A very nice place to go for vegetarian vegan Chinese Oriental meal you can take a personal like myself who does eat meat and you will not tell the difference since all diary requirements and tastes cost quite reasonable and you get some good portions for all your meals so you’re not gonna go hungry I think on this occasion there were three of us and we ordered ordered I’ve been here to this restaurant in all three guises when it first became Mr Mann then loving hut and now Zen Buda

Not all you can eat, although it's advertised. Quite expensive, similar price to Sushimania, which is a country mile better quality and only a few meters away. Service unattentive. Food quality very poor. The vegan duck was sugared fried batter. Vegetables were hard (not al dente). Generally a very poor experience.

Food was good and staff very polite. The service was very very slow. We were the only customers in the restaurant and we waited more than 20 minutes even for drinks .it’s not ideal, especially when you have two children (a two year old especially) that are not very patient

Great vegan Chinese food with plenty of mock duck/chicken/beef/fish options (if you like that sort of taste) plus tofu and veggies. Staff are excellent and food delicious. I have been visiting with family and friends on an off for a few years now. Takeaways are also good quality.

Really disappointing experience. We were regulars prior to covid, in the days when Krishna was behind the till. Back then, the food was lovely and the atmosphere was cosy and warm.The food is now average (the crackers were stale and spring rolls very oily). Last week we went to Tofu Vegan in Islington and the food was amazing. We paid less and got more compared to Zen Budda. Plus gratuity added when food very slow to arrive. The only plus was the two friendly young staff members that were still learning and tried their best.

Got take away from the restaurant. Really poor quality .. noodles were under cooked .. me and my sauger ended up with stomach ache just after eating few mouthfuls .. we threw food in the bin

We love this restaurant. The food is delicious, there were generous portions of everything that we ordered and the service was very good. We hate to be asked “is everything okay?”, if it wasn’t we would’ve said something and we were not asked this here, we were left to enjoy our meal in peace - a rare treat! Our guilty pleasure every Friday is to order a delivery from here, I almost don’t want to leave a good review in case, too many people start ordering!

Highly recommended for all to try. One of my favourite vegan restaurants. Great taste and packed with protein. The mocktails are very tasty and fresh. The staff are polite and the service is quick. Everything is plant based and the portion size is reasonable too. Must try the satay skewers and black bean sauce tofu.

As someone moving towards a plant-based diet, decided to order dinner on Friday night from Zen Buddha. Mostly really good - the sweet and sour "chicken", "pork" buns and spring rolls were particular highlights. The crispy "beef" was a disappointment though - it was spicy but soggy. Service was good, we ordered and the food was ready for collection in the timeframe they gave us. Overall, really nice but it's such a trek for us so probably not worth the journey again.

Good food, service a little slow but friendly staff and were apologetic for slight delays. Would recommend though. Menu is very extensive, everything we had was tasty.

Disappointed overall. Singapore noodles were burnt and had way too much curry power to the extent it tasted bitter. The offer by the staff to take it back to the kitchen. The Chinese vegetable portion was small and the crispy mushrooms were average. It felt more Indian than Chinese... The only thing pan Asian was the use of MSG! Ha ha ha Probably catering more for Indians.

Update Nov 2023: A year on and no refund. Keeping someone's money when a service was not provided is called stealing plain and simple. After posting the below review on 21 Feb 2023, I was contacted straightaway by Zen Buddha. Told I would get a refund. However, 4 weeks on still no refund. 21 Feb 2023: I ordered a takeaway from here and when I arrived to collect it (10 mins early) I was told not only would it not be ready in 10 mins time, but that they were so busy that it probably would take another 30-40 mins over the scheduled time. I asked for a refund. They said that's fine. I never got one. I called them up sometime later and was told I'd get a call back which never materialised. Still chasing my refund. Very poor service and keeping people's money when no food was provided.

Great veggie steak nice and juicy thought It would have been laid out in a platter but all good the food is nice recommend this for anyone. You must try the bbq veggie pork.

We visited this restaurant today. It’s always yummy. Food was good before, recently it’s gone down. It’s always empty ,prices have risen so high…however today we ordered Singapore noodles, when it came it had like steam coming out it, we thot it would be nice and hot, took some on the plate… and tasted it, they seemed burnt and refried and cold from the inside…tasted chewy.. so we called the waitress and told her the situation. She took it and took the same noodles and put it on the pan and burnt it even more… it came fully roasted.. we told the lady this is cold and not fresh we want fresh noodles. She said what can I tell them. She said we will take it off the bill we can’t make you fresh.. Avoid.

