly brilliant! We came as a family and had a range of dishes from pizza, to all day breakfast to toasties and soup. Everything was beautifully cooked and very delicious. The portions were huge - enough that we took pizza home and had it for lunch the next day. What a find! We’ll definitely be back - if I could rate more than 5 stars I would.

We were seated by the young waitress and we Sat and waited to order, the two waitress served four lots of take away coffees before us then another couple came in and sat down went to counter and asked for two lattes which were promptly made and taken to their table, we sat and we sat, neither waitress came to take our order and one collected milk from the counter and took to the kitchen, never given us eye contact even!!! The weekend staff are much more pleasant and have never been ignored here before.

I arrived fresh off the Borders Abbey Way having spent the day running and was offered some water immediately along with a seat - I must have looked in dire need of it, but this was very much welcomed on a hot day. I enjoyed a lovely lunch of a very cheesy sourdough toastie and observed the young man who had been so kind on my arrival showing the same care and attention to other customers. A real credit to the establishment. Thank you.

We stopped here on our way through Jedburgh to somewhere further north in Scotland. What a gem of a cafe. They had a range of gluten free options; I had a huge slice of gluten free coffee and walnut cake. The lady who served us was knowledgeable about my dietary needs as a Coeliac too which makes a lovely change to the usual service revived in other coffee shops. My husband (who can eat normal food) got a lovely looking waffle and ice cream). And to boot I had a tea pot that didn’t leak - flipping fabulous :) I would 100% recommend this place.

We arrived at 4.39 at the carry out kiosk (when the closing time is 5pm) “Are you closing?” Hostile glare. “We are in to process of closing” All we wanted was carry out coffees but were treated to an outrageous display of unco-operative rudeness. Dirty looks when we asked if they had any cakes. No. This was the rudest waitress I have ever met. I note with interest that recent reviews have said much the same thing. Coffee pretty grim. We popped in on the way to Northumberland. The room was freezing, not a great advert from a combined cafe and stove show room, but sadly the giant stove in the cafe part was off. The reception was equally frosty, and after seeing a worse fate for later visitors I guess it was because we dared ask for food half an hour before they stop serving it. Average food and drink, poor reception and freezing shed like setting. I'm guessing they don't have to try so close to the abbey.

On the way home from a little staycation down south, we pulled over at the cafe to feed our baby. Unfortunately the cafe was just about to close and the ladies there (Brenda and Susan) were going home for the day. They asked what it was I needed and I explained we were just looking for a quick pit stop to feed the baby and grab a cuppa. I was happy to go on my way, but they happily offered to heat up the little ones food and make us some tea for the road, which was exceptionally kind of them after a busy day in the cafe I'm sure! We passed on the tea not wanting to put them out anymore, but the offer itself was just so kind and appreciated. We left with a fed and happy baby. I just want to say a massive thank you ladies, you were both so kind to help us out, it was so lovely of you both!

Myself & a group of very wet & soggy bikers turned up at this fantastic coffee house, & were given 1st class service & a very warm welcome by their excellent staff! The cafe part was cosy with a beautiful fire burning, it was immaculate inside with a counter full of lovely looking cakes & snacks. The staff were so helpful with all our jackets & helmets, clearing space for us so things could dry off a little bit & so we could relax & enjoy - which we did immensely! The tea & coffee were perfect & the array of cakes, buns & snacks that we tried between us were absolutely delicious - perfect to get us through a few more hours of wet & windy riding miles ahead! The stove centre inside was brilliant too, so well put together & they looked great quality, along with all the accessories that were also on display to buy aswell.Overall, we had an excellent time here, we would highly recomend you visit, i can only imagine that on a dry day, sitting outside looking at the Abbey would be great, but sitting inside & receiving such a genuinely warm welcome was the perfect tonic for us! On arrival in your cafe we were greeted by an older lady she just said “hello” and started to clear tables. Me and my family took a seat after not being acknowledged properly and had to wait 10 minutes before being asked if we would like a menu. We have visited your cafe before and had a much better experience with another waitress. When the food arrived some of our order was wrong, the cook (who was much better at communicating with us) had to bring us our cutlery as the older lady waitressing had not done beforehand. Our food, although most of the order was wrong (we could see the cook was mortified by this), was delicious. After the food arrived we waited 5 minutes for our drinks to arrive even though we’d asked specifically for them to come when our food came. For us we thought the waitress was very rude and didn’t apologise for her mistakes on the food and drink orders. My partner has worked in this trade for many years and had said to me that he’d only seen anyone as rude a couple of times in the long time he’s been working in this industry. He also noticed she wasn’t wearing appropriate footwear for the job. And to add to all the wrong orders and rudeness our hot drinks were not up to standard. The same cook as mentioned before took our payment from us after we had finished with everything and treated us so much better than the waitress did. We stood at the counter for a few minutes waiting to pay but the waitress was no where to be seen hence why we had to ask the cook to come from the kitchen to take our payment. We’d love to come back for the food as it was delicious but in our opinion the problem was the waitress.

