Excellent and affordable food, drink and service for 30 strong family gathering. We had a memorial service over the road, then had delicious sandwiches, chilli and cake from Ishma and the team at the Plough. Really fresh tasty food, excellent service and lovely location in the function room. Very good choice of beer and wine. Ran like clockwork. Couldn't be happier.

My work colleagues and I were passing by when we spotted this nice little quaint pub on a bridge, eager to unwind over a few beers after a long day we parked up and entered this pub. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by quite the spectacle: a heavyset gentleman in a turban, slumped over the bar and snoring loudly. Four pristine, untouched pints sat beside him, clearly his, as there was no one else around. The barmaid shot us a look that spoke volumes. We immediately understood her silent plea and nodded sympathetically before turning our attention back to the snoring mound at the bar. A few minutes into our visit, the man woke up and groggily scanned the room. He muttered something under his breath while glancing our way. We did our best to ignore him, avoiding eye contact with this dishevelled character, and tried to keep our conversation going. But then he started slurring at the barmaid, and we began to feel uneasy. Our discomfort grew as he muttered obscenities behind us, including a garbled threat about smashing a pint glass over our heads. One of my colleagues, visibly irritated, was ready to confront him, but given the man’s drunken state, we decided against it. What should have been a relaxing afternoon over a few drinks turned into a comical farce, thanks to this unfortunate encounter. The funniest part? As we got up to leave, he tried to strike up a conversation but promptly slumped back onto the counter and fell asleep again. Charming.
