Sadly, this pub is no longer a traditional pub but more of a restaurant with prices to match (although dogs are welcome, one even sitting on a chair!) The fish and chips were so bad they had to be refunded—a ridiculously thick piece of haddock that was only just cooked in the middle, with dark, hard batter and soggy skin left on the fish (who wants to eat that?!). The plate was swimming in what they claimed was lemon oil, but it tasted like butter—as if fish and chips aren’t greasy enough already! The chips (or rather, potato wedges) were awful—thick-skinned, completely soggy, overcooked and nothing like proper chips. The rib-eye steak in a roll with the same wedges was equally disappointing, tough and underwhelming. The one saving grace was the warm and friendly welcome, and the owner was gracious enough to refund the barely eaten fish, but unfortunately, the food let the place down massively. Whatever happened to good old home-cooked pub food at reasonable prices? Such a shame.

Enjoyed our pickled eggs and night cap whilst pass through on Satuday night. Great chat with the locals
