The Pop Inn
Saltcoats and Stevenston, North Ayrshire
23/09/2021: Had lunch and a few pints earlier in this pub Doesn't look anything special from outside or even when you walk in Value for money ... and the food served up was really nice . 3 courses , 4 people , and a couple of drinks each £25 pH Brilliant value Good quality food Clean plates all roundWill be back ,
04/08/2021: From the outside you would think that this is just a small old man's dive pub, and you would easily walk passed it without even giving it the time of day.Only visited after a work colleague told me that the food they sell is brilliant and would surprise me once I actually did visit. One Saturday afternoon I had been at the football and could not be bothered to go home and cook, or get a carryout somewhere, so thought I would take the chance of giving the Pop Inn a shot.As soon as you walk in, you find yourself in a nice modern bar with comfy chairs and tables, good music and really friendly staff.Even the menu, you would think it would just be simple pup classics, but its really packed with great choices and at knock down prices.Ordered the Pop Inn Burger and a pint of Tennants, and was freshly prepared in no time and very tasty.Staff really go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. Will be back along again in future for sure!

The Wee Windaes
Ayr West, South Ayrshire
12/11/2023: This pub is a gem. It is in Newmarket Street Ayr. From entering the pub till leaving, we had a fantastic time. Jim is the host with the "most".Made us feel most welcome. So full of "scottish patter" made us laugh so much. Felt as if we had one of the "locals" for years. This wee pub is a must to visit when in Ayr
05/03/2023: The best "real" pub in the town. Proper 1/4 gills, none of this half a drink racket. Staff are outstanding and the locals are friendly and welcoming. Only bad bit is both the seats in the ladies loo's slip and pinch your legs ! Other than that, you will have to go far to find a better pub in Ayrshire. Walk past this pub and you will be missing out.

The Waterside

21/11/2023: Great friendly bar good value great karaoke . Clean traditional good selection drinks great staff xxx
03/06/2022: Super friendly bar in centre of Largs, I was down in the area on business for a few days and popped in twice - excellent and friendly staff that knew there job and how to treat customers. First night I was there football was on and the bar area was busy but very well managed, no problems whatsoever. I dropped in again the next evening and the lady working the bar remembered my drink and chatted away about the local area. I would certainly recommend and will drop in again on my next visit to Largs.

I have been to this place twice, disappointed the 1st time, but thought I'd give it another chance but wish I hadn't bothered because it was worse than the 1st time.

Scots Bonnet

20/03/2020: Visited for a late lunch and chose from the 2 for 10.99 menu. This proved to be very good value as the meals were delicious- arrived quickly were tasty and piping hot. Service was pleasant and Dan was chatty and helpful Would recommend this as a great place to visit after some retail therapy at the nearby shops
14/03/2020: Stopped in for lunch today after cinema. Very reasonable prices and that was before my 20% discount thanks to my AA app!Although quiet it was warm and staff were very friendly. No long waits for food which both myself and the kids enjoyed. Very family friendly with a park outside and lots of big and small kid options on menu.

Brewers Fayre Monkton Lodge
Kyle, South Ayrshire
19/11/2023: Lovely continental breakfast great choice and special mention to young guy think his name was Nickoli for the perfect customer service in a nuce relaxed enviroment with christmas music on in background well done Monkton
17/11/2023: Let’s start with the positive. The young man at the bar taking orders was incredibly pleasant. Unfortunately it went swiftly downhill from there.
Toilets - disgusting. Two fully blocked. One with a broken seat. None of them flushing.
Service within the soft play area. Awful. Not only did the young girl say she didn’t actually like kids, but her attitude towards the three families was terrible.
Five children’s dinners ordered - and three came ten minutes before the remaining two. And the tables hadn't been wiped down for goodness knows how long.
The staff clearly have no interest in customers as they hang around in groups and ignore customers when they are clearly waiting for cutlery, drinks, to name but a few of the issues.
Suffice to say we will not be returning to the Monkton Lodge.
