Zaza's Grill in Tower Hamlets

Visited this restaurant a couple of days ago and was very excited to try out all the different masala dishes, from lamb chop masala/curry to butter chicken, however I was frankly disappointed, firstly, the butter chicken did not have any sort of buttery flavour so it just tasted like chicken curry which i was not expecting, secondly, the lamb chop masala/curry was one of the worst lamb chop masala dishes I have ever tasted, the lamb was chewy and did not bode well with the flavour of the masala. However on a more positive note, the chicken tikka was phenomenal, it was juicy and tender and kind of just melted in your mouth and the naan has got to be the best naan around in London, it was buttery,soft and freshly made, it was absolutely mouthwatering!, bar these two starters I have to say I was very disappointed in Zaza’s overall food and would not recommend visiting in the near future.

We go very often and always love the food. We love the prawn curry, masala fish, kebabs, and paneer tikka.....and lots more. They sometimes have parties on the weekend, check before you ho as on these nights the service can be slower and also the food quality goes down a little for other customers, who are not part of the party, when there's a party. But I would highly recommend as the food (on a non party night) is just delicious and nice staff. It's def our favourite restuarant in Whitechapel by FAR. It's changed names and is called Zaika now.

Ristorante incredibile: location elegante, personale gentilissimo e sorridente (la signora è stata davvero eccezionale). Piatti ricercati e ottimi. Un’esperienza culinaria degna di nota anche (e soprattutto) per palati italiani.

Food was fantastic and the servers were very friendly and helpful! Would absolutely go again. Plenty of options for vegetarians as well.

We organised a new year party there with group of 43 people, it was in basement hall, food, staff, environment, cleaning was best, its under new management the manager and staff all are soo friendly and helpful LOVE ZAZA😍

The deal was off and the manager was very defensive and rude when we pointed out the foul smell. Day after all 3 of us had stomach problems.

Visited for lunch with friends, the naan roti and the meat dishes were amazing.the place wasn't crowded therefore had fast service

The manager (Mr zaza) of this restaurant has no skills with customer service, We had a lucky escape. I tried to book this place for my father 89th with 45 guests, of that 8 were under the age of 3. When he heard this he was not pleased at all. I took a look at the basement private hall which had an awful damp toilet smell, I raised this concern with the staff member. The menu I selected was £17 per head and he expected me to pay this price for the children. I suggested he charge £10 per child but he said no and kept being very aggressive and  using an unprofessional tone. He then asked for a deposit of £200, I agreed to pay £100. When I took out my bank card he said no, he wants cash and again started getting very rude While this conversation is happening his staff are smirking and laughing. To anyone planning a party here, please be careful, Mr zaza is not there to give you a nice experience but its more about making money and being plain rude. Zaza management turned out to be very unreasonable and it did not seem right to give our hard earned cash to them.

Chicken jalfrezi was very bland and flavourless, also strangely full of huge chunks of raw ginger. I had "large" which was on the small side of average. Pilau rice was a bit soggy and for some reason had peas and carrots. Naan bread was pretty good. The meal was hugely overpriced.

Used to be a family favourite.. NOT ANYMORE! Terriable customer service. Manager has no manners and is very rude and unwelcoming. Due to the appalling customer service my family and I will not be stepping foot in Zaza’s again! Food is very basic too. I do not recommend this place. You are better off going to HFC across the street to be honest. At least the customer service will be good and you’ll actually want to spend your money there.

Prima restaurant in de buurt van Aldgate East. De bediening is zeer vriendelijk en de prijzen zijn redelijk. Echt een aanrader !!!

Went on Eid day so was very busy. Even though service and food was nice with a tasty flavour in each dish.Each dish was good portions and the seating was relaxing.

Zeer smaakvol vers halal eten. Niet eerder zo'n heerlijke biryani gegeten. Vriendelijke bediening. Ik zou hier graag weer willen dineren als ik Londen weer bezoek.

Pensé que entraría y probaría la comida después de que el informe reciente publicara un periódico local sobre su higiene. Aunque el verdadero lugar era bonito, tengo que decir que la comida no sabía muy bien. Nos mantuvieron esperando un rato, a pesar de que había otros 2 clientes en! Tengo que decir que para un sábado fue una sorpresa muy grande.

If your looking for authentic pakistani food dont waste your money here. I had eating here many times before but admittedly as it is not local it has been over a year since i last came.

Como era de esperar, no sirven alcohol, pero se trata de un pequeño precio a pagar por una excelente comida. Sin duda volvería de nuevo.

