Brilliant evening with friends and Derek was an absolute star! We were seated immediately on our arrival and our drinks order was taken quickly and arrived quickly. The food came at a suitable speed and everything we had was excellent. However the best part of the evening was Derek who looked after us brilliantly. So we will definitely go back! Thank you Derek.

We came for a pre theatre dinner. It was a good job we came early. We waited half an hour for our starter, which turned out to be two mushrooms! 3 couples who arrived after us had been given their starters before ours arrived. The food was nice enough but the service was poor. There was no apology for the delay. The couple opposite were seated at a table which was only partly cleared from the previous diners until 40 minutes into the meal and another lady had to ask for toilet paper in the toilets. It’s a great location for the theatre, it looks nice and the food is decent. With some staff training it could be a great place.

I have visited many Caffè Nero branches and every time I come to this Hanley branch I am shocked by the rudeness of the staff. There is a particular member of staff that is the worst, a lady with very short/ shaved at the back mousy blonde hair and glasses. She never makes eye contact, makes deep sighs when she has to serve anyone, and service with a smile is obviously completely out of the question. Sometimes I have used a code for a free coffee in here and as soon as she realises that I am going to use one of these codes, the rudeness increases ten fold. She may aswell order me out of the shop. It's embarrassing for Caffè Nero because in other branches I never have this problem. Something needs doing about the staff in this branch because honestly it happens on every single visit.
