Thaikun is not a very nice place to go. It feels so unclean and looks dirty. The tables are always sticky. The music is far too loud, you can't even hear yourself speak. The staff take forever to server you. I had ordered the Tom Yum, it was so bland, just felt so watery with not much ingredients. Really disappointed overall. I won't be visiting again. The toilets are so messy and look worn down.

Our first visit tonight and certainly not our last! The Pad Thai was the best thing I've eaten in a restaurant for a while!! Staff were friendly and personal and service was quick. Top marks!!

The food was amazing as per. We also had the sweetest waitress called charley I think and she made our experience so much better!! Defo recommend ThaiKhun>>

Love this place, I eat here regularly when passing through Aberdeen for work, the food is amazing, the atmosphere is great and also the staff are genuinely very nice.

Everytime we come here the food is great and the wait times aren’t long. The cocktails are delicious too. On this occasion I had the Sam Lor Smash, which wasn’t too sweet unlike other places. I really enjoyed it. I had the Chicken Street Noodles and my partner had Tofu Pad Thai, then we shared the veggie spring rolls. All of which were great. Our portions were very big and fairly priced, I then took my left overs home in a box.

Service was very cheerful, but food took a looong time to come. Food was OK, albeit meat was quite chewy. Prices are somewhat questionable. You can pay half elsewhere in town for the same bowl of soup, for example. Overall it's an acceptable option, but standards have declined over the years.

Luego, a mitad de camino, salió la comida de mi esposa. Casi habíamos terminado así que pensé que estaba bien. Sin embargo, mi comida no estaba siguiendo. En ese momento salieron nuestras bebidas -mi esposa había pedido una coca y le sirvieron Coca- destacamos esto y la camarera dijo “cómo se nota la diferencia” Pedimos que se cambiara y nos dijeron que “llevaría algún tiempo ya que el bar estaba ocupado.” Cuando finalmente salió la bebida de mi esposa, la mezcla de postes se había agotado, así que fui directamente al bar y el tipo la arregló bastante rápido. En este punto, la camarera me preguntó si no había recibido mi comida (claramente no lo había hecho) y pude verlos tener una conversación acalorada con el chef. Ella volvió a nosotros y dijo “la comida de su esposa salió demasiado pronto por lo que se perdió su comida”. Como mi esposa había estado esperando su comida ahora estaba fría - dijeron que lo calentarían para ella (quizás hacerlo fresco hubiera sido una buena oferta) Mientras esperábamos por nuestra comida vino un cóctel al azar a nuestra mesa que enviamos lejos como no habíamos pedido. Cuando llegó la comida pedí un segundo trago y un poco de agua de la mesa. A mitad de nuestra comida tuve que ir a pedir agua otra vez (mi comida era bastante picante! ) Mi segunda bebida llegó después de que terminamos de comer, así que envié esto a Le pedí la factura y me dijeron que las cajas estaban bajas y que teníamos que esperar para pagar. Luego pidió la cuenta ~ la bebida incorrecta y el sombrero de cóctel al azar había aparecido estaban en la cuenta! Después de todo su caótico servicio no hubo disculpas, ni ofrecimiento de una bebida gratis. Es casi como si esto fuera normal para ellos. No estaría tan mal si fuera barato, pero nuestra factura era de más de £ 70 al final. Servicio absolutamente impactante

5 star to the service, do the usuals quickly attended for a table, order were promptly taken. They my regular place for dinner when visit Aberdeen for business. Ordered Tom Yum chicken with rice and Thai Ice Milk Tea. Taste of Tom Yum was completely off compared to a year ago. Feedback was given when asked, was noted missing ingredient, £5 was taken off the bill. The Tom Yum was edible, but doesn’t taste like Tom Yum. Staffs were very polite.

Great authentic style food that is freshly prepared. The service is first class and the range of drinks is excellent.

Hated the fact they had a lot of statues positioned virtually everywhere in the restaurant, very creepy.

