3 Chefs Takeaway in Derby

I have been having burgers from here for a very long time. Always lovely. Not last night. Awful, chewy & just unpleasant. I had horrendous heartburn followed by being violently sick. Never again.

We regularly order from 3 chefs have done for years: However I have never reviewed their excellent customer service, particularly Steph tonight! So friendly, helpful and patient! The food arrived quickly and so fresh and amazing !!! 3 chefs thank you for being the best take away in our area and you take card payment where local ones to Spondon don’t! Keep being amazing xx

Great kebab shop! I ordered when I got to the shop and it was ready in minutes. Shish/donner mix with sauces and salad in a naan. This kebab is huge so we share it between the two of us. Delicious.

So I'm originally from the area but have lived in the US for almost 20 years. I am typically able to source most foods here in the States but the one thing that has eluded me is the traditional Doner Kebab I've eaten many times either sober or drunk. ( Mostly drunk !! ) My favorite place when I lived back home was 3 Chefs in Chaddesden. The owner was always friendly and seems to have a photographic memory of people. I would order not just Kebabs but all of my unhealthy comfort food from 3 Chefs as I lived nearby. Well I had to visit the UK recently and top of my food Bucket List was a 3 Chefs Kebab. I landed at Heathrow in the morning and drove to Derby. By Dinner ( tea ?? ) Time I was starving and there was no doubt where I was going. I ordered a Large Doner online and went to pick it up. The owner still remembered me even though the last time I went to the UK was 9 years ago and I gleefully picked up my food to consume at home. Once I opened it up I think I may have actually shed a tear of happiness when I saw the delight that awaited me. I couldn't finish it but that's not really their fault as I am obviously out of practice. It was tasty, large, good value for money and hit every spot I needed it to. I made a few subsequent visits over the next few weeks and even when we made a mistake with our order and my wife ordered something incorrectly, the owner corrected the issue, gave us the Pizza that was made incorrectly ( again our mistake not 3 Chefs ) and didn't charge extra. Incredible Service, Incredible food and my go-to spot for this kind of Food in Derby.

Really hate leaving a negative review but so dissatisfied today. 3 Chefs have always delivered spot on takeaway food but tonight was not great. Beautiful pizza delivered but the donner meat on the kebab had no taste at all and spoilt the rest of the kebab which had to be thrown away. Such a shame as always been highly satisfied and give 3 Chefs good reviews 😢

ordered 2 kebabs first time using this place, told an hour for delivery arrived within this time, The food was stone cold they sent replacement out within 15 minutes, sent salad and sauce in separate containers. the chicken was dry the naan was soggy! my partners kebab meat was dry and the sauce didn't even taste right! it was disgusting! i also had a bad stomach next morning and hardly ate any of it, how they can get 4 stars is beyond me, don't waste your money here.

Ordered food tonight 15th December 2022 donna and sheish kebab with madras sauce.. portion of large chips asked for well done… the best kebab I think we have ever had… honestly I have never eaten anything so nice in a long time. Sunni and his team smashed it, I cannot get over how nice the food was I even rang back to tell him. Hard Graft goes along way.. the fact if you call the center and ask him to call you back and Sunni calls back in 3 minutes is brilliant. What a dedicated man he is to his business I cannot wait to order again .. people work so hard in life to get where they are and Sunnis one of them thank you and your team and the lovely delivery man who dropped the food off!!

Wow! I have no words. Ordered a kebab with salad….kebab had no salad and there was only one option for sauce lol . Chips soggy and disgusting. Please do not waste your time they are gross and don’t care about their customers. If I could give 0 stars out of 5 I definitely would. Vile vile vile.

I ordered a hot spicy pizza at 18.09 the email stated you can amend your order within 5 minutes,I called at 18.13 and said I meant to order the hot spicy vegetarian and the guy said no as he couldn't get hold of boss! Even though I called within the 5 minutes! Now left with a pizza we can't eat. Disgusting service.

