Perfect spot for a lovely afternoon tea after a visit to Hampton Court. Great, friendly service, tasty food and a lovely interior and view - highly recommend!

Really enjoyed the Prams & Pinot wine tasting event. Please run more of these! A leaflet with the names of the wines would be a useful addition.

What a wonderful place for a relaxing break! We loved everything about it! The lovely house, the friendly and super helpful staff, the beautiful heated outdoor pool with its stunning countryside views, the spa, the relaxed atmosphere, and the little touches like the array of Wellington boots in all sizes for guests to borrow and the super detailed instructions for 5k, 7k and 10k local walks, which make it impossible to get lost! We ate in both restaurants, and the pan-Asian food in Yuzu in particular was fabulous. The only reason I have given the food 4 rather than 5 stars is because the breakfast buffet was rather underwhelming (much less choice than most hotels) and I felt the food in the main restaurant was more good gastropub than top quality restaurant standard. (Maybe I’m just lucky with my local gastropubs!) Overall our stay was excellent value (we were on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal) and we will definitely return.

We enjoyed an overnight stay at The Mitre for a birthday celebration mid week. We had afternoon tea when we arrived, dinner in the evening and breakfast the next day. The food was faultless, steak was cooked to perfection, crab linguine was delicious and the service and drinks were great! Breakfast the next morning was amazing as well! Would definitely recommend and return :)

An enjoyable family meal for 12, although our daughter’s order was wrong and everyone else had finished their meal before her correct order came.

Dinner here last night was an absolute refreshing treat. I can’t recall the last time I went to a restaurant and encountered such delightful, smiley and attentive staff. The food was superb. We rolled out of there not even able to fit a post feast espresso in. Thank you to your team for an exceptional evening.

We were so looking forward to special birthday lunch for my father and my sister has been in evening and said it had great menu and smart brasserie .. we had a very different experience. Even walking downstairs smelt fried food, smelt like a pub and not great. Staff were friendly and helpful buteni was very disappointing and limited.My sister and I chose chicken Milanese and it was awful, I ate 1/3 of it as very greasy chicken and then too much melted cheese on top. I was offered a salad but too late and not keen then. We were planning on staying for a long special lunch but couldn't wait to leave. The waitress told me something was coming for my dad's bday and then it didn't arrive (bday plate) and just not great at all. My sister booked the private booth for her husbands 50th in May for 10 guests and is going to cancel it now. Such a shame

12 of us visited for a Lunch celebration. Whist we loved the venue and couldn’t fault the service we found the lunch menu to be somewhat limited.

Such a wonderful venue just across from the castle. Spectacular service and menu at very reasonable prices. Beautiful view of the river.

We visited the the riverside brasserie at the mitre during Easter weekend. What a beautiful setting. The staff were wonderful, especially the manager. ( sorry can’t remember his name ) We had a beautiful lunch and some drinks. We had our 5 yr old daughter, the kids menu was fantastic and such a family friendly place. As the weather gets better we will definitely be back more often.

To be candid, the only reason we dined here is because they answered the phone when we called; I'm glad that the other restaurants didn't answer because I would never have found the amazingly talented Amelia who made me the best dirty Martini since Australia 2004. The service is impeccable and the staff are friendly and efficient. The.menu is varied but perhaps lacking in venison; we are after all in King Henry VIII domain. The wine list is extensive if not somewhat pricy for a bottle, however wine is my second favourite tipple to rum and one of my favourites, "Ron Zacappa" was on the menu so I went for a cheaper and supprisingly flavoursome white Granche that complimeted my wifes baked cod perfectly. I had the suckling pig and a second dirty Martini so at that point I really didn't care about wine. Desert was a delicious Pavlova followed by my anticipated Ron Zacappa rum. This was a good evening and I'm looking forward to my next visit. Update Nov 2023. Today haunch of venison was on the menu. I have to admit that it was the best I've ever tasted.

