I am a regular visitor to Zara's, mostly for carry outs rather than sit ins. The restaurant is lovely and comfortable. Although I've never had a bad meal the consistency can vary from OK to very good. My favourite Indian meals are the hot ones and I've tried Zara's Madras and Vindaloo both of which were good but the sauces were very thin. I've also had their Patia which I have to say was excellent, with a rich and thick sauce. I've been to many Indian restaurants and would agree Zara's is good but for me the lack of consistency and thin sauces means I can't give it a 5 star rating. That said it wont put me off going back but then there isn't another Indian restaurant in Antrim to compare!

We ate here as a group. It was very enjoyable, pleasant food and drink. Great atmosphere and surroundings. Food portions are generous and taste very fresh and authentic. Most of the staff are very friendly and polite, they seem to work together and have a great team spirit. However one of the staff, a young girl, is what will prevent us returning. I think she is covering for the usual girl who is off on maternity leave. When we entered we were greeted with a blank stare from her, no greeting etc. Someone asked to her to get us some popadoms for the table, she let out a huge sigh. Said popadoms were thrown down at us with attitude. She walked off without even a smile or acknowledgement, she then leaned on the bar while watching others work. My daughter got up to use the bathroom and was given what can only be described as a dirty look. She cost the rest of the team their tip as they share them. Upon sharing my experience with friends they agreed that they had felt uncomfortable and did not like eating there as she was there. We thought it was only weekends she was there and decided that next time we would go during the week, my husband poked his head in and saw her there on a weekday also. Sorry Zara's but until the normal team is back together we won't be back. This opinion seems to be shared by a few people I have spoken to.

Antrim has an abundance of crap restaurants and Zara's is most definitely a hidden gem. Indian cuisine is probably my favourite and I cook it from fresh a lot, therefore I can appreciate the quality of Zara's food. The food is fresh, flavoursome and authentic. Portion sizes are generous therefore great value for money. We have never had a bad meal in here, so difficult to recommend just one dish. The latest time I really enjoyed a lamb biryani which was fabulous - tender, delicate lamb with no fat. Their homemade naan bread is to die for. Service is prompt and friendly, another bonus. Free shot that comes with the bill is another nice touch. Highly recommended.

Zara's Indian Restaurant in Antrim town is absolutely five stars.Having been going there for several years, it is time for me to spread the word! This is warm, clean, comfortable restaurant, superbly finished and furnished to a high standard. For those who appreciate quality tableware, the crockery, cutlery and glassware are very high-end.No expense has been spared in creating a wonderful environment for a dining experience! The menu is wide and varied, cooked by the multi-talented chef who I know as Rana. He will constantly appear to check on customer satisfaction. My favourite main here is Lamb Monposond, an incredible creation first recommended to me by the owners, the quality of the meat is so unusual these days. Try it, I think it's a house special!!As this is a licensed restaurant, it's great to avail of a splendid wine list!! The guys out front, Mr H and Sonny (as I know them), are terrific hosts, never intrusive, but incredibly passionate about what they do, and this is what makes it a special dining experience.Value for money, quality food and drink and exceptional customer care, I hope to keep visiting here for many years to come! I didn't have a lot of faith in the takeaways in Antrim town but Zara's changed my mind there! I arrived on a Saturday afternoon for takeaway for the family and the girl who served me asked what our collective tastes were, what we were looking for and which type of meat we wanted and I explained our individual tastes. She said "leave it with me" and off she went to the kitchen. A short time later she produced a selection of interesting dishes with rice, naan, popadoms and dips for us to take home and try. They did not disappoint and were extremely tasty. That was a real first for any takeaway I've been to as they catered to our individual tastes and I was suitably impressed. Looking forward to returning perhaps next time to sit in.

I would also recommend the lamb biryani and the chicken jalfrezi, both spicy and very flavoursome, the way a curry should be.The takeaway food is always piping hot, non-greasy and tasty. The place looks nice to sit in although I haven't availed of a sit-in meal yet - next time!

