The food was good but the service was slow because they seemed to be understaffed. Our waitress was very nice and apologized which made it better but getting her attention was difficult. We were there on a Friday night and it seemed like a young crowd drinking upstairs and going outside a lot to smoke.

Unpretentious trattoria offering Italian food for the English taste in a street strangely short on choice. Service was quick and friendly but the tables a bit cramped. In the evening a space downstairs is used for parties/karaoke so the atmosphere tends to be noisy.

A bit of confusion as to menu option . We were a party of 11 ordering the 2 course deal with a starter drink. Was given wrong menu. Understaffed probably because they are not well paid since tips , unless cash are not distributed to staff if bill is paid by card. Though we had one lady , must be head of staff who knew what our menu is and was pretty efficient with orders. The wait was quite long as restaurant was pretty full. Food which came finally was surprisingly very tasty. The sea bream was very well prepared, crispy skin with succulent freshness . The trimming of greens was just right. The chicken order was claimed delicious with generous cheese sauce. While the wait for the food was fairly long , at least there was no loud music . This allowed for us to catch up and gleefully enjoy from the window the ' Nude cyclists parade ' as they passed by twice ! All in would only recommend this place if one is patient and a sort of informal group gathering rather than special event or romantic interlude..

I suggested this place to a friend after locating it on Opentable as a potential birthday party dinner gathering. Terrible mistake. The menu was terrible. Very limited choice. The staff were ambling around looking completely uninterested and the windows up stairs were open, staff members hanging around outside the front it twos or threes smoking with the smell pouring into the window above as we ate. It was so hard to get any sort of service. We had to leave the table a few times to locate waiters even when we wanted the bill then again when we wanted to pay it. Avoid this place like the plague!

I ordered the fish & chips. My advice if you like fish & chips in any sense is don't make the same mistake. The fish was soft and gooey with an almost jelly texture, and when asked if everything was ok, I told our hostess that the fish was undercooked and slimy to which she responded "ah yes - several people have said that - it's a soft fish!" my advice if you know something is disgusting and more than one person has complained - don't sell it. The rest of the menu is pretty all over the place ranging from pasta to tapas, obviously trying please a wide audience, and that may be part of the problem. My partner had a serviceable spaghetti of an out of the jar standard, saved by fresh Parmesan. The shame is the place looks nice enough, and the staff were pleasant but maybe stick to the drinks should you find yourself here.

Having looked forward to my annual Christmas meal with my work mates I was thoroughly disappointed with the meal and service. Firstly we were told off by the manager as we got there for not informing her that 2 people had dropped out that day. Secondly, We were astonished to find not a single Xmas cracker or festive cheer adorning the tables. We waited for some time for our starters which were ok but we were amazed at not only the portion size of the turkey dinner but also that it consisted of only a little turkey, potatoes and a salad that you wouldn't even find in your local cafe! The waiter & waitress who served us were very polite and understood our discontent but the manager did little to raise our spirit and could do with cracking a smile when serving paying customersAlso some of the food was cold and the fries were overcooked. We went for a friend's birthday. The service was appalling. We could easily have walked out having not paid as that's how little the staff were paying attention. The food however was the worst. The restaurant claims to be a mix of Spanish and Italian food. Since when is seabass and mash potato (main course) from either of those countries. The pizza seemed the safest option for mains but came out a radio active orange colour. Other people on our table had peas on their pizza. Where some of us had ordered extra toppings we found those extras wernt added or were added but to the wrong persons pizza. Starters were so aweful most of us didn't finish. Finally dessert arrived. How could they get the ice cream wrong?! The pistachio ice cream tasted as though the milk had burnt whilst in making process. The chocolate icecream was a grey colour and iced inside as though it had defrosted and been re - frozen. We refused to pay for it. Staff left us upstairs and we're sitting downstairs around a table eating oblivious to their customers up stairs! Two chain smokers outside had their smoke pouring into the upstairs window into the restaurant. Disgusting. For such a great location right on Picadilly near Fortnum & Mason why would the management offer such poor food and service? Someone else needs to take over and run this joint. At £35 per head - total waste!

