The best restaurants in Stort Valley Uttlesford East of England

We had a very warm welcome here when we stopped with our elderly father in law for a coffee before he attended a wedding. The lovely man who served us was so kind and helpful. Great big pot of tea and plenty of milk. To be recommended when you're passing by.

Lovely pub. Really friendly staff and great fresh food. Just a bit of constructive critism. I ordered the mediterran veg pie. Came with fresh lovely salad but as a veggie I was disheartened to find only a few olives and the odd piece if veg inside. Mostly pastry. Im a vegetarian that loves loads of veg!!!, Apart from that the rest of my party enjoyed their fish dinners😊

Stayed one night at The Yew tree. The rooms were sheds in the car park. Everyone could see in. The windows were old and rotten. The single bed had no headboard so the pillow fell off in the night. There was a TV on a shelf above the single bed which my daughter hit her head on. There was a constant beeping sound all night like a car reversing . The room was clean and shower fine. We had no water in our room and could not buy breakfast the next morning as the pub didn't open until 12pm. House keeping came dead on 11am for us to leave . We had to wait in the car park in the cold for our lift home.

In need of a place to rest my head and grab a meal for one night whilst attending a local sporting event (long story) I alighted upon this place and I'm so glad I did. After a warm and personal welcome I settled in to do some work and ended up having a superb night. The food was top class, the wine selection short but spot-on and the hospitality from the bar staff (you know who you are!) outstanding. The locals were hugely welcoming too, and I'd have no hesitation in returning.
