We adore the John Seldon because it is so old school. It is warm and cosy, homely and welcoming. It is not fancy, so it would depend on your preference in terms of what the occasion is. If you are looking for delicious food, generous portions, happy, well-behaved patrons, many, of the older generation, friendly service and a warm welcome - this is the place. The fish and chips is really good, and once you've had their chips, even if you're not starving, you will still want to order a plate to savour, while enjoying your favourite tipple. To a SAFFA, Worthing is mostly a huge disappointment in terms of chips, because in SA, we do chips, proper. But at the JS, they know their way around a potato and a fryer. This is a welcoming space, which we rate as an important element. South Africans can feel whether non-British people are really welcome. At the John Seldon, we always feel at home. To top it off, they serve Beavertown Neck Oil beer, which is my absolute favourite, so that just adds to the mix! 👌🏼