This restaurant is in the heart of Bangla town in London. We had chosen it as it has a function room in the basement and at the time of booking the owner was very pleasant and agreed to various request we had made for our party.

El peor servicio que he experimentado. Fuimos como un evento familiar y reservamos hasta 35 personas. Tuvimos 9 niños y 7 menores de 5 años. Cuando hicimos la reserva dijeron que los menores de 5 años eran gratis y que 5-10 eran a mitad de precio y luego los precios normales por cabeza para adultos. ¡Cuando llegamos nos dijeron que a todos los niños se les cobraría lo mismo que a los adultos, que era de 17 por cabeza! Esto fue extremadamente engañoso por teléfono, se sentía como si solo quisieran obtener la reserva sabiendo que un grupo tan grande no podría llegar a algún lugar con poca antelación si nos marchábamos. Luego, también intentaron hacernos pagar por 35 personas cuando solo 29 personas (incluidos niños) realmente llegaron. Esto nos hizo sentir incómodos y una mala vibra. El personal hizo para intentar dar un buen servicio, toda la comida se dejó en la mesa a la vez, la comida era extremadamente cara para lo que se ofrecía. Esta fue una experiencia horrible, tendría cuidado ya que lo que se dice no es lo que ofrecen.

Mi familia y yo habíamos reservado Zazas para una pequeña fiesta de compromiso el 25 de octubre de 2018. Había escuchado críticas sobre el restaurante, pero aún así decidimos reservar ya que estaban en una buena ubicación. Interior y acabado del restaurante se veía preciosa. Para ser honesto, era mi segunda función a la que había asistido y la primera vez no estaba decepcionado con nada, solo escéptico con respecto a la entrega del servicio.

Found this place by chance following an evening stroll around Spitafields Market/Aldgate area. Very delicious and tasty curry. Totally recommend this place.

We had never heard of this restaurant. We went there as the one we wanted to go to had closed down. But once we had their food, we thanked our lucky stars that we walked in by accident.

Noi siamo arrivati oltre le 21 di un giovedì sera nell'aprile 2017, stavamo festeggiando un compleanno e molti dei commensali erano vestiti con abiti tipici. Prezzi giusti e porzioni abbondanti, servizio veloce.

Tout près du ibis Budget Whitechapel, pour manger un repas indien authentique. Ici, on ne fait pas moins épicé pour plaire au plus grand nombre et c'est un bonheur! Grand choix de plats, y compris végétariens. Choix entre petite et grande portion très appréciable: si vous n'avez pas un énorme appétit, la petite suffit largement.

Am a regular visitor to this authentic Punjabi restaurant & always enjoy my visit. Friendly welcoming service & a good selection of dishes. Mixed grill starter was excellent and followed by the daily special which was equally good. BYO with our own beer & wine.

Restaurant sympa et halal. Très bon repas mais ultra piquant impossible personnellement de finir le butter chicken pourtant demande non épicé mais ultra piquant quand même.

Empezamos con parrilla mezcla, kebab, pollo, carne de cordero y sabor de goma y totalmente insípido.

I had a party for 60 people here recently and found the place to be an utter disappointment - I would not recommend this place and wish I had not come across it for the special occasion in which it had been booked. 3 example of how terrible it was:

We ate here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times were fairly quiet--surprising, since the food was quite good.

We ordered a large mixed grill and 2 biryanis. 1 chicken and 1 lamb biryani. Waiter was very nice. Food came out in good time. Grill was lovely but the Biryani was such a disappointment. It was not nice at all. It tasted sticky and rice was not nice at all. Very disappointing costing £7 for each 1. I did mention this to waiter but he was insisting that is how a biryani should be. Not happy.

I ordered a Chicken Jalfrezi, not quite sure what I was given, but it was definitely not a Chicken Jalfrezi. It didn't have any real texture to it and was very watery. It was a poor excuse for a curry. The service was also terrible and I was over charged on my bill. I didn't want to make a fuss, so I just payed it and left.

Goed gegeten. Lekkere smaak. Bediening was oké, niet overdreven vriendelijk. Eten kwam snel. Ach gewoon prima te eten voor een normale prijs.

We visited -probably at a quiet time. We have to report that the food was absolutely wonderful - delicious - and we had many dishes between 6 of us. Definitely a return in the future.

We had a very good meal here, starting with the mixed grill starter. We went at a quiet time and the staff were friendly and helpful and everything came to the table just at the right time. The chicken with spinach was delicious as were the lamb dishes we had . In fact it was all very good. We would reccomend it and will return . It was good we could book a table as we were all meeting up and arrived at slightly different times this meant we could sit with some snacks while we waited. The fact you can bring your own drinks is very good .

