1727 Restaurant & Grill in Shropshire

Wow 1727 how have we managed to miss finding you until now!! Lovely food, great staff, nothing too much trouble and child friendly. We would come back however your opening hours have changed for the worse Friday & Saturday 18.00-21.00!! whats that all about and your new menu isn't a patch on the old one. Shame

We booked a large table and had to pre order the food, not a problem if they could have got it right. Some starter were incorrect an so waited over 40 mins. Asked repeatedly for a wine list one was eventually throw at the table, it was then another 20 mins to place the order, I was told they were busy, shouldn't have been a surprise we had booked months in advance. Once the mains arrived after nearly an hour they were okay. there are better places to eat with much nicer staff, this wasn't the young kids serving it was the manager . He was clearly looking after the regular customers, so if you aren't one avoid this place.

Was great to see 1727 was open on my recent visit to the Wynstay Hotel, I have eagerly been awaiting its return. Ordered whitebait followed by the largest rib eye on the menu, and was not disappointed in any way Food was excellent, service impeccable. Great cheese platter to finish So happy to see them open again , deserve all the success they can get

The ‘mains’ part of the menu was ridiculously overpriced and doesn’t come with any sides so you have to pay extra if you want anything other than a bit of meat. When the food arrived (50 minutes later although there was only one other table in there) my duck was chewy. Dessert was the best part but it took another 30 minutes + to arrive.the restaurant was also quite cold so overall, not a great experience and wouldn’t return.

We visited 1727 grill during the eat out to help out and to celebrate my son’s A level results and has a fantastic meal with fantastic service we had steaks which we all agreed were the best steaks we had ever had. We decided to come back tonight for a second visit and again we had a fantastic meal ,we had chicken and belly pork which again was cooked to perfection. I could not fault anything about our meals at 1727 ,starters ,mains and deserts were amazing,also the wine was great. I would not hesitate to recommend this place ,everything was perfect and the service was 5 star, excellent food ,excellent service,,highly recommended

We ate here as part of the Eat out to Help out scheme. The food and service were faultless, just a tad slow but this was understandable due to current circumstances. Both our starters and mains were very good we both had the cheese souffle It could have had a slightly better apperance but the taste was A1. I opted for a Rib Eye steak this was cooked to perfection and the chips and sides were also very good, the JD BB sauce was brilliant. The other half had the Sea bass wich was also cooked to perfection. We will be returning soon!

Visited last night as we are staying in the hotel. Ordered a steak each (different sizes), medium well for me and medium rare for the other half. Steaks came out and had been cooked the wrong way around. Steak taken back to be redone which took another 10 minutes. In the meantime sides were left on the table which had gone cold by the times the steak came back. No offer for fresh sides or to discount anything. Large party in the corner who were very loud, so could not hear ourselves think. Not worth the money spent.

Would have loved a dessert but there was no way I could manage one after the perfect steak and triple cooked chips. The room was a little dated but the restaurant was full and the ambiance was good.

We went on Bank Holiday Monday evening for the final night of EOTHO - the Rump Steak was one of the best I’ve ever had. Brilliant food & excellent service. We will return.

Four of us visited this restaurant on August 26th. It was quite difficult to get a booking. The restaurant website states ,vegetarians and vegans are also well catered, which we took to mean well catered for. When we asked for the vegetarian options we were told they didn't have any as the other restaurant was closed. The waitress then went and asked the chef and after a while we were offered vegan pizza, pasta in tomato sauce or vegetable curry. Options I would expect to see on a school canteen menu and not falling within the offering of 'well catered for' in a 4 star hotel. Three times the waitress told us that the problem was because the other restaurant was closed but we didn't see the relevance. Perhaps the chef in the other restaurant prepared any vegetarian meals and he was furloughed. I don't expect any restaurant to cater for vegetarians and vegans but if you say you do then please do so. As you are not currently offering decent vegetarian or vegan meals then please update your website to say you can't cater for certain diets. This was a 60th birthday dinner and we didn't dine in 1727 Restaurant as there was nothing that 2 of us would have eaten. Please get the easy stuff right or employ someone who can do. Thank you.

Saturday night meal whilst visiting Shropshire. Picked from the good reviews and recommendations on TA. Starters were very good. 3 fillet steaks were all cooked as requested but all 3 of us agreed that were over seasoned. Jack Daniels sauce and peppercorn sauce were both very poor. Sea bass dish was bland. Dessert was again not great. The semifreddo was very small and the cream quenelle was non existent. Think the chef was uninspired so just squirted a squiggle on the plate. Female staff very good, male staff member didn’t seem interested. All in all 6/10.

Had supper here on Friday evening, restaurant laid out perfect in accordance to social distancing regulations, the food was fantastic, one of the best steaks i have ever had! matched with attentive service.

I don’t give a 5-star review unless we can say to ourselves that it’s somewhere we would definitely go back to without hesitation, and this is definitely the case for 1727. They fitted us in at quite late notice for an evening meal and the person on the phone was very helpful and friendly. Clear social distancing has been arranged in the restaurant, and as tables left very stringent cleaning took place by the waiting staff: spray and wipe down of tables and chairs very thorough. This was really reassuring. The food itself was exceptional - everything was simply delicious! Calamari to start that had a light, crispy batter on it, and was piping hot. We then had fillet steaks cooked to perfection with a selection of sides. We finished with chocolate fondants with ice cream and a biscuit crumb - simply perfect! A really lovely meal out - thank you!

The food was delicious, brilliant service! We will definitely visit again very soon. Thank you very much 😊
