Popped in to Zilli Cafe yesterday after scouring the area for an Italian lunch. Thought with Zilli's reputation we couldn't go wrong. The Caprese salad was nice but the Tortellini were a little on the oily / stodgy side and the coffee was, unfortunately, lukewarm. However, food aside, I couldn't recommend this place for one major and a couple of minor reasons. Firstly the major - hygiene. The gent's toilet was an absolute disgrace - I would advise Mr Zilli (who surely must visit his own establishments) to cancel the TV appearances for a while and invest in a bottle of limescale remover and some bleach. Also, if he can find a screwdriver, perhaps he can tighten the excuse for a lock that's on the door (also, why does the miniscule WC require a grotty old CD player and amplifier with wires hanging out of it in there?) The floor of the dining area wasn't much better with a grimy appearance and even a couple of pieces of litter blowing around.Minor points are that the place was unbelievably cold and the staff weren't particularly attentive, despite them outnumbering the customers!

we arrived around 6pm friday evening the place was empty. the floor was filthy, you could see dirt and on the underneath of my handbag was a layer of white dust when i picked it up. we had to ask the staff to trun down the heavy metal/grunge music and put something more suitable on. our order was taken, after being given a dirty crumpled menu, the food was served very quickly. we then had to ask for salt & pepper and not once sis anyone ask if everything was ok or did we want another drink etc. we asked for the bill, and then had to ask for them to come and take payment. this place needs a thorough clean - apparently the gents was dirty with no paper towel to dry your hands. the staff were engrossed in chatting to each other rathe than being attentive. very dissapointing.

We selected Zilli Cafe for a post award family celebration for 8 people from 18 - 88. Their website advertised a buffet with drink but when we got to the Cafe, there was no buffet option. (I now notice that this is no longer on the website!) The set menu had a choice of three options for starter, main and dessert. The choices were not very interesting. We had to ask for bread three times even though we were one of two customers dining there. One of the mains was fergulla pasta but we were told that they didn't have any more so it was served a bit of calamari and olives in an oversized bowl. We were charged for a bottle of wine at £19.00 when we had ordered only a glass. (this was refunded after we called it to their attention). We were mischarged when when two of the party decided to go from two course to three course. I phoned to complain twice. After being passed from one person to another, I eventually was passed to Aldo Zilli's PA. She said she would talk with Aldo and get back to me. I have never heard from them. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

We had lunch here last Saturday. There were only 4 other diners in around 12.30. We opted for the set £9.90 menu. My friend had the arribiata muscles to start which turned out to be the best dish we had between us! I had king prawns in lobster sauce, 3 prawns and the sauce was tasteless unfortunately. My main was tortellini with cherry tomatoes and rocket, which I assumed would be in a tomato sauce. It came piping hot as it should, but with one cherry tomato cut in half and six or seven wilted leaves of rocket in a cheese sauce - it did however taste OK if not what expected. My friend had roast chicken and roast potatoes. The potatoes were cubes and fried and COLD. The chicken just plain old roasted thighs, not even with garlic or rosemary or any kind of flavour - very disappointing as we had so looked forward to eating here.We asked for the bill and mentioned to the waiter our complaints, he just tutted and looked towards the kitchen. When the bill came, it was the wrong one! He rectified this and offered us two free coffees. The bill came to £23,99 which included a lime and soda and a diet coke.Would not bother with the cafe specials again - maybe the main menu would be better. One would hope so!

Walking the streets late night after the theatre looking for something to eat and stumbled into L'Apertitivo at Zilli Cafe. We were attracted by the fresh pasta hanging in the cafe. We wanted something different than pub food and fresh pasta looked good. The Chef Simone Londra had just put together a couple of dishes for the staff that looked and smelled terrific which made the ordering much easier. We decided to go with a goat ragu with fresh pasta and a pasta carbonera. Some of the best Italian food we have ever had, whether in Italy or in Southern California. Too bad we can't find a closer late night Italian food fix closer to home.

Aldo Zilli never disappoints at this down to earth and friendly cafe , great breakfasts and lunches, with quick service here. The cafe perfectly complements his fish restaurant next door.

Thanks to all of the positive Trip Advisor reviews, 5 of us had a fabulous pasta meal here. The chef came to our table to explain the menu choices, describing his preparation and ingredients in detail and warmly welcoming us. Each of us tried a different pasta dish and they were scrumptious! 5 generous dishes, a bottle of wine, 2 shared desserts and one espresso totaled around $100. We are already planning a return visit!

The Cafe is located around Picadilly Circus in the back streets of Soho and the edge of theatreland. It is set up in a cafe style and is not a restaurant for a quiet meal for 2. It is in fact a vibrant cafe with various sitting arrangements to suit all tastes. The menu is focused on light eating for people on the go but is flexible enough to accommodate a three course meal if that is what you want. We shared a fresh bruschetta as a starter. I had the pasta special of the day which was spinach ravioli in a mushroom, cherry tomato and truffle oil sauce. There are 6 fresh pasta sauces and 4 different types of pasta offered so happy with the recommendation of the special. My hubby had a mixed grill of lamb, chicken and Italian sausage with a Greek salad - he says it's the best lamb he has ever tasted and we definitely overcook lamb! Hubby had the tiramisu to finish off. We watched the world go by on this busy Soho street, ate amazing food, drank Italian beer and had a fantastic evening. The above plus three Peroni and a Pellegrino came to £34 - best value for money you will find in London! Love yourself enough to visit Zilli Cafe!

I have always been a huge fan of Eataly in London and New York, and have eaten there several times! This visit was awful! From the girl at front of house who was so miserable, like she couldn’t be bothered, her first words to us were “you’ve got two hours”, not a great welcome, to the bland, disappointing food and rushed wait staff! We went for an early Father’s Day lunch but won’t be returning which is a shame as we’ve always enjoyed it before.

We stopped by in this restaurant on the way to Prince Edward theater. Bruschetta was bad, the bread was toasted like a hell and cannelloni wasn't good at all. We ordered sparkling water which wasn't cold.