Das Ambiente ist wirklich „indisch“ - laut, vor allem durch TV- und Musik-Beschallung. Das Essen ist ok, aber auch nicht mehr. Der Service ist eher nachlässig. Preislich ist das Zaza für das Angebot ok.

I ate here with a colleague, as we had been staying nearby and needed to eat before heading home. It looked to be the most appetising place to eat along that stretch of road.

Been to this restaurant few times, but every time I go there it is disappointing to say the least. went there as other local place was busy. ordered the mix platter although reasonably priced it was not worth the taste..the sheesh kebab was falling apart! the cutlery dirty and plates were chipped. also seats were dirty too will not be going there anytime soon!

Cominciate con un rifrescante lassi ( io preferisco il salty) e poi tuffatevi nei numerosi masala disponibili. Le porzioni sono abbondanti perciò è un posto da andarci con amici per assaggiare tutto. provate entrambi e pani che fanno al momento. Da bere solo lassi e succhi di frutta ( come da tradizione islamica) ma accettano birre che si possono comprare nel negozio affianco e bere a tavola ( i camerieri NON toccano le bottiglie di birra, lasciate i vuoti nello shopper ). un posto vero con un servizio efficiente.

We were there with a big group celebrating anniversary. Food was lovely no doubt. But the service wasn't good. They acknowledged about less staff but Saturday night you can't just say that . However, it wasn't that much busy as well.

I visited this place last night. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The staff and management were very attentive.The decor and facilities were very clean.The food from the mixed grills to the main courses were all finger licking and absolutely delicious.I would happy recommend this restaurant for family meal and it's not noises like the other close by restaurants.A true hidden gem

This Place needs to be visited if your looking for authentic Pakistani cuisine we loved the whole experience in general but a must try is the sizzling mix grill. The food is fresh and hot and there service team was very helpful on the night.

I am not one to write reviews but had to for this place. Took some clients for a meeting and dinner. We were welcomed by the staff and directed to our table. The young chap serving us gave the house specials and a detailed overview of the menu. We ordered a selection of stuff but I have to mention the chops.The Lamb chops were fresh juicy and packed with flavour and meat. Great value for money too. 5*

I ate in this restaurant last night and thought that it was delicious. I will certainly be returning again soon. I have to say, I was sceptical at first. I was visiting after my Uber driver assured me that the lamb chops rivalled those of the famous Needo's grill over the rd. Surely this wasn't possible. I am delighted to confirm that they did. We had a mixed grill followed by the dry meat. Everything was delicious and a refreshing change from Tayyabs or Needo's. I am delighted to have discovered another brilliant Pakistani Restaurant. I cannot wait for my next visit. I am salivating at the prospect!

The restaurant is near the Whitechapel's underground. The prices are affordable. The meat and the rice are seperate so be careful during the order. Like many indians restaurants, the meals are plentiful and a bit spicy but its very tasty.

Dined yesterday, the restaurant has a good price and a full menu to make your choices. The food is quite fresh and tasty. It is well prepared. The small variant of the dishes is really 'large' enough. Though, I should seriously recommend the staff to ask the customer how spicy the food should be. In my case, the food was not really spicy. My experience at Indian restaurants is that people usually ask how spicy the food should be? Medium, spicy, or not spicy at all. Anyways, the food as such was tasty.

Repas chez Zaza, très bien, niveau qualité prix rien à dire. Pas de vente d'alcool mais possibilité d'acheter dans la rue et de consommer en mangeant ! Bon accueil mais anglais impératif ! Good !

We have been here many times over the last 5 years. The food is of a very high quality, customer service is fantastic. The restaurant is cosy and comfortable, you can take in your own drinks and the price is very reasonable. Never disapoints.

We popped in for a drink and something to eat. My wife had panini which she said was delicious. The coffee was good too. Staff very friendly and was reasonably busy. Would visit again.

It was my birthday and I took my friends to have a curry for a first time and eating here put them off it. Service was horrible as well as the taste of the food. Ordered a jalfrezi and it felt like I it was a mild curry. Also ordered a sag chicken and sag aloo which looked displeasing and ugh. Expected better and I know I'm not gonna come here again.

Esse restaurante serve uma boa comida indiana, pedimos um prato com carne e molho (massala), confesso que os temperos foram muito alem do que eu costumo comer quanto a picancia, eu e minha esposa tivemos de ir tirando o molho do prato para conseguir comer.No local eles pratos em dois tamanhos para uma e duas pessoas e realmente servem bem, porem não da para dividir para 3.

