My wife and I were gifted with a voucher for dinner and accommodation and we chose to stay at the Crown, Stoke by Nayland. We loved the relaxing atmosphere of the bar and dining area and our meal was excellent. The staff were also professional, attentive and very friendly which only added to the experience. We also loved the accommodation which was finished to a high standard. We would definitely recommend a stay and we hope to be returning. Keith & Maria

Went today for Mother’s Day Sunday Roast and we was extremely disappointed. We go here during the summer months as its views are lovely. We had 3 Roast dinners two beef and one pork belly. All three were very poor quality. Potatoes hard and beef very chewy. The pork was very hard and dry. The beef burger was dry and very poorly presented. The portion control needs to be looked at as it Varys table to table. Lastly being a dog owner I am all for dogs being in country pubs however allowing dogs to sit on chairs at tables inside i think it’s a little too far.

Phoned at short notice for Saturday lunch. Very welcoming place with lovely friendly service. We'd have eaten pretty much anything on the menu; very hard to narrow it down. Starter portions were large, and could easily have been combined with several things on the menu. The liver & bacon was wonderful, and the wine list with several very good wines by the glass. The buildings are lovely too, with lots of rooms, and anterooms, and when the weather has warmed up, sitting outside in the courtyard looks nice too. Might come back to try the rooms too!