Ordered food, like I have been doing for over 12 years, came not the right food. Complained on phone, offered new one, I say wait until next time I order saves the 1 hour 41 mins I've waited. The wait time for food is horrendous, gone completely down-hill. The staff answering phone are not polite no more, very rude service. The food smelt vile when arrived and could not eat it, the customer service on phone was un-helpful. Day after called back for the free meal been promised and they offered me a tub of yogurt for a £12 order thats been wasted because of their poor cooking and vile smell, next time ill take it to environmental health it was vile and un-eatable. NOTHING has been done about this at all. Appalling service, late on delivery - BANGED HELL OUT OF MY DOOR WITH MY 78 YEAR OLD PARENTS INSIDE WHO I LOOK AFTER AND WAS ASLEEP AT TIME - VERY RUDE AND DIS-RESPECTFUL. Absolutely shocking, food was supposed to be delivered at 8:15 didn’t come till 21:45, when it did come it was like warm and also got the order wrong. Absolutely shocking and I will not be ordering again. Pathetic excuse of a company

I ordered a kebab at 7pm, although a kebab is a fairly simple order it took over 2hours for this to arrive. When I called the takeaway a gentleman answered with a very unapologetic tone blaming the poor service on not having sufficient drivers. Not only is the delivery service shocking but the attitude of the staff is absolutely disgusting. Would not order from here again and would advise others not to.

I ordered my food it was 25 mins late and when it got here it was cold and some of the items were wrong so i rang them to sort my order out and i told him my burger was cold and that it had no cheese and chips and felt like it bounces of walls it was that stale and rubbery then the bloke on the phone told me 1 sec please then in the background another member of staff told me i was “chatting sh1t” which i did not take to kindly to. please do not order from here as the staff are rude and obnoxious People

orderd a special kebab take away, cost £9.00, donor meat was cold, shish meat was inedible, just gristle/fat. I would advise to avoid if you want a nice kebab expeirence

I ordered take away on the app for me to collect at 5.45. At 5.15 I was just about to make my way over to 3 Chefs and what a great supprise.........driver arrived with the order. Plus bottle of Coke. Brilliant service, highly recommend. Thank you, Food was great.

Easily one of the best takeaways in Derby, late-night food a must stop choice, Saturday night heading back home, parked outside, very quick service from the always happy staff, left with a large portion, well worth the money.

Its a very easy going and fast food serving place, excellent choices, speedy friendly staff and large portions, a large kebab is enough for two easily, unless is after a session in town.

Quickest take-away easily by far, friendly staff, excellent service, large menu choices on offer and the portions are very large, bag of chips loads, well worth a visit especially after a few pints.

Sonny is always friendly and happy, the burgers and mega kebabs are always cooked to perfection and they included fried onions upon request. I wish i could afford to eat there 7 nights a week as you could have a different meal each night without...

Had a kebab and chips on several occasions over the last few years most times on a return journey home by taxi after drinking, always friendly service, always large portions, always tasty food and look forward to next stop, drunk or sober.

I’ve been a customer of 3 chefs chad since they first opened many years ago. I always found the food to be of a reasonably high standard and so became a loyal customer. Recently however, whenever I order my favourite treat food - pizza - I’ve been very disappointed. On two recent occasions I found the toppings good but the base was slightly undercooked. It wasn’t wholly palatable but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt....change of chef, staff turnover, who knows?....

We ordered our food like we normally do every other weekend when we’re all together as we normally do! We call it family night the food turned up an hour later cold. But everyone’s allowed to make mistakes, what makes this kebab shop (see previous reviews) the best in Derby is there customer services from the call centre to Sunni the owner it will never put us off from ordering as it was a one off! We order every other week for great food and good value for money! Sunni and team sorted the problem out that’s why I remain a loyal customer because he looks after his customers and you cannot say that about other kebab shops! I'm writing after a rather negative review in the local paper that I really didn't agree with so I wanted to say something.

Ordered family kebab last night and it was absolutely brilliant. It was here in 30minutes and it was hot the chicken was moist it was that nice, I rang them back to tell them! Not to sure why such negative reviews, the food is good value for money and if you have a problem ring them back and they will sort it out?! Best kebab I’ve had in a long time really enjoyed it!

Me and my wife use this a lot when we fancy a takeaway. It's is our go takeaway. I have never been disappointed with the food or service.

Such a shame it looked like a good place on the outside and so we ventured in on our stay in the area. First the portions are a good size but unfortunately that's where it ended for us. Kids didn't like their burgers said tasted horrible. Chips were cold but very large portion. Jacket potatoe wiv cheese didn't look like it that instead a potatoe that had been broken up wiv melted cheese on top that was rubber like. Potatoe also was hard too, such a shame seeing each item I ordered are some of the most simple dishes to make :(

I went there a couple of weeks ago, and had to wait quite a long time for my takeaway. The main guy is very friendly, and apologised for the wait, but with the amount of staff working there, I'm sure they could do better.