Title says it all! Small portions, Extortionate prices and Rude management...(although i presume it was management as he did not have the usual waiter attire on).We visited a while back and just remembered to share my review now after looking at other restaurants in the area. Let's hope they have improved on the customer service.

Afriend of mine and daughters ( under 4) Popped in late afternoon on a Saturday as the girls were hungry. We asked the waiter how long the wait would be and he said the food would be served within 10 minutes ( which it surprisingly was :)) He sat us down where we asked to be seated as we wanted to be out of the way with two young toddlers. The food came fresh and piping hot. Naans were soft inside and firm on the outside and the chicken was cooked well with the right amount of spice :) We also asked if we could pray and they kindly accommodated us. Very happy customers :)

Been past Zaza's many times on my travels but this was the first visit. Birthday party being celebrated by around 25 people on the table in front of us and a scattering of other customers. Waiter apologised for the birthday group but we didn't mind as they were enjoying themselves and weren't too boisterous, it was good to hear people having fun. Only downside was that we joined in singing happy birthday to the young lady but didn't get any cake!! (spoilsport, haha)What stood out the most for me and this is the biggest bonus was that they were all Asian diners and as far as i'm concerned if the locals or indigenous people do not frequent a venue of the same culture then i avoid the place. Having your own culture eating in your restaurant is like an advert in itself to say, the food is good here!Service was quick; we had an delicious lamb curry and mixed grill. Price was similar to other restaurants in the area. The staff were very polite and came over several times to check we were OK.Recommend this restaurant for the food and polite service; we will be coming again!

I visited this place with high spirits for having Biryani, but I was utterly disappointed to see that the restaurant served me chicken rice, tossed in a pan. I mean this restaurant should at least not call their chicken rice as Biryani. Not at all recommended if you want to have authentic Indian or Mughal cuisine.

Good curry. We had lamb kofta and butter chicken. And it was really good. The rice was nice and fluffy. The naan was a bit disappointing. Really greasy and not as nice as I get at my local Indian restaurant. Also the mint sauce was like water and lacked a bit of taste. The red spicy sauce on the other hand was fantastic. Could have eaten the whole bowl.

Although not publicised to the western clientele, or mentioned in the travel publications, this is the best place for this cuisine that I know of in London, having lived and worked in the city for now 8 years. Exquisite, authentic and right up there (arguably better) than Tayyabs and Lahore Kebab House. Don't be misled by the sight of it being nearly empty in the afternoons other than some regulars like myself as it's quite busy in the evenings.

Le restaurant est propre (c'est une cuisine ouverte donc on peut voir les cuistots préparer le repas), la nourriture est bonne et pas très cher (50 livres à 4), mais c'est tout de même un peu épicé (attention pour les enfants).Dans le quartier de Whitechapel, si certains restaurants n'inspirent pas confiance, celui-ci est une bonne adresse.

Have used this restaurant on several occasions as a group and family visit. this time the regular staff were nowhere to be seen and although still friendly the service was abysmally slow and the ladies seemed at best rookies to waitressing.On arrival there were drinks in the table, which was new and we assumed were free but in fact were charged for them at the end of the meal but nothing to indicate this! evening ended with one member of the group storming off having given up waiting for his main course which put a damper on the evening. as a group we will be looking for alternative venues which is a shame!

Service was amazing, reason going there again and again now service is alright but food!! Last visit jalfrezi became more jal(!!) than meat. Lamb wasn't cooked properly.

The service was OK but the food is really bad. I have been here before and surprised this place has not improved. They need to work on the food, and get some more lighting in the restaurant as it’s just so dark! One waiter was working really hard, but the others were just chatting.

Nous sommes venues manger dans ce restaurant car il étais à 20m de notre hôtel, restaurant propre, peut être un peu bruyant, personnel très sympathique, juste bémol cuisine vraiment épicé et toilette pas vraiment propre, je recommande quand même pour la proximité de l'ibis Budget ( ne prend pas l'american express).

Restaurant excellent. Bon rapport qualité prix environ 30€ pour 2 personnes (plat bien chargé) Attention tout de même car plat bien relevé mais excellent. Je conseille les Nan cheese, kebab massala (rien à voir avec le massalé) et un plat avec des crevettes.

