Exceptional dinner and breakfast. Rooms have a high quality homely feel. I would come again if in the area.

So upset, booked a table, received a confirmation only to sit outside for half an hour. The pub is in order inside, but must no longer be in business? No notification, shouldn’t be taking bookings. Phone disconnected.

Myself and my friend John had a wonderful overnight stay here when we visited Thirsk racecourse. The owner Alice went beyond the call of duty when we arrived early and also when we were looking for transport to the track. The establishment was spotless with a great car park facility. The breakfast was first class. We are only sorry we never had the time to sample the Cantonese restaurant. Thanks Alice for your kindness and the friendly welcome. We will hopefully be back in the near future to visit Ripon racetrack. Scott and John.

Had a beautiful Sunday lunch here last week with the family. We were early for our reservation so were seated in the bar area for drinks before hand with menus to browse. Great wine selection with some classics to more interesting selections all priced very reasonably. Also worth a mention beer options some local ales and more 'craft' brews too. The set 2 & 3 course lunch menus are superb value. The dining room bright and spacious but still feels nice and cosy with lit candles and coloured clothed tables. We opted for the Merguez and Duck Prosciutto starters too share followed by Roast Sirloin & Pork for mains. Would 100% recommend the Leeks Mornay supplement to accompany the mains as they were truly delicious! Finished off strong with a Banoffee Tart & one of the tastiest Crème Brûlées I've had in memory. White Chocolate & Raspberry. Soo so tasty. Thank you for a lovely afternoon. Look forward to a return visit.

Lovely beer garden especially on a pleasant day. The landlady seemed quite abrupt and not particularly welcoming. The sandwiches we had were good but expensive for what you get compared to other establishments

Booked an evening meal while visiting the area. The food was lovely and well presented. Staff attentive. Only gripe I had my steak was overcooked. I ordered rare but there wasn’t any pink in there at all. Only consolation was it was tasty and thankfully not tough. We had finished our meal before anyone asked if everything was ok. The server did say she wished we had alerted her as she would have sorted it and I believe she would have. Had the steak been rubbish I would’ve complained but feel it would have been unjustified. We will return when we are next in the area as the food was generally top notch with good portions.