Although the customer service was no problem, I had to say it was the worst food experience for eating out in Aberdeen. My husband and I finally have a date but this really spoiled the night. I ordered Tom Yum soup noodle which I've been craving for, but it didn't taste authentic at all, instead it was so sweet that I didn't even finish. I also don't know what chemical flavour enhancer they have added, I've been feeling the reaction overnight. The worst was what my husband ordered, hainanese chicken. We couldn't believe it came 3 piece of cucumbers and a little bit scrap of chicken with lots of hairy skin. We just couldn't believe this standard of food was in a restaurant in union square.

Me and my partners first time eating here and the food was absolutely delicious. There is plenty of vegetarian options available and the staff were incredibly friendly giving recommendations on what food paired well together.

Staff were polite and professional. Garlic & pepper stir fry, egg fried rice and a pint of Singa beer for £25. Food was lovely and beer was cold. Perfect venue for a quick mid week meal.

We ordered the sharing meal and it was fanatic. Didn’t look too much at first, but it filled 3 grown men nicely. Staff were friendly and attentive and it was very good value for money. Will definitely go again next time I’m in Aberdeen.

Nice theme inside restaurant the staff are very friendly. We ordered a sharing platter the Food was good but when it came to the mains we were disappointed. The hainese chicken rice was tasteless the rice was a little hard not enough water when cooking it the portion of chicken was a speck to my eye very little. This is not how hainese chicken is served nor the taste. The legendary ksg was horrible the chicken was tasteless. The Pad Thai was the same the meat didn't taste good. I wouldn't say this was authentic.

We had a shared platter delicious 👍 we had finished and waited an hour ?? No one checked our table not to busy! Eventually we paid for what we had very disappointed as we use it frequently and never experienced such poor service?

Food was absolutely delicious; Pork belly starter & beef street noodles for myself and coconut prawns starter & prawn singapore noodles for the Mrs. Staff were lovely & smiley. Highly recommended. Should be ashamed to call itself a thai place. Not one Thai chef in sight and the flavour of the food reflected that. Not an Authentic food experience. Won't return, wasted money, just spent 60quid and looking for another Thai place 30mins after 😖

Delicious food and extremely fast service. Very friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere. The vegan chicken Thai red curry is delicious. Coconut rice was fragrant and lovely. Vegetable gyozas were crispy and flavourful. Mango sticky rice was delightful. I’ve also had the sweetcorn fritters and the massaman curry in the past, which were incredible. They also offer vegan prawn crackers.

Had dinner here this evening. Absolutely fantastic food. Friendly and helpful staff. £105.00 for a sharing platter for 3, main courses for 3, 4 drinks, a dessert and a coffee. Thoroughly recommend.

First time dining at Thaikhun Aberdeen and I’ll definitely be back. Arrived on a busy Saturday night with no booking, but we were warmly greeted and a table was quickly cleared and set for us. Server was cheerful and friendly and in under 20mins we were tucking in to a well priced, hot and delicious meal. Great atmosphere in a quirky premises. Highly recommend

A chain of Asian restaurants with an emphasis on Thai-ish food, the decor is impressive but the food is on the weak end of things. I very much enjoyed my Thai basil and crispy aubergine stir fry, despite the heat definitely being on the chain brand "spicy if you don't know what spice is" side. Needs some rice with it. My friend was quite disappointed in their street noodles though, it wasn't tasteless per say, just very light on them. Staff were endlessly patient and helped out a ton.

This place is awesome, It was our first time here and first time trying Thai food and we would definitely go back. Really nice light airy space to sit. Staff were upbeat, friendly and helpful. Food was delicious fresh and had lots of flavour. We had Crispy chicken or boiled chicken, rice, cucumber and a dipping sauce, my husband got extra spice which was a little dish of chopped chillies. We also shared the 5 spice fries. Clean toilets.