Went to a family birthday party about 30pplz.there service was too bad.when we asked them y they doing service like that.he replyed boss is pissed off because he losing thousand of money because of our booking.what a ridiculous and shocking talk was that.i was there as a guest and that waiter told the person who booked the party front of all the guest.everyone were totally shocked I can't tell you what was the horrible moment was that.we just replied you guys took our booking we didn't force u to booked.we realise there are no point to argue with these stupid people...please if you guys want to keep your respect don't go there.they need to learn how to do customer service first...shocking

Went with my wife as another restaurant we were going to was super busy but we had a great time at Zaza's. The food was delicious and freshly made and hot. We had a mixed Grill for starters and then some naans with Tikka Masala curry and Lamb Jalfrezi, with soft drinks our total came to £37. Staff were great and the restaurant looked nice.

Il ristorante si presenta come un posto tranquillo dove gustare del buon cibo in stile indiano. I cibi sono cucinati davvero bene, secondo la cucina indiana, ovviamente per chi ama mangiare speziato. Prezzi contenuti per quello che abbiamo mangiato. Molto consigliato!

Enjoyed yet another outstanding evening savouring the delights of my favourite Indian/Pakistani restaurant. Having grown up in and around Whitechapel and eating in many of the restaurants along Brick Lane, this one stands head and shoulders above them. Watch out for the sharing Mixed Grill starter, it is sooo good you may not make it to the mains, preferring to have another.Also, they serve the best, of my personal favourite, Peshawari Naan.I have been here several times with different people and every one has said how wonderful it was. If you're in the area, or not, this place is well worth a visit, but you better be wearing loose fitting clothing.

I have been frequenting this quaint Restaurant for at least 8 months now during my lunch break. I have to say, this place helps me wind down, enjoy my day and refreshes me so that I can return to work to complete my day. The premises is clean, in fact, it has just been redecorated, nice music is played for the clientele, the food is very very nice with great choices. The staff are also very polite, and when they get to recognise you they know what you want as soon as you step through the door.The business has been going for over 9 years, and I`m not surprised.The prices are also reasonable. Whenever I go there it`s never empty.I`am quite fussy where I have my meals, so, I would recommend it to anyone who happens to be in the area. It`s a place where you could just sit and have a coffee or tea, hot meal or sandwich, it`s your choice. In fact, I pop there for a quick breakfast sometimes. . Although it`s great for family and friends, I would say it`s too small for a large business meeting, however, if the meeting were between 2-3 people it may well be ideal.

Booked a reservation for a party of 20 so management had plenty of time to prepare but unfortunately as soon as we walked in, the atmosphere was dire. No smiling waiters, no customer service what so ever. Had to keep asking them over and reminding them of our orders.The food was awful! Fish dish was absolutely dry and they couldn't differentiate between pakoras and onion bhajis!!Oddest thing was everyone's curry dish looked identical, with just different veggies or meat added to it!Price was reasonable for the area I guess but the lack in quality of the food was just as bad as the customer service

8pm, Family of 5 including a preschooler, 2 teenagers and 2 Adults, ordered 3 poppadums, 4 curry, 1 grilled chicked starter, 1 naan, 1 roti pratha, 2 rice plus 2 soft drinks, 1 mineral water and 2 fruit juice.The music was too loud. Waited a while for the food as there was only one person cooking as we can see.Roti paratha arrived but discovered a hair so returned it. Waiter accepted and replaced without apology, by that time my lamb curry was cold and was not even offered to reheat it. Another hair discovered in the mushroom fried rice. By that time we were already more than half way through the rice, so gave up complaining. Besides our preschooler was tired.The food we ordered were edible, nothing to be impressed with. The spicy lamb curry I ordered was tasteless, the grilled chicken was a little pink, did not try the others but the rest of the family were not impressed either. The 3 poppadums arrived at almost the end of the meal after we had prompted the waiter, apparently we have been forgotten.At the end of the meal, when we asked for the bill which came up to 66 pounds, we told the waiter about the 2 hair found, we were ignored. Recommend them? No way!Will we be back? Never!Price wise was not competitive.Fingers crossed we have strong enough stomach.

Was really looking forward to this visit as have visited most good asian restaurents in the area. Food was ok. I would perhaps just advise the msnagement on the quality of the Chips - it was oily and not very appealing. Probably not the main reason why people would go to a Panjaby eatery but if its going to remainon the menu - please either consider to improve the quality or discontinue.

I have been Zaza's a few times and it's always a safe option for when you're around Whitechapel.Literally a stones throw away from ELM it offers great service for large groups in their basement.The food is nicely cooked and is warm. It's not something special but it gets the job done every time and the big basement is always a plus for family/business events.If someone told me to go for dinner at Zaza's I would happily join them knowing I would get good food for a good price.

Zaza"s Restaurant is the best spiced food provider I went out for a meal with my family and it was beautiful and their was a very friendly environment and food was so good. the restaurant was amazing and food was very tasty and very healthy and good appetite.