We had a problem with our order last Thursday, instead of leaving a bad review I telephoned them Saturday night as my husband wanted to order from here! I rang them before ordering got through to the call centre and they passed my number on to Sunny. He rang me within 5 minutes and sorted the order out! Brilliant customer service!!! And the food, brilliant restored my faith quickly I think if you have a problem before leaving a bad review ring them first. Give them a chance to rectify things first! Will be ordering again and I would recommend to any one massive kebabs quality food! Thanks Sunny and the guys in the call centre!

I called in here while on nightshift , I have called here quite a bit and to be honest it's one of my favourite treats, plenty of meat on the kababs, and if your eating the fries straight away there nice hot and crunchy. Defiantly a place to try as sonny and the guys work hard to get you served as quick as they can. I had a mixed donner/chicken tikka mix kabab with chips and all I can say I was not disappointed. Call in and give them a go all the menus online to check what they do before you travel. If you live close enough they deliver. Prices not bad either.

Only used it once a while back, probably won't go back again... much the same as any local takeaway.

2nd order from here first one hmmmm!!!! Questionable....but always willing to give a local takeaway the benefit of having an off night... well we were disappointed yet again. This is not traditional Indian food even for a kebab shop it was the blandest tasting and most overcooked dry chicken we have ever had....EVER!!!!!!!! Apart from our first visit...!!!!! If your going to claim you cook traditional food then do it.... because this is far from traditional so wondering where your 3 chefs are???.....NO SEASONING...NO TASTE WHATSOEVER.....and giving us 5 free poppadoms was not going to win us over?!?!Get real understand that we like spice and sesoning to our food ...quality over quantity wins everytime.Will be the last time we order from here.

Their chicken achari is very good. The cheese nan is big enough for four people. We also have a pizza which are very tasty.

Ordered a family Kebab wow they have got smaller family must now mean two people,donna meat like rubber and dry,hardly any mint sauce when I asked for extra,last one before was terrible but I thought I would give them another chance as they used to be great,wont be waisting my money again ,will give it a miss.

Ordered from them tonight, was told food will take 45 minutes to come. An hour and half later rang up,someone was suppose to ring back, no call back. Rang up again, not that they was very helpful. In the end we waited just over 2 hours for our food. Already paid on card so couldn't go somewhere else, no refunds or discount. AVIOD.

So this is a shop I have used for over 10 years. It has provided me on many occasions with kebab orders up to £200 for rolls Royce. My orders last week as my Thursday night shift just a individual kebab as i was leaving work early so did not order for the factory which is a good job. I orders the special kebab for the variety of meat. When it arrived the meat was slightly dehydrated and not the normal juicy meat I expect. I showed my friend the size of there kebabs as I was more bragging. He pointed out the tomatoes looked rotten. So I pulled them out the kebab and alarming they were rotten soggy and had gone pale and green. So I rang the shop to which I spoke to a woman addressing my issue and that I was a long time customer travelling from nottingham on occasions. She shrugged me off and said she would speak to the owner and contact me. It has now been 6 days and I've heard nothing so as a result I'm leaving this review and looking for an alternative shop to supplier our night shift orders. Such a shame but I will not be mugged off.

I got a kebab last night and today I feel very ill , got cramps and stomach ache and coughing up the kebab and blood , when I get the kebab it was stone cold and only had a quarter of it , never go to 3 chefs ever I've reported them today aswell to the environmental gov website Beware!!!!!!!!If you go you will get ill

Place has gone down hill !! Not as good as it used to be! The call centre you ring to order isn't the same as when you , used to order on the phone to the shop I think someone's gotten a bit greedy! Shame scores on the doors were 2 this year shocking used to order all the time loyal customers but not any more! Couldn't think of anything worse

We popped in for a quick feed on the way home. Not had a decent kebab in ages and been trying to stay away! WOW! We had a donner and chicken tikka mixed kebab. It was massive and enough to feed 3 people. All very fresh and very tasty. We will be back!

This used to be our regular takeaway. Tried it after a while, and noticed kebabs are no longer good quality and fresh and pizzas are not good at all. Downgraded in my view, very disappointed!

