We came today for a family pub after a long walk. We could see why the restaurant and pub were split but was a little confusing as to where we can sit and what we can eat. We opted to sit in the bar which was supported by the female restaurant staff member. (Very accommodating) The bar area was nice, games and books for the kids. The food was ok - scampi - could have done with some peas and a few more scamps for 13quid would be perfecto - ham egg and chips - all is well Kids had - fish and chips - great portion size - meat pasta - ideal for a kid but more meat would have been good. our friends had sandwich and soup which seems to be the winner. Prices were high for standard foods. I would suggest putting on the fire, a little music, lower the cost or provide a more prestige home cooked meal, bulk up the side salad. Great parking and good for dogs.

I am certainly not surprised they are having to close. Family & friends have frequented here on more occasions than I can recall, consequently spending a vast amount of money. As seen in other reviews, we too experienced Roger's totally unjustified anger issues, this was witnessed by many who, after he had reduced us to tears, shared how they too had seen standards drop, staff being treated poorly as well as several having been on the end of his temper. I definitely think retirement is the best thing for all as it will enable Roger time to seek help for his anger issues and maybe his wife will be able to find her smile that left years ago. As is clear from previous comments, he will never accept any responsibility

A lovely open modern barn building, with (very unusual and appealing) gifty merchandise at one end and the cafe/restaurant at the other end. If you don't like big open plan then this isn't the place for you. Tasteful interior, with very nice seating, clean and bright. it is a 'take a tray and pay at the till' place, using your table number for ordering hot food. I have to say that although I only had a jacket potato it was the best I've ever had anywhere. My fellow diners agreed that the food quality was very good and good value. This really is a lovely location for a nursery and garden centre, even approaching down the long winding drive is very rural and atmospheric. There is a delightful and historical feel to the areas where plants are kept, as there are tall walls and the way the plants are laid out for sale makes it feel like you are walking around an interesting walled garden. A really nice place to spend a while if you are a keen gardener, with very healthy and some unusual plants.