We were greeted by the most wonderful friendly waitress who made us feel so welcome and happy to see us. I ordered a simple spaghetti , my niece a pizza, my brother steak and my father chicken. She loved the pizza, she is a fussy eater, my pasta was really delish and surprised! The guys really enjoyed their dishes as well. Came here on a voucher deal which involved booking via Experify. First point is that I was very disturbed that the service charge was compulsory and had to be paid in advance - surely you pay the service charge in response to the service you get on the night? The restaurant itself is smart enough but the staff seemed bored and uninterested. We were eating off the set menu which was very limited and uninspiring. The Bruschetta starter was OK but we had Lasagne and Spag Bol for mains, and both tasted exactly the same and were of no better quality than you'd get from a supermarket 'basic' range of ready-meals. Portions were also small and the there wasn't even a salad leaf to accompany the lasagne - we left hungry. Nobody bothered checking if we liked the food or were enjoying the meal. I wouldn't have a left a tip but of course we'd paid that in advance - now we knew why! I'll never return to this restaurant or book anything via Experify again.

went there Tuesday June 2nd 15, we took a look at the menu and it displayed both Italian and Spanish menu, but once inside in our menus the Spanish courses disappeared. We ordered 2 starters (fried squids and mussels in white wine sauce), a seafood risotto, a veal escalope in mushroom sauce and a bottle of wine. The waitress did not write down the orders but memorize them, The 2 starters were good, so that our expectations for the other meals were high, but then problems started: the risotto was wrong (mushroom instead of seafood), but since I had squids and mussels as starters I decided not to complain but to give it a try. There was meat in the risotto (duck I believe) which was not indicated in the menu, so i don't know from where it came from), and the portion was way too big. The escalope wasn't bad, but the plating on was a bit messy. My girlfriend then asked for a dessert (chocolate fudge cake): I did not try it but she said it tasted like it had been cooked in the oven immediately after something else and it still tasted like some other food, and it was dry. I asked for a coffee, and it was served to me without sugar (I had to ask for it). Deeply disappointed.

Food and Service were both good rather than anything extra or special. The 2 cocktails for £10 were very popular with several guests clearly only interested in the cocktails rather than the food. The decor at the back of the restaurant, but at the front it is simply terrible; Plasterboard partitions, old cushions falling of the wall and electric wires running along the floor. The above not being quite as bad as it sounds, the worst element of the experience was the Music. In an Italian / Spanish restaurant there was a weird, rather than eclectic mix including Rap ! I raised this point with the lady I believe to be the manager, she agreed that the music was inappropriate. She added that the music was controlled upstairs and that they did have a play list. She went off to change the music, but the change wasn't much of an improvement.

A lovely place consistently let down by failing to have captured your booking via open table . 3/5 times I have been here I am greeted by being told 'we have no record of your booking' and while you wait for them to engineer you a table, they hand you the menu which is not the 'deal' you have booked. This is a problem as the standard prices are steep. You have to then point this out, show your email confirmation and be insistent when your waiter scuttles off to get the manager. Depending on who that is then means you will either get an apology while they get you the 'deal' menu or get almost told off for booking incorrectly (ignoring the fact that the online system advertised the deal and allowed you to book it for that time slot). On each of the 3 occasions they have honoured the deal, but this restaurant is not for those who are not comfortable and prepared to suffer the social embarrassment of fighting their corner at the start of the meal!

We also managed to get there in time to enjoy their 2-4-1 cocktail offer which was a bonus! We both found something that suited our palates and the staff were very quick to bring out each of the courses. The meal itself was was great value and the staff were very attentive. I would definitely visit 189 Piccadilly again.

After a very long day we just came across this place and really enjoyed it... food was great, staff very friendly. Do notice they add 12,5% of the price to your bill!

Visited with a voucher. However the booking arrangements are with Experify and are unnecessarily complicated. In addition the service charge is added to the booking before you have even visited the restaurant. I suggest 189 dump Experify immediately. The menu is not the same as shown on the voucher or website. It is simplified to pasta or pizza.Having said all that the included wine was a generous 250ml glass of a very pleasant Italian white and the pasta and pizza, simple though they were, were well cooked. Good value for what we paid but I'm not sure I would revisit to pay the full price on this experience.