Heard a lot of good comments about this place, my experience was definitely on the lower side of average. Had chicken satay, Thai fishcakes and a Khao soi curry. The fishcakes were so rubbery, tasteless and only brought to life by a little sweet chilli sauce, chicken satay was so overcooked it was dry, there was an inadequate amount of peanut sauce and when I asked for a little more sauce a £2 charge was added. The Khao soi curry was the best part of the meal, spoilt only by the chicken again being a long way overcooked. On the service, it was polite, efficient but at no time were we if the meal was ok or not.

I love Thaikhun and I’m used to their restaurants. This one is as good as the other ones. The service was quick and friendly. Food was great. Had the prawn pad thai which is my favorite. The decor is beautiful. Never disappointed by their restaurants!

Fantastic Thai food experience in the most unexpected place! Situated on the upper level of Aberdeen’s Union Square, amongst chain restaurants galore, Thaikhun is a special one. Rustic setup inside, this place is popular. You can often walk in, but if more than two of you, I’d say book. Staff very welcoming with large open kitchen to the right. Menu has small plate options (order three or four) and also larger options. So much choice. An abundance. Ordered three small plates to share as a starter - beautiful fishcakes, with hot and tasty prawn & chicken toasts. Satay completing the trifecta. Better combination than any set platter. Prawn toast worthy of the version they used to serve at the late Thai Modern, of Milton Keynes fame. Katsu was my main. Surprisingly not pad kra pao this time; but we all need variety on occasion. Lovely and fresh sauce. You like to see it. No dessert today, but the beer was Singha. As it was and as it should be - Singha for the people. Definitely coming back here again. Won’t leave it five years next time. Highly recommended. Two paws up.

Delicious food and amazing service!

Had the grilled pork collar strips. Very tasty if you like pork, which I do. Service is very friendly. Sticky rice is super sticky, almost like the same rice texture you use for mango sticky rice desserts I'm used to. It was interesting. Different than what I'm use to but very good still. Recommended.

Been a few times but can’t not have the papaya salad ! Quick service, attentive servers, and authentic Thai food ! Pad Thai is comparable to that in Thailand ! Reasonable cost, good service and great food make for a good lunch date !!

Dropped in for lunch without first making a reservation. Drinks order was taken, followed shortly after by the food order. I chose the Tom Yum soup which I thought would be a starter size portion, but it was a main course size portion. Very tasty. Main course was sweet and sour crispy chicken and that too was very tasty. Overall, a great lunch experience which I hope to repeat soon.

Brilliant restaurant. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. Quickly got a table for 5 with no booking despite them being packed out. Served quickly and really well looked after. We had vegan curries and noodles which were absolutely amazing. Also had seafood noodles and chicken which my son's said were fantastic. Brilliant restaurant, we love going!

Really lovely friendly staff when we visited at lunchtime today (Sunday 18th Feb) and the food was excellent and arrived quickly. I had Tofu Phad Thai and husband had Tofu Singapore Noodles. They were both really good. Prices were reasonable too. Will come back again soon. Favourite place to eat in Union Square.

Really enjoy coming to Thaikhun - the food is good and the service is quick and friendly. They do deals for the local cinema too, so handy to have.

The staff were super accommodating, and friendly. The drinks were so delicious and refreshing and the food was amazing, really filling, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Would 100% recommend this place and their other branches assuming their staffs are as amazing as this ones. Caitlin was our server and she was so sweet.

Good food,even if I m not an expert of this type of kitchen i really enjoyed. The restaurant is very well decorated. The service was too oppressive(probably I wasn't lucky with the waiter) as as soon as we seated he asked for the order of the food,2 min after again and I had to ask to have at least 5 min to have a read through the menu.. All good a part that,I would defitenely go back if I got the occasion 😊

Due to it being a busy Friday lunchtime we had to wait a little bit for a table however it was well worth the wait! Our main server was Oliver (I think) who was so helpful and friendly. The food here is so delicious and fresh. Can recommend the spring rolls, stir fry veg, beef and garlic stir fry, Thai green curry. The sides of egg fried rice and noodles were great too. Probably our favourite restaurant in Union Square. Looking forward to the next visit!

