1580 Contemporary Indian Dining in Birmingham

It is so bad now. Overpriced for tiny portions. about 18 quid for a tiny portion of tikka and pakora, and both tasted like s***. McDonalds, Sam's Chicken, Greggs is better than 1580's food now. Everything from this place WAS divine. Whatever you changed, it was a mistake.

Fabulous food . I am very happy also with a good vegetarian selection. There was a mushroom side dish that was also really good. Service is very good and attentive. Don't be put off by the decor. It's a bit of a mismatch, but it doesn't take away from the quality of the food.

Delicious food, lovely staff, Hygiene rating 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and a great atmosphere. This place is definitely well worth a visit. I've just been here with my friends during our holiday, and we each thoroughly enjoyed an amazing indian delicious meal. Will definitely be coming back again for more next time..

This Nepalese/Indian restaurant offers bursting, explosive flavours from the exquisite dishes. Contemporary is the essence of the cuisine. The owner, a distinguished chef ensures attention to detail. The decor of the restaurant is wonderful, great choice of beers and wines. Only four stars for atmosphere as there were few diners..this beautiful, gem of a restaurant is missed as it is in a poor location. Highly recommended for superb food at reasonable cost.

Nearly 2hrs after my order was made, over an hour late and on one occasion I was told order on way but 20mins later still not arrived so call again as 10/15mins away from restaurant

This is my second visit and omg there food is amazing. I had chicken momos and samosa chaat as starter and they hit the spot. There momos reminds me of my home country Nepal. They were so juicy and flavorful. As main i had their new mir mire chicken with some garlic naan and it was so rich in flavour. The naan was very soft and it compliments the curry. For drink how i had their new beer which is called Nepali beer and it was good as well. The staff were amazing and helpful as always. She always has a smily face and fulfil whatever the customer needs.

Sorry to say this wasn’t good. If you like hot this is for you! But a chicken korma is not supposed to be spicy hot!!!!

Booked the restaurant for my parents 30th birthday. The staff was very friendly and out to please and very hands on when you needed anything. We booked the entire restaurant for the evening and we all had a great night with some lovely food. The Onion bhaji and Lamb Balti was my favorite. They also offer cocktails on a deal 2 for £12 which was lovely. Thankyou for having us we had a lovely evening. I will definitely be coming back for a family meal some time ( Just the 4 of us this time 😆 )

ordered a tikka masala and got a really spicy balti (tasted like something out of a jar from a supermarket, same as the naan, tastes store brought) and onini bahji's were burnt to a crisp. Will not be ordering from here again

This was the first restaurant I visited in Birmingham, and I absolutely loved the food. It was full of flavour and felt like authentic Indian cuisine. I went here with a couple of my mates, and while we couldn’t try everything, the menu had so many enticing options. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. For the portion sizes, the prices are well-balanced. I highly recommend this place to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet. I really enjoyed my experience and will definitely visit again the next time I’m in Birmingham. Thank you!

Absolutely without doubt the finest Just Eat order I’ve ever made. Good was perfect.

I'll preface this by saying I don't really like Indian food in general, as I'm not a fan of rice or heavily sauced dishes, but I'll be damned if that wasn't one of the best meals I've had at any restaurant, ever! Outstanding service, superior quality food, and as we ordered a wide variety of dishes, they staggered the service perfectly so we had a steady stream of new and delicious dishes to devour. For people like me who don't want a sloppy bowl of curry, they had tonnes of options - From the chaat bombs to the variety of seasoned chips, right up until the insanely good tandoori mixed grill, it was sheer perfection. Will be going here every time I come back to the area, and it's that good, I'll go out of my way to visit.

A hidden gem, food is excellent, staff are very nice, If you haven't been here you should give it a go. Chef and staff are very personable and they cater for your dietary needs, 5 star.

Excellent place to try authentic nepalese and indian food. The environment was welcoming and very peaceful. Serving staff were very humble and did take care of us very well. The food is best especially momos and all the curries which we have ordered were fabulous. The staff were very friendly and had quick service. Very hygienic and clean.

This is a real hidden gem. Delicious Nepalese and Indian food and friendly service. Recommend the momos and the Handi Gohst in particular.

Somtimes you come accross a little gem and this is definitely one of the best. Doesn’t look much from outside but inside is the best quality Nepalese food I have had in a long time. The mo mo , the lamb chops and the curry is authentic and amazing. The staff are lovely and the atmosphere is quiet and welcoming. It would be so easy to pass this place but 1580 is worth finding and their cocktails and drinks are great. Not a huge menu but each dish prepared perfectly possibly because they don’t have to waste time on a huge menu no one wants I seriously would recommend this restaurant and I’m a discerning Scot so I know what I like.

Be a very long time before I even think going here again, if I ever do. Went with a group, some of whom got a good service. After one party member phoning ahead to ask if we could bring our own alcohol and being told yes, on arrival we were told we couldn’t and had to use their bar. Not a big deal really, but the beer drinkers said the beer was awful and did as a result, open their own drinks. The wine was ok. Table was sticky. Service from my point of view, was a complete shambles. Cold plates, cold rice and an order not received. Very disappointing as the food did look nice.

