We came across this gorgeous little tearoom quite by chance when we turned off the A483 to look for somewhere to get a cuppa about halfway through our journey between Leeds and Pembrokeshire. We only got a takeaway hot drink on that occasion to accompany the sandwiches we’d brought with us and which we ate on a nearby bench. We knew then, though, that this would be a great place to stop off for lunch a week later on our way home. Friendly and efficient Meg, who served us, recommended that we book a table in advance on our way back, and how right she was. This is a small tearoom and deli, which is very popular with the locals … and rightly so. The savoury food, the homemade cakes and scones, the hot drinks and the customer service are all amazing. There only seem to be about three staff in total, but the food they prepare is fresh and attractively presented, and the homemade cakes were delicious. Even though they were constantly very busy with seated and takeaway customers, on our return visit, Shirley did an excellent job of making everyone feel welcome, advising on the food, taking orders and generally being super-efficient, while also being friendly. Just a few minutes’ drive along the B4390 off the A483, situated in a beautiful village, this tearoom is a real gem and we will certainly call in there again for lunch or coffee and cake (well, actually, we will try to pre-book) next time we are in the area. Highly recommended.

The most relaxing dining in the wonderful eclectic home of chef Kerry and front of house Paul. The food is outstanding, beautifully presented with delightful flavours. There is true passion in every dish with the added bonus of fresh grown produce from their garden. A must visit whenever in the area

So I've just this moment been for lunch on my 66th birthday with 7 members of my family. I was pleasantly surprised to find if it was your birthday, and you provided ID you could have a main course and pudding for free. Being vegetarian I didn't like the main courses, so asked the waitress if I could have a starter and chips as my main course. Bearing in mind I already had a starter before the main course. I said that both were cheaper than a main course anyway, so there no issue. The waitress said it was OK. Nothing else was said and we had a lovely meal. On paying the bill I find that my main course (starter and chips) was charged at full. I queried the waitress and she said the manager had explained I couldn't do a starter and chips. BUT no one had come across and explained that. Similarly there were 4 other people at our table who had main courses, so what was the problem!!!! Don't advertise this promotion if you aren't going to adhere to it. I could have quite easily ordered my husbands main and simply swapped when presented. I also tipped £20 and feel now that my birthday meal was spoilt by such appalling disregard to my complaint, and had I knowingly knew I had to argue over who had which main course in order to fulfil the promotion, I certainly wouldn't have tipped £20. It's not the money but the principle. Don't offer something then find a way not to deliver. The manager was dismissive. Food good but service very poor.

We looked at pubs locally that were dog friendly, we arrived ahead with one dog and 12 people following only to be told they had no dog friendly spaces available. Very disappointed we only wanted a quick drink so went to the lion hotel instead very welcoming with good beer, don’t bother with the horseshoes go to the lion hotel instead or the nags head

We had booked the Horseshoe Inn for our company Christmas Dinner and when we arrived we were kindly shown to our table, which looked neat, clean and tidy as one would expect from a professional catering operation. We were all in a positive frame of mind and were comfortable enough enjoying each others’ company. Sadly, I have nothing good to say about the food from the Christmas menu, an opinion that was shared by a fair number of my colleagues. MAINS: The meat dishes featured generously sized slabs of overcooked, tough meat smothered in bland packet-style gravy to disguise the crimes committed in the course of its preparation. Also the salmon was very dry and the sauce appeared to be a left-over prawn cocktail from the starter menu that was tipped over the top - a bizarre combination of flavours and unfortunate for the customer who already had the prawn cocktail as a starter! The vegetarian Wellington suffered from a pastry that was rather soggy and the filling was all in all a hard to define characterless mush. The vegetables were unimaginatively boiled in water and distinctly lacking in taste. PUDDINGS: The puddings appeared to have been bought in cheaply and were not even reaching the quality of a supermarket dessert. I restrain myself here and will only comment on the sticky toffee pudding. Cooking time was an issue yet again, a stodgy sugary mass instead of a melt-in-the-mouth experience. We did not say anything, as it did not seem to make sense and would have felt unkind to complain about a cook who was obviously not very practiced in catering for groups, let alone understood how to prepare a tasty meal in the first place. I would suggest hiring a different chef and focussing on creating a small but tasty menu! On a positive note: We enjoyed each others’ company and had a nice evening in a comfortable setting. The front of house staff were friendly!
