I'm so absolutely flabbergastro that this place still exists and is (erratically) open that I had to join this site and write a review. Blustery windy day, lost around an unrecognisable Fitzrovia and thinking back to old jobs and pubs and people from times gone-by... looking for a coffee, all that sh... stuff on Store Street is shut for some reason (filming?)... cross over Tott, thinking of the museum or something, and then BANG there it is with the lights aglow... Sids! I used to go here decades ago pre-crisis 1, and talk about whether fat Ronaldo was the better Ronaldo with the owner (we agreed he was) and never thought this place would have survived London generally, let alone covid. But... here it is. Food cheap ish for the area, nice enough, genuine home-cooked stuff on the go (one pot style, nothing fancy), coffee won't win awards but it's proper caffeinated mud, Italo style. Seems the youth of the Sidoli family has taken on the task of running it, and good on them, I hope it lasts forever. Still can't believe I just went in there... mindblown.

I was very impressed by their extensive selection of goods and their friendliness but i was astounded at the bill they presented me for the following: 1 half of a cheese (perhaps Caciocavallo or Caciocampana) about 1kg. 150g of proscituo crudo 1 packet of cantucci 1 packet of amaretti I was charged £48.00 for this selection. I didn't question it at the time but it did seem to be extortionate for such s small selection.

...I thought long and hard whether to review at all, but whilst I like good local restaurants, there are certainly better ones than this and at £90 plus for 4 you might be better spending your hard earned elsewhere in this instance... We went over Easter and it did feel a little Fawlty Towers when asking what wine they had to be effectively told they had two types - red & white, and that's it, two bottles of white, one of red. We ordered starters which took about 50 mins to come and they'd nipped out in the meantime to buy the Italian meats I suspect (we did see them go out and come back ten mins later). They also said that the focaccia was fresh but unfortunately it was far from it. The mains were woeful - we all went classic - Chicken Milanese (which used the wrong sauce), meatballs (which were actually Spag Bol), Parma Ham & Mushroom pizza ( the base was so tough you couldn't cut through it) and Carbonara (which to be fair was ok). In the end we laughed and put it down to experience but our friends decided to bring up the meatballs issue - the lady was apparently visibly upset but blamed the chef and didn't try to remedy the situation. They often say you know how good a restaurant is by how they deal with problems, and this one didn't... There's not a lot of alternative in Hoylake, but what there is significantly better than Bella Mamma's.

I ordered Spaghetti Bolognese, cannelloni and garlic bread. The food was absolutely disgusting, I've never tasted anything so awful in my life. Really disappointed.

We booked a take away for 5-30 so we turned up bang on time thinking we might have to wait a bit but we didn’t as we walked in the final pizzas came out the oven . We ordered a marguerite for my daughter which she loved, pepperoni for my son which he loved ,I ordered a Nduja which I loved as well but I start of the show was my wife’s prosciutto and whole burrata stole the show and yes you guessed it she loved hers as well. We loved it so much we had to take the guys in the restaurant some very cold beers for after service that night which I hope they enjoyed and yes we went back again the other night and bang on as good again but I didn’t have any cash for beers this time sorry.

The food, service and value for money is top class and the best Mediterranean spot in the area. Great wine and selection of dishes. Will certainly be back soon.

Fantastic family run wine bar which has been part of the fabric of Sheen for over 40 years. It was refurbished during Covid so is fresh and modern, but retains its original charm. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, they have a great selection of wines and the hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Leonardo Wine Bar is one of three restaurants/ cafes that the family runs which all interlink, so you can choose between the white table cloths of Mamma Mia or the more relaxed atmostphere of the Wine Bar. There is also a beautiful garden which almost fels like being abroad. One of the best kept secrets in SW London!