Food was great, really tasty. Really nice people serving. If I one complaint was that the timing of bringing food out was a little off, but quality of food more than made up for it. Will definitely be eating here again.

if there was a zero, l would give this place that! The food was Awfaul, ordered some currys and l could not believe anyone can produce such food and sell it to clients. This place must have changed hands, they used to have good food years ago! Avoid!!

Never order from this place...ever. The food didn't turn up and every time we called they gave some rot that it was on its way. I just gave up in the end. Terrible.

Idiot delivery driver couldn’t understand simple English I said 4 times your not downstairs in my building he replied with no I am downstairs I traveled from upstairs to go downstairs he was not there complete idiot and waste of time didn’t get my food after waiting a hour not happy at all

Food was average. Poppadoms were stail. Not enough onion salad, mint sauce or mango chutney with poppadoms. Long wait for mains to come out the rice was cold and very small portions for the price wont be returning

Order placed at 1745. Estimated delivery was 1835-1855. At 1915 I called the restaurant to chase and was told that my delivery driver was out. Called again at 2000 and 2015- no answer. Assuming what I was told when I first called was correct, my food had now been with the delivery driver for well over an hour and so can’t possibly still be hot. It’s now 2030, kids are hungry, I’ve ordered from elsewhere and will be requesting a refund.

Terrible service and dine-in experience. Food arrived cold and naan bread was tasteless - would go as far as saying it was shop bought! Waitstaff were inattentive and would have to ask for basic things such as clearing the table, cutlery and napkins. This will be my first and last experience at this restaurant.

Super yummy food, with reasonable prices. Was wondering why the prices were so high, didn't know that it was a licensed restaurant. But the food was wonderful and tasty with different hints of taste every time I had a bite. Dips, chutneys were also provided in large portions. Definitely going to visit again soon.

Meal very average, rice odd, popperdoms in a basket In pieces (I know that’s how it should be but again odd) tiny dips, small main plates which was awkward , freezing restaurant, sticky tables, ice cold water in bathroom to wash your hands and when your already freezing, it just wasn’t a nice experience.

This place has gone so downhill. We used to be regulars and the service and atmosphere were brilliant, we turned up today to chaos and mess. Had booked for 7:30 and were told to sit at our table - but the place had a huge party messy party and our table had a coat and child sitting on it. When we complained the waiter had no clue what to do. We asked to speak to manager and he was too scared to talk to us. Absolute shambles, we left and took our business elsewhere

Naan breads were not fresh, onion bhajis looked sad and soggy and the korma tasted completely of vegetables. Portions were decent and delivery time was good. I did order late-ish though so it might not be like this usually

My friends and I met up since we were located around the country this place was middle ground. Had never been or heard of this restaurant before however we were pleasantly surprised. The front of house was new but was extremely helpful and friendly. The food was incredible and reasonably priced, we had an issue with our first draught beer but the issue was quickly rectified with no fuss. We chatted for a short while with another staff member there who informed us of the history and how it came to be. All in all a really pleasant experience and we have found our meeting point for future.

Very disappointed with our first dinner experience here. The place was empty, deadly quiet and cold. No music so a bit strange when you’re the only diners. Service was slow and the front of house guy was just unhelpful and incompetent at his role. He needs some training before facing customers. Ordered the mixed grill and i didnt get any of the lamb chops or fish bites as stated in the menu! Don’t recommend and doubt we’ll ever return.

A wonderful place - with great food and service. We hired the restaurant for a family party and they delivered fabulous curry, drinks and service. Can’t fault the place. The owner and staff are so accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend either as a place for a small family meal - the Nepalese food on the menu is top class and worth trying if you haven’t had it before - or as a party venue. Thanks all!

Very good! Quirky, Well worth a visit, tasty Nepalese/ Indian food at a reasonable price. The roti were exceptional and the naan bread too. Lots of unusual dishes to choose from .

Not Indian, but Nepalese, has beer made in Lichfield for the Restaurant, just a bit different, Ram runs a lovely restaurant. Ask him the background to the name, top food, family restaurant, recommended

The quantity was really less and the taste was bad. Did not taste authentic at all, the sheek kebab and naan tasted rather undercooked.

I think some of the reviews from this page are completed by people that the restaurant know or either by the restaurant themselves as the food wasn't up to the best of standards as expressed by people reviewing this restaurant. Furthermore, the portions were extremely small and pricey for what you get and some services were not available as they advertised cocktails and mocktails but didn't have any to serve. In addition to this, the atmosphere for a Saturday night was horrendous as the restaurant was completely empty and even with the restaurant being empty some of the food was still cold. I went to this restaurant entirely because the reviews I read were good but I wouldn't recommend it. I haven't nothing against this restaurant but I was just extremely disappointed for what I paid.

Great little curry house with good selection of dishes that are beyond the usual curry house dishes. We went on Sunday evening and first ordered with this some poppadoms with their chutney selection, the onion cucumber bowl was clearly fresh made as was crunchy. Then saw that they have the thali dish as option for Sunday and Thurs so we ordered one each, this fantastic option you get main along with rice bread, daal, aubergine and potato dish, chutney and sweet. I ordered the nanas lamb ghost, this was excellent well cooked tender lamb on the bone with well spiced gravy. To drink had the IPA, they have a good collaboration with local brewery, trinity beer.

The food was watered and under seasoned and portions much smaller than before.