Vegan restaurant which were able to accommodate and serve food that with stricter dietary requirements without onion and garlic. Lovely service and food was delicious.

Namrata was such a good waitress, made all the good taste even better. She is attentive, patient and very served with a big smile.

Been coming to zen bhudda since lock down and have been a regular. Recently the service has become awful rude waiters and had to wait over an hr and a half for the food to come upon collection. Waited at restaurant for 35 mins to get food whilst the restaurant is empty. -------------------------------- Response from the owner a week ago Hi Darshni, thank you for your feed back, we do apologise that you was unsatisfied with our service . However you called 3 times to the restaurant, 1st time was enquiring wether we could cater for 15 people as takeaway. We replied you yes and happily to do so. 2nd time you called and said we may come in the restaurant to eat in, but was not sure and will call back. The 3rd time you called, it was our most busiest period, it may seem to be not busy in the restaurant but there were other take out order and eat in order all lined up before yours. And you decided that you wanted to do a takeaway order instead of eat in and to cater for 15 people. That was not a problem as we are happily to do it for you, but we did advice you as it’s a big order it will take OVER an hour and you agreed. Your order was taken at 18.06. You came to the restaurant to pay at 19.15. We do appreciate and do apologise that you had to wait a little longer when coming in to pick your takeout . But Please understand that we are not a fast food restaurant where food is made before hand. Each individual dishes is freshly cooked. Like said before, we did advise you that your take away order will take over a hour and you happily agreed. Im referring to the order placed on 07/10/2023 at 6:01pm - the restaurants said to pick the food up at 6: 40 - i came at that time However was sat waiting in the restaurant till 7: 28. where the waiting staff were rude when waiting for the food and speaking in Gujarati about me (which I can understand). Nevertheless the actual food was good - although some items had gone hard and cold in the wait. I understand the restaurant wants to provide fresh food however could've told me to come later to pick up the food and had better customer service once they realised the order will not be available in time.

I am giving this place two stars as I generally like it. However, I had appalling service when I visited on Sunday 20th August in the evening. We ordered something which came wrong. (Noodles with vegan beef) - it came with no beef and only vegetables. We queried it and sent it back - only for the waitress to tell us that's what it's like. So she basically lied and told us that we were wrong and what we were eating was actually the steak Noodles. We ordered Jasmine rice which we didn't get. Then at the end of the bill we requested to remove to service charge and the waitress said we can't do that. Legally you can remove it unless it's a mandatory charge or if we were made aware before hand (which we weren't). I generally have a good experience here, so I will come back at some point, but after this experience I won't be back for a long time as it has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Some food was good- the spicy aubergine hotpot was excellent, very tasty. But the dim sum that we tried were poor.

Food is quite oily and without much flavouring as most of it is premade. Service is incredibly poor but as it's the only vegetarian Chinese restaurant in town it is very popular. I prefer the alcarte as you have a wide choice and can request to have it catered for any allergies. It's recently changed its name and under 'new management' but.clearly they still don't know how to mange their staff and train them to give water and check if customers are happy!

Ordered a takeaway. The food was ok and we ate and had leftovers for lunch the next day. The next day my Wife nearly swallows a shard of glass that was in a dish. We alerted the restaurant/‘manager’ but they were utterly dismissive, unapologetic and insisted they never use glass in their Kitchen. Big statement that! Was horrified and upset to have a potentially deadly piece of glass in food and the reaction was not any better. Average food, awful attitude! Avoid at all costs

We have ordered a few times via ubereats. The third time there was an apricot (or peach?) Stone in my dish which I bit down on but luckily didn't damage my teeth. I was absolutely fuming and it took almost a year for us to decide that we'd give zen Buddha another chance since there was an ubereat promo code. This time has been the worst food establishment experience I have ever experienced. I bit down on something hard, spat it out, picked it up and it was a SIZEABLE SHARD OF GLASS. in my food!!!! To say I am outraged is an understatement. If I had swallowed that it could have KILLED me. This establishment should be shut down for food safety violations. There is no way they didn't realise that something smashed in their cooking area and could have come into contact with their food and yet did not think twice about serving customers with food that could seriously injure or kill someone. I have filed a complaint with ubereats but let's just say I will not stop until I get adequate compensation for the anguish and trauma as a result of this incident.

