The best restaurants serving British food in Tale Vale East Devon South West

Nice local pub offering good food. Staff are friendly and the menu offers a good choice of pub food and more restaurant type dishes. Worth a visit

We've been to the Otter Inn on several occasions over the last 4 years or so. Always having wonderful food and great service. But not today. The beef was so rare that it looked like it was about to jump off the plate and run away. The swede was like water, and there was a nasty taste to it. The apple sauce looked like baby food and not in a good way. We expected so much more from such a lovely little carvery, and it's not one of the cheaper places, but you should get what you pay for. After speaking to the manageress who was amazing, we only paid for 3 of the 5 meals. But unfortunately that will be the last time we visit!

A really lovely and welcoming community pub. The landlord went out of his way to make us feel at home and was very attentive to our needs. The pub had a great atmosphere and we chatted to both the staff and punters when we were there. Would thoroughly recommend.

Stopped for coffee and cake between Christmas and new year after a dog walk. We were very apologetic as we were a bit muddy and had 2 muddy dogs with us. But the staff just took it all in their stride and weren't concerned at all. Great cake and lovely coffee. But more than that it's such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Definitely recommend a visit.