Steak was so raw that I sent it back. The second one was equally worse. The same was true for three others of our company. Rest of the food was OK-ish. But expensive for what you get, quantity and quality. Nice views too.

This place (posh pub) is in a great location although the food wasn’t very good but go for the river views you won’t be disappointed

Last minute booking for Saturday and got accommodated with a wonderful table for 2 , by the window, nice breeze and great views. Whispering Angel makes sense - as there’s a bar outside as such. Prawn cocktail starters are a regular and thoroughly recommend. Steak was ok. Let down slightly by in attentive service from the team. Not an issue , yet, as been many times before.. so do pay a visit for an amazing riverside atmosphere!

Found this location online for tea, website states that reservations are “recommended to avoid disappointment”. Looking at google the establishment was not busy so we stopped in, when we arrived the workers were carrying items up and down the stairs bumping into everyone without a care. At the host stand we were informed that all afternoon tea sittings must me made 24 hours in advance. We left the establishment as this was not the direction on their website.

I never leave reviews but this place is absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful views, food, and I never comment on this but the staff were absolutely fantastic - especially Dimitris the Manager. Thank you so much for making our time special. It was a perfect place for my mum Elena’s birthday, and I saw many other special occasions taking place. Thanks all :)

Good location and views but that is all they can offer!!! Reduced menu options with very expensive dishes for the quality/quantity. As soon as we entered to the restaurant and the waitress acomodate us to our table, we ordered the drinks and the food at the same time to avoid any long wait. We ordered a white wine, which was served 3 times wrong and at the 4th time "the lucky one"...but wine was served warm. After a while they brought us the starters ( as simple as few olives) and after 1h hour waiting since we finished our straters they served our food. We had to wave our hands to the waitress as they came out from kitchen with our food and they did not even know where they had to serve, Finishing of with the worst experience.. No desserts menu available to be eaten in the restaurant! As for that, you need to move to the terrace where they serve desserts and hot drinks, absolutely non sense. Please, think twice before booking a dinner/lunch in this restaurant.

I’ve been twice for lunch and dinner. The food was good both times. Dinner was a better experience but lunch was horrendous. I was in a group of 5 and I was one of two who didn’t order a starter. We even had to wait for a while to get the menu and order, but after the starters, we had to wait for another hour and a half for the mains so I waited around 2hrs for my meal. The food was still good but it’s really not worth it. There was a large table beside us and they got their food much quicker than we did so don’t come if the place is especially busy because the wait will be terrible.

We booked to dine here as we were staying at the Mitre Hampton Court Hotel. We were sat at a beautiful location with river views. Staff was very friendly and we were very well looked after. Since it was Sunday we had a roast as our main and it was delicious. Starters and pudding also did not disappoint. I would definitely go back to try other dishes.

Got charged £80 for missing a booking even though we did go to the booking and bought several drinks. Restaurant have said they would refund but haven’t.

Had a lovely time at the restaurant celebrating my mother's birthday. Drinks and food were fantastic and the ambience was amazing.

Food an hour late, same with every other table around us. Seems to be the same with every visit (third time and last). For the prices especially you'd expect a LOT better EDIT: To the owners response - your comment on our experience is almost as late as my main course was...4 months guys!

An awful Valentines experience! We were left with no choice but complain as we waited over an hour and a half for our main course.... After speaking to the manager, he miraculously brought over 2 main courses that had been clearly left out on the side.... the steak was full of fat and looked nothing like the persons next to us, the risotto was soggy and barely warm. He said there had been a mix up in the kitchen which meant they'd forgotten about our food! It is clear from the other reviews that it seems to be a reocurring issue at this restaurant.... I will never be returning and would strongly advise you against booking here.