Have been going there for a while we always order about £50-60. BUT recently that have been changing £2 for a little pot sauces. Is this a new thing?

Lovely vegan food. Lots of choice. Sometimes, I find that when ordering, they don't have it in stock. Has happened a couple of times now. But the food is always delicious

Well I was so disappointed that a new dish I was offered to buy was billed at £16. There were 10 pieces of aubergine in it. John called it his special new dosh but did not inform me it was so expensive. I thought this was so dishonest to do especially with a regular customer like myself. I think I will not return.

My husband and I love to come here! It is our favourite vegan Asian food restaurant. We live as bit away, but we make the trip every so often just to get our comfort food. I always have the Sweet and Sour Chikn with the Spring Onion Rice, and it hits the spot every time. Even reheating for leftovers the next day, it's still just as good!!

I tried this place few times by now, with at least a month or two break in between. I hesitate to leave feedback after my first or second visit as I truly believe this restaurant had a bad day. Unfortunately, this restaurant has bad days every day. I ordered food for take away, and waited for 40mins this time round (on previous occasions I had to wait long too). Although I liked the food, most of it is very greasy. The owner HAS TO invest in waiting staff as one of the current waitresses has no idea what she is doing. She is a lovely lady but simply not a good waitress. We had to write our own order on a paper. The food is overpriced for what they serve. Unfortunately, although I was a returning customer, and was very understanding of running issues, I won’t be returning again. Very sad to see how this place continues to decline in every aspect.

Veggie Chicken Drumstick . 素雞鎚: Awesome texturing and flavoring of the edible “drumstick” “bone”. 125 Steamed Veggie Siu Mai (4 pcs) 干蒸素燒米: Classic Siu Mai mildly sweet flavors. Personally would prefer slightly more savory sticky rice stuffing. 126 Steamed Spicy Dumpling (3 pcs) 蒸素辣: Slight sweetness and what I recognize as Taiwanese style spice blend in addition to the chili. Very nice, especially with a unsweetened soy sauce. 127 Steamed Chui Chow Fan Gor (3 pcs) 蒸素粉果: Very nice but a bit sweet. Made me want unsweetened soy sauce. 128 Steamed Veggie Har Gow (4pcs) 蒸素蝦餃: Lovely mock lobster? 129 Steamed B.B.Q. Spicy Szechuan Veggie Fish 四川香辣素 (Stir fried veggie fish with pepper and onion in spicy Szechuan sauce): Too oily and not spicy at all. Fish texture not convincing either though it did feel like かまぼこ or steamed fish paste.

Starters were pretty nice but one of the broccoli dishes was raw and chewy. The service is not that great as I remember I went there two/three weeks ago it took quite a long time for the mains to arrive despite the restaurant not having many customers. There was only like two waiters. However when getting to the mains the noodle dishes have incredible amounts of oil which wasn't pleasant at all and needs to have lesser amounts of oil. They did give us a 10% discount as we discussed the oil problem. They don't even give out knives and we had to ask the waiters for knives. If these problems were fixed it would be a great restaurant.

I cannot express how amazing this meal was. Not only was the atmosphere definitely Zen, the staff were so kind and thoughtful. This was even before the food. This is, and I mean this wholeheartedly, the best vegan meal I have ever had out. The dishes were hot, on time and absolutely delicious. The level of care and thought that went into making every dish seem as authentically like its non-vegan counterpart was remarkable. This made my partner's birthday, we are from several counties over and will be making the trip back for this place alone. You have to go to this! Thank you so much Zen Buddha!

First off, I'm a vegetarian, not a vegan. Anyway, the service is very good and the waiter was very nice. I ordered the sweet & sour stir-fry (since I'm not a chilli liking person). To my surprise the stir-fry wasn't to my liking. All the vegetables were chunky and raw, and that included brocoli. Their chips are to die for at £2:20 a plate. Tips are in addition to the meal cost and come in at around 10%. Apart from not eating my meal my friends enjoyed theirs, even though the chilli aspect was somewhat intense. Seats were comfortable and the ambience was very good. Parking is a little tricky but not impossible.

I've been here a few times now and the food is quite good. The portions are very big which is definitely important to keep in mind when ordering. Since the menu is so big there is plenty of choice and always something new to try if you want to make your way through the menu.

