B and b for us after a nearby family wedding. Perfect in every way. Attentive service by all the staff we encountered. Large, light airy bedroom. Enormous comfortable bed and all facilities laid on - real milk in a little fridge along with all the hot drink making facilities was very welcome. Peaceful quiet night and a very varied choice for breakfast. After the cereals/continental items its a choice of anything off the cooked menu from kipper, through smoked salmon and scrambled egg to full yorkshire cooked breakfast (vegan items also available) 5 stars in whatever criteria you wish to consider in my opinion.

Lovely country pub. Sunday lunch is a must. Excellent value for money.

Primera vez comiendo aquí como habíamos oído que tenían nuevos propietarios / chef recientemente. La comida era muy muy buena y mucho mejor que el pub del pueblo promedio. Muy buenos clásicos de pub pero con todo hecho muy bien. El pescado con patatas fritas que tuve fue fantástico y todos disfrutaron de su comida. El servicio era bueno y los precios en general eran muy justos. Tuvimos el vino Vinho Verde con nuestra comida y fue excelente.

We popped in for lunch while we were in the area and I'm so glad we did. We just managed to get in before the kitchen closed after lunchtime, food is served until 2:30pm. We ordered sandwiches which came with fries and a little side salad. Really tasty and arrived hot. I can safely say I was quite full afterwards. Chap behind the bar was very polite and friendly. The toilets are quite small and the feminine bin really needed emptying but that could be down to an external contractor not emptying it. All in all a great place and so cosy I could have stayed all day.

Read the previous review but given that the #1 in Twatwith was fully booked, we had no choice. We were setting up an offshore tax haven for a local Fish and Chip shop owner who has an amazing collection of toy cars, so it was an important meal. There seemed to be more emphasis on alcohol than food. The laminated single page A4 menu was a bit of a shock and looked to have been nibbled by dogs. Pizza was served lateish and we may have been a little drunk but there was no need for the owner to wear budgie smugglers. Just about worthy of it’s one star rating for lovely people.
