Abbey Bistro in Scottish Borders

The evening menu is very good. The venison was excellent. The wine list very acceptable and the service was very good.

All meals taken on a weekend break were excellent. Lovely breakfast and excellent evening meals served. Staff very attentive.

Food was very good and freshly prepared, service from staff was attentive and they all seemed pleasant. Lovely setting, just across from Dryburgh Abbey on one side and the River Tweed on another side.

We had 2 meals here on consecutive nights, There's a good range of food to meet all tastes and it was all delicious. The service could have been better, there was definitely a longer wait for food on the Friday as it was busier but this did not bother us, but I believe there was a problem in the kitchen, so this may not be representative of a usual night here. We'd visit again if in the area.

We had two evening meals in this restaurant. The dining was in the bar area and it was nice to have a drink before sitting at the table. The room was spacious with open doors to the patio area. We chose this as it was a very hot evening and it was very airy and comfortable. Again the staff were very nice and friendly.

We ate here for both evening meal and lunchtime. The food is excellent and the service was friendly and attentive.

We arranged to meet up with our family for lunch as they were visiting the area. The staff were helpful and set up a big table for us. Service and drinks were fine but the food was uniformly dreadful. We had baked potatoes that must have been re-baked a dozen times as they were inedible. The cheese platter (ploughman's lunch by any other name was) dried out and the cheese and meat platter was equally disappointing. The children had soup that was accompanied by triangles of white sliced bread.We did not complain because it was a family lunch out and nobody wanted to make a fuss but it was extremely disappointing.

The food was pretty good, the service was slightly less so and there was not a great selection on the menu, but we were very hungry and liked the patio. It was only lunch after all!

We had great difficulty in choosing what to eat because the menu had a great selection. What we did have was excellent. This is a good place for dinner even if you are not staying in the hotel.

We had mussels and the chicken dish was superb service was excellent could do with a bit more choice for me personally as there was only 2 dishes i would eat but other than that nothing to complain about would have eaten the second night but it was same menu shame

We enjoyed the bistro as it was not as formal as the dining room. Still with lovely staff and great food.

Easy and relaxing atmosphere, food was good service excellent and good wine. We had the pan fried cod, I had hand cut chips, and my husband had vegetables with his. The Icecream is locally producted and I highly recommened it.

Reservamos para una comida, ya que estábamos alojados en el hotel y tengo que admitir que no baje a mejor de comienza. 20 minutos es un excesivo tiempo de espera para que alguien venga a nuestra mesa. La camarera parecía estar más interesado en charlar con alguien en otra mesa que ella obviamente sabía. Aunque ella nos miró más de un par de veces, ella ninguna prisa en incluso ofrecen una bebida. Sin embargo, en el otro lado, el servicio era muy amable y el ambiente muy tranquilo. Nuestra comida llegó caliente y sabrosa y en ningún momento nos apuraba. Yo era incapaz de manejar el postre y me sentía un poco mal (nada que ver con la comida) y tuve que volver a mi habitación. La camarera poner nuestro queso y galletas en un plato cubierto y lo trajo a nuestra habitación, así que podría haber más tarde. Me gustaría ver llegada mejorar un poco pero por lo demás un lugar para comer y no romper el banco.

Como siempre fantástica estancia en este hermoso lugar.

This is the place for a drink with a cocktail and is very casual and cheaply priced compared to the tweed restaurant.

Dinner at the Abbey Bistro was scrumptious. Young waitresses were being trained the night we were there so there were a couple of wee hiccups but nothing that a bit of patience wouldn't sort out! We all have to start somewhere and were showered with...

Los alrededores estaban un poco cansados, pero el personal era amable y eficiente. El menú era bastante aburrido; el productos básicos de sopas y sándwiches, patatas al horno, pescado y patatas fritas, pastel de carne. La comida estaba bien, pero nada especial para seducir.

Food was great, well presented and very tasty service slow however staff have character which made up for it.

Fantastic soup and sandwich lunch combo with a glass of wine or a beer. All four of our party opted for this after a hard morning's fishing on the river tweed outside the hotel - it was outstanding. Staff were fantastic.

We enjoyed the soup and sandwich option. Tasty home made soup and fresh sandwich. An ideal stop for food after visiting peaceful Dryburgh Abbey. Both places were dog friendly.

Very good food in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Don't have to dress up for the Bistro. Food just as good as the restaurant. Lovely sandwiches as well

Same menu as the Tweed restaurant so enjoy, take the dog, you are allowed here, and the drinks are normal pub prices too

The food n the bistro was very good and the outlook over the river was lovely and peaceful. Service was also good. If there is a slight criticism it is the height of the chairs. They are too low for eating comfortably. Ok if you are just having a drink but for eating a meal they are not appropriate ( especially for someone small like me!)

Best warmed up scones I have ever tasted worth every penny. Service from bar staff brilliant. Comfy chairs in bar area.

Choice of fancy foods like pigeon or basic fish and chips which are recommended. Nice friendly small bar to have pre dinner drinks with lovely views

a really lovely bar manager - and a risotto to die for ! I love risotto but don't make it very much fro myself as I am the only one who eats it - beat I have ever had.

Six of us called in for lunch today. Soup and sandwiches were the order of the day.Extremely disappointed to be served poor quality packet roast beef in the sandwich.For a hotel that's just won an award this was a poor show.The staff however were pleasant and efficient.Expensive for what it was.
