8848 Restaurant in Aberdeen City

Popped in for lunch with a couple friends. Staff very friendly, good selection on the menu. The salmon starter was tasty but the salmon was over cooked and a little tough. The chicken chettinad, usually one of my favourites seemed to be lacking the sweetness of coconut. Any chettinad I've had before has had a coconut element which you can identify. The chicken was also not that tender and a bit tough at times, there was a good amount of heat from the sauce, it was all still tasty and I ate pretty much all of it, but I was left a little disappointed if I'm honest. My friends food, they were both happy and we were all full afterwards. Everything was well presented and we were looked after, I was just left a little bit underwhelmed I guess.

Fantastic Hotel. Must visit if you are in Aberdeen.

Food was rubbish. I thought if I ordered prawns it will be nice . Didn’t look like prawns at all , and the test was horrible. I didn’t know what was that .😡and the order is not in the options here . Never ever again

I would give it zero for service if there was an option. The manager did go around each and every table multiple times but strictly avoided us. No waiter ever came over to enquire if we needed anything else and if everything was fine. Too bad these guys still live in the colonial past of the last century😆. The ambience is good and some food items are authentic. I would rate it higher if they learn to treat each customer equally regardless of their origin.

Excellent Nepalese restaurant, right on Union St. I've been during work visits to Aberdeen several times in groups of 2, 3 and 5. Each time has been early in the week and whilst always busy have never had an issue walkin-up without booking. Food has been consistently excellent each visit from usual curry shop offers to more unusual Nepalese dishes. My party consisted of a vegetarian and a gluten intolerant, both of whom were very adequately catered for. Cost was reasonable and service great. Would definitely visit again.

What a lovely spot! My husband and I were here for our vacation and came for his birthday dinner. They were so kind to give us a complimentary appetizer and some Baileys for dessert! The food was amazing! If you are in Aberdeen- I highly suggest! You will not be disappointed!

Went here for the first time yesterday and was delicious. Was plenty of folk in for a midweek and was served quickly enough. Portion sizes were good and service from staff was good. Will likely visit again, but there are other similar restaurants in Aberdeen that I prefer.

Always amazing. Ambiance, food (large portions - our eyes were bigger than our stomachs) and the customer service is always top notch. The restaurant is very clean and plenty of space between tables. They don’t have a children’s menu but it’s easy to share dishes (including delicious non-spicy options); they even gave our little one an ice cream which she loved. Thank you! We will be back again and again!

Have been here with our 3 kids and had a great time with great food and a very nice service. Even the kids (who are pretty picky) found food they enjoyed.

The food was great and the servace was so lovely, they mixed up my order and bought me a pakora starter instead of a korma main, which they then comped me and apologised for the mistake, and were lovely the whole way through servace, would recommend

My dining experience at 8848 Nepalese & Indian Restaurant in Aberdeen was exceptional. From the warm ambiance to the delicious starters, every detail was perfect. The service was impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who were passionate about the food. 8848 is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Nepalese and Indian cuisine. We had a lovely visit here tonight. Would we go back?, sadly we likely wouldn’t. The decor was lovely and spotlessly clean. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly and very attentive throughout our meal. The food we ordered was at best ok and definitely a step down compared to previous visits. I has the king scallops for a starter and never seen such small ones and sadly because of they way they were prepared , they were very over cooked. The flavours were nice but you would never know it was a scallop. Both our main dishes again were ok but neither the korma or butter chicken tasted like we expected. Both fairly bland and just not the taste we expected but might be their own twist on these classics. The nan bread, rice and chips were delicious though. At almost £90 for two starters, two main courses, two soft drinks and one cider we found it very expensive. Service was excellent but food quality and value not as good as it once was.

This restaurant had very good Google reviews and we were nearby so it was time to check this one out. We came in pretty early so we there was sitting place enough and not many people were present. After a quick look in the menu we ordered. The staff was friendly and answered all our questions. Including some explanation what was a hot dish and not. The ambiance is very modern with a touch of Indian and Nepal influences. The food was very good and more than enough. It was very enjoyable to sit and eat here so the reviews were not overdone.

Papa rao has made our special day. It was my sons graduation day, and we decided to celebrate at 8848. , booked a table in advance. We were so hungry and didn't bother to go over the menu, Papa rao, the manager, helped us in choosing the food and drinks. The food was excellent as usual, and the cocktail was simply superb. I always prefer this restaurant to celebrate our special days. The girls served freshly made hot food. Isha, the new employee, took all the care in arranging the table for us. The bill was well fit into our budget. Infact I expected it could be more expensive. We had a great time with the modern ambience.

A very good Nepalese restaurant with great service. Been a few times over the years and feel the menu has gone more India than Nepalese however, not a bad thing. If you’re in Aberdeen and looking for some great spicy food, then look no further than 8848.

I found myself in Aberdeen for a night and fancied a curry. I chose 8848 because it was close and had good reviews and it turned out to be one of the best Indian meals of my life. Everything was good, the atmosphere, the decor, the service, but the food is beyond excellent. Also, reasonably priced!!

On my trip to Scotland, the first day took me to this Indian restaurant. Indian food is a must on every holiday. I love it. But here I was once again positively surprised. The food was excellent. Everything was perfectly coordinated and tasted fantastic. Whether it was the starter, the main course or the surprise bedside table. (It was there to celebrate the day). That was very thoughtful. Thank you again :) It should also be mentioned that the boss and all the employees were extremely friendly. I felt very comfortable here. You don't often have such a warm personality. Thank you for the perfect evening :) My conclusion: 10/10 A perfect meal in a great setting. If you ever find yourself in Aberdeen, you have to eat here whether you like Indian or not. Then you'll definitely do it :) Thanks

Beautiful restaurant with great service and a warm atmosphere. More importantly, the food was of the highest quality, it was hot and flavoursome. We will be back when next in Aberdeen!