Great vegan restaurant! Food was varied (so many options and hard to choose) and delicious at reasonable prices. We had dimsum, breaded chick'n, rose and lychee mocktail, noodles and a banana boat (with 3 icecre scoops) for dessert. Would go again!

Very disappointed. Stay away. Ordered there a couple of times before and today they sent the wrong order TWICE. We tried calling to sort it and get it exchanged with the right order as my partner is allergic to the dish they sent and the woman on the phone was rude and told us it wasn’t her problem and hung up. We basically spent 25£ on food that has to go to the bin because of allergies and they are rude and unwilling to see that they are in the wrong. Disappointed and won’t ever order there again.

Me and my wife came here by pure chance after deciding to take a walk down the highstreet. Being vegetarian, it's always exciting to find restaurants which have a huge variety of seitan and soya products. Here we ordered vegan steak, vegan fish, vegan chicken and they were all unique dishes cooked with full of flavour. Service was outstanding and quality of food was brilliant.

We had an overnight stay in Borehamwood as a family minibreak and this was the closest option that popped up on the Happy Cow app. We felt very welcome here! All of the food is cooked fresh to order, nothing disappointed. There is a full vegan menu of around 8 pages! Never been so spoiled for choice. Everything was delicious and we will definitely return 💚

I liked the place and as you can imagine there are plenty of vegetarian options! There were 3 of us and we spent 30 each. We ordered 3 starters, 3 mains and rice. We also had non alcoholic drinks. I would probably give the resto 3.5 if I could as there was nothing I thought was amazing but I liked the food. I would definitely come back to try and work my way through the menu. I thought it was a nice touch there were hand sanitiser bottles on the tables. I am finding that is rare from the places I have been too.

Good food, service needs improvement. You are expected to write down your own order, food comes at different times, they forgot our pancakes for the duck and offered to bring it at the end of the meal despite asking several times for it, our £15 duck dish went to waste needless to say. To top it off, mandatory service charges and charges for take away boxes really left a bitter taste after what was otherwise an acceptable meal. I'd advise just going and getting appetisers and go get mains elsewhere

Food was average. When we went it wasn't busy so not sure why food wasn't that great. Staff are friendly. Prices are a little high for what you get. I wouldn't rush to go again.

We ordered set menu A which was three courses and only £18.80 per person, and involved more food than we could eat. Everything was freshly cooked and full of flavour. Even the customer service was friendly and prompt. Really enjoyed eating here.

Wow! What a wonderful surprise. Friendly staff, nice vibe but more importantly, the food is delicious. We ordered the sizzling fish and lamb hot pot and they were fantastic. Highly recommend as everything we had was great. This place should be on a list of top vegan places to eat in London.

Excellent choice, Excellent Food. We have been looking for a new Veggie Chinese place , since our regular takeaway changed their menu. We were so lucky we found Zen Buddha. Ordering and delivery was good but thier standard of mock meat had slackened. Its not as good as before. It wasn't a very nice texture and definitely not as deceiving as before. I'm not happy to order mock meat from there again and will strictly stick to a vegetable theme. The sesame toast was squidgy and felt funny to eat. Red Thai curry had a nice flavour still

Excellent food, ambience and service We had the 111 veg chicken dish and beansprout noodles and schezuan tofu. Taste was really good. Also had the veg prawn crackers as well and again very tasty. Glad the noodles were thin noodles as it wasnt too heavy which you have space to try other dishes

Vegan chinese. They serve vegan versions of beef, chicken, and fish. I was most surprised in fish. It did feel like real fish. My daughter who does not like fish could not eat it. They have standard British Chinese fare such as beef/chicken in spring onion, black pepper sauce, soups. Nearly everything you would expect in a Chinese restaurant. All taste good. A meal for two with starters and desserts can cost upwatds of £60. So not cheap but the place provides a good experience. Service was good.

Delicious food! Best Vegetarian Chinese restaurant around especially with all the different Meat substitutes available! Excellent service on multiple visits. Food arrives really quick and is also fresh, the added bonus of the atmosphere being wonderful is just perfect!

