I have to say the service was great. But, with an option of only 5 main courses and 1 vegetarian option, the choice is very limited here. This is part of a hotel. Imagine staying here for a few days and being vegetarian having to eat the same thing every night. Not cheap either for what you get. The website suggests a special dining experience with fresh season food, some of which is picked from the gardens but I very much doubt this to be true! Very disappointing

On 17th January I booked a meal for 2 here for the 20th August. I understand things can change but to start trying to ring me at 2.30pm on 20th August to cancel me is totally and utterly disorganised. I was travelling on that day, it's a Saturday and that's when my holiday began. On arrival at 4.30pm I got my message to ring and found out my booking at 7pm was cancelled due to a 'function'. I think we all know it wasn't booked that afternoon! I understand you would change your plans during the year but for god's sake ring me in plenty of time and try to be apologetic! Not impressed at all with your actions. I will never visit you. Thank god for my wonderful hamper provided by the cottage and also that it wasn't my Birthday meal - my Birthday was the day before that!

The Bistro has a fairly limited menu at the moment and the Specials are the same every day . I guess the staff shortage is causing a few problems .

Food was very good and freshly prepared, service from staff was attentive and they all seemed pleasant. Lovely setting, just across from Dryburgh Abbey on one side and the River Tweed on another side.

We had 2 meals here on consecutive nights, There's a good range of food to meet all tastes and it was all delicious. The service could have been better, there was definitely a longer wait for food on the Friday as it was busier but this did not bother us, but I believe there was a problem in the kitchen, so this may not be representative of a usual night here. We'd visit again if in the area.

We had two evening meals in this restaurant. The dining was in the bar area and it was nice to have a drink before sitting at the table. The room was spacious with open doors to the patio area. We chose this as it was a very hot evening and it was very airy and comfortable. Again the staff were very nice and friendly.

We arranged to meet up with our family for lunch as they were visiting the area. The staff were helpful and set up a big table for us. Service and drinks were fine but the food was uniformly dreadful. We had baked potatoes that must have been re-baked a dozen times as they were inedible. The cheese platter (ploughman's lunch by any other name was) dried out and the cheese and meat platter was equally disappointing. The children had soup that was accompanied by triangles of white sliced bread. We did not complain because it was a family lunch out and nobody wanted to make a fuss but it was extremely disappointing.

The food was pretty good, the service was slightly less so and there was not a great selection on the menu, but we were very hungry and liked the patio. It was only lunch after all!

We had great difficulty in choosing what to eat because the menu had a great selection. What we did have was excellent. This is a good place for dinner even if you are not staying in the hotel.

We booked in for a meal as we were staying at the hotel and I have to admit it didn't get off to best of starts. 20 minutes is an unreasonable time to wait for someone to come to our table. The waitress seemed to be more interested in chatting to someone on another table whom she obviously knew. Even though she glanced at us more than a few times, she was in no hurry to even offer a drink. However on the other side, the service was very friendly and the atmosphere very calming. Our food came piping hot and extremely tasty and at no time were we rushed. I was unable to manage dessert and was feeling a little unwell (nothing to do with the food) and had to go back to my room. The waitress put our cheese and biscuits on a covered plate and brought it to our room so we could have it later. I would like to see service on arrival improved a bit but otherwise a lovely place to eat and definitely did not break the bank.

Dinner at the Abbey Bistro was scrumptious. Young waitresses were being trained the night we were there so there were a couple of wee hiccups but nothing that a bit of patience wouldn't sort out! We all have to start somewhere and were showered with...

Fantastic soup and sandwich lunch combo with a glass of wine or a beer. All four of our party opted for this after a hard morning's fishing on the river tweed outside the hotel - it was outstanding. Staff were fantastic.

The food n the bistro was very good and the outlook over the river was lovely and peaceful. Service was also good. If there is a slight criticism it is the height of the chairs. They are too low for eating comfortably. Ok if you are just having a drink but for eating a meal they are not appropriate ( especially for someone small like me!)

This was our second visit to Loulabelle's, the other being in 2023. Lots of delicious food plus friendly staff. We had lunch before visiting a nearby attraction, then nipped back for tea and a cake afterwards. Not cheap, but everything is delicious. The decorations include some great pictures.

Very disappointed, arrived for lunch bringing my brother and wife as they are on holiday, had to wait 10 minutes to be seated although there was an empty table where we were standing, we were given menu's then totally ignored for the next quarter of an hour, a young waitress saw us and I asked could we place an order (we were going to have a 3 course lunch) she said yes and then went over and chatted with another waiter, after a further 5 minutes we decided to leave and go into kelso, we went to a place in kelso and were treated correctly and served immediately.

I'm afraid I won't be back. Went to use the facilities and I went into toilets and heard giggling didn't hang around but imagine my dismay when 2 of your cleaners came out of said toilets doing up trousers and straightening themselves up!. Absoloutley disgusting. I've the names of both. To say I'm appalled is an understatement. I came in to shop not witness sex acts. In uniform at the workplace! I'll be informing my friends and family. If this is how you allow your staff to behave! Disgusting if my daughter had been with me and saw that I'd have rang the polis straight away!

Nice cake and coffee, but bit of a disappointment after reading online recommendations- limited selection other than scones and cake, and the staff not very friendly compared to other individual cafes: thought this would be something a bit more unique and special : nice bookshop and store