Have had many many meals both in & carry out & have been impressed each time. My son loves the hot stuff (you know the kind that will strip the lining of your stomach but tastes yummy) almost exclusively & he is always delighted. My wife loves the mild (er the better) food exclusively & is always delighted, which is strange as Indian isn't one of her favourite types of food. Me I'm easy (not that way) I love it all, expect high quality & I'm always delighted. So a broad spread of tastes & preferences & all delivered with Zaras. I can honestly recommend the food from Zaras & they are always delighted to see you & provide great service. Tonight was exceptional, I don't know if there's a new chef or just that the regular one has upped his game, but it was by far the best meal I've had from there. My family and friends have frequented Zaras numerous times over the past 3 years, both eating in and taking out. We were always thrilled and raved about it to everyone. In fact I had previously on 9 September 2012 rated Zaras with a 5 on tripadvisor. On new years however, we ordered a meal for family we were entertaining and were more than disappointed with the food. The lamb pasanda was like lumps of lamb floating in porridge. The vibrant colour and flavour was completely absent. Only for the meals having different meat (chicken and lamb) we could not distinguish between the lamb pasanda and the makani chicken (our two regular dishes- normally amazing). My sister had order another dish and was equally disappointed. It was quite embarrassing to have such poor food at a family event you were hosting. Anyway we put it down to the restaurant being busy for new years eve and decided to eat elsewhere for a bit. A week ago for a birthday we decided to try Zaras again and sadly were very disappointed once again. I therefore feel I must change my 5 star rating as I can no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone.

After 4 years of travel, I'm Back.!My family have dined here many happy times... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzuuuuuuuuuuttttttt...........!Tonight I ordered two dishes, one from the menu and one classic; Chicken Methi, with green chillies which should and could be knocked up in 90 seconds by any chef. The bread : Chapati arrived Small, folded and as crunchy as a Popadom and Inedible.!The Puri, in two finger-food teardrop pieces - unfit for purpose as bread for an Indian meal. The Methi had NO Methi taste and had Green chillies thrown on top as apposed to cooked in with the dish even for the few seconds that it would take to blend the spices. The Hara Mirchi: tasted and looked well with a decent blending of spices and green chillies that had obviously been cooked with its mother sauce. My biggest complaint is after incurring a realistic but non-subsidised £5 (5mile) and £32 pounds cash money, my telephone query was met by; "It wasn't me! Yes please thank you goodbye! AND #2 Sam's not here.!"Where has your Pride gone Zara.? AND.... WHY don't you care.? Also. If you want to expand your delivery radius to include Randalstown, Subsidise your deliveries just like restaurants in Belfast or any other town in the UK. God knows you charge enough.!

I had a main course in this restaurant of a cross section of starter dishes on the one plate because I think it is a good way to rate the quality of the food served up.I received one chapati with a dish of insipid mint sauce - no yoghurt in there at all - more like tap water and milk, and no mint. The selection of starters all appeared to be the same with the exception of a chicken leg and a piece of kebab chicken. Samosas were no better than ok. Onion Bhajis were no different from something else on the plate they were supposed to be - all on a bed of onion! What a disappointment for 20 quid!I will not be back despite the manager's protestations that I didn't have a main course. The fact that I wanted to have a broad selection to decide how they were had no meaning was lost on him apparently and I came away hugely disappointed, never to retern.

This was not a problem. 50 minutes later, my food arrived, the delivery driver was pleasant and polite so no faults there.I opened my takeaway and noticed to my dismay that all the curries had split. We attempted to mix the sauces back together but to no avail, they left a horrible oily taste in our mouth. Not to mention that the food was only lukewarm at best. we had a few mouthfuls and just threw it in the bin. When I was told it would be 45 minutes I expected this to be spent in the kitchen cooking not in a car getting cold.

We've visited Zara a few times and the food is consistently very good. The menu is extensive but if you fancy something else, the chef is always happy to create your favourites. The dining room is large and roomy and is situated in a quiet location in the centre of town by the river. It's a pity that more couldn't be made of the location to provide outdoor seating for summer evenings or to have a drink on the terrace before dining. The last time we went was for our wedding anniversary just before Christmas. We knew that there would be large groups out for their annual parties but, since I'd booked in advance to explain the purpose of our visit, I was a bit disappointed that we were seated next to a big group which didn't make for a romantic meal. Also, the lighting was too bright which detracted from the ambiance. Despite a couple of niggles, we will be visiting Zara again the next time we're in Antrim.

