Sunday lunch for our family of 6+1 high chair. Friendly & efficient with a good range of choices including Sunday roast if required. Our son needed it after an early start for the Palace Half Marathon! Many thanks!

Gorgeous afternoon tea, service was impeccable, lovely selection of teas. Beautiful view of river. Was part of Regency afternoon tea package which included 2 tickets to Hampton court. Very organised and received tickets on arrival. Amazing day.

Dreadful. Second time we have had dinner at this restaurant. First time was good but this time it was dreadful. It was so cold and drafty that we all sat with our coats on throughout the evening and reading some of the other negative reviews it seems that you have a problem with the cold/draughts which you really need to address. Food was bland and tasteless. Service was lacklustre. Atmosphere was not good Portions were small so overpriced

Booked table for 4, shown to a table for 3, so a delay. Slow to take food order. Waited over one hour 15 minutes for food to arrive. Food quality when arrived was very good.

First visit here. Lunch booking as a birthday treat for a friend. Stunning setting, tasteful decor and great ambience. Greeted by very friendly staff and made to feel very welcome. We all enjoyed lunch, service was excellent. We had hoped to go into The Boathouse wine bar afterwards, that on the website, is stated to be open Thurs-Sat at 4pm but we were advised it was not open but we don’t know why. However, we went out onto the terrace for a while (until sunshine was gone) for drinks before retreating to the bar area. Overall we had a great afternoon and will return as well as recommend to others.

Came for my mums birthday. Really enjoyed our afternoon. Staff were very friendly and checked in regularly. We had the afternoon tea (and some cocktails!), both were delicious. We had a great view of the river. Looking forward to visiting again.

My absolute favourite!! Especially in the summer. Although I have only been three times, I know I will return whenever I have friends visiting- the whispering angel terrace is so cute, the food is delicious, and the waterside seating is so relaxing and very nice in the summer. They do have blankets and heaters in the outdoor seated areas. My personal favourite is the cauliflower popcorn - I think about it all the time. SO delicious!!

Afternoon cream tea for family birthday (101). The tea was home made and good quality. The service was great and went out of the way to make the occasion enjoyable.

We have visited The Mitre on numerous occasions for various meals. Evening dinner, themed dinner, Sunday Roast and drinks. Every time we received very professional and very friendly service from all the staff that were looking after us. The food on every occasion was very delicious. Our last visit was a Sunday Roast. I am a steak tartare lover and had a few of them up to date and the one at The Mitre was one of the best I have had. The roast beef was very good and tender, the seasonal vegetables completed the lovely dinner. Dan, the restaurant manager was one of the staff that looked after our table. Dan made us very comfortable and was very attentive. His knowledge of wines was very good and he explained his suggestions with a real passion. We will come back to The Mitre as the food and hospitality of the place never disappoints, the views and location are fantastic.

The venison rags was not great. It was more like a (rather average) soup with the pappardelle. It didn't really taste like venison either

We booked the fixed price NYE dinner and it was an all-around great experience. The restaurant was decorated beautifully and we had a great table overlooking the Thames (even though it was dark there was still a bit of a view). Staff was attentive and helpful and very friendly. We received a lovely greeting when we first came in. The meal was large - 4 courses - and I loved that you could choose everything prior to the event. The duck was very good. I do wish there had been a beef selection. The chocolate tart was absolutely perfect! Sadly we didn't stay for the entertainment as we were very tired but the set-up was great. Loved that we booked a room at The Mitre which made it so convenient. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The location and surroundings were fabulous and the service very good. Jessica the events manager was an absolute star. She worked really hard to accommodate us and fulfil our wishes. On to the food… The starters and sweets were excellent. Unfortunately the main event was a disappointment. Apart from some mains coming without roasts potatoes, due to an oversight. (This was corrected but shouldn’t have happen). The real problem was the turkey dinners and nut roast dinner were all served cold. We were not the only people to experience this. We did not complain at the time as we didn’t feel we wanted to add to the others complaints and spoil the ambiance. What I can’t understand is how in this day and age we cannot get a meal to the table hot? My only other feedback (and this is a just personal preference.) Is that there was another choice of meat available. Although traditional turkey is generally not most people favourite roast. Even at Christmas. As the orders are submitted weeks in advance I don't see why there couldn’t be a little more choice? I would recommend the restaurant for the staff and atmosphere alone. I also intend to give the restaurant a go, try a la cart menu on a normal week day / weekend. However, I would be reluctant to book Christmas Day again as although a nice experience, having a roast served cold is not acceptable.

