A Corvi Fish Restaurant in Northumberland

If I could give this cafe 0 stars I would, the food was at best bad, I have never had such an aweful meal chips that seemed like thay had been cooked at least a day before then refried chicken strips that were actually chicken nuggets that seemed as if marinaded in grease , a tasteless burger and overly greasy haggis, when I complained we were still charged full price even though it was mostly inedible, sadly we went by previous reviews when making a choice to eat there.

Proper traditional chippy. Eat in or take out. Fish and chips were freshly cooked and excellent.

The fish was ok i guess, but the cheeseburger was really cheap tasting with a horrible floury bap and the chips seemed like they had been in the fryer way too long and were greasy and soggy. We paid £45 for four meals and left most of it. What a total waste of money

Was there last week and it was great and went back again today, what a change, absolutely disgusting, fish full of bones, and the taste was disgusting, soggy batter, chips were full of grease and I actually think the fish was off, then the owner rubbed his nose just before picking the fish up to put salt on 🤮 never be back

Really disappointed after being recommended this chippy! We found fish bones in our food and when asked about it the staff were devoid of responsibility stating the fish is apparently delivered boneless. The man just shrugged his shoulders at us when the lady said this as if to say he didn’t care. Would avoid, as if we had children with us it could have been a really serious situation

Stay away said boneless fish .got two bones stuck in the top off my mouth when telling the staff thay was not bothered .that could have been a real choking hazard for a child then thay had the cheek to charge us £60 FOR THE MEAL TERABLE FISH AND CHIPS

Nice old fashioned little place. We bought take out but restaurant seemed nice, 3 other customers in the time we were there. £60 for 3x fish and chips, 3 x sausages, calamari rings, onion rings and chips. All freshly cooked for us after we ordered. Was a nice surprise to find the fish was skinless when we got back. Only gripe is one size portion of chips, we normally get a large and share between the children but they had to make do as I wasn't spending anymore money!

Absolutely delighted to find this restaurant still going, my family visited regularly over 50 years, the best fish tea ever & many happy memories.

Came to Berwick on holiday with some of my family looked on Google for fish and chips and this lovely family run shop came up . So glad it did ! Very welcoming and friendly , accommodating (as a family member was in a wheelchair) and such friendly people . Please if you are visiting try the fish and chips here , they are the best we have had … took us back to childhood with the taste and the mushy peas were perfect .. if back up this way will definitely be back

Delicious crispy fish and chips freshly made to order

Everything cooked to order so there is a wait, but the results are well worth the few minutes spent in this quirky shop. Really good haddock and well browned chips - not at all greasy.

They were closed when we arrived but very kindly reopened when they noticed us standing outside and freshly made some fish and chips for us. The fish and chips were delicious. Not greasy at all and lovely crispy batter on the fish. We would definitely go again.

Passing through the northernmost city in England, I decide to try the famous fish and chips. I decide to try it at Corvi. A place from times gone by, very characteristic. Friendly and welcoming staff. Delicious fish and chips, freshly made, generous portions. Extremely recommended.

Quite simply, the best fish and chips I've had for a long time. We love this place ... it screams old school, with formica tables, white bread with marg and a cup of tea to accompany the amazing, fresh haddock and perfectly cooked chips ... all for under 11 quid. Staff are a delight, too. Try it, you won't regret it.

We called in for a first visit yodsy whilst walking the city walls. It was the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. I will definitely all in again on my next visit. Even our fog was made welcome 🤗 🙂

We went to this place because it was dog friendly and were going to dine in but then decided to have our fish n chips to go, down by the river, just a stones throw away. It was honestly one of the best fish n chips we've had. All cooked to perfection, not too greasy, with a crispy, tasty batter around the fish. We shared one portion but could easily have had one to myself! Friendly staff too.

Went with three friends had fish & Chips Haggis & Chips and a Sausage & Chips we all enjoyed our food and Service I just live across the road from the Corvi Fish Restaurant. And is a family run business.

Food was nice. Restaurant is like taking a trip back to 1978. I do not recommend you use the lavatories without vaccinations or PPE.

Best chips I've had for years. Came with family to have a quick bite to eat and get out of the rain. Service was friendly and fast. Fish and chips, bread and butter and a large mug of tea, all reasonably priced. Couldn't have been better.