We ae not a demanding family but experience not as good as expected for our pre-xmas meal. One meat eater in our group enjoyed that. Vegan and veggie starters ok but for main course I was dissappointed at options for my vegan niece. A vegan/veggie meal doesn't need to be loads of the same stuff, with no added greens, carrots for example (except as extra sides which are costly). The table was nice but sun was in our faces so asked for the blinds to be lowered. Of course then it was too dark to see what we had in front of us. My sister-in-law, brother and niece were also cold at their end of table. 5 of us, me with low appetite. Ok i treated us to a decent bottle of wine at £29. Removing that, the bill was £248. Wine and sorbet for just two of us were the best parts. I left a review on open table as directed only there. It has not been printed there, nor directly sent to restaurant as I opted for

Booked for a 50th birthday celebration. We asked for the best table in the restaurant and the team gave us exactly that. The food was excellent and as usual was only surpassed by the relaxed and very friendly but also obliging and attentive waiting staff. It may not be the cheapest but there’s no doubt it’s worth every penny.

Was disappointed for the recent two visits. One for lunch and one for dinner. Long waiting time between starters and mains and one of the main was overcooked so had to wait for another 15 minutes for replacement. To be honest the taste of food was very average of what we’ve been charged. I was in love with their Sunday Roast but given the poor service I am not planning to visit any more.

Lovely location but shoddy service and inconsistent quality make the high prices and limited menu impossible to justify. On this visit (definitely our last) we waited 40 mins for starters to arrive, and only when we complained a second time were we told that our order had been lost, and would take more than another 10 mins, so we left. At least they didn't charge us for the two drinks we'd had - small recompense for a spoiled afternoon.

Good food, service excellent and location beautiful. Had a lovely table by the window overlooking the river and the bridge. Highly recommended.

The food is really good and we enjoyed the ambience. However, while we ate, the woman sitting at the table next to us outside was smoking in what was a non-smoking area and was not told to put out her cigarette by the staff. Can you kindly make sure that no smoking signs are placed everywhere so people know not to smoke in the patio dining area? The smoking area needs to be made clear and smoking violations need to be taken seriously.

A little hidden Gem in the heart of Hampton Court. The food was extremely well presented and full of flavour. Service was exceptionally good - thank you to the team for a great lunch experience.

Really lovely terrace bar and restaurant right on the water. We didn't eat but the menu looked great. The staff were pretty awful though, and made you feel you were an irritation rather than the people who pay their wages.

the food is good but i came here twice both times i had to wait more than 45 minutes to get the main dish

Nice location, but poor service standard. Table wasn't clean when we sat down - had to ask a waiter to do it. The windows of the Rotunda dining room were dirty, and there were flies buzzing around. Staff stood around chit-chatting to each other rather than attending to their business, as well.

Gorgeous meal, lovely surroundings. Food was delicious. Service a tad on the slow side (apart from when you ask for the bill!) but a lovely evening.

We found this little jem the Sunday roast was amazing the service was on point I highly recommend going there I'm also very luck my boat will be 2min for there 😁🤤😁🤤

Expensive and poor food quality. No decent Chef was involved in the making. The £45 bavette was so chewy my jaw was aching. Comes with a bit of rocket on the side straight from the bag… very disappointing. The menu is made of various pasta dishes… with truffle in it so they can charge over £20 for it. We also had the chicken milanaise with a bit of spinach with it. Another cheap recipe that was a bit bland and that any “student” with a minimum amount of willpower could have cooked in their accommodation. Anyway another overpriced pompous restaurant… don’t bother if you’re after good food.

Food and drinks that arrived were good and matched the price. Our mains never came “because your order fell behind in the kitchen but don’t worry they’re now at the front of the queue”. Got strong vibes of your order was never entered. Paid £80 for drinks/nibbles and left after 70 mins of waiting and repeatedly asking. They discounted the service charge which was nice I guess. Went to Green and Lovely instead and had a wonderful experience.

