The Froize was a firm favourite of my dear departed Mum and Step Dad but I hadn’t been back for several years since we lost them . When my husband suggested the idea of Sunday Lunch as part of a birthday celebration we jumped at the idea of going back to the Froize as it had been such a favourite of the whole family. It was as good as it ever was if not better. From the warm welcome, to cosy bar and charming dining room everything was lovely. But best of all was the food, a choice of roasted beef or pork ( or both if you’re really hungry) , a delicious looking rabbit pie, pot roast partridge, lamb shanks or a choice of vegetarian dishes. I struggled to choose but opted for the double roast and was not disappointed, in fact I would say the roast pork was the best I have ever eaten. So tasty and with superb crackling. The Carvery options were accompanied but a range of vegetables, super homemade Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. The chef patron was serving all his customers, engaging with everyone and was happy to explain the provenance of ingredients which clearly is of high quality and this showed in such tasty food. A good choice of puddings too if you have the room. My only regret is that I left it so long to go back: won’t make that mistake again.

Had a fantastic Sunday roast platter here today! Generous serving with all the trimmings (Yorkshire puds and cauliflower cheese on the side too), best stuffing I’ve ever had. Great value for £15pp or £20 with a dessert. Friendly staff and nice setting too.

Weekend visit, quiet pub, chosen because reviews spoke of good wholesome food backed up with photos of cod and chips Burgers, Only to find the options were breakfast only. Landlord/ barman seemed less than enthusiastic about the prospect of serving food as the kitchen was closing in “half an hour” but we were reluctantly served a breakfast. We noted other meals carried past contained black pudding while ours did not and noted other tables were served chips while we were told “we only do Breakfast’s!” In all it was ok but not a welcoming establishment and nothing particularly special. Wouldn’t return or recommend it but if it’s raining at least it’s dry inside.