We were looking for somewhere pre show to get a quick meal and came across this as a convenient place to meet friends and grab a bite, we were not expecting great things, well what a surprise. To expedite we all chose off the fixed price menu that included a glass of wine. Well the food was really very good, and the wine was 'generous', and service pretty efficient considering the pre show deadlines. I think between us we tried all 4 main dishes and no one was disappointed. We had trouble with a cocktail which they changed without question. The whole bill for 4 was incredibly reasonable considering the location. I think the place lacked a little atmosphere, which with a group of 4 did not matter too much, but other than that a very satisfying and pleasing restaurant experience in London

Despite the excellent value for money £20 a head offer and the OK food (bit too oily if I'm honest), the dining experience was rather ruined by the Stag do going on downstairs and the Hen do going on upstairs. Luckily, I'm not a pompous diner and saw the funny side: I felt like Nathaniel the puritan in the Blackadder 2 episode, and was just waiting for the Stag to burst in shouting, "Great Boo's up, Edmond!". Avoid.

My fiancé took me here for a surprise valentines present and I must say the food was lovely, the staff were pleasant but didn't really have much to do with them cos we were in and out quite quickly. Wouldn't come again because there is probably better but I can't knock the place because it is nice.

Went here as a couple for a Valentine's meal. Prices looked great on the Internet. As we hadn't been to this particular place of London before we phoned for directions to have a response of " I have no clue, I don't know" surely if you work in London and on the street you would know how to give instructions?! Very rude as we walked through the door to be unpleasantly greated by the manager. The manger had a very rude as we walked in and told us to go upstairs. As we went upstairs we were greated secondly by another female who didn't know what the manager had done. We ordered our food (3 course) the starters were delicious, the main was lamb chop- was asked to be cooked well but arrived rare. Deserts were small but delicious. The cost of the meal is definitely over rated for what you get. I am a person with a small appetite and still left hungry after. Do not recommend if you are looking for full filling food. The plates were rushed out and there was no time to sit and drink. Would not reccomend.

Food was good, but as it was a romantic Valentine meal, we hadn't even finished our main and they brought out our pudding. Then only just finished that and were finishing our wine and they brought over bill and said they need the table. This ruined the mood abit. If you like me you like to sit and let food go down and finish you drink in your own time, wasn't impressed.

We went to this restaurant, we had a booking for a table for 2 and the waitress sat us down to a little cosy table. We found that it’s reasonable to order 2-set menus because of the good price (by the prior information from their webpage). The choice didn’t sound bad at first. My husband ordered a soup of the day as a starter and spaghetti Bolognese as a main and my choice was bruschetta and lasagne.Well, the soup of the day was a tomato soup which was basically just pretty natural tomato puree. Bruschetta was so-so. And then, unfortunately for the restaurant, we were sitting very close to another couple who had also ordered lasagne as a main but not inside a set menu. First the lasagne was brought to the other table and then to me. What can I say – mine was exactly 50% smaller. If we knew that set menu are just smaller portions, not a good price offer (cannot say that SO good prices that we should get so much smaller meals) …. And the corona of the dinner was the fact that my lasagne was put on a bed of the exact same “soup” my husband had earlier – we tasted/compared, it’s the fact. So we are not sure if my husband ate the lasagne sauce as a starter or I ate a piece of lasagne swimming in the soup.It all left us feeling disgusting and deceived.

We found the food was very well prepared and nice sized portions. The service was the opposite. Mistakes with our orders. We sat for 10 minutes and had to beg someone to take our drink order while most of the tables were empty.

Went here on Friday night with family prior to seeing Sunny Afternoon in theatre. We had a the 3 courses and bottle for £20. Have to say, I had no problems with the food. Service was quick and very nice. The restaurant wasn't full at the time (prob because it was early) - but still couldn't ask for a better deal. Would recommend - good value / good food

Starter and dessert was good, but main was average food, not well presented. We got set menu, but as its italian restaurant i was surprised not to find any pasta in set menu. Staff was quite slow. And the music was not giving the right atmosphere. Overall it was nice, good value for money.

