This is a lovely little country pub with a real authentic atmosphere. We had the burgers which were absolutely incredible. I have to say, the homemade chips are by far the best chips I’ve ever tried. Really really good. It’s a must when you visit here! The service was excellent, friendly & prompt. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

Have eaten here several times in the last few years and find the Hood Arms consistent in the high standard of their food. Recommended.

We’d eaten here a few times about 4 years ago, when our daughter was at Foxes Academy, and had fond memories. TBF, we arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation, and there was a large party there - so the kitchen was overwhelmed; but our table was set for 4, even though we reserved for 5. We had to eventually ask for another setting. Bad start. Staff friendly, but had poor knowledge of the menu. We ordered by 8:15, including starters and garlic bread. We hadn’t even had garlic bread by 9pm, and my husband’s blood sugar was very low by then. I asked that something be brought over immediately for him to eat, and they brought some stale toasted bread. Garlic bread came soon thereafter, and nonchalantly dropped on the table. We all had a look in the lasagna to try and locate any meat, and found some remnants near the bottom layer (the sauce also had a weird neon colour). My son said the pizza was sadly the worst he’d ever had, and both my sons bought more food elsewhere afterwards (annoying after a rather hefty bill). Only one choice of wine: house. OK, but not great. Pasta and seafood salad OK, but seafood from frozen; and way too much garlic (and I love garlic, so that’s saying a lot!). I really wish I had better things to write, but sadly can’t. Also spent the entire meal looking at cobwebs in the twig display; but they were dwarfed by the huge one covered in dust behind the large adjacent plant (see photos). I would try again if reviews show improvement, or even for the £5 lunch special (as wouldn’t at least feel overcharged).