We have been using 3 chefs on a regular basis for over 10 years now after using more than a dozen in a short time period whilst trying to find a good consistent takeaway.I give everyone a couple of chances, if the food is bad or the order is wrong more than a couple of occasions then they are done for in my books and so it shows that 3 chefs are fairly consistent in their quality for me to be still ordering from them.The good.As a rule you do get a good size portion of either curry or kebab, the rices are OK and so are the nans, we have not had may currys with excessive oil in, in fact we hardly ever have to drain oil off but folks remember that curry is essentially always cooked in lashing of ghee butter so you will always get some.The bad.The mega kebab though massive and enough to feed 4 has become a victim of its own success. 10 years ago this was full of moist tender meat but for some reason, other than the doner meat it has become a dry tasteless affair. Don't get me wrong we still order these when we fall in from the pub but we have to order curry sauces to go with it.You do sometimes have to wait for your order but this is a busy takeaway so they must be doing something right and there is always a que in the shop, but even we have noticed a drop in standards and though I hate to say it we are considering using or going elsewhere if only for a comparison.I hope this helps.

We love Saturday food and order it now and then like fish and chips, curry, Kebab. We have ordered twice at this place now and both times a massive amount of food arrives cold greasy and bland ...sorry guy's less quantity and and more quality please.

Let me start by telling you, I can eat! When I say eat I mean EAT! I decided to try the "Mega Kebab" that has made a bit of a name for itself. When the driver knocked at my door, I assumed he'd nipped to sainsburys to do my weekly shop for me.... the driver handed me the bag and i nearly dropped it. The weight of the thing must surely be equivalent to that of a small child! Eager to assess the contents I plonked it on my kitchen worktop and began to unwrap the parcel. Finally I find a pitta bread in the middle lay a huge variation of assorted meats and finally at the bottom I found what I can only described as a whole cows hind leg. My eyes lit up with anticipation and my stomach grumbled at the though of devouring such a healthy meal. I can only have eaten about 1/3 of this kebab and felt like I'd eaten a whole farm yard of animals, there was no way I was finishing this. Mentally beaten and physically at bursting point, I lay there on the floor with meat hanging from my mouth like a pornstar waiting for the money shot. I was beaten. Basically what I'm trying to say is, if your gonna order one, there better be at least 4 of you eating, if not, at least that's your packed lunch sorted for the rest of the week.

Save your money and go elsewhere saying I went the other night and fancy a pizza only to cooking oil pizza and very Grecy and would never recommend going there ever again !Go to better takeaway in the area

My husband had a kebab delivered we only live minutes away. It was stone cold had to reheat it in the microwave.He then had hot lettuce. YUK

Always order my family kebab and garlic and cheese naan plus chips from there cost me £14 sources and salad separate free as well. currys are good as well

We like 3 chefs, theres plenty to choose from delivery service is good and quick, I can pay via debit card, they have an online service.We regularly have a takeout from here, can be a bit hit and miss on kebabs on the amount of salad a sauce you get, but the food is always hot.

I've been ordering from 3 Chefs since it opened. Great food - at times! Great service - at times!The food was great years ago, never had any issues. It's only been the 2 years the quality has dropped. Sometimes the food is very bland, especially the curries. The kebabs are very hit and miss. This place is known for the mega kebab. Great value but the last one we had it was full of grease. Chicken way overcooked. The shish dry and bland.

Always pop in for a kebab when around derby pay £6.50 for a mixed kebab and chips feeds 3 of us to the full.Amazing value and the shop is always busy which is a good sign, staff excellent, good parking outside.

Absolutely disgusting waited 2 hours for barely warm food, full off grease. And soggy, rang 3 times to complain. The owner sunny should be ashamed of himself sending poor quality food out to customers .

Very good takeaway with polite staff who are willing to ring you back if they feel your order may be wrong. Only a few times have they got my order wrong but at the cheap prices I don't complain. Very big portion sizes especially the kebabs as they only come as a large unless you order the kebab snack. Good variety of food on the menu all of which tastes nice. Very good prices and delivery is usually within the hour however on a couple of occasions when busy has come quite late. Well done :)

Unless you are a family of four don't go for the MEGA KEBAB...... so much food!!!Don't get me wrong.... it is all great... but so much..... I left more than 3/4 of it.... and I can eat!!!But it's great value...... for a party!!!