The decor was nice but it was a bit cold and toilets clean but taps didn't work and no out of order sign. Service was slow and a little sloppy but friendly. Cocktails were better than expected and food plus portion size was good. We didn't pay service as the service was only average and due to this didn't get a smile or a thank you as we left so felt we had done the right thing not paying. Good easy choice for pre theatre.

Came here with my partner on New Year's Day whilst visiting London. We noticed a lunch menu outside advertising 2 courses (starter & main) for £14pp so we thought this was a reasonable price as we were dining in London. We stood waiting at the entrance for about 5 minutes with no acknowledgement of our presence from any of the waitresses (there were about 4 and the place was not busy). Finally, one of the waitresses said "2?" we replied yes and she started walking off, so we followed her to our table, she put the menus down and left without saying a word. 10 minutes later, she came to the table again and asked for our order, and we mentioned the lunch menu outside. She then looked at her watch, shrugged and said "that finished at 3" (it was 3.30pm) I then asked why it was still outside, she then shrugged and walked off again! We then decided to leave as there was no way on earth that we were going to pay the 12.5% service charge so that this grumpy, miserable woman can be tipped for her so-called 'service'. As we were about to leave the table, she said "you guys going?" I said yes, and she replied with "OK that's fine" and brought another couple to our table at the exact same time as we were leaving. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!

I went to this restaurant primarily to use the karaoke room for a birthday event with some friends and relatives. We were initially told that we could have a buffet platter for £15 per head which we assumed would be taken down into the karaoke room for the convenience of everyone in the party. However, when asked how food was going to be served, the lady behind the bar was quite vague in answering and told us that we should order our food in the restaurant and eat it in there. We agreed to do this and ordered our food, my sister ordering their ricotta and spinach ravioli which, when it was served, was a ridiculously small portion of what looked like shop bought pasta with a watery sauce. It wasn't cooked properly and it was very bland. As such, my sister took it back and requested a pizza instead and the lady behind the bar told her that she was still going to charge her the same amount for the pizza despite a pizza being a few pounds cheaper. The burger that I had was also very bland and my sister described the pizza she got as a replacement as 'average'. The only good thing I can say is that the two waiters that were working were friendly and apologetic and their cocktails were very nice although very overpriced (but I suppose this is in London). I definitely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone especially as there is a mandatory service charge of 12.5%.

A Surprise Birthday Lunch with Friends WOW!!!!. Walking down the stairs you hear a buzz. Entering the dinning room of Zedel is memorable. The room is beautiful and the staff are excellent in handling people. Your server makes you feel special even if you are their for a quick bite or a very very good lunch. We started with Frog Legs and Escargot. (Yum yum). Then Sea Bass. Absolutely Wonderful!!The attention to detail is one of the traits that the owners have displayed in each of their ventures. I have been to most so take my word for it .....If you haven't been there, you must and enjoy the excitement and buzz of the room.. Even try the American Bar or the Cabaret in the evening, you won't be disappointed.

We booked a table and the booking experience using open table as always is quick and easy. We had a little trouble finding this place but got there in the end. The restaurant was very busy (but it being 17th of Dec I suppose can be expected) , the staff was not overly friendly a little curt I may say. We booked for the set menu with a glass of wine for £20. The variety was not huge but the food was good, well presented and of a fair portion size. Starters and Mains was served in a timely manner, but after dessert we were left and not approached again, I had to signal the waiter about 5 times before she came (even though she saw me every single time) and with not so much as an apology for keeping us waiting. Not sure if I will go back - maybe if the staff was a little friendlier? Maybe they were stressed as it was a busy time . but at the end of the day when working with the public - one has to keep a smile on your dial.#justsaying

We were very pleasantly surprised with the £20 3 course menu. My mussels and sea bass were very good but the breaded chicken was a bit too dry. The house wine included in the deal was also good with a very unusual aroma. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and it was a very enjoyable pre theatre stop at a reasonable price in the heart of London. Yes we would go back.

You got a generous glass of wine with the meal which was good for a house wine. The staff were attentive but not overly so. We would definitely come back again as it is situated within the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly which I like and not far from the theatres.
