Zizzi - Metro Centre in Gateshead

Great lunch today! I love the fonduta cheesy starter and the spicy chicken pasta. A win every time! The staff are all really friendly without being overbearing and it’s nice to leave a restaurant and everyone says thank you/bye!

Had an amazing lunch and Gemma was serving what a welcoming place. She was so bright cheerful and bubbly. Also the young ladies with long dark hair was very pleasant and helpful. Very nice to be served by the staff and would recommend to anyone who wants a happy as well as speedy service.

Katie made our visit to Zizzi Metrocentre extra special . Very attentive and helpful.

Came with my daughter food was lovely our waitress Gemma was fantastic her service was absolutely outstanding 👏

Excellent food and service. Eaten here a few times now, and it's the only place I eat at in MetroCentre. Great salads and risottos - not just the usual pies and pizza. Plenty of gluten-free options and a great wine list.

Best meatballs I have had since eating in a little Italian restaurant close to Central Station in NewYork years ago.

Gemma was truly one of the best waitresses I’ve ever come across. Really hope she gets some recognition as she is a true asset to the company. Thank you Gemma you are an Angel :)

Ordered pulled pork loaded fries - that and pizza looked nothing like on menu. Pulled pork fries carton wasnt even half full of a few skinny fries, tiniest bit of dried out pork on top and hardly and cheese.

Excellent portion size and very tasty.

Food was nice, however not what I ordered. I ordered a meatball Arabiata but there was no meat in it at all.

Fantastic food and amazing service. Really made a fuss of our daughter (6) and chef went our of her way to make a special dessert. Danielle was our waitress and she was fantastic. Highly recommend.

the loaded fries came totally different to what was shown and were awful, had a special on for a free classic pizza when spending so much yet didn't receive it and was also missing one of the dishes I ordered, definitely won't be ordering again, for the price you pay I'd expect my order to all be there and to be as described

I ordered Rustica Pepperoni Campagna 15.95 + Fire-Roasted Peppers (V) (Ve) 1.75 SooooooooNOT worth it. The pizza is very small, taste was ok. I wouldn't buy it again. Need bigger pizza for price

First time eating at Zizzi. Worst meal I've ever had in a restaurant. Starter was nice but my main spinach and ricotta tortelloni was unpleasant. Pasta was tepid and was rubbery and uncooked swimming in oil. Will not eat there again.

Great experience - was served by Katie and she honestly could not have been any nicer - best service I have received in a while and food gorgeous- will deffo be back - also got my zillionaires club points

I was really excited looking at the menu but the second we were seated my excitement lessened and lessened. We had to wait almost an hour to finally get our food, all the while tables who had sat down half an hour after we did received their food before us. While waiting we were constantly harassed to buy more drinks when we clearly didn't need them but the staff clearly needed more money. When we finally got our food my partner's portion was ridiculously small for the amount she'd paid and my meal was somehow already cold even though I witnessed it leave the oven not one minute before. The cherry on top of this embarrassment was the imposed £5 tip we had to weasel our way out of on the app. Overall if you're looking for Italian food in the Metro Center go to anywhere else but Zizzi's.

Fantastic service. Staff were attentive even when the restuarant was very busy. Food came quickly and was cooked perfectly. Go to restaurant for cheat nights.

The Spaghetti Bolognese and Garlic bread was really good but again Just Eat failed to deliver to my flat .why do I need to go down and collect my food outside the the main flat entrance instead of the delivery guy using the lift to deliver my food to my flat Zizzi (Metro Centre) you as the restaurant need to sort this out

Lovely food but a bit cold when arrived

£54 complete waste of money i could of bought a better pasta dish to put in the micowave for a couple of pound from a supermarke no sauce basically had a pot of dry pasta, garlic bread and pizza very average.

Absolutely disgusted that I had to contact the courier and try to explain for approximately 10 mins that they weren’t outside my house delivering my food , that I had to tell my address again to the delivery driver and that I had to send my daughter out in the street in her pyjamas , in the rain to get my order!!!!!!!!!

