The best restaurants serving British food in Hurworth Darlington North East

I went for Christmas afternoon tea in The Orangery at almost £60pp with my parents for a bougie little treat before Christmas. The setting was beautiful, the staff were lovely and the drinks were delicious. But the food? Well...the sandwiches were nice and they were adjusted to cover allergies we have. The cakes were yummy but I've had crackerbread with more moisture than those scones. They were overmixed, stale and no amount of double cream (no clotted cream here I'm afraid) could fix that dryness. The booking cost extra due to the choir who was to be signing carols while we ate, but that lasted maybe 5 minutes and while they were good they certainly weren't worth the £8 up charge to hear. If you don't care about what you're eating and simply going because you want to go for Afternoon Tea in a 5 star establishment then this is perfect for you. But if you'd rather spend your hard earned money on something that doesn't taste like it's been sat for three days before being served then I'd avoid here and find an alternative. Very disappointed.

First time here today after hearing good things and it not disappoint, service from the guy behind the bar was outstanding (didn’t catch his name) he made sure we got through the queue in good time and ensured we catered to by chefs (due to dietary requirements) food was amazing highly recommend lovely place.

Food was excellent, has vastly improved, great staff very accomodating, lovely lunch 😋

¿Quieres las malas noticias primero, bueno, conseguimos vales de nuestro hijo que era para mi cumpleaños en mayo, pero los usamos para nuestro aniversario en octubre 8 th llegamos allí fuimos a la recepción preguntado si la casa club era amablemente dijo que tienes que caminar dijo que puedo conseguir el buggy para llevarte dijimos que está bien vamos a caminar poco sabía que wot un largo paseo. Estaba vestido con tacones puestos así que me resultó difícil caminar todo ese camino Finalmente llegamos allí nos mostraron a una mesa en la casa club unas cuantas personas que tenían una comida y luego nos pidieron que nos mudáramos a la barra de especias así que pensé oh debe ser manteles y unas cuantas personas allí me sorprendió que nadie en solo yo y mi esposo nos sentamos nos miráramos y por qué hicieron que estaba helado allí una televisión en el espectáculo de deporte y luego alguien lo apagó no teníamos música nada oh espera a la comida cum mi dios pedí cóctel de gambas esposo tenía sopa porque él es celíaco el tenía el bistec estaba frío Lo comí porque pagamos más de 40 libras por bistec sin lados y una taza con papas fritas en mi esposo tenía salmón de nuevo sin lados así que pidió papas fritas panncotta para dulce y café estaba tan desagradable frío horrible esperaba una buena noche entonces ordenó buggy para llevarnos a nuestro automóvil porque estaba lloviendo entonces nos enteramos de que el naranja estaba cerrado pero no nos dijeron en el momento de la reserva nunca más viajaremos a este horrible hotel ahora la buena noticia que eran Pete creo que estaba frente de casa y Ben eran los muchachos más maravillosos que nos hicieron la noche si no fuera por ellos Puse de mucho peor crítica cómo en la tierra cobras tanto por esa comida que habíamos sufrido con asma y semen en casa con un frío esta mañana creo que el jefe necesita leer mis reseñas en una habitación fría en 47 años no discutieron totalmente nada de frío en la habitación fría en el bar de 47 años. Went for Sunday dinner. We had the roast lamb, roast beef and belly pork. We couldn't fault any of it. Sizeable portions and the vegetables were delicious. Debbie (our waitress) was attentive and lovely. Thank you for your hospitality
