After seeing the good reviews online, decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. The food in this place is of such good quality, really fresh and tasty, cannot recommend enough ! Lovely staff too.

Went with relations from London, used to all kinds of food, one of whom is vegetarian. Having seen the excellent choices of tapas on offer opted for those instead of the planned meals. We all agreed that we had made the right choice and even ordered more as it was all totally delicious. Enjoyed every bit. Scrumptious. 😊

We were able to select a bunch of tapas from the menu that were all vegan. They took a little while to arrive but for a good reason: they were all prepared to order, super fresh, piping hot and delicious. Service was great, we even got a mini-margarita on the house. Truly recommendable.

We recently visited Sobremesa for the first time and were thoroughly impressed. From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the restaurant's quirky and interesting decor. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The highlight of our visit was without doubt the food. The tapas were amazingly delicious, each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. We initially planned for a quick lunch snack since we had dinner plans elsewhere, but the food was so good that we wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy more of their selection of enticing dishes. A special mention must go to Benjy, the general manager, who was incredibly engaging and added to our delightful experience. He made us feel like valued guests. Overall, Sobremesa exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or planning a longer meal, this place is sure to impress with its delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you for a delightful lunch, Sobremesa! We ate here whilst on a short break in Bexhill, and we're very glad we did. We shared 5 tapas plates, each one of which was freshly made (clearly by someone who knew what they were doing) and delicious. The wine also was great. The service was efficient and friendly - the best combination. If I was to suggest just one tiny improvement - perhaps the menu could be simplified? I don't mean exclude anything, but clarify the presentation so that it is easier for those people to choose (like my wife and I) who may not be entirely familiar with the wide range of lovely food from Latin America. :-)

This was my first visit to Sobremesa and it won’t be my last. I had an Enchalada which was from the specials board. It was packed with flavour. From the moment we stepped foot in the door, the person that served us couldn’t have been any more attentive. Any questions we had were met with helpful responses. I was concerned that there may be too much chili in the sauce. The waiter brought out a dish with the sauce to try before the dish was prepared. I didn’t ask for that, they just did it which is excellent costumer service. The price of the food is extremely good for quality tasty food. I didn’t sample the cocktails but they looked amazing. Thank you for a wonderful journey of my tastebuds.

You should definitely try this restaurant. A mixture of Latin American dishes. All freshly made and very tasty 👍❤️. Highly recommended.

Me and my partner like to travel and visit new places. Today we visited the Sobremesa restaurant in Bexhill, which surprised us with fantastic food. Mal is a very warm person who puts a lot of heart into his work, thanks to which we were able to try fantastic dishes and a well-prepared margerita. We rarely visit the same place several times, but Sobremesa will always be on our list. Mal, thank you very much for great food in a fantastic atmosphere. We wish you lots of guests because you deserve it. We highly recommend this restaurant

This is a really nice little place. Delicious food, Helpful and friendly staff, Benjy the waiter must be a contender for an Olympic marathon,perpetual motion. It would be great here for a group of friends, this Tapas style lends itself beautifully to that. A selection of small dishes to share a couple (or 3😉) bottles of wine, sip,pick,chat, repeat. Brilliant. Another plus: Gratuities at customers discretion, no euphemistic “service charge” added

Enjoyed the most delicious meal. We struggled to choose from the tapas menu, so asked for some recommendations, the food was fresh, incredibly flavours and complimented by a crisp bottle of white wine. Had a most enjoyable evening, thank you very much :)

Food is nice but they kept cancelling order and only half turned up. They then closed and said the other half will be delivered in 24hrs.

Resturant keep cancelling orders and when you call they do not answer the phone.

Terrible. Food was okay, but took over an hour to arrive. Cocktails were horrible - watery mess.

Chips were extremely and burgers were missing lots of the ingredients it said they had.

Over the years we have had so many amazing meals inside and take-aways at home. We went recently with a friend who was visiting and again, as always had an exceptional meal. Mal’s dishes have so much flavour, are cooked perfectly every time and the menu offers a great range of flavours that is always changing. This time we had marble bread, carnitas, lamb and cheesecake/chocolate cake for dessert. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

Delicious , honest, home made dishes, fantastic. Chilli was exceptional and the pulled pork & pineapple wrap was just divine. Try for yourself, thinking about it now, I’m tempted to order another! I really hope they keep such high standards, I’ll keep coming back for more until then. Chef is outstanding!