Had lunch here today, £60 for two pizzas, chips and drinks. Pizzas are thinner than a crisp, about two potatos worth of chips and everything was so oily we have both felt ill all day, wont ever be having anything from here again!!!

Came her with my girlfriend for my 18th birthday, had to wait in a line for over half an hour just to get in despite more people leaving then actually waiting in the line aswell as there bieng loads of free seats. Service was average and food was good but not for the price.

Called the restaurant, to say kindly please don’t forget anything like last time. Missed 2 items off. Chatted to restaurant and they were apologetic & polite. However £52 on pizza it’s a bit of a joke especially when the food was no where near the standard it should be at this price point.

Was actually 135 minutes. We ordered this at 5:20pm and didn't arrive till 8:40pm.

Food was good, with a fair variety and great fresh ingredients. Pricing is borderline expensive and though the venue is good, the service both times has been very mediocre.

Although the food was very nice ☆☆☆☆☆ more for me, it was served very hot, i asked for a "hot chocolate" also to be very hot in temperature and i got what i asked for ☆☆☆☆☆ i will be back 😋

Not the best place ive been to. I had the margarita pizza and my partner had the pan fried sea bass. The pizza was pretty standard, nothing special. And the sea bass was, for lack of a better word, watery. Expensive for what it is. There was also loads of staff that were just kind of wandering about or chatting at the bar

Unfortunately seems like the waiter was in a rush all the time and almost handed me the bill before I sat down. We been polite all the time. Got the order wrong and not providing the requests we asked like mayo or other sauces. Ive been in other zizzi locations. The food was not good. When we finished the main dish instead of asking if we wanted dessert the question was do you want the bill. Not sure how they stay open. The place was 1/3 full and understaffed. When going over the bill he rushed throug the screen on the machine selecting items I should be doing like gratuity and donation which is illegal. Dont ruin your evening. Its not good value for money.

Good sized pizza and taste not bad at all as they are baked on open fire. Also had a good dessert. Portions, service and price seems pretty reasonable.

I've eaten here twice. Both times excellent. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend x

Food wasn’t good at all, lasagne was super hot when it arrived and had to wait 10 minutes for it to cool down or stir it and when I did it lost any taste it had. Service was great but food wasn’t

Went for lunch today and decided to get the special mussel tagliatelle. I distinctly asked for no chilli , not that I’m allergic but because sometimes the food is too hot. The starter was a Aubergine crochet which was well done on the outside but cold inside. When the main arrived it looked amazing. On the side was a half a red chilli with seeds attached which I gave my partner as he doesn’t mind them . The shells on the mussels where all cracked and the tagliatelle was hard and stuck together. I tried to get the attention of the staff as they passed but just didn’t come over . I ate what I could as by this time thought it pointless saying anything as we had to get away and had I been offered anything else we couldn’t have waited . The waitress came over to Collect the plates and asked if everything was ok so I explained no , it fell on deaf ears and she just looked and took the plates and left the table. Then another waiter came over and we asked for the bill, he asked was everything ok and we told him no once again it fell on deaf ears. We paid and left . This is why I’m writing this review . My partner food was ok but did say it was bland. The atmosphere was most subdued . We will not be returning back.

Unfortunately lost an hour and 10 minutes of my life I’ll never get back haha. Ordered a starter and two mains, received starter at 16:45, was chilli cheese garlic bread, was pretty poor, so much chilli on some bits then nothing on other bits, also severe lack of cheese. We waited and then at 17:40 we received what was meant to be our main but was actually a duplicate chilli cheese garlic bread starter… we complained, manager was nice but couldn’t offer an explanation of what went wrong, when we realised that they hadn’t even started making the mains we decided to just leave, thankfully she wiped the bill so got a free unenjoyable garlic bread and a beer and a water for free, left feeling hungry and frustrated.