Have been going here for 10 years however it has gone down hill. The restaurant staff know us (especially our no onion no garlic requirements). I ordered a noodle tofu soup. The tofu tasted like garlic like it had been fried in garlic some sort of cross contamination. I told the waitress, the chef came out barely letting us speaking and started shouting at us the whole restaurant went silent, he continued shouting and belittling us. Customer always comes first I have never experienced such rudeness. Will not be eating there again and have told the no OG community about cross contamination.

Delightful Vegan Chinese restaurant in Edgware, great service and delicious food as well as good selection of drinks. I would recommend the Vegan Crispy Chicken skewers to start they were divine. Good atmosphere and family run would definitely recommend and we will back.

Disgusting customer service by two of the waitresses! Don't bother coming here at all, it's a complete waste of money and time with the way the staff treats you if you are going out to enjoy a meal out. Buns firstly came out stone cold in the middle and secondly the noodles came out undercooked. 20 minutes had passed at this stage and they had forgot to redo the noodles with all the other food at this point cold which would have been eaten with the noodles. Please don't waste you time going here as your evening will not be ruined by the taste of the food but the service provided.

There used to be a nice family atmosphere but my visit last night was disappointing, the food very average at best, it was cold in the restaurant and the atmosphere has gone. Won’t be returning.

First time visiting zen Buddha, although we have had take aways before. Really lovely food all prepared to order. It really was delicious. Thank you, we will definitely be back. So nice for the vegans in our party to have such choice

We’ve been going to this restaurant for some years now, the food is excellent, the staff are always pleasant. Service can be a little slow at times, but that’s never really been a problem for us. Overall would happily recommend to anyone who enjoys authentic Chinese vegan/vegetarian food

AMAZING VEGAN FOOD! If you want the best vegan food this is the place to go. The dishes are full of flavour and so tasty. I’ve been coming here for a long time and this is my go to restaurant. The variety of different dishes is great the dish I love the most is the veggie chicken in black bean sauce , this is my go to dish! The salt and pepper tofu is also one to try! The staff are very helpful and the service is very prompt. Our food came out pretty quick after ordering, I was really impressed. If you’re ever in the area I would 100% recommend you go to Zen Buddha or order in if you want a cheeky takeaway 😊.

"Zen Buddha" used to be Loving Hut. Excellent vegan chinese food - recently under new ownership with new chef but the food seems still to be of a high standard. Service is variable, perhaps the new owners are settling in with new staff. It is a pleasant enough place to have dinner or lunch, and a reliable vegan menu. Affordable buffet at lunch times.

I wouldn’t even want to give one star to this restaurant - the service is absolutely awful and I would suggest you avoid! The restaurant wasn’t busy and forgot to give us our whole order - they refused to deliver the remainder when we called to raise this. We asked to speak to the manager but they said they were unavailable. They acknowledged the mistake and refused to give us a discount on the food they missed out - we had to go back and collect. What a bloody joke. We spent 1hr30 travelling there and back to collect the food - will never order from them again!!! Also such rude and useless service! AVOID

Really disappointed with the service. They ‘forgot’ to give us our whole order, accepted blame and refused to help us! Driver had apparently left and management were too busy to speak to us. They couldn’t give us a refund or discount and in the end, we had to go back and collect the remainder of our order which is now cold. Definitely will not be ordering from them again.

I've been come to Zen Buddha for many years now and absolutely love it. They were on the vegan scene very early on. Their food is just so yummy and the service is amazing. It's a family ran business so makes it more authentic and the service feels more genuine.

We usually order from Zen Buddha regularly. However, this time around we were delivered Sauces with fungus growing on them. Shows how long these have been sitting around for. Absolutely disgusting.

We are based in Herts and drove 25 mins to collect a takeaway. It's 40% off takeaway which makes the price worth it, full price and we wouldn't bother. The variety of food is brilliant, we have also eaten in three times over the last couple of years. It's amazing to have this so close and it be fully vegan so you don't have to question what you are ordering. Some dishes aren't that great, the rice dishes have always been really salty. Most dishes are dry dishes too, even a curry sauce would be great. The service is very slow whether eating in or getting takeaway, the waiting staff are ok but management are stand-offish. Because of the type of food we can mostly overlook this as we enjoy it. Update: We got takeout a couple weeks ago (June 2021) and there was a guy who provided the most friendly service on collection, showed us that everything was there and double checked if we wanted anything else. Seems to have new owners or staff!

Excellent and affordable Chinese vegan restaurant. Wonderful staff. One of the OGs of vegan Chinese food.