Great quality and value. Popped in for a light lunch while visiting the nearby De La Warr Pavilion and the Bexhill Museum. Lovely, authentic Spanish / Latin American tapas, freshly made with love. They have an excellent deal - 3 plates for £12.50. We added a fourth (for another £5), which was plenty for two diners. Each dish was deliciously spiced, and they have a great selection - we could have ordered many, many more equally good-looking dishes. Generous glasses of wine, too, for £6.95. The bill came with a service charge of 2.5%! Was that a mistake? We added more for the excellent, warm service. I understand that they may be selling up - get there while you can.

It was very welcoming as soon as we entered. We had 6 tapas dishes, and they were exceptional!!! Great beer and made us sangria, which is not on the menu, but went out their way to accommodate us.

I went to Sobremesa for lunch with 2 friends this afternoon. The food is just delicious! So many flavours. The girl who served us is very sweet too.

Visited here on 2nd March for my birthday. Balloons were on the table ready which was a nice touch but sadly that’s where it about ends for the positive points. 1. Cocktails taste like flavoured water. Vanilla Love was ok but Espresso Martini might as well be drinking tap water. 2. Brazilian dumpling had a large chunk of cartilage in it. It was ok until that point but obviously left a bad taste about this starter. 3. Beef Takaki starter - probably the best thing we had but it did seem to have something strong tasting in there, we think mustard which wasn’t mentioned on the menu. 4. We came early when the restaurant just opened so was only around 4-6 people including us but the drinks service was slow. First drinks fine but when restaurant is mostly empty and we’re sat with empty drinks, I don’t call it good service. We had to ask. 5. Arrived 6pm, first customers in the whole place. Mains arrived at table around 7:50pm - 8pm. That’s a crazy wait especially with the slow drinks. No offer of drinks throughout unless we asked. No asking how the food is. 6. Chicken curry - was expecting something amazing to be honest. However taste was very bland, maybe the most bland curry I’ve ever had in my entire life (no joke). You would easily get more taste from a Tesco frozen meal. Massive chunk of Pak Choy that overwhelms the bowl. It also seems to be the same chicken you get in fajitas, cut in the same shape you would expect from fajitas so it’s not specially made or anything. 7. Beef main dish - can’t remember the name dish but it was extremely tough. I like my steak medium well or even well done but this was crazy haha! Kind of like eating a dog chew. I looked through other reviews and saw similar comment about pork so I don’t think it’s just me. 8. Discount on receipt - seemed we had been discounted £30 probably due to the issue with the cartilage in the starter which was good but there was no mention of this by the waitress. We had to read and figure it out. The two female staff were quite nice but I think could do with some training. Speak to customers… tend to their needs… offer drinks when glasses empty at bare minimum…. 9. The toilets are weird. You walk through a door then down a corridor only to realise you’re already in the toilet and have to walk back down the corridor if you want to have the door locked while you pee. It’s just weird! 10. Lack of cutlery on the table. Not enough to cover mains and starters. Overall for £60-70 that we paid it was a complete rip off. I feel a bit sick knowing that we still paid that much. And to think the total price was meant to be around £100 just wow! The place should be on watchdog. I tried to be as fair as possible this review. I’m also willing to speak to the owner if they wish to contact me as I genuinely hope they listen to the feedback and can turn the place around. I look on tripadvisor and google rating and I see the high scores and am not totally convinced that all the reviews are legit. 1 review new account, 5 stars…. Unless my visit was the most one-off fluke bad visit ever then I’m sorry but something is seriously wrong here. Just do a good job and the good reviews will follow. If the owner wishes to contact me. Popped in for dinner before an event at the Pavilion. Great service, very attentive and knowledgeable. Food was very good. If you like South American flavours, this is the place to visit.

Simply a fantastic place to eat, chef serves up some superb food and we have never been disappointed. Whether it’s for lunch, the Mexican breakfast is to die for or for dinner, choice is fantastic and a little different to the norm. Highly recommend for an evening.

What can I say! This place is amazing! Hasn’t let us down yet and we have been a lot!! The food and service is consistently good. They have a great system in place to insure great service!

Had an extremely nice Sunday lunch there today. The pork mains I had was delicious & the meat was so tender & the crackling was just that. Will be going again.

Attended for an early dinner due to other commitments. Another amazing dinner with flavours to blow the mind. The charcoal bread is amazing- with the herby dipping oil. I had the South American paella dish with king prawns- the flavours were amazing- so much variety in every bite. My husband chose steak fajitas with all the dips and plenty of wraps. The steak was moist and had deep rich flavours. Both meals were big plates and so we had the leftovers as take away. We absolutely love this place and will definitely be back soon.