We have eaten at Zizzi’s in numerous locations and on many different occasions, and this occasion has been the best hands down. This is all down to the amazing service from Gemma. She is a credit to the restaurant and the Zizzi name. We’ll be back! But only to this one from now on!! S&P x

Had the chicken and prosciutto salad. Enjoyed it.

Went for lunch today tried the new fresh pasta was nice as expected good value for meal. Waitress Gemma was just fabulous so friendly and helpful. Made the experience very person centred had a lovely chat whilst helping us out.

Food is very good but freezing cold due to delivery driver taking nearly an hour to collect and deliver

Delicious food, quick service and we were well looked after / checked back on. I recommend a sharing platters to start. The kids loved their mocktails.

I honestly found this place below par. The staff were stood about chatting for 10 minutes at a time on a busy bank holiday. I had asked for some crayons for my daughter as she was given a colouring sheet without them (?) and after 20 minutes, and watching the girl I asked for the crayons chat up a storm with other staff members, I just went and got them myself. It was for the same reason that I ended up using the online system to order food to our table. I honestly didn’t know if the waiting staff were there to work or socialise. The food was fine, what you’d expect from a chain of restaurants, although items were missing so we had to request them again. We left without desert simply because we couldn’t be bothered with the lack of service. I waited a while for someone to catch my eye to request the bill, but again, the staff were too busy chatting together in a group, leaving one young lad running around trying to do everyone’s job. In the end I paid online with their online payment system and was glad to get out of there. The atmosphere was pants and the staff just couldn’t be bothered. We’ll spend our money elsewhere next time. It’s not as though it’s cheap to eat out as a family nowadays. I think the staff need to realise that without customers they are without a job, and it’s not as though I was expecting exceptional service by any means. Thumbs down from me I’m afraid.

Fresh food hot and good quality

Wow absolutely loved everything. The Italian waiter was fantastic, on the ball, very helpful and passionate. Food was top class. Even the garlic bread with red onions was amazing. Hubby had calamari, he said it was the best he had ever had. And the cherry, amaretto cheese cake. Was amazing. Would highly recommend.

What fantastic service we received on Saturday night. It was busy but we were really well attended to, and it was service with smiles and helpfulness. There was a hiccup with our order which handled with great professionalism and care for us having a good experience. The food was also very good and tasty. We have aranchini balls, chicken salad and the vegetarian salad with a side of chips and the lot filled us up really nicely. The portion sizes are generous though the aranchini balls are a bit too small a portion to share. Thank you for making our dining experience a good one Zizzi. (I took the photos at the end of our meal when most of the diners in the restaurant had finished and left already. We had arrived at 615pm when it was busy but we managed to secure a seat without having to wait).

Refused service. Arrived at 8:10. Store closed at 10pm and we were refused service. Only two people. Selfish.

Way expensive for what it is, which is a average Italian chain restaurant, but it's consistent and has an interesting menu.

We had a very pleasant visit here. Service was fantastic and food was great! Definitely recommend if you’re heading to the metrocentre and fancy some nice food. Never had a bad experience here.

Went to this after a day of Christmas shopping. Initial service was great and food was amazing but when our mains were taken nobody came back to see if we wanted more drinks or desert which was a little disappointing. We had initially placed our order with a staff member then ended up doing everything else on the app as nobody came back

Terrible service! The restaurant wasn't even half full and we were sat for 20 minutes and hadn't had our drinks order taken. Others had been sat and served, gotten their drinks and even starters before we even had our drinks order taken! Twenty minutes later and there was still no sign of drinks and others had their food. We had to get up and leave, we weren't waiting over an hour whilst others enjoyed their food!

Had pre booked a table just in case it was extremely busy. Food was perfectly cooked and brought to us in good time. The only negative about the whole experience was the "greeter". We were questioning wether to seat ourselves at one point while waiting as there didn't seem to be a member of staff specificallyto greet customers. One arrived, not identifiable as a member of staff, looking like he didn't particularly want to be there, though he did ask about allergies so I'll give him that. We also weren't asked about the Zillionaires club so didn't get points.