Food arrived 90 mins late & wrong food came to house

The staff were friendly but a bit overwhelmed so the service was a bit hodge podge - some of us got our dishes 5 mins before others. The food was tasty enough but not to their usual standards. The rice for example was a bit dry and clumped together.

Food in here was out of this world..very satisfied diners. The service was great too. My partner is coeliac and there was so much choice.The manager. Was attentive to all diners , ensuring that all food and drinks were being enjoyed. Can't wait to return

Chicken majestic is not worth at all !! Garlic bread is okay ish.., I would say 3/5. Ordered Biryani It was not at all spicy (despite ordering spicy ness before). Adding lemon & onion for biryani as side dishes would have been much better !! No offence but, I felt biryani in Travancore restaurant is definitely better than this one.. Mango lassi was okay to drink, a proper mix should have been done with yoghurt before serving. Friendly for groups.. WC available.

Chicken majestic was not at all majestic, it’s just like a subway chicken fillet! Biryani was not at all spicy! (Even though we mentioned we needed spicy). This is not the authentic taste that one should expect.

Such a great place I must say. Food and service absolutely top notch. Ambience is also very decent and mild music which made it further more better experience.

Very disappointed with the take out food - my wife and I had been to the restaurant on several occasions and enjoyed our meals so thought we would try a takeaway- big mistake- the pakora was cool and overcooked ( binned ) - the curries were lukewarm and okish - I’ll give the takeout a body swerve in the future

Very friendly staff. Food excellent. Afew great options for vegetarian and vegans. Free desert for Valentine’s Day, which was exceptional. There was also a special valentines menu this month which made it special for regulars too.

We went for my Dad's birthday and the service was terrific. The food was excellent and catered for someone looking for Vegan and Gluten Free options. Would highly recommend it. However, it did open at 1pm rather than the 2pm stated on the door so would suggest updated that, just to cater for anyone looking for lunch.

Service was quite slow. Waiting 2hrs for the food. Dhal was not to my liking and the Briyani didn’t taste as authentic as I was hoping.

Visited for Aberdeen restaurant week and got the tasting menu. £25 per person and such a feast! The menu had lots of options...i thought we had to pick 1 item from each section, but every option was included in the price. Amazing value for money, so filling and so delicious. Definitely worth a visit

Came here for Aberdeen Restaurant Week. Seated promptly and given a warm, friendly welcome. The restaurant week menu was explained and the first two dishes arrived promptly and given a description of them by the waiter. Then it was a very long wait for the next course, then another long wait for the next. Which was a shame because the food was lovely, as in really good. All in all the food is incredibly fine, the staff were lovely and friendly but it was let down by the slow service, I got the impression that they were struggling with the demand. The only thing that really irked me was the service charge on the bill which we were not informed about. If I could be guaranteed good service I’d be back in a heartbeat and it seems I may have just not been lucky this time around.

I have enjoyed eating at 8848 before and this time we had extended standby before going offshore so booked a table for dinner. Given we only had jogging bottoms and trainers to wear, I was a little apprehensive about eating anywhere on a Friday night dressed for the gym. The welcome we received was slightly apprehensive, the staff appeared somewhat confused by our attire, however we were seated quickly, albeit away from the main eating area. The kebab starter was delicious and nicely presented, as I have eaten this before here it was consistently nice. The Lamb Shank Roghan Josh was delayed in coming out unfortunately, and I found it to be quite a bland dish with no discernable flavour which was disappointing, as on previous visits it was delicious. My colleague reported his to be equally lacking in flavour. Perhaps an off night, an anomaly which was not as good as previous visits, and we left satisfied entirely with quantity, but unfortunately not this time on quality.

Delightful meal in a quiet environment. The service was efficient, accurate, and polite. Papadums and chutney tray was tasty and crisp. The vegetable pakora was tasty and perfectly spiced. The lambshank could have been grilled after the slow cooking. It was tender, succulent, and melted in my mouth. The lemon ice cream was a refreshing ending. Tank you for a delightful evening.

The beautiful 8848 restaurant! (get it?) named after the height of Mt everest in meters, or 29,0029 feet. fantastic Nepalese cuisine served in luxury by staff that are extremely helpful and friendly. Multi award winning and a fantastic hidden gem nestled the the heart of Aberdeen. Would highly recommend.

The Aberdeen Insurance Institute booked the restaurant for a Curry & Quiz night The 8848 provided us with an exclusive facility upstairs where the food was excellent and the service exceptional, even including table service for any drinks required. Everybody enjoyed the night and I am sure there will be a lot of the quizzers returning!

Upon entering my bucal cavity, the Naan breads seemingly activated taste buds I ignored the existence of. On top of this oneiric delicacy, we are plunged on a mood which helps elevate the experience. Both bewildering and comforting.

Chicken Lukla is without one of the top curries ive ever tasted. Surprisingly it went off the menu for a while with the lamb version taking centre stage, which was very good in its own right but just falls short of perfection. The Chicken Lukla is perfection 👍👍

Dined as a group of 7 at the upstairs dining room. Great service, atmosphere and fantastic food. Highly recommend giving this restaurant a visit if in the city and would recommend booking at the weekend.

Brilliant curry, perhaps best I've ever eaten! With the starter and main I could barely finish the meal but it was superb!

Ordered at 7.35pm and got an estimated time of 8.15pm-8.35pm. Eventually got our food at 9.45pm (after having to chase up twice by phone). Was told the second time that the driver had delivered the food to the wrong address. This is the second time we’ve ordered from here and second time it has been late. Won’t be doing so again.