TLDR: Starters took an hour to arrive, and we gave up on further food after 90 minutes and left. Were told the order had not gone through the system, but the front of house staff didn’t notice we weren’t eating or clear the empty glasses from our table and ask if we wanted a second round. We watched other tables eat 3 courses (although we were not the only table who left unhappy). --- We were a table of 5 who booked in for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We had to leave a £10 per person deposit to hold the table, fair enough. The website also stated that we had to pre-order our meals, which seems a little strange for a table of 5 (I could understand if we were twice as many). A phone call confirmed that we didn’t have to pre-order, so the website could do with updating as this might put people off. We arrived a few minutes early, sat down and ordered some cocktails and then our food (starters and main course). After an hour we had finished our drinks, the empties hadn’t been cleared away and nobody asked if we wanted more. We then asked what had happened to our starters and suggested some chips and dip for the table while we waited. After checking we were told that our starters were being plated up and there was not point in getting chips (one of our party wasn’t having a starter and by then was getting pretty hungry). The starters were delicious when we finally got them. After flagging down a server for another round of drinks, we waited, watching other table arrive after us, and be served their meals. I was beginning to wonder if we had done something wrong when I saw someone from another table to go the kitchen hatch and collect their own food (they later also left the restaurant unhappy). When we did ask what the delay was, the staff were not helpful, or apologetic. We finally gave up on getting our food and left. During the evening the owner (also the chief) was in the kitchen working away. He seemed unaware of the issues going on in the front of house, and nobody apologised to us, or offered to put things right until we left (the owner did email us the next day and has been working with us to make amends).

Amazing breakfast filled with flavour and cooked with love, if you haven't been GO!!

Incredibly fresh tasting and visually stunning food. The dishes were as substantial as they were delicious. The flavela lager was so good it made me buy a case as soon as I got home. Catered very well for both myself and my daughter who are both gluten free.

Amazing service totally recommend

I'm going to have to 1 star tonight's experience. Almost 2 hours after ordering our mains we gave up and walked out. This would have been OK if we had warning/apology/complementary drinks or chips. Our server was really quite rude and accused me of "borderline bullying" when I made a joke that we had forgotten what we had ordered earlier. If you have a problem getting the food ready, own it. An apology, a drink, information of what's going on.. ANYTHING is better than getting annoyed at your customers politely asking what's going on

Seafood dish excellent Meat dish not so good. Sauce great but pork was quite tough. However the staff did offer to change the meal. Puddings and coffee were great. Really finished a nice meal off. Would highly recommend the restaurant

It was a shame our experience of coming here was not as great as before. As a group of 7 we were told to pre order but the food still arrived a different times and some elements were cold and dried out like the rice. The food arrived even before our drinks. Some dishes had shellfish but no finger bowls or spare dishes for the shells. Some dishes clearly had frozen mixed veg in. The steak skewer starter around £8 was one small skewer, very expensive for a small portion size. The service was OK but we were left waiting on food and drinks often, some staff didn't even speak to us but just stared at us till we took our food for drinks from them. Then the bill came with an automatic 13% tip. I hope it improves again soon because this was a family favourite, but it was disappointing this time.

Absolutely incredible food. We went for a celebratory family meal and the staff were fantastic. The food is expertly prepared and so fresh and authentic. The portions are generous. It surpassed all of our expectations and I would definitely come back! Cocktails were also a delight.

Sobremesa was a recommendation we won’t forget anytime soon! The food created a feeling of authenticity and was too an extremely high standard, with a sense of simplicity! We will be back very soon! I’m excited to be back!

What a meal! Came here for my 23rd tonight with my partner. Food was incredible, such generous portions too! The service was 5*. Sophia the waitress, was absolutely incredible! So attentive, kind and hard working. We could not have had better! Thank you for an amazing 23rd Birthday!

We had some fantastic food at Sobremesa for my birthday, with a friendly and attentive waitress (not so sure about the birthday hat she provided, though 😄). So much more than the usual Mexican restaurant, there's flavours from all over South America here. The crab claw or chicken croquettes, beef skewers, goat casserole, chicken curry... just everything - fresh, light, delicious. Great flavours, great cocktails, great service. Go there.

This is the best place to eat in Bexhill. Everything was fresh and bursting with amazing flavour. We came up to visit my mum from Hackney (where there are lots of great restaurants) and we thought that this was better than anywhere we ate back home! The staff are super friendly too. Cannot recommend enough.

