The best restaurants in Ottery St Mary Rural East Devon South West

What a fantastic pub, cosy atmosphere and the most delicious food. Staff were so friendly and the food was the best I have tasted in a long time. Fish of the day was outstanding and cooked to perfection. My friend had the pork belly which was equally as good and very tasty. Generous portion sizes. Their homemade chocolate brownie was out of this world. I will definitely be back. Good value for money too. The pub itself has so much going on.

The restaurant was very dark. The food has huge room for improvement. The waitresses were harassed and needed support from health and safety. I would never eat there again. Glad some people like it. I could not reach the toilet with my walker as there was inadequate room between the tables and chairs.

Sadly, this place has gone seriously downhill. I used to go here years ago when it had a nice atmosphere and reasonably good food. Now it’s no better than a ‘70s motorway service station! Incidentally, it wasn’t just my wife and I that wished we weren’t there: most of the staff looked like they’d rather be somewhere else too!

Quite a while ago we did go there and the service and cakes were just all right. Back again to that place, which is called now The Wild Flower Cafe, we were amazed by the soups and quiche quality! Cool presentation too! Previously, my wife and I trained in Catering (France/UK) and worked in great places as well as Private Service (USA included) for twelve years, we know about quality. The service was very friendly and superb. Pot if tea for two generous too. A perfect 10 this time! What a holistic treat for the soul! Merci...