Really Poor food ordered starter prawn cocktail - minuscule and dry pathetic salad. Main course Pasta crab - tiny portion bland greasy and full of shell but no crab. Pasta asparagus - bland greasy and told to put Tabasco and parmesan cheese in it as vegan and meant to be bland!!! Wine was rose £50 and tasted cheap told to put liqueur in it to brighten it up and then they charged for it. Place felt mean and cheap and just cashing in on location and french speaking waiters. Avoid or just go for bog standard drinks

Really lovely. Staff are incredibly good, they seem to give 110%. Really friendly with my children, one even spent some time entertaining them. Food is excellent. Amazing location and decor. Can't wait to go back.

Terrible for gluten free. Only option on the menu was a small Caesar salad. They didn’t even have a plain steak. Also, we went on a Sunday and there was no roast on the menu.

It was our first time visiting this restaurant last night. When we arrived, the atmosphere was cosy and sophisticated. We started with passion fruit martinis which were very good. The wine menu was great and we picked a smooth Chenin Blanc which they agreed to serve in a carafe as we didn’t want a whole bottle. The starters were outstanding. So delicious. I went for confit duck with a truffle oil over a cheese salad. For the main, I went for monkfish which was out of this world good, with salty capers and shredded sprouts. Desert was lemon tart and it was delicious and light. Even the coffees at the end were perfect. The service was also great, perhaps a little lacking in knowledge - when we asked if it was recommended to order a side with our mains, we were told ‘it depends how hungry you are’ which made me chuckle. It was a cold day outside and we were sat by the window which was lovely (and would imagine being beautiful on a sunny day) but we did feel a little cold. All in all though, a very nice evening with incredible food. We will definitely be back.

Excellent service and a lovely Sunday roast!

Great restaurant at a beautiful location by the river. Its a really lovely indoors with plenty of comfortable seating arrangements which is also great for large groups and a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. We were in the outdoor seating overlooking the river which is brilliant on a sunny day but very cold in the winter. They have an outdoor open fire but this creates mainly smoke and the outdoor heating is rubbish. The menu for outdoor tables is different (not sure why) and its not as good as the indoor menu and dishes. The food outdoor was alright, nothing special or outstanding, it was ok only. The service is incredible. Plenty of friendly professional well trained staff that do an excellent job of looking after the guests. Just don't sit outside unless the weather is good enough to do so.

Lovely setting. The restaurant though looks a bit tired inside. Bit pub like. We ordered the Châteaubriant for our main but to be honest the only hot food was the chips. The chips were great. The starters were a bit bland too. Disappointed to be honest for what they are charging. French Table for us next time in Surbiton. Much better food and it’s hot.

What a turnaround! This has gone from a forgotten pub in an amazing location to a vibrant place that serves great food and drink, making the most of the riverside location, right opposite Hampton Court Palace.

Below average food, above average price and abysmal service. We sat on the terrace. 2 young ladies covered the whole area, and they were never there. Eventually we managed to grab the attention of a young man who was covering a different area and did a reasonable job considering he was covering a different part. Took ages to order and drinks were very slow in arriving. Food was ok but not worth the high prices. Crab and lobster tortellini was very poor and lacking in flavour. Neither the tortellini or sea bass in miso broth came with a spoon for the liquid in spite of being served in a bowl. Highlight of the food was raspberry soufflé. Otherwise very forgettable. It too us 4 hours to eat a 3 course meal, and we constantly had to stop a waiter / waitress to order things, rather than having them appear. Not going back - in spite of lovely setting. Avoid is my recommendation.

We visited today for Father’s Day with our 8 month old. Every member of staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to help us with our baby. The food and drinks were superb. High quality dining in such a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Fully recommend.

Dropped in this evening and it’s delightful. Recently very well refurbished and reopened. Delicious menu (try the popcorn cauliflower nibbles!) and attentive staff, with a fab outdoor area on the riverside. Happened to meet the owner as we popped into the hotel for a look around afterwards too. Highly recommended