Just wanted to share my one of the worst experience at Zara's on 22/10/13. Me and my wife went to eat at Zara resturant around 9.30 pm. There were not any other customers in the resturant. Boy on reception and our host brought us to our table and offered seats, he put the menus on the table. We were offered a four seat table and front chairs were offered to sit as they were slide out. The first issue, there were no cutlery in front of us but beside us where the both seats were empty (on the same table). We were offered papdoms as usual and were left to choose our order. Staff member who was the only one visible in the building, took away few extra cutlery from the side table and did not bothered to place some in front of us. When we started to place our order and ordered Motor Paneer and he said there is no Paneer at all then my wife asked him what other dishes are available. He was so rude just to answer "I can make you anything but we do not have any Paneer". We decided to make some changes and ordered Bombay Aaloo instead Motor Paneer and Vegetable Bhuna. After some time when we finished the papdoms, he brought our ordered food on our table. Then my wife asked him "Can we have some cutlery please?". He looked at us with very cold look and said "it's sitting there". That guy had no respect to the women and no sense how to speak to the customers. Then my wife said we have been to many resturants and always cutlery and napkins provided in front of us. Then he started shouting for no reason. He said I told you it's siting there and he said " I offered you a big table instead of a small two sweater and still you people are complaining. Then he continued this is the problem with "Our People". That's the most discriminative statement, we ever heard. What he tried to say was that we do not know the basic mannerism of eating out. When I confronted him because of the rude behaviour with my wife, he started shouting. The way he shouted on my wife for asking a simple basic question that was not acceptable. We have been to Zara resturant with our friends and family many times, we never had this type of customer service. I really do not know how this guy get the job in this resturant who does not know how to speak to the customers. He does not know how to treat with the customers. We decided to leave after such a bad and rude experience and then he again started to shout and asked us to pay for the food. We had no chance to say something as he became so aggressive and walked out of the room to kitchen area. It was really disappointing to have this kind of customer service in Zara resturant Antrim. An Angry Customer

Called in on route from a North coast day out. Trip adviser on Tom Tom sent us to an industrial estate so beware ! however once we located by postcode it was well worth it lots of specials plus all the usuals you would expectAttentive and pleasant service with reasonable prices and a view of the river from our tableAnd to cap it all off we watched a huge otter swimming up and down the river oblivious to us watching him from the footbridge next to the restaurant brilliant !

Went for a meal with the family thought I would try this place because of TripAdvisor starters where such a good start ordered Bombay aloo nice with just amount of spice then mains came ordered a madras No spice and very watery nan bread had no garlic and just a little bigger than a tea plate coke was flat and a little over priced I don't mind paying for or traveling for good food. My favorite meal is Asian and have Asian friends that have cooked for me sorry but will not be going back!

I used to travel for miles to my favourite curry house, but now it's just around the corner! Zara's is fabulous, and adds so much more than most of the normal standard menus including chicken tikka massala etc.Clearly a very talented chief here, because although they do offer the curry 'norms', they also offer various meals from the regions of india and bangladesh.Highly recommended!

The food and service are always wonderful in Zara's. It is difficult, if not impossible, to get decent vegan food in NI but here the food is delicious. The service is friendly and professional. This is my favourite place to eat.Plenty of vegetarian and meat dishes too.

We were on a hunt for an Indian take away the other night and Zara's popped up, we had before, used a different take away just down the road but were unimpressed, so decided to try Zara's instead. And I am glad to say they impressed us all round! Prices were brilliant, with the curry price including a rice. The staff members were very helpful, as at first we couldn't find the restaurant to pick up the take away. But they were very helpful! The food impressed up both, was full of flavour, and well worth the money! We will be returning again for our next take away!!

We recently visited Zaras in Antrim because of the excellent reviews on trip advisor. The setting of the restaurant is not the best, it seems to be in a bit of a run down part of the town but we decided to give it a shot. Initially I was a bit put off by the price of the food as it was about 30-40% more expensive than our local indian restaurant. However, the food is really very good and lots of meat in the dishes that we chose rather than a few pieces floating in a sauce. The manager/owner and the staff are very pleasant and friendly without being overbearing, just right. I could definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The food is of excellent quality, wouldn't have a Chinese after trying Indian. One of my favourite places to dine/take away. The staff are very helpful and give great advice if you're unsure of what to order, in fact they'll probably let you sample a few sauces at no cost. All the people who work there are very pleasant and polite, so excellent service. Also the restaurant has a nice atmosphere in it. 10 out of 10

For me, Zara's is the best Indian restaurant in Northern Ireland. An undiscovered gem.The food is delicious and the staff are happy to make recommendations, or suggest off-menu options. The staff are very friendly and always remember returning customers. The price is reasonable - £10-£13 for a sit in meal (main course) and £8 for a take-away option. There is a limited choice of alcoholic drinks - a few wine or beer options - but this is always fine for me.I've been both as a couple and in large groups, and the service is always fantastic.I would highly recommend a visit!

Always our go to Indian takeaway. Very polite, great service and the best curries going. Love the odd chips and large onion bahjis. Good portions too. Enjoy