I went for the fish n chips with buttered bread and cup of tea. Decent price around £10. Food was good, alittle bit greasy but the decor and toilets could be a bit better a bit dated. But that was the only downside which isn't major. It's been around a long time.

Fantastic chip shop with the food to back it up. One of the freshest cods I’ve ever tasted. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed and the chips were tasty too. Will be back again.

We ate fish and breaded chicken. Served with a little salad. They didn't bring us anything to season it with and when we asked about it they only had a spicy oil. We are Spanish and a salad is served with salt, vinegar and oil. I still wonder how you can eat a salad without dressing. I will not return, they allow dogs and other irrational animals. Very Unhygienic.

Fresh fish, battered and fried to perfection in the classic British manner. A small friendly place. Get some fish and chips and take it down the street to sit near the oldest of Berwick’s bridges across the Tweed to enjoy the beautiful view.

Best fish and chips in Berwick. Fish was fresh and the chips very crispy. Good sized portions. Much better value for a sit in meal than the other one. Friendly staff and they even allow Dogs in. This place is like a timcapstle from the seventies and thats why I like it. Try it now and you won't regret it.

Best fish and chips I've ever had. Fish fried to perfection, flakey on the inside with a deliciously crispy batter. Chips likewise were done perfectly. Lovely staff, family-owned place, really can't fault it at all.

Visited at 3:30pm on a wet Tuesday with just two people sat in eating. Our fish was cooked to order, chips fresh, curry sauce whipped up, all in 5 minutes. Friendly staff entertained me while I waited. It's even dog friendly in there. We got to take away and it was very very tasty indeed even after a 5 minute walk to the car and a 10 minute drive to Paxton House. Portions come in just the one size which is generous for most humans in my opinion. The fish was as delicious as it looks... I don't think I've ever seen such a visually appealing battered fish. Going to go back before we leave! Don't be put off by the somewhat homely feel to the place. These are the kind of places that rely on the quality of the food they serve and it did not disappoint this self avowed chippy connoisseur. The dog's eyes tell you all you need to know!

I hate to say this, especially as businesses are struggling with rising costs etc. However, I was very disappointed and frustrated with the offerings in this place, and the fact we could've went to many other nicer looking cafe's instead. I really ought to have taken notice of there being only one other couple in as we took a seat. Fish wasn't too bad - or good - but the chips were definitely reheats from god knows when. My son's breaded Scampi looked like meatballs, being a very dark brown colour - they too were most definitely reheated and maybe more than once by the looks of it? £22+ down the drain but won't be going back. They have the cheek to charge 20p for a sachet of sauce. The couple mentioned above appeared to leave most of their meal before heading off. They didn't look vety happy either!

So it's a traditional chippie, prices are reasonable. I had the fish and chips, cooked perfectly, my wife had haggis, which was beautifully done. Kids had fish fingers and fish cakes, all done really well. For the price, honest food, cooked well. The place is a bit run down and the lock on the toilets was a bit dodgy, but the food was great.

This popular traditional fish and chip restaurant is tucked away on a side street and could easily be overlooked, which is a shame as the food is truly excellent.

We called 30 mins before closing time yesterday. Four adults and two noisy small children. Despite being there for an hour, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The fish and chips were some of the best we have ever had!

Nice sit in fish and chip shop. Fish is Haddock without skin on it which is a nice change when having a chippy in England. Both the fish and chips were tasty and my wife and daughter also enjoyed their scampi and chips. Would definitely recommend.

A well run establishment. £8.50 for a good sized portion of battered cod and chips. Dripping is used for frying and you can taste the difference. Friendly staff, good banter, surprisingly large interior, will visit again

Four of us had pensioners meals and we all thought they were excellent. This meal is great value and a perfect size. The fish was very fresh The location is good and the premises very comfortable. Service was quick and pleasant. I'd have no hesitation returning.

But the fish and chips here at A Corvi we're the best I've had in a long time. It's basic. There are no frills, and when it comes to basic food, that's a good thing. There is a sit-in part of the restaurant, and dog friendly, as well as takeaway.

Came by because it’s a bit off the beaten track but the reviews were good and it did not disappoint! The fish was cooked fresh for us and it’s skin off as standard which I love. The chips though were okay it of those world! So delicious and flavourful. It’s dog friendly and has seats inside but with such a short walk down to the quay it’s win win either way.
