Family evening out to celebrate a birthday. Ordered 3 chicharrones and pan con tomate. 1 chichartones arrived. After asking for the other starters they arrived 20 minutes later. Issue with their new electronic food order system. The source for the first chichsrrones was very good. The 2 late arrivals sauce mediocre and pork very dry. The Bream arrived skin upwards and fish dry. Sauce tasted the same as chicharrones. Ordered 3 patatas braves. Patatas tasted burnt sauce simula to started. Staff lovley. I did see another customer with bream. The plate looked very well presented skin down. Seems like we were unfortunate with the experience. Didn't spoil our evening however wouldn't recommend.

Probably my fault as it was a bit fancier than I expected and the prices reflected that. That being said, it was all really nice. Chicharrones and patatas bravas were excellent. I dislike having enforced table service and a 12.5% charge for the privilege. Toilets were funky and nice.

Came here for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago for the Sunday roast. The restaurant has a nice ambience, and the staff were attentive and friendly. Good portion sizes, and we really liked that it came with a lot of vegetables compared to other places where the veg often feels like token sides. However, it was massively let down by the roast potatoes (the most important part for us!) which were not fresh & tasted reheated. Carrots were cooked perfectly but the cabbage tasted burnt. The Yorkshire puds were just OK. Given other people's good reviews on here, perhaps we were just unlucky on the day we came, but for us, it was sadly a really disappointing meal.

Upon arrival we were met with nothing but awkward stares, not greeted at all, and were unsure how to proceed. A member of staff who must have drawn the short straw eventually acknowledged us but seemed to view us with doubt and suspicion if we had even booked a table and required a colleagues assistance to find our name in a list. Note: we booked a month in advance. With hindsight this was either an early warning sign or he may have been giving us an easy way out. We were ushered towards what can only be described as the worst table in the entire place (PG version). A more optimistic view would be to describe it as a chefs counter, where one could properly observe the array of different shaped plastic tubs in action. After politely enquiring if we could change tables to any one of the 10+ that were free (and being declined ‘cause computer says no and frankly that would be too much effort), “Are you ready to order” signified the end of any further dialog thru the evening. Literally. “How is your food” … “would you to order another drink” … “would you like to see the desert menu” … “let me clear those plates away” are phrases you are unlikely to hear at 56 Westow based on this evenings experience. Our main course was placed down with a “Hi” and a swift departure. I’ve had more engaging customer service at Nandos. All of this is which to say the food isn’t bad. It is actually good. The kitchen staff clearly work hard, cook well, and deserve better than this. I don’t write reviews like this often or lightly, but I couldn’t have been more disappointed if I tried.

I’ve had dinner here twice now and each time I just absolutely loved the place. The staff are so nice, not polite nice in a forced way but genuinely nice and want you to have a great experience. For that reason alone I would recommend it but to top it off the cocktails are incredible and very cool, the wine list well selected (and with sulphate free options if you’re interested) and the food is just fantastic. We all appreciated the great atmosphere and how well we were looked after, even though we lingered loudly well beyond closing, so thank you and please don’t ever close! X

Absolutely unbelievable food! As another review said, it’s really made with love. There is a wide variety of dishes - I have tried most. They are made with such attention to detail, both on the presentation and the combination of flavours. Exceptional quality and fairly priced too. Portions are pretty large. It’s just an eruption of flavours in your mouth. Would definitely recommend the small plates of the tiger prawns, griddled courgettes and the chicharrones. The merguez sausage main is beautiful. Thank you team!

