Updating my review because this pub has new landlords who are making a good go of it and yet apparently someone keeps flagging the pub as closed. It's very much open. Was down here today (Christmas day) and it's packed out. And the family had a decent and great value meal here earlier in the week. Brains SA and Pedigree on tap - both in perfect condition. Support your local! I've nearly half a century of experience of coming to this pub, from age almost nothing, cheekily bringing empty Coke bottles back from the garden to Ray, the then owner, to claim the few pence return value to now with the place under new management. I'm so pleased to see the pub back to life. New management have taken it on since Christmas and they have transformed the atmosphere back to what it should be. A local community asset, a friendly welcome, a hubbub of conversation, well kept beer and quality food at a very reasonable price. Pie night of a Wednesday is great value at under a tenner for a pie (home-cooked) and a pint. Even midweek there's a good crowd in. Great to see and worth a visit.
