Honestly the service, food and atmosphere was spot on. The service was friendly and efficient and they personalised each table. The roe buck it’s self is amazingly decorated mixing old and new with French style menu, my french onion soup was superb - don’t take it off!! Thank you

Came here recently after hearing/seeing how it had been completely refurbished. In the main the reviews had been positive. Husband had steak and daughters had burgers and one had fish. I chose the Hunters Chicken. Hubby said his steak was cooked really well and my daughters who had burgers said very tasty, although one had to ask for more chips (only had about 6! and the other one was missing her onion rings). By the time she got them her meal was finished. My Hunters was awful. In the picture it looks like its a big piece of chicken in a dish (not sure why it comes with salad) ? Unfortunately when it arrived it was literally tiny, prob a chicken thigh at most; had no bacon and was literally microwaved to death, a sprinkle of cheese and a squirt of BBQ sauce. I was going to send it back but it was packed so would have taken ages to re-order so just left it and had a dessert. We also had the unfortunate incident of a young man coming in to the restaurant shouting on his mobile phone, moving from chair to chair and very very agitated. Ourselves and the people on the table next to us all said he definitely looked like he was on something. Luckily as we was going to say something to the manager he left. This place is stunning in its decor and the bar staff are lovely as is the manager/waiting staff. I think however, that they need to get the meals right. The portions are very small and my husband and daughter said that the only part of their meal that was hot was the chips. I do think that there is still an element of a certain type who still go in there. I remember from years ago it was known as an "aggro pub" and I suspect that it is hard to get rid of these people when they have used it for years as a local. Personally I think that it is best to go there when it is quiet, ie early evening, afternoons and not in school holidays. If the food is sorted out it will def be worth going back. Cannot fault the staff they are all lovely and make you feel really welcome.