Wonderful roast meal on a new year day and dare I say this was my best roast yet! I went for a full-size roast chicken and my partner had a half-portion of beef and a side of apricot & pistachio stuffing with cranberry sauce. The portion was generous and well balanced. The chicken was well cooked and seasoned - skin nice and crispy. The breast part wasn't dry and the leg part was indeed tender and juicy. The gravy has good flavour, not too bland or too salty or greasy. The trimmings were amazing and flavourful. Greens with garlic still had their crunch which I loved. Big fat multi colour carrots were also nice and crunchy. Good roast potatoes. The highlight for me was mashed parsnip. Creamy and delicious!! Apricot & pistachio was utterly delicious. It came in good portion (as in not too big). It was warm and comforting. The consistency was almost cake-like with a well balance of savoury-ness, sweetness from apricot, and sharpness of cranberry sauce cutting through. Lovely homemade sauce that we also asked for extra on the side which added to our roast meal when it started to feel heavy mid meal (if you know what I mean). I left 4 stars for food mainly for the beef that seemed to be on a chewier side for our liking. It didn't taste of a whole lot compare to chicken. We aren't a beef fan (or eating lots of meat for that matter), but order differently to try, so take my review for a grain of salt. If having a roast meal next time, we probably go for chicken or fish instead. Inside the restaurant was cosy and nicely decorated. Very good atmosphere. The price is good value. The staff are all friendly and kind. I'm pleased we had our lunch here. Also very happy to discover another good place for a meal out in the area.

The food was quite good but the service was really poor, even when the restaurant was really quiet. It took so long to catch someone for an order, we only ever got to order drinks or food when we attempted to catch someone’s eye (usually took at least 5 minutes with several staff members walking by ignoring the table). It was a frustrating dining experience. It was also freezing in the restaurant. We wouldn’t return for these reasons.

Really wanted to like it here as the vibe is great and it’s nice inside. Had the steak which was ordered medium rare but it was almost certainly medium to well done, for a rib eye to be solid “grey” in parts is disappointing. Also was under salted, topped with soggy “crispy onions”. Partners dish was chicken wrapped in jamon but with crème fraiche on the side, she was also disappointed. Patatas bravas was very good but £7 is a bit silly for a side. Also oddly offered a bottle of water at the start rather than just tap which I thought was quite unusual for a modern restaurant. Finished with a basque cheesecake which was a bit dry. Probably one of my most disappointing meals on the triangle so a shame!

Told the restaurant I had a nut allergy. MULTIPLE TIMES asked for food with nuts in to be flagged - proceeded to bring out a plate with nuts on, one time said it has nuts next time did not tell me until 4 mins late that it had nuts and I had already eaten it. Big no from me. Tried to shift blame onto new staff - this shouldn’t be the case no matter what as it was told prior to arriving there was someone with a nut allergy. Don’t go if you have a nut allergy - got told by staff “are you alive” and “sorry, here’s a cocktail on us.” Not appropriate. Genuinely upset and scared by this - bad accidents happen because of this carelessness. Genuinely upset by the reaction of all staff in the restaurant - even when they realised they had given me nuts that I could not have, they did not acknowledge the severity of the situation and instead gave me a ‘free drink’ and them decided to back themselves. Outraged. One thing to be learnt, there is never an allergy that should be undermined/put the ingredients on your menu.

Amazing Sunday Roast ❤️ probably the best in Crystal Palace. .. sadly I can't say the same about the service.. the guy who served us gave us the feeling that our presence is an inconvenience to him. The second waiter on the other hand, who served dessert ( don't go for the chocolate mouse, it's wayyyy too small, pick the cheese cake instead), was cheerful and polite.. Had lunch today but the food was a bit of a mixed bag, so overall a bit disappointing. The merguez sausages and patatas bravas were good but the special was a sort of seafood casserole and was very bland( a bit like potted shrimps mixed with pasta). The seitan merguez had to be sent back once as charred, but even the second time around was still tough and had an overwhelming mint sauce taste. My dessert ,a sort of rum baba, I couldn't eat as it was so sweet. The staff however were lovely.I think the dishes need more taste testing to asess if they are up to standard.

Service was fast, friendly and attentive. The small plates we had were tasty. The problems started with the large plate and side. It felt like every dish wasn’t balanced, either being too salty or far too sour. In particular the patatas bravas. The red sauce and the aioli were both incredibly sour and unpleasant. The potatoes themselves were cooked well and would have been tasty had they not been over seasoned. Wouldn’t eat here again. Points lost for atmosphere because the gents toilets are unpleasant. Two narrow urinals cramped together, right next to a cubicle - the door of which opens outward. So I had the pleasant experience of using the urinal and trapping in someone that had been using the cubicle and who had to wait for me to finish my business before being able to leave.

