We came for lunch as a family of 3 adults, a 1 year old and a 4 year old. The buggy was bulky and I asked if it could be put away, the waiter kindly did so, nothing was too much of a hassle for them. My 1 year old and 4 year old enjoyed the plain soup udon (which wasn’t plain at all, the soup was delicious!) and we had a mixture of sushi and tempura. The sushi was fresh, and the tempura batter light and crispy without being oily. Everything from service to presentation to taste was exceptional. And to make it even better, we got a 20% discount because we paid by cash! We will be back!

A very lucky find indeed! 😄 Walking past and we glanced the menu in the window and thought ah well we are here now let’s go for it. Thank the sushi gods we did because this place is amazing! From the service to the sushi, even the decor is great. EXTENSIVE menu, so much to choose from and not bad prices, if you ever get the chance, pop in here, you won’t be disappointed! 10/10.

Booked this place off the back of the reviews with no idea about it. It’s tucked away down a side street, is cosy and understated. The menu had a good selection of favourites as well as some new surprises. We ordered a variety of items: hot dishes, salads, sashimi, as well as their signature rolls. The presentation was fab and the food even better. The volcano rolls (seared eel with signature sauce) was a stand out but it was all delightful. It’s a casual hidden gem that I’ll make an effort to head back to again soon!

Outstanding. This is my favourite place in Southampton. Well priced, great quality food. Been here several times and got it as takeaway as well - never disappointed. Highly highly highly recommend.

Excellent food, excellent service and a great little restaurant. We were a party of five, and the food was prompt, hot and tasted terrific. Our vegan member had a good choice, and enjoyed her food very much. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely atmosphere, very quaint little restaurant tucked off the high street. Amazing Matcha tea! and refills so we decided to have another cup waiting for the rain to stop outside. I had Vegetable Yaki Soba lots of flavours, just the right amount of seasoning and well cooked. My friend had a mixed bento and cha cha roll which he enjoyed a lot. All was very fresh and lovely presentation. Nice selection of sauces to accompany. You get lots of food so he ended up taking some home with him. Definitely would visit again!

Really tasty chicken gyoza and such good rainbow rolls! The service was also really perfect but then again it was late and few people eating. Well done team Zento. It would have been 5 stars if there had not been quite so much “stuff” stored in the customer side of the serving area. Really unsightly and a bit of a shame

A lovely relaxed vibe with super friendly and helpful staff who gave great recommendations. The food came quickly and altogether as it was quite early. Having eaten a lot of sushi, this was some of the best ever and was absolutely amazing! Thank you!

I took some clients as people keep saying how good it is there. But not only the staff were not friendly the sushi is no way near as good as Nara and Sakura I’m Bedford place. One person ordered some beef on the stick he had to spit it out as it was so tough. Some of the nigiri didn’t taste fresh. I won’t be going there again or taking any clients embarrassing!

Came to zento for dinner and what an amazing surprise! Food was 10/10 in my opinion the best Asian restaurant in town ! Special thanks to our waiter Shinee to make sure everything was amazing with us, really great costumer service from her! Definitely coming back

their sushi is by far the best in Hampshire. rock and roll sushi is the bomb. im very picky with japanese restaurants but this has set the standards for the rest. very nice food. bento box is good if you are on a budget too.

Amazing food, the best meal I've had in a long time. I had the tofu teriyaki bento box, for £10.90 I think, was very good value. My husband had a load of sushi which was less good value as he got muddled when ordering and ordered way more than he should have, but still very good quality and worth the money. Service impeccable, place very clean.

Decided to come here before a concert with my 2 kids. Fast service and really good sushi. Was a bit expensive but maybe thats inflation.

Wow - best kept secret in Southampton! The food here is authentic and really wonderful. The best sashimi I’ve had in Southampton by a mile and really cost effective too.

Zento is amazing . Went for my girlfriends birthday and everyone was amazing . Service and food is incredible . If you ever have a opportunity to go here make sure you do. You won't regret it.

The sushi is lovely - the best I’ve had in Southampton. The other dishes we ordered were very yummy, and we will definitely be going back soon. Staff are nice and friendly, and it’s a nice environment.

This place is incredible. There's a lot of great choice for Japanese food in Southampton but Zento is right at the top. We were also very pleasantly surprised at how much (again, delicious and varied) choice there was for vegetarians. Highly recommended whether ordering online or eating in.

I went last week with my friend I’m not a fan of tuna at all the only nice type I’ve had at nobu mayfair and this was at the same level!! The spicy tuna roll was amazing the mixed starter was so fresh tge rainbow roll was also amazing. The servers we also so quick and friendly. Very affordable and they have deals for students 20% off 12-2pm

As an avid sushi lover, this was by far one of the best sushi bars to date. Excellent service, highly recommend.

We've popped into Zento a couple of times for a quick snack - great takoyaki, seaweed salad and sashimi to name a few. Then last night we went for a proper dinner and tried several different dishes. The mixed tempura was delicious and we loved the soft shell crab sushi roll and the tuna tataki was amazing. The people are really friendly too! Having lived in Japan for a few years, I'm so happy to have great quality Japanese food available close to home. We'll be back :)

Excellent food quality! - 3 kinds sashimi - Crunchy spicy tuna roll - Sexy Lady - Scallop Carpaccio All foods by take away order but quality are best of the best. Hopefully they can start the sit in service ASAP.

Excellent service and wonderful food. Sushi we ordered came out great and the bento was brilliant. Every part of it went together well. Staff are very on top of hygiene given the climate too, which made for an enjoyable experience! Will 100% be visiting again!