Ordered a variety of food. The pizzas were burnt on top and the bottom was soggy. The kebabs were huge but the meat was very dry. The fries were hard and inedible. If you like big portions badly cooked then this is the place for you.

Post cricket or football match, this is the place to go for a takeaway in the vicinity of the two sporting grounds in Chaddesden.For less than £5 you get so much for your money. I, as always, ordered a Donna meat and chicken tikka kebab with everything on - including chilli sauce.As kebabs go, this was good. Surprisingly my last visit found the Donna meat was better than the tikka which needed at least another day or marinating - the flavours just weren't there.Regardless, this is a great place for a midnight snack.

Don't get me wrong, the quality of the food is not the highest. The portions and prices cannot be argued with though, can easily feed a familty of 4 with a tenner.

I order from here regular and have had a few order errors which have always been rectified , food is always hot and delicious ...you certainly get your moneys worth service is prompt but can be busy and delayed at weekends , therefore order in advance as it can take up to an hour + at busy times

3 chefs used to be the best around this area but since Sunny started using a call centre the costumer service has dropped through the floor. The last 3 times we have ordered from them the order has arrived late and the food was Luke warm at best. Tonight was the final straw. We ordered our food and was told it would be an hour which was bad enough but then when it hadn't turned up after an hour and a half we rang again only to be told it was on its way. 10 minutes later it turned up. That's an hour and 40 minutes. That was bad enough but we checked our food before paying and found it to be cold again so we send it away. The food is quite good and is ok if your collecting yourself but if your ordering to be delivered, do yourself a favour and order from somewhere else.

Best takeout in Derby always quick, hot and tasty recommend the whole menu. Hats off too you guys you work so hard to keep us all fed and happy!!!!

We ordered on Valentines evening so expected a long wait and the website said it would take 1 hour. I called the restaurant at 1 hour 15 and was told to call back in 15 minutes if still not received. I called back at 1 hour 40 mins since ordering. I was told that they would call the driver and call us back. We did not receive a call back. 20 minutes later a whole 2 hours since ordering the driver arrived with our food. He had not be called so we had been lied to. The order was discounted slightly but it should have been free due to amount of time it had been out. The food was terrible. The poppadoms were burnt, onion bhajees were stone cold. Our curries were only luke warm. I do not expect to have to reheat my food before eating it! The naan breads are put in a brown paper bag which was wet through and had to be peeled off before eating which was disgusting and also left a horrible smell and taste. If it was too busy they should have refused orders as the service was terrible. I will not be returning again.

Recommended finger licking food, fast delivery with a helpful call attendant who always recommends the specials and meal deals. Very happy with the quality of the food and homemade sauces.

3 Chefs is my favourite takeaway in Derby, offering delicious curries, pizza and kebabs. I have been a customer for many years and the staff go out of their way to be friendly. Sonny the manager is always on the ball and knows all of his customers. I particularly recommend the garlic chilli chicken and chicken tikka madras curries, plenty of meat and sauce. The portions are large, the naan breads are huge and the pizzas are freshly made. My only issue is that my order has been incomplete on a number of occasions recently and I have had to call up and ask for the missing items to be re-delivered which isn't ideal. Aside from this I can't fault the food, service or value for money.

We visit often and sonny is a a lovely friendly owner who makes a very good curry & kebab also try the pizzas which are excellently priced and delicious

Me and my husband over the years have had a few takeaways from 3 Chefs which have usually been quite nice and good value, tonight we had a lamb bhuna each and shared rice and nan. This is the second time in the last four months we have had a takeaway and unfortunately have to say disappointed found the curries to be very bland could have been anything no distinctive flavours , also not very warm on arrival. So not sure if they have gone down In quality, I have retried now for the second time so might give a miss for a while now.

3 Chefs is an institution here in the derby area, I've not lived here in 8 years but whenever I come to visit from the states I always make it a point to get a kebab or something else from here.Very friendly staff, the food is always excellent and really good value for money ( the kebabs are huge )If you're after a fine dining experience then of course sample somewhere else but if you want good takeaway food in the derby area then give 3 chefs a visit, they have other locations in the area, but this is the location i make it a point to visit when I'm back !!

Highly recommended. Food arrived on time and warm. Variety of dishes available and friendly staff.Great value for money and there delivery time us very quick. I've been eating from here for many years. Thank You