Exceptional service, the staff are friendly and cannot do enough for you. The food is of outstanding quality. A must try is the popcorn cauliflower, which our table could eat a bucket of. The restaurant is also excellent value for money. I could not recommend it enough.

Lovely afternoon tea! Service slow to start but they were very busy! I single out Dan who was very professional and made us feel very welcome. Somewhat noisy initially as there were a lot of young children.

This Christmas Eve was part of a two night Christmas package. Despite being busy, the service was impeccable: fast, very friendly and meals exactly as ordered. The restaurant has bought in a bottle of Southern Comfort especially which I did my best to make use of. The food was good although the main course (in my case Chicken Milanese was a little bland.

As local residents new to the area, we I thought it would be fun to visit Hampton Court Palace with friends visiting from Canada and then have afternoon tea afterwards at The Mitre to warm up. We were all really looking forward to it and as it is one of the small luxury hotels of the world, we were sure the afternoon tea would be special. Unfortunately we were wrong. Whilst the food itself was fine, the whole experience was anything but special. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lady in jeans who continually referred to us as 'you guys'! We had to ask if we could put our coats somewhere other than on the backs of our chairs. Despite the restaurant not being full, we waited a significant time for our hot drinks to arrive. We were never once offered refills and in fact, had to try our best to attract someone's eye when we did require service, despite there being plenty of waiting staff around. How could the experience have been superb? Easy! The staff should be properly trained on how to address customers ('you guys' is not appropriate in a formal setting!); check that the customers have everything they need or if they would like anything else (which never happened). We couldnt even easily attract someone's attention to get or pay the bill. It's all such easy stuff! One more thing - the tea should be loose leaf. It makes such a difference. It's a shame, this could be our local 'go to' place, but at the moment, I don't see it.

Very disappointed with the standard of food cooked on Christmas Day. The roast was mediocre for the price of £150. Tragically, there was no stuffing. Why?? Mince pies were not even warmed up to make the pastry crisp; merely taken out of shop bought packaging…. Staff were delightful though! The money taken off our tip merely reflected the inferior food standard, not the service. I’m sorry we wouldn’t return or recommend friends to eat at The Mitre. Sara Howell. 25.12.24

Having previously eaten at the Brasserie and enjoyed food and atmosphere I was keen to book for Christmas Eve. The atmosphere and service was as good as ever. The food however was a pretty big disappointment being bland, in the case of my chicken Milanese with little flavour and quite dry despite the salsa verde. The cabbage side dish arrived late (we weren’t charged for it) and had an unpleasant texture and taste. The only redeeming plate was the popcorn cauliflower which was as tasty as ever. Will think twice before rebooking and will certainly wait till the menu changes before returning.

Brilliant dinner experience! Stylish interior, combined with the beautiful riverside view creates a sophisticated and cozy atmosphere. Every single team member that we interacted with were super friendly and helpful, from the host to the waitress! Food was also excellent, with the Mushroom Arancini being one of the highlights. Great options overall as we were tempted by many menu items. I highly recommend the 1665 Brasserie for anyone looking for a memorable experience!

