Substantial portion sizes and very tasty! All the adults had sandwiches - the helpful and friendly staff were happy to make alterations to the menu for us, as everything is made to order. The children were very happy with their food too, one declaring that the cod bites are her new favourite! 🙂

Had lunch 26.01.2023. Very warm and friendly welcome - though not overbearing. Attentive service and tasty good value food. The open interior provides a great ambience. I had a glass of merlot which was delicious too. They also support local craftspeople by selling their goods which are very cheap and unique. Will definitely return. Thoroughly recommend you give it a go too.

Wow, what a great find. Such a surprise when you walk in to find this great space (previous Methodist Church). Very dog friendly, staff immediately offered biscuits and water and were so helpful and friendly. Great variety on menu, brilliant veggie Burger, fantastic service from very committed staff, 100% recommend. Do not hesitate to pop in! If you live in the vicinity, please support them. And if you drive through, do stop for a bite! (I also overheard a customer at the counter with very specific dietary requirements and they were extremely accommodating, flexible and supportive). I went into A Bite to Eat this morning with my Brother & Sister in law. We ordered Lattés Cakes and Toast. We were shown to our table and made very welcome. The coffee was lovely and there were some home-baked cakes. My Brother in law was able to leave some of his prints and cards for sale and the owner was so helpful. The building was a church years ago and some of the original features still remain. It felt cosy with armchairs and sofas in different corners and there were also different craft items and books for sale, I bought a pretty crocheted brooch. I would recommend this café and next time we visit Chard we'll try the lunch menu.

We were attracted into this cafe one lunchtime by the humorous blackboard outside and were SO amazed to discover the beautiful interior. The outside belies what lies within; sadly it looks pretty nondescript outside but the cafe/bistro inside is just beautiful. Apparently built in c1838 with a stunning minstrel gallery, the cafe has comfy sofas and chairs, original local artisan creations and collectors items to sell. The staff are incredibly friendly and then there’s the food! We had some of the best fish and chips we’d eaten for a long time; all beautifully cooked. We also had (as the blackboard advertises..), the hottest coffees and mine was a delicious decaf cappuccino with soya and cinnamon sprinkles. It was an incredible find which we had stumbled upon and we can’t recommend it enough. Forget the high street chains and go explore this lovely place. You won’t be disappointed!

Stumbled upon this place on our way home from Devon when looking for an all day breakfast. Quirky interior with local art prominently displayed and available for sale. Friendly service, hearty full English and at a reasonable price. Would definitely stop again when passing through.

What a find - my husband & I were greeted at the door with a warm welcome, super friendly staff, very good service and delicious homemade soup. This was a perfect find for our lunch stop.

Just passing through Chard and needing lunch we happened upon this cafe. The welcome was great, all the staff friendly and the food tasty, well presented and very good. Once you get inside the building it opens up to a lovely space and is well decorated with lots of novelty’s and gifts to purchase. We really enjoyed our visit.

Went for lunch, lovely building. The food was ok but we had jacket potaoes which had been done in the microwave. All sauces were from lidl and cakes on display were obviously shop brought which is fine but I felt it was expensive.

Looks kinda simple on the outside. But you get in and it opens up its splendour. Combined with which, very pleasant service and good quality food/drinks delivered promptly but unhurried. Me like a lot.

Very friendly family run place under recent new management. Very patient as we came in just as kitchen was closing. Ham egg and chips and prawn medley very nice. Bottled not draft beer.