Inspite if telling the waiter 1 platter they ended up adding 3 to my bill. I knew something was wrong looking at the quantity but the waiter when delivering the order said platter for. The girl who came with the bill when I tried to explain was very rude. Don't know her name we were the last customers to leave.

Our host was fantastic and the food is very good. Fresh and came swiftly. Top marks to the Thai waiter he was a top banana.

Incredibly tasty Thai food with exceptionally friendly staff. Great for a quick lunch trip and can only expect great things from an evening meal with cocktails and drinks !

Thaikun is a great Thai street food chain, I have visited many times. The green Thai curry delicious and the pinto sharing platters are good value for money. It is always a good atmosphere and the staff are friendly. The cocktails are good too and make you feel like you in downtown phuket. I had the prawn toast as a starter which came with a sweet chilli dip. The rice and curry came separate and I tried to pour the curry onto the place but all the sauce poured out and left the chicken and veg. But despite that I enjoyed the visit. The beer is good too and as Singh is my favourite, can't go wrong. I will definitely continue to return to Thaikhun of ai am away somewhere and looking for a bite to eat.

Although I usually have a great time here, tonight was really disappointing. We were surprised to find a sneaky 10% tip added to the bill, amounting to £16, without any opportunity to change it. Normally, I wouldn't mind giving that amount, but tonight was an exception. To make matters worse, our plates were never cleared as we finished our mains and waited for dessert. The tables were filled with dishes and empty drinks, and even when we got our desserts, the plates remained untouched. We tried to help by piling up the dishes, but it seemed like nothing was done.

Been coming to Thiakhun regularly now for over a year and think it's due a well done on maintaining the high standards. Consistently good food and friendly staff. Don't see that I will change my preference in the future to change from this place.

I tried here first time. And had an amazing experience and time. Amazing food with great ambience. Just loved it. ❤️

Although it was a busy Saturday night, we were served promptly and warmly. The starters were delish - veg spring rolls & chicken & prawn toasts - and then 2 of us had red curry (chicken) and 1 chicken & cashew nut stir-fry. The curry (2 chilli rated) was just as hot as we could take it! But great! Go to 3 or 4 chilli at your own risk! Do not miss the starters!!

I love Thai food, but did not enjoy it here. We ordered two bowls of Tom Yum soup as this is our favourite Thai dish and we have enjoyed it many times in the past at different restaurants. Here we found that the chicken was dry, and cut in pieces too big for eating them in a soup. The chilli felt like eating pieces of plastic, and the flavour overall was not good. After giving the dish back we ordered ice cream and found it was quite bad quality. They discounted the soup and offered an additional 10% discount as compensation which was appreciated.

So, we have eaten in Thaikhun several times of the last 10 years and are always impressed to see the consistency of the standards. It is some time since I reviewed on TA but after another pleasant meal, decided it was time to remind potential customers what to expect. Food quality is always good, mainly due to the same kitchen staff being retained for a long period of time. The front of house staff also maintain a high standard and our staff member tonight, Ted, was polite, helpful and professional. We had a little issue with an interpretation of what ‘not too spicy’ meant (not spicy enough) but this was dealt with with no fuss and a quickly re-cooked dish was provided. Tonight we had a mixed starter for 2 and the Pinto, a mixture of a selected curry, stir-fry and noodles. Food was served hot and in good time and all dishes were tasty. Thaikhun is not a high end restaurant but certainly leads the field as far as Union Square is concerned. Well done Ted and well done Thaikhun.

Worst Pad Thai I have ever tasted. Greasy with no flavour. I expected a lot better considering the price. SO many much better places to dine at..

I went here for lunch with my Mum Dad & Sister I had the Sweet & Sour chicken with Vegetable spring rolls as a side dish & it was delicious I loved everything about it, I would definitely recommend this place 10/10.

What a lovely and incredible good food. The food deserve a Chang beer, who is served cool and fresh. Very friendly staff who enjoys a talk. Defiantly conning back when I am in Aberdeen.