Just wanted to say thankyou so much for the food today. Food was really amazing. Everything tasted so fresh. Starter was the best I've ever had. Hand made nachos were so good. Not often you get freshly made ones. Sauces super tasty. Amazingly presented. And the paella.... Well..... Very fresh and so much seafood. We love seafood and always struggle to find really good seafood dishes locally. And now we found it. We will definitely be coming back again for sure, and will recommend your restaurant as much as possible. Also, your waitress was super friendly and helpful and asked all of the right questions. Waiting times for food were perfect. Presentation spot on and the interior and exterior decor was in keeping with the style of the restaurant. Also the music, which I especially like. Thankyou again. Easily the best food in Bexhill!

Took a punt on this place without checking reviews, after trekking up and down the tired streets of Bexhill to scope out options. It seemed the least bad of what was available. Turns out we struck gold. The food was amazingly good, beautifully presented, generously portioned and bursting with flavour. Service was exceptionally friendly. A terrific place all round and a considerably more compelling prospect than any of the alternatives in the town.

Had a lovely relaxed evening Ruby anniversary. Not a cocktail drinker as people don't know or give you rubbish . But pleased to say they can make cocktails.😁. Food .tried Octopus and it was amazing in a nice spiced sauce with clams and prawns . Main ok will try something else next time cooked beautifully but not to my taste .but trying new dishes for me. 8/10 side dish awesome black beans .yummy . My wife's meal beautiful to .she leaves the best part of the gambas I like juice from head lol.. beers nice to. Great experience. Looking forward to trying other dishes they were cooked perfect.my dish meat medium cooked I do prefer slightly rare but that's me and not tried this dish before ...Will be here again very chilled no rush perfect . 👍

Oh wow, the cocktails are to die for... Sam is just amazing and very attentive and fun to chat with, if she has time. The food was delicious and aplenty. What a lovely evening. Nothing was to much trouble.

We visited Sobremesa on Sunday afternoon after recently moving to Bexhill. I have to say that not only was all of our food delicious, but it was very reasonably priced too. The host was very friendly and helpful when it came to explaining some of the food on the menu. I had the lamb chops for my main course and they were absolutely delicious. This restaurant is a real gem and we will definitely be back soon.

Happened to come by on a cycle on a Sunday. The staff were really friendly, we went in on a paella between us which was delicious, massive and really good value. Will definitely be back next we're in the area to try more of the menu!

Fabulous lunch. We had a great time yesterday and the food was amazing. We had the seafood paella which was full of prawns and mussels and so much flavour. Amazing charcoal bread and all freshly prepared. Service was excellent; down to earth yet attentive and caring. First class and we will definitely be back!

This meal was maybe the most exciting in Bexhill so far. Really delicious and interesting dishes like beetroot tartare and charcoal bamboo marble bread. I tried this gigantic beef burger which I can find the photo of. Crazy huge, way too big for one person but super delicious. Loved everything, especially the service, staff where so great at putting up with an embarrassing parent.

Essentially perfect. Food, service and atmosphere was all on point. Try the ceviche, it is breathtakingly good. Had a wonderful bison steak with a delicious glass of malbec followed by a decadent plate of chocolate banana rollitos. Heavenly.

A unique dining experience, the chef and staff are just perfect, providing a top class service and exceptional food

Food was good but staff were a little distant and not very engaging from a customer service point of view. When we asked for a taxi, they were less than helpful giving two names or telling us to Google! Despite two people having walking problems and one on crutches no offer to contact a taxi for us. Somewhat spoilt what could have been a very nice evening.

While the service was great, the food here is incredibly overpriced for what it is. £18 for a (sorry to say, pretty standard) vegetarian curry that doesn’t include the price of rice?! £5 to add guacamole to some nachos? It would also be good to have at least another vegetarian option on the menu

What an amazing lunch for Mother’s Day. The food is incredibly fresh and flavoursome. Portion size was big also a d all very reasonably priced. Compliments to the chef, 5 stars!

Had as a take-away and it was truly delicious. The portion sizes were generous and the food was cooked extremely well. Nice to have such a change of cuisine compared to a lot of the local restaurants. When I went to collect the food was ready bang on time, the owner was just packing up the last item meaning it was piping hot still when we got home which was definitely a big pro. Can't wait to try eating here when they reopen for dine in options

I made it clear that this restaurant was the best in Bexhill. I can stand corrected! it is the best in the region! It doesn't matter if it is eating in (it has been a long while..) or take away. The quality is always maintained, the balance of flavours is just perfect. You can always find that detail of a spice or texture you did not expect and never in the wrong way. Always balanced, always maintaining the original flavour even in dishes that are clearly a fusion. Want to have an outstanding meal? This is the place to go!

Lovely vegan options and we were even offered some vegan blue cheese to trial, absolutely delicious and the owner/chef was really friendly. Would definitely recommend/eat here again! Thank you so much!