1st time here, not an Italian lover but the daughter persuaded us in, calzone was very so tasty very enjoyable and hot, the wife and daughter enjoyed their lentil ragu' and was plenty full afterwards. Staff were welcoming and had us seated within seconds. The meal was cooked fresh in an open kitchen sing a traditional oven, good to watch. Good selection of food and drinks at a good price. Yes we would go back.

Visited yesterday for a birthday lunch. Was very disappointed with the quality of our food. My husband’s pizza was really dry and tasteless, my linguine tasted ok but when I’ve had this in the past the courgette was ribbons but yesterday was in chunks. When we mentioned when paying the bill the guy just said was it? Definitely gone backwards regarding quality in our opinion.

What can I say. Great food served promptly, hot and delicious. Very impressed with price, service and quality. Had to cancel card payment so I can add a tip, had to insist! .So super friendly! Will come again for certain.

Passion fruit mocktail, since I was driving, with a (Chicken and Spinach) Calzonè Polo Spinaci with a Red Pepper dip. Gorgeous as ever, the chilli in the mocktail gave a very slight tingle to the drink. Pizza dough was light and not too filling.

Decent enough meal, nothing ground breaking but certainly nice enough. Had quite a long wait before we were shown to a table (we had a booking) but the service after that was first class. They also appeared to take allergies quite seriously which is good to see.

Nice lunch, not too busy, great service, meals for children were right size. Only issue was no draught beer. Will be back

3 stars for the staff... 2 blanks for the dish my food was served on! A wooden board with a split down the centre and wood was actually cutting off with my knife as I cut my food open! Its well know in the food industry that it is no longer hygienic to use wooden boards as the hold so many bacteria. So that is me with tummy rot tomorrow, I was in really good company enjoying our day together with my daughter. I didn't want to spoil it with a negative comment about my food. But, there was a big fat negative for it the way it was served!! I have to admit the staff were so friendly (apart from a young woman who cleared the wooden platters away for us. When I made a comment that the watery juice from the Calzone had gone right through onto the table and made a mess, she did state that she'd be back to clean it up as it was right across the table (not a little spill) she didn't return to clean it so I had to try and clean it up myself as we finished or drinks up). Lovely place, food served on these wooden boards is old fashioned and unhygienic, staff are friendly and attentive. Glasses for drinks immaculate.

It's freshly prepared but it is very salty. We order a short rib and a white sauce paster for the main dishes and both have too much salt. Service is poor, it's not even busy time but our food were waiting on the pass for a long time before they are delivered to us. My partner dropped the knife on the floor and made a big sound, the waitress walked by and decided to ignore it.

Always have a great time when we come. Servers are amazing, food is great and the price isn’t bad for what you get.

second time at Zizzi, both times at Metro Centre. Liked it the first time, hence went back the second time. Portions are good, the taste is great. The second time, we ordered Baked Burrata (looking for a small small meal) and Green-on-Green Pizza. The food was great - only fault is the tomato sauce on the Burrata was a little too sweet. The service was ok... the staff are friendly and accommodation but had to keep flagging the staff down for service even though there were a few available on the floor. Would definitely dine again at Zizzi... maybe will also try a different store/location.

Due to poor health this was our first day out for three months and decided to have lunch in Zizzi as we had never eaten here before. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was very nice and tasty. Thank you to the management for the kindness shown to my family.

Delicious food, great service. Had a fabulous time

Went on bank holiday Monday so very busy, but we had booked ahead and were shown to our table very quickly. Meal w as lovely but a bit pricey. Will be back when it's a bit quieter for another meal and will review again. Updated review went back to zizzi on Saturday 11th August 1 pm and it was better, staff were not as rushed so were more attentive , couldn't fault any of them. All friendly and very helpful. Food was better, a little let down by my bruschetta, not as good as hoped for, just ok. Pizza was lovely. Very hot , excellent tastes and huge. Did struggle a little to finish it all. Dessert was exceptional. Lemon meringue, highly recommended.