We were looking for somewhere that was open at nine o’clock and this was it. Pretty small. Also had a takeaway window. Good latte, cappuccino and Americano. The hot chocolate was superb and the rocky road was also very good. A welcome place to wait until the abbey opened.

Sat for 10 minutes without any menus or acknowledgement. On standing up to leave (we had 2 small children with us) just told it was busy. Wait a minute! There are about 10 tables and at least 3 staff we saw. Hopeless. Do not visit. Do not use. Pathetic.

We visited here for breakfast twice. Both times, the food was delicious and freshly prepared. We also tried the cakes, which are definitely worth a visit. Thanks

Really nice, friendly cafe. Not big, probably about 20 covers. Breakfast was great, place is cosy and they have a takeaway service too. Lots of amazing looking cakes but not for breakfast unfortunately! Definitely recommend if your visiting Jed

Nice friendly staff. Lovely backdrop to the Abbey and it also has a take away if the main cafe has closed! Just off the main A 68 route so popular.

Stopped here for tea, coffee and snacks while on our way to Edinburgh. Pleasant staff with very clean and uniquely decorated accommodations. The cakes we tried were delicious. It can't be missed as it the first place to stop with a view of the old abbey.

Stopped in for an early bite to eat with the children. Had to clean the water off the outdoor seating. Not a big issue but might have thought the staff would be keen to do this so that people did not turn away. Food was good (paninis very good, scones average). Coffee I would give a 3 but that is down to individual taste. Service a bit slow - forgot the scones. Coffee arrived and was drunk well before the food arrived. I don't mind waiting for food as it is all part of the experience but it should come at the same time.

Reasonable food which is just as well as the service was really slow. Only one person taking a tables order then putting the order through to the kitchen before doing the same for the next table, then the next one. Not what you would expect.

Came here with 6 family and friends. All of us had a fabulous main and starter. The food was roasting hot and absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly. Would absolutely recommend!

Stopped in for some lunch today. Friendly service with a good and varied choice of menu. Offers half portions of meals if more suitable. Brilliant value. Hot and cold options available. Felt like the teapot was bottomless, think it was 3 cupfuls in total!

A weekend away in the Scottish Borders led to us unexpectedly finding this wonderful restaurant in the Yarrow Valley today. It was one of the best Sunday roasts we’ve had in years (delicious local beef and pork) and a seriously tempting menu focussed around local ingredients by Bryn Jones. The honey cake for dessert by @she.likesbaking was also incredible and I’ve only just realised that Oxana Jones is not only a wonderful front-of-house host, but also an extremely talented baker. Thank you to your team, it was a memorable lunch and we’ll definitely be back for one of your tasting menus and an overnight stay.

Booked a table for Easter Sunday thinking it would be busy but it was surprisingly quiet. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating (jokingly wanted to steal our Easter eggs). The food was sensational and they didn't skimp on the portions. The mussel dish that arrived as one of the starters took two people to eat.