First class service in a way that’s subtle yet so very indulgent and an utter treat. I’ve been going since it opened and have yet to experience anything less than brilliant. On one occasion the kitchen was overwhelmed and we had to wait too long.. in return they halved the bill. We’re all human and this restaurant is personal and does its best to make you feel welcome and special. Not perfect but close enough. Recommended. B

We went for Afternoon tea at the Mitre as a work do/catch up of two little local business owners. It was a treat and we had a lovely time but do have a touch of feedback. For £55 I would expect a really great afternoon tea, and whilst the selection of teas (including some delicious festive options) and the sandwiches were great, the scones were Ok and the cakes/pastries were not so good. Too sweet, slightly synthetic or just not particularly tasty which was a sad way to end the experience. We were also sat with a view of the river, which would have been fine if it weren't so cold. Service was good and we had lots of tea refills, as well as a glass of bubbly so the experience was nice - just felt a little over priced given the quality of the desserts.

The afternoon tea booked ended very disappointingly. When choosing the tea, was told we couldn't try different teas, could only choose one type each but could get as many refills as we want. Fair enough. First, food was excellent. Asked for replenishment and was told only one serving, no more. Okay.. bit of a let down. When we asked for another pot each of tea, we poured out basically hot water and just thought it hadn't steeped. Waited over 7 minutes and it was still clear. Asked the server if perhaps we received a different (paler) tea by mistake? No, she assured us, same tea because they were using the same tea bag! What sort of 4 star business reuses tea bags for a fresh pot of tea when we're told we can get more than one pot? That's just cheap. Put us right off ever booking afternoon tea on holiday again. Not to mention, the price from when we booked had increased and they didn't notify us or even mention in reminders of our reservation or when we arrived.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely overlooking the Thames. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our food came promptly and was absolutely delicious.

Snow, our waitress was very helpful and checked in on us regularly. We had a lovely festive lunch at the brasserie, over looking the river. The restaurant was decorated very tastefully for Christmas. They had plenty of gluten free and vegan options for my partner. I can highly recommend the calamari, It was fantastic! They also have koffman fries which are the best fries, so definitely get a side of them. We will definitely be back again.

Food, my Venison Ragu was excellent. My wife’s fish was good. In both cases a shortage of healthy vegetables was disappointing and was not even offered as a separate side order. Service / outstanding! Atmosphere- was very enjoyable until halfway through the meal a really loud woman spoiled it for many diners.

Food was very ordinary bland and fish was clearly not even close to fresh.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the 1665 Brasserie for their Sunday roast, and it was a delightful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a relaxing family meal. The roast itself was exceptional. The meat was tender and flavourful, cooked to perfection, and served with all the classic accompaniments. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. To top it all off, the dessert selection was tempting, and I couldn't resist indulging in the Whiskey Crème Brûlée, which was a wonderful way to conclude the meal. I had dinner here the night before a running race. One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in years. Lovely decor, lighting, atmosphere and kind, attentive staff. Was packed when I was here and deserves to do well

We took a friend for Sunday lunch as a special occasion. We had a 3pm booking, and although the starters and one of the mains (chicken roast) were delicious, two of the mains (beef roasts) were dry and seemed like they had been kept warm (the meat and the vegetables). One of those was returned and the replacement dish was very fresh and not dry, so the previous serving was definitely sub-standard and shouldn't have been served. The other beef roast was also dry but our friend didn't want to create a fuss, so kept it. He wasn't asked by the waitress if his was ok and needed replacing. In hindsight we should have insisted his was replaced as well. It was very disappointing and neither of these beef dishes should have left the kitchen, given they were so dry and the one that was replaced wasn't. It was such a shame that these dishes were served to us. A 3pm booking is later than a normal lunch time but the food being served at 3pm should be as fresh as the food being served at the start of the lunch sitting.

Delicious food and wonderful service. It was a shame that there were very few people in the restaurant but it was Friday lunch time. Special thanks for the lovely mini birthday cake that was presented to me - it was much appreciated and absolutely delicious. Will come back again soon