Lovely pub restaurant and really enjoyed the roast dinner, but we were constantly being reminded that we had to give the table back by a certain time by 2 different members of staff. One time I had a mouthful of food and felt extremely frustrated and rushed. Some plates were cleared away before everyone had finished. The place was almost empty but we had the largest table which was obviously needed 2 hours after us. We felt a bit regretful that we’d booked here for friends who’d travelled 1.5 hours from north London - wasn’t quite the experience we were going for. Not at all the Sunday bustly atmosphere you’d expect and certainly not the service that encourages people to return.

This is a general review, as we are regular customers. While the food is usually excellent, I needed to send a steak back twice in one evening. The steaks were recently added to the menu and the chef needs to practice the whole rare-medium rare business, as well as the choice of cuts. HOWEVER, the waiter and the waitress servicing our table on that evening were extremely professional about it, they made sure that the experience was rectified, so a shoutout to those two examples of the highest professional standard. Otherwise, the food is usually superb. Great experience with the sea bream and also the meatballs in the almond (?) sauce (I hope the latter makes a comeback to the menu). I find it hard to rate places 5/5 but this place deserves it. Very impressive. Our waiter, I think his name was Harrison, was exactly what you wanted, polished, professional,,chilled and non-intrusive. We hadn't booked on a busy evening yet he managed to sit us with a great view of the london city skyline, one of the best seats in the restaurant. Onto the food. It was fantastic, good portion sized and reasonably priced for the flavour and quality. Starters- Bruschetta- I've had many bad but this was excellent. Generous fresh toppings but the way the bread was cooked meant it wasn't soggy. A little touch but amateur chefs get this constantly wrong in other restaurants Chimigaro (spelling)- succulent pork. Very good. Dinner- Aubergine. Most restaurants de-bitter the aubergine that reduces the taste. They kept the flavour and didn't overcook. It worked well with the miso drizzle and goats cheese, lots of strong flavours that contrasted well. Lamb merguez focaccia. The merguez was one of the best I ever tasted. The focaccia wasn't soggy or too doughy so you could pick it up and eat like a wrap without the contents falling out or it disintegrating. Again, a minor point but inexperienced chefs would forget or ignore this important detail. We will 100% return and trust it will keep up its excellent quality cooking.

Excellent food, but we had to always attract the waiting staff to order & chase up our food, even when it was quiet.

Had a great dinner at 56 Westow! Really good service, lovely atmosphere and the food was great - different and more interesting than the usual menu. The cocktails are quite unusual would like more fruity based ones on the standard menu but they will make any cocktail. Would happily come back.

As a mixologist myself I know what a good cocktail should taste like. Alas, after one insipid wishy-washy cocktail at 56 Westow we fled nextdoor to the Cocktail Embassy for the remainder of the evening.

Came here on a Friday night and Harrison couldn't have been more attentive or helpful! What wonderful staff you have :) Fab cocktails (huge selection in a very cool book!), yummy snacks and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be coming again!

Crystal Palace has a new best roast! Chicken was so moist, everything else delicious and very generous portions. Staff were top and looked after us very well despite us turning up with a dog and a baby in a pram. Check it out!

Great place. Chilled vibes. We were given the private both... so cosy and perfect for a catch up with the girls! Cocktails... basically they have it all. Whatever you want made they make it... the food was phenomenal! The lamb is a MUST!!! The best lamb I've ever had! ❤️ Will be back for date night x

Food was great - service however was terrible. Took for ever to order any drinks - staff too busy chatting, left after our starters as it took so long. The food really was great - shame the service let down the experience.

Been going to this Chinese shop since I was about 5 years old, I’m 27 now and still the best Chinese food in south London by far! Salt & Pepper prawns are my absolute favourite and the best you will taste without a doubt! Authentic and flavourful food from a great family business! Need to open a seated restaurant! 10/10 recommend to anyone! Doubt anything on the menu will disappoint

Don't know what to make of my experience. Ot was my first takeout I had since i got back from spending 32 days at my mum's in morocco, I got a bad stomach for an entire day, but as I said it might just be me. The atmosphere is very quiet and polite, but to the point.
